History of nissan gtr. Video history of the Nissan Skyline. Skyline V35 interior

Nissan skyline Is a mid-size sports car with over 50 years of production history. It was originally produced by the Prince Motor Company, which was acquired by Nissan in 1966.

The Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 is the tenth generation of the legendary sports car. His premiere screening took place in September 1998.

The engineers and designers of the Japanese manufacturer have seriously updated the car. New body became more compact and sporty compared to the R33. In particular, the new car has slightly decreased in length.

The exterior of the Nissan R34 has become more aggressive and youthful. The version with the GT-R nameplate was produced only in the coupe body, while the regular Nissan Skyline R34 is a sedan. Outwardly, they are seriously different from each other, the only exception is the branded round taillights.

Coupe Nissan GTR 34 has a much more aggressive appearance with different bumpers, a different grille and optics, widened fenders and the presence of an impressive spoiler on the trunk lid.

Major technical changes

Especially for the modified Nissan GT-R R34, the Japanese have developed mechanical box GETRAG with six stages, and they upgraded the turbochargers on the engines. The chassis has become more rigid and the aerodynamic properties of the body have improved markedly.

What is a car capable of?

The all-wheel drive Nissan GT-R R34 is equipped with a 2.6-liter 280-horsepower engine (392 Nm), which is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. From zero to hundred, the coupe accelerates in 4.9 seconds, and maximum speed reaches 250 km / h.

About versions and interior

On Russian market The Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 was not officially on sale. In other markets (Europe and Japan), a choice of model from several modifications was offered. The standard GT-R has a 5.8-inch LCD display that shows a variety of indicators, including turbo pressure, coolant and oil temperatures.

On the GTR V-Spec, you can see a graph of lateral / longitudinal acceleration and lap times on the screen. Unlike the regular version, the V-Spec has a stiffer lowered suspension. The exterior is distinguished by the presence of a carbon fiber diffuser and a modified hood with a special compartment for additional engine cooling.

Nissan GTR M-Spec R34 has a softer and comfortable suspension plus leather interior. The standard GT-R was austere, with plain black seat upholstery and harsh plastics used in the trim.

Most powerful production GT-R R34

In 2002, Nissan introduced the GT-R R34 in a special version of the Nur4. Its main feature was the modernized engine, with which the maximum speed of the car increased to 300 km / h.

About prices in Russia

Buy Nissan GT-R R34 for secondary market in Russia it is not so easy, since there are very few proposals. On average, you should be guided by a price of 1,500,000 rubles, and Skyline tuning options will cost even more.

The car in the back of the R35 was replaced, which lost the Skyline prefix in the name, as well as the sedan version. In the name of Skylan, now on domestic market in Japan they call the Infiniti G series.

Nissan skyline- (Translated as Sky Line, Horizon) a car produced in Japan since 1957, first by Prince Motor, and then by Nissan Motor, which bought Prince in 1966. To date, 13 generations of this car have been released. The current version of the V37 is also sold in North America, Russia, South Korea and Taiwan under the Infiniti Q50 name.

History

ALSI

First Skyline with factory designation ALSI-1 rolled off the assembly line from 1957 to 1963 under the Prince brand and was considered a luxury car by Japanese standards. A total of 33,759 copies were sold, mostly with sedan and station wagon bodies.

The car, presented on April 24, 1957, was built by the Prince Motor Company, based on the military aircraft manufacturing base Tachikawa Aircraft Company in 1952 and named after the Japanese crown prince Akihito. The first generation Skyline was built on the basis of commercial vehicle Prince Skyway.

The car had a frankly "pro-American" design, was originally equipped with a GA-30 engine with a volume of 1.5 liters (1482 cm³) and a capacity of 60 liters. with. (44 kW), weighed about 1300 kg and accelerated to a maximum speed of about 140 km / h. Structurally, it was quite simple, for example, a dependent rear suspension was of the type "De Dion" - with a light beam connecting the rear wheels and a fixed main gear reducer.

The model was updated in 1958 ( ALSI-2), having received four headlamps in accordance with the latest American fashion, as well as new engine GA-4 with OHV valve mechanism, which with a slightly different working volume (1484 cm³) already had a capacity of 70 liters. with. (52 kW).

Also, since 1962, the coupe and convertible have been manually assembled under the name BLRA-3, with Italian design from Giovanni Michelotti and a 1.9 L GB-30 96 hp engine. with. (72 kW). There were very few of them produced in two years, only 60 pieces, which is explained, among other things, by the price of 1.85 million yen - about twice the price of the usual serial Skyline 1500, but this model (like other models of the Prince company) is often can be seen in Japanese films of those years produced by the Toho film studio thanks to the active work of the corporate group on product placement.

S50

The S50 series and its modifications were produced only with a sedan body, from to G. A total of 114,238 cars were sold. The Skyline S50 was equipped with a 70 hp G-1 engine. with. (52 kW), which was a modernized GA-4. A 1.9 L (91 HP) engine was also available.

S54

The chassis of this series was specially designed with a 6-cylinder engine in mind to avoid the problems encountered with the creation of the S54. This version, 2000GT with an in-line 6-cylinder L20 engine with a volume of 2.0 liters and a capacity of 105 liters. with. (78 kW) appears a year later.

GT-R

The first Skyline GT-R was released in February with a sedan body (PGC-10 index). The coupe (KPGC-10) appeared in March. They were powered by two-liter 6-cylinder S20 engines with 160 hp. (118 kW), which was at the level of the best sports cars of that time.

The Skyline GT-R has proven its worth in motorsport. In less than 2 years, the sedan won 33 victories in various races, and thanks to the coupe, this number was brought to 50 by 1972. The GT-R was not inferior to such cars as: Toyota 1600 GT5, Isuzu Bellett GTR, Mazda Familia ( R100) and Capella (RX-2) and even Porsche. In the end, the new Mazda RX-3 became a serious contender for the GT-R, which interrupted the victorious march of the GT-R. The Skyline GT-R has become the favorite car of street racers. The car was produced from 1970 to 1972.

Several new ones have been applied on this model. technical solutions, such as engines of the RB series with fuel injection system and HICAS (English High Capacity Active Steering) - a system that provides not only the front, but also rear wheels with the help of hydraulics, thanks to which the vehicle's controllability is improved during skidding and the safe cornering speed is increased. The R31 series was the only one that the 4-door hardtop was produced. This version was called Passage GT.

GTS-R

The most charged version of the R31 was the coupe HR31 GTS-R with 20DET-R engine. A total of 823 vehicles were produced and they were all painted in BG8 Bluish Black. The engine differed from the usual RB20DET by a more efficient turbocharger and intercooler, which allowed an increase in power to 210 hp. with.

GT-R

The real success was the return in 1989 of the GT-R version (BNR32), designed in accordance with the FIA requirements for racing cars Groups A.

She was equipped electronic system all-wheel drive 4WD ATTESA ETS (eng. Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All Electronic Torque Split). Its peculiarity was that when the rear wheels slipped, the front wheels were connected, which transmitted about 50% of the torque, which made it possible to compensate for the slipping losses. At the core, the car remained rear-wheel drive. The HICAS system, which received the Super prefix, was modernized and controlled electronically. The 2.6-liter RB26DETT 6-cylinder engine had two turbines, which made it possible to reach a power of 500 hp. with official 276 (maximum power according to the gentlemen's agreement of the Japanese automakers).

With 29 victories in 29 races in the JTCC circuit, winning 4 championships in a row from 1993 to 1993 and setting a new record for the Nürburgring Nordschleife loop time for production cars, the car proved its superiority.

Originally, due to homologation requirements, the GT-R was fitted with 16-inch wheels, which limited size and efficiency. brake discs... Following changes in racing regulations to allow the use of 17-inch wheels, a version was released in February 1993 GT-R V-spec(from the English victory, victory) with 17 "BBS wheels and increased braking mechanisms Brembo. The car also got active rear differential... A year later released V-Spec II, featuring wider tires.

In the US, the sedan was sold as Infiniti g... Engines with a volume of 2.5 are offered for the sedan; 3.5; 3.7 liters, for the coupe - 3.7 liters. As in previous generation The sedan has an all-wheel drive version.

Nissan Skyline R34 is a legendary car that is known to many from movies or games. Many want it for one purpose - to drive and most often sideways. Japanese manufacturer released this car in 1998, and when developing, he seriously bothered about sportiness and environmental friendliness.

This is the 10th generation, which has changed the R33 version and has received a lot of changes compared to it. Has changed as appearance, and the technical component, and now let's talk about everything in more detail.

Exterior

The design of the car is just great, it looks aggressive, which is what most car enthusiasts like. The car at the front has an embossed bonnet, aggressive narrow halogen optics and a small grille between the headlights. The massive aerodynamic bumper features a black lip, small air intakes and separate turn signals.

Looking at the car in profile, we notice slightly swollen wheel arches in front and a beveled arch in the back, which looks a little unusual. There is a small stamping at the bottom and in the middle, but in the middle it is a line.

Behind us are greeted by halogen round headlights, of which there are 4 pieces. The small trunk lid has a huge spoiler. There is also a small brake light repeater on the trunk lid. The massive, sculpted rear bumper is equipped with large rear running lights, and already under the small diffuser is the exhaust pipe.

Body dimensions Nissan Skyline R34:

  • length - 4580 mm;
  • width - 1725 mm;
  • height - 1105 mm;
  • wheelbase - 2665 mm;
  • clearance - 140 mm.

Specifications

Petrol 2.5 l 200 h.p. 255 H * m - - 6

Petrol 2.6 l 280 h.p. 392 H * m - - 6

The model had at the time of its production only 4 sufficiently powerful motors. These units are distinguished by good reliability and at the same time allow you to drive almost every day.

  1. Let's start a discussion on increasing power. The base engine is an aspirated in-line 6-cylinder gasoline engine. Its volume is 2 liters, and it produces 155 horsepower and 186 H * m of torque. This motor was not the most popular and therefore nothing is known about its dynamics until now. There is information that in the combined cycle it consumes 8 liters of gasoline.
  2. The second unit in the lineup is exactly the same engine as the previous one, but its volume has been increased to 2.5 liters. Because of this, the power has grown to 200 horsepower and 255 H * m of torque. It consumes 9 liters in a combined cycle.
  3. The third Nissan Skyline R34 engine is a copy of the previous one, but a turbine with a pressure of 1 bar was screwed to it. As a result, the maximum power rose to 280 horsepower and 363 units of torque. This is an excellent unit that is most often found among owners.
  4. The last motor in the lineup was simply increased in volume to 2.6 liters, but the power remained the same at 280 horses. It also differs in the presence of all-wheel drive.

The gearboxes are installed here completely different, there are 5 and 6-speed mechanics in the line, and there is also a 4-speed automatic. Torque is transmitted to rear axle, but there are also four-wheel drive versions.

The suspension of the car is completely independent, it perfectly helps to drive the car and in the sport mode, as it is nowhere to be found. The brakes are, of course, completely disc, but only the front ones received ventilation.

Salon

The interior of the model is truly sporty, sporty forging that does an excellent job of keeping the driver and passenger in turns. The front space is more or less enough, but you definitely shouldn't wait for comfort, you need to tune in to a tough driving style. There are 5 seats here and therefore 3 people can be accommodated in the back, but there is not much space there.

The driver of the Nissan Skyline R34 will get a semi-sports steering wheel, which is 3-spoke and nothing else is present on it. The dashboard is also nothing by modern standards, it has large analog gauges for the speedometer, tachometer, fuel level and engine temperature.

The center console is also poor by modern standards. Its upper part is equipped with a standard radio tape recorder, which you cannot find on most cars, below there is a climate control unit designed as a radio tape recorder, and then there is a niche for small things, an ashtray and a cigarette lighter. The tunnel has a large gear selector, a small box for small items and a correctly set parking brake handbrake.

Price

Now this car can only be bought on the secondary market, where it is quite rare. The price spread is serious, the minimum cost is 150 thousand rubles and reaches a million, but extremely rarely. The fact is that it all depends on the condition, year of release, and of course, many sell already pumped versions.

If you are a young guy and you have a desire to buy yourself a Nissan Skyline R34, then it would be best to get yourself, for example, an R32 or older. Because these are faster cars than the new version, and most young guys want speed and this model is well known to them from the films. In the event that you are aged and you just need a vehicle, then it is better for you to purchase the latest version, since it is more comfortable.

Do you know how it happens? You are the head of the Japanese carmaker Nissan, you release a GT-R, and you don't even plan any enchanting sales. Also, you do not expect that the car will ever be popular abroad. But in 1989, the Nissan Skyline was considered the fastest Japanese car on the planet. In 1998, the world saw the Nissan Skyline R34. The typewriter has repeatedly appeared in the series of the movie "Fast and the Furious" and marked the release of the tenth generation.

In total, 13 generations of this machine have already been released. The current version of the V37 is sold under the name Infinity Q50 in countries such as Russia, North America, South Korea and Taiwan. The latest generation is produced under the name Nissan GT-R and was shown in 2016. The whole.

Car history

Skyline is one of the oldest types of Japanese cars - this brand has been operating for more than fifty years and an abundance of cars have been produced under the nameplate “ Skyline". The production of this vehicle began in 1955, when the Skyline ALSI-1 model was released. The car was created by the Prince Motor Company. This company was created in 1952 by the Tama automobile company, which in turn was founded by the Tachikawa aviation company.

The latter company was engaged in the production of fighters for World War II, and in 1952 began production electric cars Tama. In honor of the Emperor of Japan Hirohito, Tama decided to rename the Prince Motor Company. The company began to produce gasoline-fueled cars to replace electric cars.

Prince was able to use a powertrain designed by the Fuji Precision Industries division of the Nakajima aviation firm. When 1954 came around, the companies decided to merge (Prince Motor Company and Fuji Precision Industries).

It is noteworthy that in 1966 the Japanese government recommended the creation of large companies that could compete in the international market and oppose foreign manufacturers from entering the local car market. As a result, Nissan teamed up with Prince, just as Toyota teamed up with Hino and Daihatsu.

It turns out that since the 67th year, Prince production has been sold under the Nissan or Datsun brand. Regardless, the Prince division is still active within Nissan and is responsible for the styling of the Skyline.

Interestingly, Nissan Skyline literally means Skyline, Horizon in Japanese.

Skyline ALSI (I generation 1957-1963)

ALSI-1 series. Similar cars were produced in 1957 and 1958 in sedan and station wagon bodies. They used the Prince brand and by Japanese standards the model was a luxury car. A total of 33,759 vehicles were sold. The car had a frankly "pro-American" design and was equipped with a 1.5-liter (1,482 cubic centimeters) GA-30 power plant, which produced 60 horsepower(44 kW).

The number of revolutions reached 4,400 rpm. The model weighed about 1,300 kilograms, and the maximum speed was 140 kilometers per hour. Structurally, the 1st generation Nissan Skyline was quite simple, for example, there was a dependent suspension of the "De Dion" type at the back, where there was a connecting rear wheels light beam and fixed main gear reducer.

When 1958 came, they decided to update the car (ALSI-2), and it turned out in accordance with the latest American fashion 4 headlights and the GA-4 power plant, which had an OHV valve mechanism. The volume was slightly increased to 1,484 cubic centimeters, but the power increased to 70 horsepower (52 kW).

The ALSI-2 series was much the same as the debut version, except for a different bonnet badge and a single large horizontal bar on the grille. In addition, starting in 1962, the coupe and convertible began to be assembled by hand, which were named BLRA-3.

The car had an Italian stylish design from Giovanni Michelotti and a 1.9-liter 96-horsepower (72 kW) GB-30 power unit. They produced 60 of these models in just a couple of years. The huge cost is to blame (almost 2 times more expensive than the production version of "Skyline"). Together with other reasons, they decided to stop the production of cars, so they decided to bet on the next S 50-E series, which received a more modest price tag.

Skyline S50 (II generation 1963-1968)

The Prince Skyline S50-E was released in 1963 and was produced until 1968 as a sedan (S50) and station wagon (W50). The novelty had a new four-cylinder "engine" G1, with a volume of 1,484 cubic centimeters and 70 horsepower. If we compare the vehicle with its progenitor, then the car had a more angular shape.

The second generation Nissan Skyline has four round marker lights, which became the "brand" designation for Skyline, which remained unchanged for many families up to the R34 version. This version has a couple of large round brake lights and a couple of smaller turn signals.

Nissan Skyline II generation came in two versions - a three-speed gearbox and a sportier four-speed transmission. The latter version received sports seats to once again to highlight its own character, and the version with a 3-speed box was equipped with seats only in front. When 1967 came, the C50 series was replaced by the C57 series, equipped with the latest power unit G15.

He received a volume of 1,483 cc, four cylinders and 88 horsepower. This motor was the most powerful in Japan at the time. In total, about 114,238 cars were sold. In 1964, Prince decided to create the Skyline GT racing car, which will receive the 6-cylinder G-7 engine from the Gloria S40. As a result, the wheelbase was increased by 200 millimeters, and a special mount for the six-cylinder "engine" was also organized.

Initially, only a modest number of these cars were produced for participation in GT-class competitions, which is why they became very popular. The company's management decided to launch the vehicle into serial production. As a result, the final model gave rise to the S54 series and was named Skyline 2000GT.

It was released in two versions. The GT-A was equipped with a G7 engine with a single 105 horsepower carburetor. The GT-B version came with three 40DCOE-18 Weber carburetors, a 5-speed gearbox with gear ratios, 99-liter fuel tank, full toolkit, limited slip differential, brake booster and high compression powertrain.

Both versions featured front disc brakes with 2-piston calipers and rear alloy drum brakes. Cars that were produced later received airflow through the ventilation with small window ball vents that were added to the dashboard. Only the GT-B model was used for the competition.

The result of the races was as follows: the "Japanese" was able to finish the race in 2nd place, almost overtaking the victorious Porsche 904GTS model, which was almost complete racing car... Such a result simply could not help but surprise, given that the Japanese model was a four-door sedan. The C54 was produced until 1968, so it served as the foundation for the legendary Skyline.

Skyline С10 (III generation 1968-1972)

The 1500 series, which replaced the C50 in the summer (July) 1968, were produced until 1972. The vehicles were produced in two body versions - a 4-door sedan and a station wagon. They had a G15 power plant from the C57. The same car, but with a G18 engine, was sold under the 1800 index. Such cars were mostly used by Prince elements and were the last Skyline produced under the Prince brand. All other versions of the Skyline were renamed the Nissan Skyline.

Skyline 2000GT (GC10 series). Exactly, like all other variants of the C10 derivative series, the GC10 (G-installed in the GT) was mainly designed by Prince employees, despite the fact that these cars already had their name Nissan Skyline 2000GT. Vehicle introduced in 1968 (2 months after the 1,500 line) and was initially produced in 2 versions - a 4-door sedan (GC10) and a 5-door hatchback.

After 1970, the coupe (KGC10) was also produced. The car was almost the same as the previous version of the S54 GT-A, which was equipped with a six-cylinder engine instead of the previous four-cylinder. The two thousandth version had an L20 power unit, which received a volume of 1 998 cm³ and 105 horsepower.

Skyline 2000GT-R (PGC-10 line). Already in 1968 the company presented to the public a new 1,500 series and a version comparable to the previous GT-A (GC10 series). However, the public was waiting for a replacement for the GT-B. We had to wait almost a year when a new model appeared - in 1969 the GT-R was released.

It was the newly minted Nissan Skyline GT-R that was ready to write world history.

The new Skyline 2000GT-R received an S20 power unit with a displacement of 1,998 cm³, which produced 160 "horses", which was comparable to the Porsche 911 (the German was also produced at that time). This powerplant was almost the same as the GR8 for the Nissan R380 racing version, which was able to win the third Japanese GP in 1966, ahead of the Porsche Carrera 6.

Since the model was intended for the racetrack, the PHC10 was a lightweight model that did not have a heater and radio, however, with outside was similar to any other four-door sedan. Two years later, the GT-R coupe variant was introduced in March 1971. Thanks to the shortened wheelbase and lighter weight, maneuverability is improved when compared to the 4-door variant.

The novelty continued the racing pedigree of previous versions and achieved 33 victories in a year and a half of participation in races, which continued with 50 victories of the KPGC-10. In 1972, they decided to stop the production of these machines.

Skyline C110 (IV generation 1972-1977)

A couple of basic versions were envisaged - 1600GT and 1800GT. The two versions possessed derivatives of the G15, G16 (1.6l) and G 18 (1.8l) engines, respectively. In total, the Nissan Skyline C110 sold 539,727 cars, which is a lot. The third version was called 2000GT-X and was compared with the C10 2000GT.

Such a car had an improved version of the L20 power plant, producing 130 horsepower instead of 109 of the past. The most powerful machine on the list was the 2000 GT-R, which had an unchanged version of the S20 engine with 160 hooves.

Like its predecessor, the car could go in a coupe and four-door sedan. A total of 197 examples were produced, which were considered the last to carry the letters GT-R for more than a decade. It is noteworthy that they were not used for sports races.

Skyline С210 (V generation 1977-1981)

During the entire production period, 539,727 vehicles were sold. Abroad, the models, as before, were sold under Datsun brand... Like the third generation Nissan Skyline, the C210 series was released in 4 versions. It is worth noting that due to the fuel crisis and stricter emission requirements, the GT-R version was withdrawn from production and instead of the top version, the Skyline 2000GT-ES (KGC211) model appeared.

The vehicle appeared in the spring (April) of 1980 and had a new turbo version of the L20, called the L20ET, which produced 140 horsepower. Such a power plant lost in power to the GT-R, however, in the role of contrast to the C20, it was able to meet emission standards and launched a new stage in Skyline's history - the first turbocharged engine.

The standard modifications were named 1600TI and 1800TI, which received L16 and L18 engines, respectively, instead of the previous power units of the "G" divisions. Old model 2000GT-X "lost" X, and received the name 2000GT, which had an unchanged L20 engine with a capacity of 130 "horses".

Skyline R30 (VI generation 1981-1985)

In 1981, the Nissan Skyline R30 was introduced to the public, which was built on the C31 Laurel platform. The new sixth generation Nissan Skyline brought with it a new company policy. "Six" significantly differed from the previous produced cars, the car became lighter, larger and returned to sports competitions.

All car models, in addition to the station wagon, had round rear lights, which served as a distinctive element of the Skyline. The top versions of the Skyline R30 could be adjusted for the stiffness of the suspension, and while driving. Until the end of the 20th century, all other Skyline families received the designation R3X.

It was the Nissan Skyline R30 that became the first mass-produced car in Japan with adjustable suspension while driving.

New versions came out in August 1981 and came in five different models. Their appearance was angular. Many experts say the company has stepped back to Skyline's sporting past. These models had new engines, instead of the previously installed L16. These were six-cylinder 2000GT and 2800GT engines.

Following the way Japanese company decided not to release the GT-R, the Skyline line did not have a single DOHC engine (a motor with 2 camshafts mounted at the top). When the oil crisis ended, turbocharged cars were born, however, DOHC was not yet used.

Especially for this, it was decided to release the RS Skyline in October 1981. The car could be bought in sedan and coupe bodies. It was equipped with two two-liter FJ0E engines, which developed 150 horsepower. The power plant was designed specifically for competition. In 1983, the "engine" was improved by installing a turbine.

As a result, the power unit was called FJ20ET (T- stands for the installed turbine), producing 190 horsepower. A little later, it was upgraded to 205 "mares" by introducing an intercooler. This model became known as the RS-X or Turbo C. It was not only the most powerful version of the Skyline at the time, but also the most successful racing car.

Skyline R31 (VII generation 1985-1989)

Due to the fact that the R30 line was very popular, the management of the Japanese company decided to leave appearance almost the same as the previous generation, so the R31 series was similar to the R30. The vehicle only debuted in a four-door body. Due to the prevalence of exquisite cars and Skyline began to have expensive finishes, and seemed to have missed the "sports" inspiration.

The standard car at that time was considered to be 1800l, which used a four-cylinder CA 18 engine with a volume of 1.8 liters. This "engine" developed 100 horsepower. However, the R31 also introduced a new family of engines - the RB20 powerplant found in the Passage GT.

Separately, we can highlight the RB20DET, which is a two-liter six-cylinder in-line turbocharged DOHC engine that develops 180 "hooves" at 6,400 rpm. It was the debut in the huge family of RB26DETT motors. It was used in later GT-Rs and other Skyline models up to the P34 line.

GTS Coupe. Buyers were tuned in to the R31 coupe version until the GTS surprised showrooms in May 1986. This two-seater car had an RB20DET engine from the Passage GT. When 1988 came, this car was renamed the GTS-X and received an upgraded version of the RB20DET, which gave 190 horsepower.

Among the important functions in the new product is the installation of HICAS (rear wheel steering system), which was first installed in the Skyline. Such electronics are still used on the top-end machines of the current Skyline. Thanks to such a system, the controllability of the car is significantly improved.

The most common version of the GTS, called the GTS-R, is specially designed for competition. The power of 180 "hooves" in the basic version, although they were not children's toys, however, were still outperformed by the 205 "horses" of the RS-X R30. Based on this, the management decided to release the GTS-R Skyline R31 in 1987 with the RB20DET engine, which provided 210 horsepower.

This has been achieved thanks to the turbocharger and exhaust manifolds. In addition, Japanese specialists tweaked the engine, and a large number of other parts of the car were tuned, which provided the GTS-R with a more sporty character. A limited number of such vehicles were produced - 200 copies.

Skyline R32 (VIII generation 1989-1993)

With the onset of 1989, the Skyline P32 series was updated. All of its many representatives have received improved sporting qualities and a finely tuned chassis. The car was produced in sedan and two-seater coupe. In addition, for the first time, the Japanese decided to produce an all-wheel drive version of the GT-R.

It was decided to remove the old line of power plants from production, so it turns out that the cars had a two-liter ordinary six-cylinder 155-horsepower RB20DE engine. More “sporty” versions, such as the GTS-t, had an RB20DET power unit, which was placed under the hood of the GTS-R R31, however, it had an increased power up to 212 “horses”.

Later, modifications appeared with a 2.5-liter 180-horsepower DOHC RB25DE. After the last version of the GT-R was released, the new Skyline GT-R model appeared in 1989. For obvious reasons, many expected a lot from the new product due to the wonderful legacy that everyone had in mind. However, this car turned out to be the worst of all GT-Rs.

In those days it was considered very difficult to repeat PGC10's achievement on the track until the new Skyline R32 GT-R came out, which quickly earned the nickname Godzilla. The new Skyline GT-R was only in the form of a 2-seater coupe and used a whole list of high technologies designed to improve the smoothness of the ride.

It was in the GT-R that they decided to use the ATTESA system, which controls the all-wheel drive system of the car. ATTESA was taught to transfer the rotating forces from the rear wheels to the front wheels at the moments when it is needed. Thanks to this it was possible to "drift", which was very difficult to do with AWD.

After that, a new version of the proprietary rear wheel steering system, Super-HICAS, was introduced, which allowed this car to be one of the best, if not the best in the world. "Japanese" possessed not only excellent handling characteristics, but also had one of the most advanced engines - RB25DETT, which received a volume of 2.6 liters, DOHC, twin turbine and 280 "horses".

Such a powerplant was a purely racing engine, produced only for competition, due to Japanese conditions to contain the maximum power of 280 horsepower. If we speak for the modernized versions, then their power could reach 1,300 horsepower. It's worth noting that even the base cars hit 60 mph in just 4.8 seconds, which is comparable to the Ferrari 355.

The novelty was not positioned for street competitions. It was developed for the Japanese "Group A" racing regulations. Racing is where the GT-R excelled. Many drivers were able to win a large number of races, which is why they decided to cancel this class, since no one wanted to compete with the leading version of Nissan.

Skyline R33 (IX generation 1993-1998)

R33SkylineGT-R. The R33 line was very similar to the previous model, the R32. The "machine" was sporty, although its dimensions and weight increased a little and it became less agile. The increased weight was compensated by the power unit - a brand new 2.5-liter RB25 with 6 cylinders, which developed 190 "horses".

The engine was installed in the GTS 4 and GTS25. For the GTS25t, a more powerful RB25DET was envisaged, already producing 255 horsepower. The heavy baggage fell on the R33's after it was introduced in 1995. The previous version was quite successful (almost invincible), and no one believed that the new GT-R could change the R32 lineup for the better.

Surprisingly, the new R33 Skyline GT-R outperformed the previous model in almost every way, despite the added weight. Under the hood, a 280-horsepower RB26DETT engine was installed, which had a wider torque range, designed to make the motor more flexible. In addition, the novelty was equipped with the modernized ATTESA-ETS and SUPER-HICAS systems.

NISMO 400R and GT-RLM... NISMO is a division of Nissan Motorsports that is responsible for cars specialized for racing in the class of the past "Group A" - JGTC (All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship) - the national racing competition in Japan. Due to the fact that the power of the motors in the country was limited to 280 horsepower, the most accurate adjustment of the power plant was required to win, since it was very difficult to win in a different way.

Nissan Skyline GT-R LM GT1

In the winter (February) of 1996, Japanese specialists produce the 400R version, which is a limited edition car (only 99 cars). Skyline competed in the 24/7 GT1 Le Mans endurance races in 1955 and 1996. It turns out that Nissan introduced the GT-R LM and 400R as "road" models of racing cars.

An improved version of the RB26DETT engine was responsible for their agility. The LM model was equipped with a 305-horsepower engine, and the 400R - a 400-horsepower one. It's a shame, but only one GT-R LM was built to compete. Today this vehicle is located in the museum. On top of that, the 400P had an enlarged RB26DETT engine with a displacement of almost 3 liters - the RBX-GT2.

There were a pair of turbines and 400 horsepower at 6,800 rpm. The engine compartment power could not but affect the exterior of the car. We can note the presence of large wheels and wider spoilers, wheel arches, a lower fit. All this made it possible to improve their appearance when comparing the "cars" with the rather nondescript standard GT-R.

The four-door GT-R Autech. "Autotech" is a subsidiary of Nissan, which specializes in tuning cars. This car was a four-door version of the GT-R R33, which was released in a limited edition especially for the 40th anniversary of the Nissan Skyline.

The car received all the basic GT-R systems and bucket-type seats. It turns out that it was the same GT-R, only more practical. NISMO also produced a tuned GT-R Autech equipped with a spoiler from the NISMO 400R and a 380 hp engine. Such a novelty was very attractive during its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show.

Skyline R34 (X generation 1998-2000)

To some people, the R33 line seemed too massive, and many of them thought that the R32 was the best Skyline. Considering these wishes, the Japanese company decided to release new nissan Skyline R34. The new line was more focused on representatives of the P32 than on its immediate predecessor. As a result, they created a car that turned out to be sportier than the models of the P33 line.

Skyline GTR R34 exterior

The exterior of the vehicle is simply excellent, there is aggressiveness that many motorists liked. The front of the car has an embossed bonnet, aggressive narrow halogen optics and a small grille between the headlights. Front bumper turned out to be large and aerodynamic.

It has a black lip, small air intakes and separate turn signals. The drag coefficient of the Nissan Skyline coupe was 0.38. V-Spec racing cars could be distinguished by their lower ride height (height ground clearance was below).

The side section has slightly flared wheel arches and a beveled rear arch that looks a little out of the box. Introduced a small embossing in the lower part and in the middle, however, in the middle it represents a simple line. In 2000, the V-Spec 2 was launched, which featured a carbon fiber hood that was lighter than the previous version's aluminum hood.

The rear has four halogen round headlights. In addition, you can see a small cover luggage compartment with a massive spoiler. The trunk lid received a small brake light repeater. On a large, embossed aft bumper, large rear running lights were installed, and a branch pipe was located under a modest diffuser. exhaust system.

In general, the appearance of the Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 has become more rigid, bright and youthful. Previously, the "Japanese" was produced only in the version of the coupe body, but now sedans began to appear, which differed from the previous models only by the branded round taillights.

Skyline R34 interior

Interior decoration car nissan Skyline R34 looks really sporty. For example, there are sports-type forgings that do an excellent job of keeping the driver and passenger in a corner. There is more or less free space in the front, but you should definitely not expect a high level of convenience.

You need to tune in to a tough driving style. Auto has five seats, so there are 3 people in the back, but again there is not much free space. The owner is presented with a semi-sports three-spoke steering wheel.

The dashboard, according to current trends, is simple and has large analog gauges for the speedometer, engine speed, fuel level and engine temperature. The first thing that catches your eye inside the Nissan Skyline is the display with a diagonal of exactly 5.8 inches. Looking at the monitor, you can see information about the current engine temperature, oil and intercooler condition.

V-Spec versions allow you to display a graph of longitudinal and lateral acceleration and temperature of the intercooler. On the center console, you can see the design "poor" by modern parameters. At the top there is a regular radio tape recorder, which is no longer found on most cars, and below there is a climate control unit, which was designed like a radio tape recorder.

Below there is a section for small things, an ashtray and a cigarette lighter. The tunnel has a large transmission selector, a small box for small items and a correctly set parking brake handbrake. Salon Nissan Skyline R34 has a simple dark upholstery and hard plastic, is modest and a little ascetic.

The cars released at a later time already had a leather interior and many additional options, which include a Nismo dashboard and a Sparco Champion Limited Edition steering wheel with a quick release mechanism.

Specifications Nissan Skyline R34

Fans could love the RB26DETT powerplant, which, with a boost pressure of 1 bar, develops 280 horsepower and 392 Nm of torque. The volume of the turbocharged system RB26DETT was 2.6 liters. Since 2002, Japanese specialists have demonstrated the NUR4 version. The word NUR is an abbreviation for Nürburgring - such a car is capable of accelerating up to 300 kilometers per hour.

It is worth noting that only 1,000 models of this kind were produced. In addition to excellent dynamics, Skyline stands out for its tenacity to the roadway. The vehicle is both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

All-wheel drive technology Attesa E-TS in the standard position transfers 75 percent of the rotational forces to the rear wheels, however, when slipping or drifting, the center differential is blocked and the rotational forces are divided between the axles in a 50/50 ratio. With the help of the special HICAS system, in emergency modes the rear wheels turn at a small angle, which significantly increases the speed of cornering.

Despite the fact that the Skyline line itself is associated with truly hurricane motors, there are also models with more modest characteristics. For example, the same RB2ODE boasts a volume of two liters and 155 hp.

The transmission for the Nissan Skyline R34 is a four-speed automatic and six-speed manual GETRAG. The most "nimble" of the basic Skyline is the Skyline Nismo Z-Tune. The model has a 2.8-liter 500-horsepower power unit with a torque of 540 Nm at 5,200 rpm.

Nismo's workers assured that this power plant could easily develop 630 "horses", however, then it would be necessary to clean the exhaust system. The exhaust sound of the Nismo Z-Tune meets the standards for the sound of an exhaust system. A total of 20 copies were produced.

When the car picks up speed, the person is simply pulled into the seat by an overload of 1.59g, and if you brake sharply, the driver reaches windshield with an effort of 2g. Proceeding from this, it follows that it is simply necessary to buckle up on such a car. Up front, the Nismo has 365mm brake discs, and the brake pads are pressed against the brake disc using six brake cylinders.

The first hundred is reached in 4.9 seconds, and the maximum speed is 250 kilometers per hour. Stylish, lightweight and compact car Nissan Skyline GTR R34 can give odds even to recognized leaders in their niche. Even not the most top-end "machine" has a number of advantages, among which are four-wheel drive, a six-speed manual gearbox GETRAG, a six-cylinder Twin Turbo engine that produces 327 horsepower with a maximum torque of 4,400 rpm.

On top of that, there is an independent multi-link suspension, a stiffer chassis. I would like to note that just the 1999 modification, the standard model of which was the GT-R, with a 2.6-liter 322-horsepower RB26DETT engine, which has a twin-turbo supercharger, was recognized as the most popular in this line.

Skyline V35 (XI generation 2000-2007)

The next generation, the V35, was introduced in the summer of 2000 and was the first to be created after the merger of two companies - Nissan and. As the basis of the new model, the FM platform was used, like that of the Nissan 350Z. The changes compared to the previous family were very serious - instead of inline power units of the RB line, V-shaped VQs were installed.

In addition, no car was turbocharged, and no more GT-R version was produced. All cars came with rear-wheel drive, and the sedan version had four-wheel drive. It was the Nissan Skyline V35 Coupe that was the first Skyline car to be officially delivered to the United States market.

It is important to mention that in the USA a similar model was sold under a slightly different name - the Infiniti G35. But there were simply no other differences besides the name and emblem - they were two identical cars.

Exterior Skyline V35

On the outside, the exterior of the fresh Skyline was obviously different. Initially, Japanese specialists decided to change the design of the headlights. As a result, the front optics follow the lines of the front arch and go back to the body pillars. Changes have also been made to the bumper, which has become more streamlined.

Together with the bumper, the radiator grille was modified, which became wider and was now decorated with chrome. It is hard not to notice that the appearance of the Nissan Skyline V35 was no longer sporty and aggressive. Rather, it is a more elegant and luxurious car. The car, after a while, looks good to this day. Separately, you can highlight the coupe version.

Skyline V35 interior

The interior decoration is more close to the business class, therefore, it will not work to call it aggressive and sporty, just like the exterior. They decided to paint the interior in calm dark colors, where there is a pleasant finish "like aluminum". The driver is presented with a three-spoke steering wheel with adjustments.

The chairs are moderately rigid and have an electric drive and a heating function. The center console received a radio tape recorder and a climate control unit. "Tidy" turned out to be a pointer and does not glare in the sun, and is well read at night. It is important to note that a large number of Japanese cars are right-hand drive vehicles.

For fans of standard versions, please refer to the American version of Infiniti. Inside there is room for cup holders, as well as a center armrest, ashtrays and more. All controls are correctly installed. Interestingly, when you tune the steering wheel, the dashboard moves.

The trim level is pleasant enough. There is climate control, a color display, a navigator, beige suede upholstery, an audio system, and four airbags. The salon is distinguished by good noise insulation, high-quality acoustics and comfortable seats.

The assemblies of the interior are at a high level, the plastic is pleasant to the touch, the leather on the chairs does not crack. Despite this, it is still necessary to pay attention to the seats. The disadvantages include a low roof, which is clearly visible on the second row of seats. There is plenty of free space ahead, the landing itself is comfortable, and the visibility is above all praise.

Specifications Skyline V35

On the 11th generation of the Japanese car, only gasoline engines V-type. The base is the 2.5-liter VQ25DD power plant, designed for 215 "horses". Ultimate torque at 270 Nm. This "engine" was installed on mono- and all-wheel drive Skyline modifications.

Next on the list is the 3.0-liter 6-cylinder 260-horsepower engine, which already develops 324 Nm of torque. Top configurations Nissan Skyline V35 had 3.5-liter VQ35DE engines. It is worth noting that their power could be different.

The four-door sedan came with a 272-horsepower engine (343 Nm), and the coupe version with a 280-horsepower unit (353 Nm). On all engines there is a higher compression ratio than on the "engines" in the 34 body. In addition, the engines have a new system for adjusting the opening time and height. exhaust valves and another piston. Power plants already from the factory can “spin up” up to 7,500 rpm.

Regardless of which engine is installed, Skyline leaves only positive emotions from driving. The weakest motor allows you to accelerate to 100 km / h in just 6.2 seconds, and the top speed does not exceed 204 km / h. Most powerful engine accelerates to 240 km / h, and the first hundred is reached in 5.9 seconds.

Such agility leads to a substantial consumption of gasoline. Based on the passport data, the model "eats" from 10.3-17.5 liters for every 100 kilometers, depending on the driving mode. However, if you look at reality, then such an "engine" can "ask" for 20 liters of the 95th brand. The volume of the tank is the same on all versions of the 11th generation - 75 liters.

It is also possible to achieve such speed and quick acceleration with the help of an improved transmission, which is represented here by a 5-speed "automatic" capable of operating in the "kick-down" mode. The gearbox has a DS mode, which allows revving up to 7,500.

5-speed gearbox

In addition to this, the transmission has a manual gearshift mode. For this, a selector and paddle shifters are provided. The Japanese-made novelty was assembled, taking into account the universal FM platform, on which they assembled Infiniti crossover FX. The advantages of the "trolley" are that it allows the power unit to be located in the wheelbase, which improves weight distribution.

An independent suspension was installed for the front and rear wheels. The car stands out for its good ride and maneuverability. Based on the feedback from the owners of the Nissan Skyline B35, the car enters the turns without difficulty.

Skyline V36 (XII generation 2006-2014)

The twelfth version of the Nissan Skyline was officially presented in November 2006. Initially, the update only affected the sedan version, and the coupe was produced in the previous V35 body. The new coupe was released in July 2007. In the United States, the model is marketed as the Infiniti G35. The changes for the V35 were mostly external. The all-wheel drive system remained only in the sedan version.

Next comes the 250GT FOUR with the same engine, but with an all-wheel drive system. The 350GT version closes the line of Japanese cars, which under the hood has a 3.5-liter six-cylinder V-shaped power unit VQ35HQ, which develops 310 "horses" (232 kW, 358 N / m).

For the US market, Infiniti cars come in 5 trim levels and only with a 3.5-liter 6-cylinder engine with 306 horsepower (228 kW). Only the G35x AWD version, which has an all-wheel drive system, differs slightly. The car is in the back of a coupe, under the hood has a 3.7-liter 330-horsepower "engine" and 366 N / m of torque (246 kW).

Video review

In honor of the Emperor of Japan Hirohito, Tama was renamed to Prince motor company and started producing cars with gasoline engines instead of electric. Prince used an engine developed by specialists Fuji Precision Industries which was created by an aviation company Nakajima... In 1954, two companies merged: Prince motor company and Fuji Precision Industries.

Another important event in skyline stories happened in 1966, when the Japanese government recommended the creation of large companies that would be more competitive in international markets and could more effectively resist attempts by foreign manufacturers to enter the local car market.

Consequently, Nissan merges with Prince, similar to Toyota teamed up with Hino and Daihatsu... Thus, since 1967, production Prince sold under the brands Nissan or Datsun... Despite this, the branch Prince still exists in the corporation Nissan and is responsible for the style Skyline.

First generation Nissan Skyline (I)

ALSI Series - 1
The ALSI-1 series was produced from 1957 to 1958 in two body types - sedan and station wagon. Used GA30 - 1500 cc. 4 linear motor, with a capacity of 60 h.p. with a speed of 4400 rpm.

1957 skyline1500 ALSI-S1m

ALSI Series - 2
1958 saw the introduction of the ALSI-2 series, which lasted until 1963. The car was basically the same as its predecessor, with the exception of a different bonnet emblem and a single large, horizontal bar on the grille. There were also four new headlights instead of two as in the ALSI-1 series and a new GA4 engine with 70 hp.

1960 skyline1500 ALSI-D2

BLRA Series - 3 by Michelotti
In 1961, the production of a limited series of hand-assembled Skyline Sport cars of the new BLRA-3 series, designed by the Italian Michelotti, began. The car is produced in two versions - a coupe and a convertible and is equipped with a 4-cylinder GB4 engine with a volume of 1862 cubic centimeters and a power of 94 hp. This car had a very stylish design, but on the other hand it was very expensive for its time. So, unfortunately, its production was stopped. The abandonment was made in favor of the next S 50-E series, which was much cheaper to manufacture.

Second generation Nissan Skyline (II)

S 50 - E Series
The Prince Skyline S50-E appeared in 1963 and was assembled until 1968 in two types: sedan (S50) and station wagon (W50). A new, 4-cylinder G1 engine with a capacity of 1484 cc was used. and a power of 70 hp. Compared to its predecessor, it had a more angular shape. S50 was equipped with 4 round parking lights... This became the "trademark" of the Skyline, which remained unchanged for many generations until the R34 series. This series was already equipped with two large round brake lights and two smaller turn signals.

1963 1500 Deluxe S50D

The car was produced in two versions - with a 3-speed gearbox and a more sporty 4-speed gearbox. The latest version was equipped with sports seats to emphasize its sporty character, while the 3-speed version had only one up front. In 1967, the S50 series was replaced by the S57 series, which was powered by the new G15 engine: 1483 cc, 4-cylinder, 88hp. It was the most powerful engine in Japan at the time.

Skyline 2000GT (S 54 Series) - the birth of a legend.
When Prince decided to put the Skyline in competition in 1964, the 4-cylinder engine was replaced by a 1988 cc G7. - 6-cylinder from the S40 Gloria model. To this end, the wheelbase of the S50 has been extended and a special mount has been provided for the 6-cylinder engine.

At first, only a small number of these cars were produced for participation in GT races, which made them very popular. Prince decided to send the car into mass production. The resulting car gave rise to the S54 series and was named the Skyline 2000GT. It was released in two versions.

The GT-A used an unchanged version of the G7 engine with a single carburetor and 105hp. The GT-B version was fitted with three 40DCOE-18 Weber carburetors, 5-speed close-ratio gearbox, 99-liter fuel tank, full tool kit, limited slip differential, brake booster and high compression engine.

Both had front disc brakes with twin-piston calipers and rear alloy drum brakes. Subsequent models received airflow through the vents with small hole ball vents added to the dashboard.

Naturally, only the GT-B version could be used for racing. Finishing 2nd in his first race, 2nd GP in Japan in 1964, he nearly overtook the victorious Porsche 904GTS, which was an all-racing car. This was an incredible achievement considering the Skyline was a four-door sedan. The S54 series was produced until 1968 and with its racing victories laid the foundation for Birth of the Skyline Legend.

Third generation Nissan Skyline (III)

1500 Series
The 1500 Series, which replaced the S50 in July 1968, was produced until 1972. Cars with two body types were produced - a four-door sedan and a station wagon. They were equipped with the G15 engine from the S57. This same car, but with a G18 engine, was marketed as 1800. These cars mostly used Prince parts and were the last Skyline to be produced under the Prince brand. All following Skylines were renamed Nissan Skyline.

1968 1500 Deluxe C10

Skyline 2000GT (GC10 series)
Like all the other variants of the C10 derivative series, the GC10 (G - installed in the GT) was primarily designed by Prince, despite the fact that these cars were called the Nissan Skyline 2000GT.

1968 2000GT GC10

The car was introduced in 1968 (2 months after the 1500 series) and was initially produced in two versions - a four-door sedan (GC10) and a 5-door hatchback, and from 1970 also a coupe (KGC10). The car was much the same as the previous S54 GT-A, equipped with a 6-cylinder engine instead of the previous 4-cylinder. The Skyline 2000GT received a 1998 cc L20 engine. with a capacity of 105hp

1969 2000GT-R PGC-10

Skyline 2000GT-R (PGC-10 series)
1968 saw the light of the new Skyline (1500 series) and a model comparable to the previous GT-A (GC10 series). But people were still expecting a replacement for the GT-B. It was almost a year after the introduction of the new model, when the GT-R finally arrived in February 1969.

This car was ready to write history!

The Skyline 2000GT-R was powered by a 1998 cc S20 engine. and had a capacity of 160hp. - this is comparable to the Porsche 911 - a car of the same time. This engine was essentially the same as the GR8 for the racing Nissan R380, which won the 3rd GP in Japan in 1966 by beating the Porsche Carrera 6.
Since it was intended for racing, the PGC10 (P - introduced by Prince) was very light, without a heater or radio, but from the outside it looked like any other 4-door sedan. After two years, the coupe version of the GT-R (KPGC-10) was introduced in March 1971. The shorter wheelbase and lighter weight provided better maneuverability than the four-door version. The Skyline 2000GT-R continued the racing pedigree of its predecessors and achieved 33 victories in a year and a half in the competition, which was followed by 50 KPGC-10 victories until production was halted in 1972.
Eventually, Skyline became a legend.

C110 series (produced from 1972 to 1977 in four versions).
First, there were two main versions - 1600GT and 1800GT, both used derivatives of the G15, G16 (1.6l) and G18 (1.8l) engines, respectively. The third model, the 2000GT-X, could be comparable to the C10 2000GT. It was powered by an improved version of the 130 hp L20 engine. instead of the earlier 109 hp.
The most powerful of the quartet was the 2000 GT-R, which used the unchanged 160hp version of the S20 engine. Similar to its predecessor, from 1969 the GT-R was available in a coupe (KPGC110) and a 4-door sedan (PGC110).
197 cars were produced, which should have been the last to bear the GT-R symbol for more than a decade. In addition, they have never been used in racing.

Fifth generation Nissan Skyline (V)

The C211 series was released in August 1977 and, like the C110 series, came in four versions. First of all, due to the fuel crisis and the tightening of emission standards, the GT-R was discontinued and instead of the top-end, the Skyline 2000GT-ES (KGC211) model of the series became.
It appeared in April 1980 with a new turbo version of the L20 called the L20ET with 140 hp. This engine was less powerful than the GT-R, but as a contrast to the S20, it arranged the emission standards and put new stage Skyline stories- for the first time the engine was turbocharged.
The base versions were named 1600TI and 1800TI and had L16 and L18 engines, respectively, instead of the previous "G" engines. The old 2000GT-X "lost" X, and was named 2000GT, it retained the unchanged L20 engine, whose power was 130 hp.

start of release lineup R30, Nissan began to change the Skyline specification. Until the end of the century, all subsequent Skyline generations bore the R3X designation.
The new line was released in August 1981 and featured five different models... Their design was significantly different compared to its predecessors, as this new Skyline looked very angular and was much larger than a regular sedan or earlier Skyline. Still, it was a step back - to the sporting roots of Skyline.
The weight of the earlier Skylines increased from version to version, which slowed them down and made them less agile. A new generation of cars put an end to this, although the truly sporty Skyline only hit the road again in 1982.
These versions received new engines to replace the old L16, more powerful, 6-cylinder 2000GT and 2800GT engines.

R30 Skyline RS
After Nissan discontinued the GT-R, there was not a single DOHC (twin overhead camshaft) engine in the Skyline lineup. After the oil crisis, turbo appeared, but DOHC was still missing. The introduction of the RS Skyline was intended to change that in October 1981. It was available in sedan and coupe versions and was powered by the new 150hp FJ20E 2.0-liter engine, which was developed specifically for racing.
In 1983 the engine was improved - a turbine appeared. The final version was named FJ20ET (T stands for turbo), which now produced 190hp. Subsequently, its power was increased to an amazing 205hp. by adding an intercooler.
This Skyline became known as RS-X or Turbo C - not only " the most powerful skyline"of that time, but also a very successful racing car.

Seventh generation Nissan Skyline (VII)

As the R30 series was so popular, Nissan kept the design of its successor, the R31 series, much the same. The car made its debut exclusively in 4-door bodies. Due to the popularity luxury cars and Skyline got expensive finishes, and seemed to have lost its "sporty" orientation. Basic model at the time it was the 1800I, which used a 1.8 liter 4 cylinder CA 18 with 100hp.
But the R31 also kicked off the introduction of a new engine family - the RB20 engines found in the Passage GT. Of particular note is the RB20DET, a two-liter DOHC 6-cylinder in-line turbocharged engine with 180 hp. and from 6400rpm. It was the first in big family RB26DETT engines, which were equipped with later GT-Rs and other Skyline versions up to the R34 series.

GTS Coupe
Consumers anticipated the R31 coupe until the GTS hit showrooms in May 1986. This two-seater got the RB20DET engine from the Passage GT. In 1988, this car was renamed the GTS-X and received an improved version of the RB20DET with 190 hp.
More important in this car was the introduction of the HICAS (Rear Wheel Assist System), for the first time in Skyline history. This system is still in use on top-end versions. modern skyline, which significantly improves vehicle handling.

1987 2000GTS-R KRR31

The most famous of the GTS models was the GTS-R, which was created specifically for racing. The 180 "horses" in the standard version may not have been nonsense, but it was still inferior to 205 hp. RS-X R30. Therefore, Nissan released the GTS-R Skyline R31 in 1987 with an RB20DET engine with 210 hp. This was achieved through a turbocharger and exhaust manifolds.
The engine has been further tuned and many other parts have been tuned to give the GTS-R an even sportier character. Only 200 of these cars were produced - so today, this is a very desirable acquisition.

Eighth generation Nissan Skyline (VIII)

In 1989, the Skyline R32 line was updated - each of its many representatives received an emphasized sporty character and a finely tuned chassis. The car was produced in two bodies - a sedan and a two-seater coupe. In addition, an all-wheel drive version of the GT-R was available for the first time in history.

1989 GT-R BNR32

The old line of engines has been discontinued. Thus, all versions - sedans and two-seater coupes - received the RB20DE - a two-liter inline 6-cylinder engine with 155 hp. More powerful models how the GTS-t came with the RB20DET engine, already known from the GTS-R R31, but with an increased power to 212 hp. Later versions received an RB25DE, 2.5 DOHC engine with 180hp.

1989 GTS-t RCR32

More than a decade after the last GT-R was launched, the new Skyline GT-R finally saw the light of day in 1989. Of course, expectations for the new top model were high due to the great legacy that everyone remembered so well. But this new version turned out to be the worst of all GT-Rs.
Then it seemed impossible for anyone to repeat the success of PGC10`s on the track until the new Skyline R32 GT-R came out, which quickly earned the nickname Godzilla. The Skyline GT-R was only available as a two-seater coupe and used a range of high-tech technologies to keep the ride smooth.
The Skyline GT-R also pioneered the ATTESA system, which controlled the vehicle's four-wheel drive system. ATTESA ( Advanced Total Traction Engineering System for All) - on-demand all-wheel drive system - transmitted torque from the rear wheels to the front ones at those moments when it was necessary (when a signal came from the sensors about the slipping of the rear wheels, up to 50% of the torque was instantly transmitted). Because of this, even drifting became possible, which was very difficult to implement with AWD. Further, a new version of the proprietary rear-wheel steering technology, Super-HICAS, was introduced, which made this car one of the best, if not the best in the whole world.
The GT-R not only had excellent handling characteristics, but it was also equipped with one of the best engines - RB26DETT: 2.6l DOHC twin turbo and 280 horsepower. The RB26DETT is a pure racing engine derived directly from racing, due to Japanese requirements for a maximum power limit of 280 hp. Tuned versions of this engine reached a whopping 1,300 hp! But the standard versions also sprinted to sixty miles per hour in just 4.8 seconds, which puts it on par with the Ferrari 355.
But the GT-R wasn't meant for street racing. It has been designed to meet Japanese "Group A" racing standards. And racing is where Godzilla really shone. He won so many races (all individual races - 29 in total) in Group A that this race class was canceled because no one wanted to compete with Nissan's flagship model anymore.

Ninth generation Nissan Skyline (IX)

The R33 series was very similar to its predecessor, the R32 series. The car was still sporty, although its size and weight increased slightly and became less agile. The increased weight was compensated by the engine - a new RB25, 2.5l. It was a 6-cylinder 190hp engine. installed on the GTS 4 and the GTS25 versions, and the much more powerful RB25DET, 2 with 255hp that worked in the GTS25t.

R33 Skyline GT-R
A heavy burden fell on the R33's when it was introduced in 1995. Its predecessor was very successful (almost invincible) and few thought that new GT-R could improve on the R32 series. Surprisingly, the new R33 Skyline GT-R outperformed old version in almost everything, although there was some excess weight.
It was powered by the RB26DETT engine with a constant 280hp, but had a wider torque range, which was intended to make the engine more flexible. The GT-R was also equipped with improved versions of ATTESA-ETS and Super-HICAS.

NISMO 400R and GT-R LM.
NISMO is a division of Nissan Motorsports responsible for cars designed for racing class of the former "Group A" - JGTC ( All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship) - Japanese national races. Since the engine power for cars in Japan is limited to 280 hp, it is clear that the car with the most accurate engine tuning is the only way to win. Therefore, Nissan released the 400R in February 1996, a car that was produced in a very limited number (only 99 copies).

Skyline raced around the clock GT1 Le Mans endurance races in 1995 and 1996. Thus, Nissan positioned the GT-R LM and 400R as "road" versions of racing cars. They were powered by an improved version of the RB26DETT engine. The GT-R LM was equipped with a 305 hp engine and the 400R with 400 hp. Unfortunately, only one GT-R LM was built for racing. Now this sample is in the museum.
In addition, the 400R received an enlarged RB26DETT engine with a volume of almost three liters - RBX-GT2: two turbines and 400 "horses" at 6,800 rpm. The engine was not the only similarity to the GT-R, although both cars were based on the GT-R R33 V-spec (V stands for Victory in Latin). Whereas the GT-R LM was only equipped with technology designed exclusively for racing cars, the 400R received the improved "road" technology GT-R ATTESA-ETS and so on.

Naturally, the inner strength of both cars is reflected in their design. This and big wheels, and wider spoilers, and wheel arches, and a lower stance, which made them even more gorgeous compared to the rather "gray" standard GT-R.

4-door GT-R Autech
Autech is a Nissan subsidiary specializing in car tuning. The GT-R Autech was a four-door version of the GT-R R33, which was produced in a limited edition specifically to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the Nissan Skyline. The Autech version has received all the standard GT-R technology, as well as vital parts of its interior, such as the bucket seats. So it really was a GT-R - just a lot more practical.

1997 Sedan GT-R Autech Version BCNR33

NISMO also released a tuned version of the GT-R Autech, which was equipped with spoilers from the NISMO 400R and a 380 hp engine. It's not hard to imagine how attractive this car was at its Tokyo Motor Show debut.

Tenth generation Nissan Skyline (X)

To some people, the R33 series seemed oversized, and most of them believed the R32 was the best Skyline. Nissan took this into account when designing the new R34.
The new series focused more on the representatives of the R32 than on its direct predecessor. The result is a car that is even sportier than the R33 series.
with a capacity of 280 hp. Although, there are no compartment versions for the GT-X and 25GT.

Of course, no series could do without the GT. In terms of technology, the top end of the R34 series is an evolution of the old GT R33, but with a much sharper design and a really improved chassis.
This makes it the best GT Skyline ever made and compared to others sports cars, one of the fastest cars in the world. This GT has set a record in circuit racing for production vehicles The Nurburgring Northloop, the most difficult track in the world, held it until the arrival of the Porsche 996 Turbo. In addition, he has won several JGTC championships.

Nissan GT-R (2008)

Starting in 2008, Nissan renamed the "Skyline GT-R" simply "GT-R". This is partly due to marketing considerations, partly technical: if up to the R34 Skyline GT-R was essentially an improved Skyline, now the GT-R is a completely independent car.
