Let's start with the fact that the engines "clones" G4KD (THAETA II) and 4B11 are built on the architecture of the Global Engine Alliance - the Alliance created by Corporations Chrysler, Mitsubishi and Hyundai, but at the initiative of Hyundai. Each company introduced some adjustments to their brand, but the architecture remained uniform. The main part of the development was carried out by Hyundai.

The motor is completely aluminum, contains four valves per cylinder, two camshafts in the cylinder head (DOHC), as well as a system for changing the phase distribution with electronically control Mivec (intake and release). In total, four cars were found in Minsk (in two cases, the knocks were already "on hot"), of which three cars eventually took part in our "disassembly". Also invited the owners of two cars with a mileage of 70.000 and 140.000 km, which were not complained about the knocks.

By the way, it was almost a month ago a car was diagnosed, the internal content of the engine of which was shown at the beginning of the article.

The first inspected car of 2011 was already driving 87,000 km. Purchased new in the Belarusian dealer, after which was operated by one owner. After the end of the warranty, the stuffs "on the cold" appeared. Over time, they were present and after the engine warming, the truth is noticeably quieter. At the same time, small vibrations began to be felt before warming the motor.

The owner of the day before the experiment visited the KIA official dealer service station. The endoscope of the "official" was not found, but the mechanics on the hearing were determined that in the cylinders of the jackets. They say, this is a well-known problem, you need to open the engine and change the cylinder block worth about $ 4,000.

The owner claims that it goes well, the first kilometers presses the "gas" carefully. The car is serviced at the dealer in a timely manner. Moreover, he even reduced the interval from 15,000 to 10.000-12.000 km. In Carter, then the oil, which is recommended by our dealer, is Motul 8100 5W30.

The next car is 2011. Also bought in Minsk. At the moment, the mileage is 109.000 km, the warranty is over. The owner is concerned about the knocking "on the cold". The car was serviced on time, in the frost, a short time he warmed up, driving style calm. Total and Zic 5W30 oils were used. The dealer stopped serviced after the third that.

By the way, pay attention to the ends of the candle housing. It is in the second and third candles that carbon deposits are noticeable. So, if you have suspicion of jackets in G4KD, but there is no endoscope, you can try to unscrew the candles and look at the ends of the case. Black sediments will say that in the cylindropional group is not all right.
