The developers and designers of the 2018 novelty decided to leave the car's interior practically untouched. As in the previous version, there is enough space inside the car for a comfortable journey, and the trim itself is made of high-quality and expensive materials.
The new seats boast deeper backs and high lateral support. The second row, with separate backrests for each of the three passengers, folds down, increasing the boot volume to 1,642 liters.

Moreover, the exterior has not undergone any direct cardinal changes, such as the new "Tiguan", which looks like a greeting from the future. The only difference between the new 2018 Volkswagen Touareg and the concept T-Prime is the size. For the concept, they are 506x200x171 cm, for the Tuareg they will, on average, be 10 cm less.

That is, they can be pressed without even looking, setting, for example, climate control.
True, one problem arose here, when at the exhibition a question to the manager was asked by the Russians - how can you operate the interactive panel if you are wearing gloves? Unfortunately, the Germans did not satisfy our curiosity, but they conceived it. It is likely that by the time the serial Volkswagen Touareg is released in 2018, this problem will find its solution.
But on the other hand, the interior trim did not raise any questions - soft but durable eco-leather, wooden and aluminum trim elements, comfortable seat height, spaciousness, thanks to which the rear passengers do not feel like on a balcony in a theater.

Consumption in general is somehow unique with such rather immodest capacities - T-Prime consumes only 2.7 liters of gasoline for every hundred in mixed mode, while accelerating to 100 km / h in just 6.1 seconds. The maximum speed is 224 km / h. The electric motor runs 50 km without recharging.
And what about the diesel after last year's scandal? They did not refuse him either. As Martin Hube said, there are a number of countries that prefer heavy fuel, so we cannot refuse to release it. They will naturally meet all environmental requirements.
According to the characteristics - a turbocharged diesel engine with a volume of 3.0 liters, with a capacity of 204 liters. with. Maximum speed 20 km / h, average consumption in mixed mode 6.6 liters. Acceleration to hundreds in 8.5 seconds. The diesel engine was equipped with a special catalytic converter, which reduces fuel consumption by an average of 0.5 liters.

For the 3rd generation Volkswagen Tuareg, a transmission with a mechanical center differential is not available, now there is no "lowering", no blocking rear differential... So goodbye to the off-road version of the Touareg, but the new generation of the crossover will still be able to storm a 60 percent climb, tow a trailer full weight up to 3500 kg.
However, it is understandably not worth talking about the complete lack of off-road qualities of the new product, especially if the manufacturer offers an Off-Road package as an option, which implies the presence of additional driving modes on rough terrain (Off-Road Auto, Sand, Gravel and Off-Road Expert ) increased to 90 liters fuel tank(standardly designed for 75 liters) and reinforced underbody protection.

Such an abundance in the basic version of the new Volkswagen Tuareg should not be expected. In the presence of the usual dashboard, a multimedia system with a modest-sized color screen, two-zone climate control, fabric upholstery… in a word, democratic, but, of course, not cheap.
In all versions of the new crossover, the rear seats move along the passenger compartment by 160 mm, and the separate backrests change the angle of inclination to a maximum value of 21 degrees.
