Motor for 469 models

Engines for UAZ 31514 are available in several versions. By type of fuel, they are divided into gasoline and diesel. Many characteristics of the car, including fuel consumption, depend on what engines are installed on the UAZ.

For example, a UAZ gasoline engine of the ICE 210.10 type with a volume of 2.4 liters has the following characteristics: power - 91 liters. with., fuel consumption - almost 12 liters per 100 km. UMZ 4178.10 engines of the same volume have 87 horses and fuel consumption increases by one and a half liters.

General characteristics of engines

The main suppliers of engines for UAZs are the Ulyanovsk Motor Plant and the Zavolzhsky Motor Plant. UMP became famous for being practically the only manufacturer of engines for off-road vehicles in Russia. All modern engines produced from the assembly line of the plant meet Euro-4 standards.

ZMZ produces more than 80 different modifications of motors ranging from 2.2 to 4.6 liters. The units of this plant are installed both on small SUVs and on buses of domestic and foreign companies.

There are other types of engines that are installed on UAZ 31514 vehicles:

  • UMP 4218.10 with a volume of 2.8 liters (gasoline);
  • ZMZ 410.10 with a volume of 2.9 liters (gasoline);
  • UMP 420 with a volume of 2.4 liters (gasoline);
  • ZMZ 514 with a volume of 2.2 liters (diesel);
  • Andoria 4CT90 with a volume of 2.4 liters (diesel).

The Andoria engine installed on UAZ 31514, Iveco and UAZ Patriot vehicles is produced not in Russia, but in Poland. These engines are in demand not only at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant. They are also installed on other Russian-made machines.

Base motor UMZ 421.10 for UAZ

The base engine UMZ 421.10 with a carburetor system, having a volume of 2.9 liters, runs on gasoline. Has a gas exhaust system. It can operate at temperatures from -50 to +50 degrees Celsius. The 4218.10 unit became a modification of such a motor.

The main difference between the UMP 4218.10 lies in the gas exhaust system, which is not tuned. This simplifies the installation of the engine on UAZ vehicles, even with a wagon-type body. Currently, motors of this series have several modifications.

UAZ 39626 and Patriot motors

The UAZ 39629 vehicle, in other words "sanitary", is most often used to transport patients and is available in most medical centers. It is widely used both in metropolitan areas and in rural areas. These machines are equipped with three different engines.

  1. ZMZ-402.
  2. UMZ-4178, similar in characteristics to the first, differ only in manufacturers. These motors have a displacement of 2.4 liters and a power of 92 horsepower.
  3. UMP 4218 with a volume of 2.8 liters and 98 liters. with. under the hood.

UAZ Patriot cars are equipped with a four-cylinder four-stroke engine of the ZMZ 409.10 series. The valves are located at the top, and the cooling is liquid. The ignition system of this engine is microprocessor-based, fuel injection is distributed. The diesel engine ZMZ-51432 for the UAZ Patriot is a must.

Diesel fuel is more economical and practical

In Russia, diesel fuel is gradually becoming fashionable, but until recently the production of diesel engines was only in the plans. Foreign diesel engines for the UAZ Patriot car, as a rule, did not fit, and attempts to aggregate them were abandoned.

Reviews of the UAZ Patriot diesel engine of the foreign company IVECO F1A end with negative reviews about its quality. Maybe because Ulyanovsk or Trans-Volga motors are more common for Russian cars. The volume of the overseas engine is 2.3 liters, and the power is 116 horses. The Italian engine is noisier and less powerful. However, owners of a Patriot with a foreign engine will appreciate good traction and a fairly economical fuel consumption - a little less than 10 liters per 100 km.

Not so long ago, the Zavolzhsky Motor Plant began producing a diesel engine for the UAZ Patriot and UAZ Pickup SUVs. The ZMZ-51432 motor is small-displacement, its volume is 2.2 liters, it complies with the Euro-4 standard. The engine has a maximum power of 114 horsepower, 3500 rpm and low fuel consumption.

There are many original parts in the motor, thanks to which energy and economic indicators have increased. At the same time, emissions of harmful substances have been reduced: by half in comparison with motors corresponding to "Euro-3". The noise level has decreased in accordance with the requirements of the standard.

Characteristics of the UAZ 469 motor

UAZ 469 has a 4-cylinder engine of the UMZ 417 series with a volume of 2.5 liters. The power of such a motor reaches 75 horses, the location of the valves is upper. The fuel supply system is forced. Closed cooling system, liquid with forced circulation. The nuance of this engine is a fairly decent fuel consumption, up to 16 liters per hundred.

Two different modifications of this engine are installed on the UAZ 469 for two different purposes. UMP 4178 - for ordinary civilian models, UMP 4179 - for military ones. The difference between "military" motors is that they are equipped with a sensor-distributor and high-voltage shielded wiring. In addition, they have a special place for heating.

A distinctive feature of the UMZ 417 series engine is the special design of the combined cylinder block and the upper part of the crankcase into a single whole, made of high-strength aluminum alloy. The cylinders are wet removable liners and are cast in gray iron. The wear resistance of the liner is ensured by the acid-resistant cast iron at the top.

Aluminum cylinder head assy for the UMZ 417 engine

The head of the block is common to all cylinders and is made of aluminum alloy, as are the pistons. The five-point crankshaft is made of magnesium cast iron.

Hunter engine features

The UAZ Hunter car, which replaced the UAZ 469 in 2003, is equipped with both a gasoline and a diesel engine. The differences between a gasoline engine and a diesel engine for Hunter are insignificant.

The basic power unit for this car was a four-cylinder ZMZ 409.10 with a volume of 2.7 liters. The engine is equipped with a 16-valve mechanism and multipoint fuel injection. The power of the unit reaches 128 horsepower. The engine's appetite is up to 13 liters per 100 km.

The diesel engine for the Hunter brand ZMZ 5143.20 has four cylinders arranged in a row. The volume of the engine is 2.2 liters, there is a fuel injection system. In terms of diesel economy, the engine is largely superior to its gasoline counterpart. It requires a maximum of 10 liters per 1000 kilometers. But the dynamics suffers slightly, diesel in this regard is slightly inferior to gasoline.

The reliability of the engines on the UAZ Hunter car is the highest. The main thing, as the developers convince, is the correct care and timely repair of the failed parts. The motors show themselves well in off-road conditions in terms of traction development and are not capricious in the harsh Russian winters.

An example of tuning a motor

Tuning engines installed on UAZ vehicles is not so easy to do. Any tampering with the motor can lead to a decrease in traction force. And the models of many engines are outdated, so too many innovations and changes can play a cruel joke with them.

Certain mechanisms and systems can be modernized, of course. Changes to the piston group must be carried out with care and in accordance with the instructions. Piston rings are replaced with forged, better quality and stronger ones. The well-known company "Goetze" produces just such rings. If desired, you can install other details, but the work will require a professional approach and the appropriate tool.

It is possible to balance the UAZ 31514 crankshaft at home only with a flywheel. By placing the crankshaft on one of the ribs of the T-plates, determine the heaviest point. The crankshaft will roll over the plates until it stops at the heaviest point down. From this point, it will be necessary to remove a small layer of metal, periodically checking the result.

The timing belt has a number of features, so it is better for non-specialists not to change its design. Moreover, the camshaft is tuned only in sporting interests. If something goes wrong, engine performance will only deteriorate.

The intake and exhaust manifolds on the UAZ 31514 are tuned by many car owners. The first priority is to eliminate the step between windows and collectors. The holes are often not aligned.

Notches inside the manifold bore are removed by coarse grinding or more careful polishing. This modification will improve engine performance in terms of uniformity of cylinder filling and improve its performance.

The UAZ Patriot SUV is a car for drivers who prefer to move not only on asphalt, but also on rough terrain. The engineers of the Ulyanovsk plant have created a real steel horse designed for off-road. Sitting in the cabin, you can feel absolutely comfortable, but over time you realize that something is missing. This is something about not only changing the look of the car, but also upgrading the engine. If chip tuning is a passive form of improving technical performance, then replacing an engine is an essential way to modernize a car. It is on the replacement of the internal combustion engine of the ZMZ-409 brand installed on the SUV that will be discussed today. Let's consider what types of engines of domestic and foreign production can be installed on the UAZ Patriot.

What kind of foreign engine can you put on a domestically produced SUV to improve the technical performance of the Patriot? The first option is to install a motor from a Toyota Surf car. In addition, to install a new engine, you do not need to have engineering knowledge, for this you simply need to purchase a unit. There are some features for installing a Toyota Surf engine on a UAZ. Let's consider them briefly:

  1. The mountings of the standard motor must be moved a few centimeters forward and the angle of inclination must be changed. The angle of inclination is needed in order to accommodate vibration-free pillows.
  2. Before installing the engine, it is also necessary to remove the power steering bracket. He will rest against the timing, so problems may arise.
  3. The radiator remains standard. It does an excellent job of its functions. It will be able to provide cooling of a Japanese-made engine completely.
  4. The air filter is located on the left side of the engine compartment.
  5. It is also recommended to replace the exhaust system, that is, to use the Japanese version, which is more reliable.

After replacement, you can find the following improvements:

  • Fuel consumption will be reduced.
  • Problems with the transfer case and gearbox disappear.
  • Dynamics improves.

Whose else can you install the engine on the UAZ Patriot? In addition to the Toyota engine, a domestic engine from the GAZ-53, better known as the V8, can also be installed on the car.

V8 engine

The well-known GAZ-53 truck with a V8 engine, which means the presence of eight cylinders, is still used today. The car has an excellent engine that can be installed on the UAZ Patriot. The V8 engine from the GAZ-53 has a power of 115 hp. and considerable torque. In addition, this unit perfectly replaces the standard SUV engine.

To fulfill the dream of installing a V8 engine in your car, you need to replace the exhaust system, transfer case and gearbox. After installing the V8 engine, the power of an SUV is felt, which is ready to overcome difficult off-road and obstacles, and to pass through swamps, reservoirs and snowdrifts. With the V8 engine from the GAZ-53, the SUV is not afraid of high-speed movement along the highway. Below is a video showing the UAZ Patriot with an installed V8 engine from GAZon-53.

After watching the video, you understand what an 8-cylinder engine from a Soviet mid-engine is. With the new V8 engine, Patras is much louder, which it should be. Domestic-made engines are famous for their endurance and efficiency, so by installing such a V8 engine, you can forever forget about the regular engine, since you will no longer want to return it.

The GAZon engine is more powerful than the standard one from the Patriot. But its main advantage is reliability, which cannot be said about modern motors.

Motor from Nissan

If there is a desire and finances, then you can install a more powerful engine on the UAZ Patriot than the GAZ-53. This is the Nissan Kid 32 engine from the Galagrin company. The power of such a unit is approximately 150 hp, which is more than necessary. It should be noted that this unit from the Nissan Kid 32 is diesel. 150 h.p. also suitable for an electronically controlled machine. With manual control, the power is reduced to 135 horsepower.

Of course, no one says that the Nissan Kid 32 engine is installed new, you can put it on a contract basis. The reason is that the new units must comply with the Euro 4 environmental standard.

After replacing the standard engine with the Nissan Kid 32, the UAZ Patriot SUV is characterized by the following parameters:

  1. Increased power. Now the SUV can not only get out of any trouble, but also pull out its own kind.
  2. The consumption increases, which is justified by the increase in power.

To install the Nissan Kid 32 engine on the Patriot, you will need a suspension lift for the latter.

Cummins

In conclusion, I would like to note the advantages of the Cummins engine, which are also excellent for a new generation SUV. First of all, it should be noted that Cummins is exclusively engaged in the production of diesel engines, renowned for their durability, economy and safety.

Cummins engines are installed in Gazelle cars. Cummins is suitable for those types of vehicles that are designed for off-road and asphalt conditions. Therefore, if you often operate your car on mixed types of roads, then it is Cummins that will be the best solution.

Summing up, it should be noted that today we have examined superficially the types of engines, both domestic and imported, that can be installed on your SUV. In many cases, of course, improvements are required, but still, replacement is done at home. Which motor to install: imported or domestic - it's up to you, the main thing is that the chosen option fully meets your needs.

You can check your MBM and reduce it if needed!

With a volume of 2.7 liters, it produces 128 hp. with a torque of 210 Nm. The second engine with which UAZ Patriot is sold today is a 2.2-liter diesel with 114 hp. at 270 Nm of torque. Diesel is also collected at ZMZ (Zavolzhsky Motor Plant). Today we will talk in more detail about these power units for a domestic SUV.

Patriot gasoline engine, this is the ZMZ 409, which became the successor to the well-known 406 motor. Inline 4-cylinder 16-valve power unit with aluminum block and aluminum cylinder head. The engine has two overhead camshafts that move the valves by means of hydraulic lifters. That is, you do not need to manually adjust the valves on this motor. Injection injection allows the engine to comply with the Euro 4 environmental standard. There is a chain in the timing drive. It would seem that there could be more reliable, but it is the chain that is the weakest point of the motor. The constant complaints of the owners about the open circuit forced the manufacturer to abandon the use of Chinese hydraulic chain tensioners, replacing them with German ones. Further more detailed technical characteristics of this engine.

The fuel consumption of the petrol Patriot is a separate topic, since in off-road conditions with all-wheel drive turned on, with the air conditioner running, the consumption can reach 25-30 liters per hundred. Therefore, it is not possible to accurately determine the real consumption, due to the huge number of concomitant factors affecting Patriot gas mileage.

Diesel engine UAZ Patriot ZMZ-51432, which is now installed on domestic SUVs, has recently been mastered. Prior to that, a 2.3-liter IVECO unit was installed under the Patriot's hood. The domestic motor gives out about the same characteristics. Power 114 HP with a torque of 270 Nm. Inline 4-cylinder 16-valve Common Rail turbo diesel with "BOSCH" injection has an aluminum block and a block head. The timing drive is also a chain drive. Diesel is significantly more expensive than the gasoline version, therefore it is offered only in the most expensive trim levels. Diesel Patriots are not very popular despite significant fuel economy and increased torque. Further detailed characteristics of the turbodiesel power unit.

The main gift to all lovers of Russian SUVs this year will be presented by ZMZ in the summer, a new Patriot will appear on the UAZ conveyor. The more modern UAZ-3170 will receive a new gasoline engine, which will replace the 2.7-liter unit, which is very gluttonous and not very dynamic. The new ZMZ gasoline engine will have a smaller working volume (rumored to be 2-2.4 liters), while the engine power will increase, and fuel consumption will be significantly reduced!

UAZ Patriot engine, which was installed on the last year's model, remained on the restyled UAZ Patriot 2015. There have been no major changes, customers are offered a choice of gasoline and diesel versions of the engine. Both engines are ZMZ. The diesel engine ZMZ-51432.10 CRS with a Common Rail fuel supply system and a turbine complies with Euro-4. The new gasoline ZMZ-409 also complies with Euro-4 and is ready to digest AI-92 fuel. Today we will tell you in detail about the characteristics of both motors.

So, gasoline engine UAZ Patriot ZMZ-409, it is a 4-cylinder, 16-valve, in-line, with an integrated microprocessor-based fuel injection control system. Fuel injection is carried out into the intake pipe. Ignition system with coils that supply current to the spark plugs screwed vertically in the center of the combustion chambers. There are even special wells in the cylinder head cover for this. Microprocessor system with an electronic engine control unit, automatically controls the ignition timing.

The cylinder block of the power unit is cast from a cast iron alloy, the cylinder head is aluminum, with two camshafts and hydraulic valve lifters. Timing chain drive... At the same time, the chain device of the gas distribution mechanism of the UAZ Patriot engine is very complex, since it consists of two chains connected through an intermediate shaft. Plus there are two chain tensioners with sprockets. This entire structure is the weak point of the entire engine, since insufficient tension, breakdown of the hydraulic tensioner, leads to increased noise of the UAZ Patriot engine. In addition, hydraulic lifters often fail, which leads to a knock in the valve mechanism.

  • Torque - 209.7 Nm at 2500 rpm
  • Compression ratio - 9
  • Fuel grade - gasoline AI 92
  • Environmental class - Euro-4
  • Maximum speed - 150 km / h
  • Acceleration to 100 km / h - n / a
  • Fuel consumption on the highway - 11.5 liters

Naturally, the manufacturer does not name objective data on the fuel consumption of the gasoline Patriot in urban conditions. The reason is understandable, rather high fuel consumption can frighten off buyers. If you want to save on fuel, then buy a UAZ Patriot with a diesel engine, which we will talk about further.

Diesel UAZ Patriot collected at the same Zavolzhsky Motor Plant. Inline 4-cylinder, 16-valve power unit with two camshafts. Timing chain drive with hydraulic tensioners. The valve train has hydraulic lifters. The cylinder block is cast iron, the block head is aluminum, there is a turbocharger. The diesel engine ZMZ-51432.10 CRS with a Common Rail fuel supply system has an electronically controlled BOSCH fuel supply system with a maximum injection pressure of 1450 bar. To drive the high pressure fuel pump (high pressure fuel pump), the water pump and the generator, a poly V-belt with an automatic tension mechanism is used.

Diesel engine UAZ Patriot, with direct fuel injection, turbocharging and charge air cooling complies with the Euro-4 emission class. This engine is distinguished by good torque, which is indispensable for off-road, plus quite moderate fuel consumption. Below are detailed characteristics of the Patriot diesel engine.

Engine UAZ Patriot 2.3 diesel (114 hp) characteristics, fuel consumption, dynamics

  • Working volume - 2235 cm3
  • Number of cylinders - 4
  • Number of valves - 16
  • Cylinder diameter - 87 mm
  • Piston stroke - 94 mm
  • Power hp / kW - 113.5 / 83.5 at 3500 rpm
  • Torque - 270 Nm at 1300-2800 rpm
  • Compression ratio - 19
  • Timing Type / Timing Drive - DOHC / Chain
  • Fuel grade - diesel
  • Environmental class - Euro-4
  • Maximum speed - 135 km / h
  • Acceleration to 100 km / h - n / a
  • Fuel consumption in the city - n / a
  • Combined fuel consumption - n / a
  • Fuel consumption on the highway - 9.5 liters

The Patriot's diesel unit has a problem with the 5-speed manual gearbox that prevents it from taking full advantage of the engine. When driving on a highway, the diesel engine simply lacks the 6th gear. Although it is ideal for off-road conditions. By the way, the gearbox for a gasoline engine has a gear ratio of the main pair of 4.11, for a diesel engine it is 4.625. When buying, it is recommended to install a pre-heater, otherwise problems with starting this engine will begin in winter.

Since 2008, the UAZ company has been supplying the Patriot SUV to the Russian market in two versions with gasoline and diesel engines. Initially, the manufacturer used an engine borrowed from the Fiat Ducato model. Later, the ZMZ-51432 Euro-4 engine was installed on the UAZ Patriot. The assembly of the model in this design has been completed by this time. But the manufacturer promises to soon resume production of a model with a diesel engine.

A diesel engine differs from a gasoline engine not only in the difference in the consumption of petroleum products, but also in power parameters, efficiency and environmental friendliness. Later, the engineer decided to equip this Russian car with a domestic diesel engine, installing 4-cylinder diesel units of the ZMZ-51432 and ZMZ-5148 series in it.

The appearance of a diesel UAZ Patriot is no different from a gasoline one, which cannot be said about the power reserve of the engines. If the ZMZ-409 gasoline engine has a capacity of 128 horses, then on a diesel engine their number was reduced to 113. But this factor did not affect the cross-country ability of the SUV, but on the contrary, thanks to the increased torque, the UAZ Patriot behaves much better as on the road. surface and off-road. In this article, we will consider all the characteristics of the diesel UAZ Patriot and find out which is better, gasoline or diesel?

Design features of the UAZ Patriot diesel engine

It is worth noting another important feature of the diesel engine is the reduced fuel consumption, which is 9 liters per 100 km, while the Zavolzhsky gasoline engine consumes at least 13 liters per 100 km. The diesel SUV has the following features:

  • The weight of a diesel engine, be it Iveco or ZMZ-514, is much more than the ZMZ-409.
  • Due to the heavier diesel engine, the front springs had to be strengthened on the SUV.
  • If the operation of the Iveco or ZMZ-514 engine occurs at minimum idle speed, then this can lead to negative consequences, or rather, to oil entering the system.

UAZ Patriot with an Iveco F1A and ZMZ-514 engine contains not only power and efficiency, but also safety. This vehicle is great for city traffic traffic as well as for overcoming obstacles in all off-road conditions. In addition to efficiency and safety, it is worth noting the comfort of the cabin. The Patriot's cabin can accommodate 5 people, and thanks to additional seats in the luggage compartment, this number of passengers can be increased to 9 people. So, let's take a closer look at the features of the UAZ Patriot SUV with a diesel engine.

Diesel or gasoline engine UAZ Patriot - which is better

There is no particular difference between the petrol and diesel versions of the Patriot. The power of the first motor is 128 hp. with a volume of 2.7 liters. Despite the fact that the diesel engine has a slightly lower recoil, this is leveled by the increased torque. If for a gasoline engine the maximum value of this indicator reaches 217 N / m, then for a heavy fuel unit it is 270 N / m. This difference becomes especially noticeable when the car goes off-road.
You should also pay attention to the fact that the gasoline unit consumes about 12 liters of fuel. As a result, the difference in cost between both models is eliminated within 2-3 years after active use of the car.
In addition, due to the operation of the gasoline engine, the SUV can reach a speed of 150 km / h.

In the diesel version, this figure is limited to 135 km / h. Due to the fact that both engines are structurally different from each other, the engine compartment for each version is made differently.
The operation of diesel units requires adherence to special rules. This is due to the fact that this type of fuel is highly sensitive to temperature indicators. To avoid unexpected breakdowns of the power unit and increase its service life, the following must be done:

  1. At subzero temperatures, the engine must not be started immediately. Instead, turn the ignition key to the first position and wait about three minutes. At the end of the specified period, you can start the engine. This procedure is performed to warm up the fuel filter.
  2. The vehicle must be pre-run in. During the first 2.5 thousand kilometers, it is recommended to operate the SUV in sparing modes, reducing the load level to a minimum.
  3. Use only high-quality diesel fuel of at least Euro-3 class.

Traditionally, diesel engines last longer than gasoline engines. However, with extreme driving, the service life of the power plant is sharply reduced due to frequent overheating.

Technical characteristics of the UAZ Patriot diesel engine

The ZMZ-514 engine has a working volume of 2.2 liters, while the consumption does not exceed 9 liters with mixed traffic. The engine is equipped with an exhaust gas recirculation system as well as turbocharging. In addition, the following parameters are characteristic of such a domestic diesel engine ZMZ-514:

  • Working volume - 2235 cm3
  • Number of cylinders - 4
  • Number of valves - 16
  • Cylinder diameter - 87 mm
  • Piston stroke - 94 mm
  • Power hp / kW - 113.5 / 83.5 at 3500 rpm
  • Torque - 270 Nm at 1300-2800 rpm
  • Compression ratio - 19
  • Timing Type / Timing Drive - DOHC / Chain
  • Fuel grade - diesel
  • Environmental class - Euro-4
  • Maximum speed - 135 km / h
  • Acceleration to 100 km / h - n / a
  • Fuel consumption in the city - n / a
  • Combined fuel consumption - 9.5 liters
  • Fuel consumption on the highway - n / a

The real fuel consumption in urban conditions, according to the owners, with a quiet ride does not exceed 12 liters of diesel. This is significantly less than the gasoline version of the Patriot, which can easily eat up to 20 liters of gasoline. On the highway, at a speed of 80-90 km / h, the UAZ Patriot diesel consumes only 8-8.5 liters per 100 km of run. Therefore, if fuel consumption plays an important role in your case, then choose the diesel version of UAZ

It is also important to note that the fuel supply system is distributor with a mechanical pump regulator.

How to improve the technical characteristics of the UAZ Patriot diesel engine

The design features of the diesel engine installed on the UAZ Patriot make it possible to improve its initial characteristics. Chip tuning this engine provides for the following procedures:

  1. Modernization of the engine control program. Due to this procedure, it is possible to achieve an improvement in the "cold" start, idle modes, and also to increase the performance of the power unit.
  2. Installation of an additional turbine. It increases the overall engine power. This procedure assumes additional revision of the standard software.

The rest of the chip tuning of the UAZ Patriot consists in carrying out activities affecting other components of the SUV design. In particular, car doors are supplemented with various materials that increase noise, heat and sound insulation inside the passenger compartment.

Important nuances of UAZ Patriot diesel engine maintenance

Everyone knows that diesel fuel is very sensitive to cold. In this case, there are a lot of nuances that are important for owners of UAZ Patriot diesel SUVs to know.
When the air temperature drops to 0 degrees and below, it is important to keep in mind that it is not recommended to start the engine right away. To do this, first turn the key in the ignition lock to the first position, wait 2-3 minutes, and then try to start. What is it for? This is done in order to preheat the fuel filter, from which fuel enters the system.

Another important nuance, which should also be regularly paid attention to, is the timely replacement of the timing belt. This procedure is recommended to be performed after 60 thousand kilometers. Failure to comply with this recommendation increases the likelihood of unexpected timing belt breakage, which will entail the need to replace the cylinder head, camshaft and rocker arm.

Any engine, including diesel modifications, requires timely maintenance. This procedure, first of all, provides for an oil change every 8 thousand kilometers. This action eliminates the aging of the structure of the power plant. To preserve the integrity of the internal elements of the diesel engine, it is recommended to use the same brand of oil on the UAZ Patriot.

The service life of a diesel engine is much higher than that of a gasoline engine, but it all depends on the nature of driving and compliance with certain operating modes. If the engine constantly experiences maximum loads, which will lead to its overheating, then such a unit will have to be repaired, and in the worst case, it will be completely replaced. For a diesel engine ZMZ-514 or Iveco UAZ Patriot, it is required to fill really high-quality fuel. In this case, it is recommended to refuel a Euro series diesel.

Every 8 thousand kilometers you need to replace the fuel filter. And if low quality fuel is used, then this procedure is recommended to be carried out more often.
Over time, sediment appears in the fuel tanks (on the Patriot, 2 containers with a volume of 40 liters are used). The diesel engine should be flushed every two years to avoid clogging.
