Oil volume in a rapid engine 1.6. Car oils and everything you need to know about motor oils. Filling volumes of engine oil for Skoda Rapid

Skoda's compact Rapid liftback was unveiled at the 2012 Paris International Motor Show. The five-door car replaced the budget Octavia Tour and became a direct competitor to such B-class representatives as Lada Vesta, Kia Rio, Volkswagen Polo sedan and Hyundai Solaris. The novelty hit the domestic market only in 2014 and differed from other versions by a large ground clearance and a modified suspension specially adapted for use on domestic roads. A feature of Rapid is a high level of technical equipment, an attractive corporate look (both outside and inside) and an affordable price tag.

The model was equipped with diesel and gasoline engines produced by Volkswagen with different technical data (working volumes - 1.2-1.6 liters with 75-125 hp). The liftback arrived in Russia in three petrol versions. The 1.4-liter unit (125 hp) was the most charged and with an average consumption of 5.3 liters per 100 km it accelerated to the first hundred in 9 seconds. The maximum acceleration is up to 209 km / h. The other 2 configurations were slightly less powerful - these are 1.6-liter engines with 90 and 110 hp. The maximum acceleration on them is 185 and 191-195 km / h, respectively, the mixed consumption is 5.8 and 6.1 liters, the acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h is 11.4 and 10.3-11.6 seconds. Information on the consumption and types of oil consumed by engines is further in the article. The units worked with a 7-speed robot (double clutch), a 6-speed automatic or a classic 5-speed manual transmission.

Among all the virtues lineup Skoda Rapid separately worth noting is the reliability of the car and its spaciousness. However, despite the fact that the car can easily accommodate 5 people, it has a rather low ceiling (passengers over 180 cm may be uncomfortable). In addition, numerous complaints were recorded about poor noise insulation and low-quality interior materials with its rich equipment at the same time.

Photo material in the article may be found for different modifications engines. Replacing the Skoda Rapid filter, the procedure and the approximate placement of the nodes are similar in all variants.

1. Changing the Skoda Rapid oil begins with the fact that you need to unscrew the plug from the oil drain neck.

Note:

If the vehicle is equipped with an engine underbody guard, remove it to access the drain hole. The versions and location of the guard mounting bolts may vary.

2. Place a container under the engine sump to collect engine oil... Unscrew the plug drain hole oil pan and drain the oil.

Note:

Oil drains much better from a warm engine. But, in this case, be careful when unscrewing the drain plug so that the hot oil does not get on your hands or other parts of the body.

3. Crank slightly oil filter wrench and wait for the oil to drain from the filter.

4. After all the oil is drained, clean the oil drain plug, install a new O-ring and tighten the plug to 35 Nm. Depending on the configuration, the ring can only come with a plug. In this case, both parts are replaced.

Note:

The design of the crankcase plug heads is sometimes different. They are also available for a box wrench and / or for a hex wrench. For light-alloy pallets, plugs for a simple key are used, for steel pallets, plugs for Torx are used.

5. Cover the generator and other nearby parts with a rag before removing the filter. Remove the old oil filter completely.

A warning:

It is not permissible to clean and reuse the replaceable filter. When handling used filters and engine oil, observe the relevant rules and regulations for oil management and disposal of used oils and used filters!

6. Fill the new oil filter with about a third of its volume with oil that has been prepared for filling into the engine. Lubricate the supplied O-ring of the new oil filter with oil.

The third generation of the Skoda Octavia model (A7 body) in June 2013 entered the Russian market with a completely new line of power units of the EA211 series, which replaced the old EA111 engines. The range of engines then included petrol "turbo fours" 1.2 TSI, 1.4 TSI and 1.8 TSI, as well as the 2.0 TDI diesel that joined them. However, a few months later, in the spring of 2014, the manufacturer decided to replace the initial turbocharged unit 1.2 TSI to "aspirated" 1.6 MPI. Such a castling, apparently, was caused by the desire to expand the circle of potential buyers at the expense of those car owners who are distrustful of supercharged engines and their DSG “robots” that make up a pair of them, who have not yet completely got rid of the status of a problematic checkpoint. For buyers of this kind, a modification with a naturally aspirated engine, complemented by a classic automatic Aisin box with 6 steps, for sure seemed like a real apologist for reliability. In favor new version spoke and a rather low price tag. What can we expect from a Skoda Octavia with a 1.6 MPI engine, and what weaknesses / strengths can be noted in a turbocharged engine?

What is a 1.6 MPI motor?

To begin with, it would not hurt to talk about the design features of the atmospheric "four". The unit, which received the CWVA index, is a new development based on the turbo engines included in the EA211 family. The "aspirated" borrowed almost all the basic parts from its fellows: a lightweight aluminum cylinder block with cast-iron liners, a block head with an integrated exhaust manifold, a 16-valve timing belt, a dual-circuit cooling system, a unified mounting scheme for the MQB platform. At the same time, all "supercharged" components - a compressor, an intercooler, and a high-pressure fuel pump - were excluded from the architecture.

The increase in volume was achieved by installing larger diameter pistons and increasing their stroke (the radius of the crankshaft crank was made larger). The cylinder head has been upgraded to accommodate a multipoint injection system. From the resulting power unit with a volume of 1598 cubic meters. see managed to "remove" 110 hp. power and 155 Nm of torque. The timing drive of the 1.6 MPI engine (however, like other motors of the EA211 series) uses toothed belt capable of "walking" 120,000 km. It is with this mileage that it is recommended to change it.

Features Skoda Octavia A7 with 1.6 MPI engine

In terms of technical characteristics, the Skoda Octavia with a 1.6-liter "aspirated" MPI is inferior to the modification with a 1.2 TSI turbo engine in a number of ways. For example, it accelerates more slowly (12 versus 10.5 seconds) and consumes more fuel (6.7 versus 5 liters). But, as practice shows, many motorists, when choosing a car, are guided primarily by the criterion of reliability. And here the Octavia 1.6 has an advantage - whatever one may say, the atmospheric unit is less prone to breakdowns due to the lack of a capricious turbocharging system, and distributed injection, unlike direct injection, makes less demands on fuel quality. Plus, in tandem with the MPI motor, there is a traditional hydromechanical "automatic", which enjoys great confidence.

What problems can arise with a 1.6 MPI 110 hp engine?

One of the key features of the 1.6-liter MPI engine is high consumption oils, and an increased "appetite" is observed even in new engines. There is nothing to worry about as long as the loss of oil for waste does not begin to exceed allowable norms... An alarming signal, hinting at possible problems, is an increase in consumption to 500 grams per thousand kilometers or more. Here you should already contact a specialist to find out the causes of the oil.

Predisposition to increased consumption 1.6 MPI engine oil is primarily due to its design features- small thickness of the piston rings, low weight and height of the pistons. The downsizing and lightening of these parts helps to reduce frictional losses, resulting in better fuel economy and minimization of maintenance. harmful substances in the exhaust gases. At the same time, such a CPG “digests” heavy loads worse, becoming more sensitive to the engine operating conditions and the quality of the oil used. In a certain scenario piston group can overheat, which inevitably affects the operation of the compression and oil scraper rings, which can no longer fully perform their functions. As a result, more oil gets into the combustion chamber than it should be, and its combustion leads to the formation of deposits on the cylinder walls and piston skirts.

In list possible reasons large oil burnout in the CWVA 1.6 MPI engine also called the special structure of the cylinder wall surface obtained after honing, insufficient pretension of the oil scraper rings, design flaws associated with alterations turbocharged engine into atmospheric.

In any case, in order to protect yourself from premature problems, during the operation of your Skoda Octavia 1.6, you must follow a few simple rules:

  1. Use only the engine oil recommended by the manufacturer, avoid counterfeits, give preference to oils with better detergent properties and a low tendency to form deposits.
  2. Change the engine oil in a timely manner. On time means not by mileage, but by actually worked hours and real condition.
  3. Check the oil level regularly and if it drops quickly, be sure to contact the service center.
  4. Avoid overheating of the engine, if possible, exclude unfavorable driving modes (prolonged standing in traffic jams in hot weather).

In principle, all this complex of measures must be carried out by the owner of any modern car, except that in this particular case, the owner of the car is required to be more attentive to the regulations for maintenance work.

Some conclusions

The appearance in the range of Skoda Octavia A7 engines of the 1.6 MPI 110 hp engine. can be unequivocally regarded as a positive moment. Motorists have more freedom of choice power plants and gearboxes. The new unit is designed in accordance with the latest trends in engine building, meets the Euro-5 environmental standards, and has good consumer properties. Besides, power unit the role of the basic one is assigned, that is, the modifications it completes are the cheapest. As of October 2016, the price for the Skoda Octavia 1.6 MPI starts at 899 thousand rubles (version with a 5-speed "mechanics").

Octavia's first time for Russian market equipped with 110-horsepower foreign-assembled motors. In September 2015, the production of engines was launched at a plant in Kaluga. At present, atmospheric "fours" 1.6 series ЕА211 are installed on several Volkswagen / Skoda models at once. In addition to the Octavia, this number includes the Yeti, Rapid, Polo and Jetta.

Replacing the motor Skoda oils Rapid is provided every 15,000 km or every scheduled maintenance. However, often, many motorists change the oil in the engine more often - every 8-10 thousand km, and rightly so. The more often the oil is changed, the better for the engine.

What engine oil to choose for a 1.6 liter engine

For 1.4-liter 122 hp petrol TSI engine, 1.2-liter gasoline engines TSI in 86 or 105 horsepower versions and for the 1.6-liter 105-horsepower TDI diesel uses VW synthetic oil long life III 5W-30.

For the more powerful 1.6-liter naturally aspirated 105 Horse power and a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated engine with a capacity of 75 horses, then VW Special Plus 5W-40 oil is poured into them.

From the factory by the motor Volkswagen oil with a tolerance of 502 or 504. When changing the oil during routine maintenance, the service may offer you other options for engine oils.

Engine oil resource

The service life and resource of engine oil is affected by frequent use in the city, idle in traffic jams, when the engine is idling, in this case the oil resource is reduced.

Water is very harmful to engine oils.

Getting into it in a ratio of 0.2%, water begins to rapidly decompose the additives existing in it. Further, when the engine is running with such oil, thick deposits are clogged in the pipes and channels of the motor. In the future, this leads to breakdowns of parts in the engine!

Checking the condition of the engine oil

It is quite easy to check the quality of the engine oil in the engine. We take out the dipstick and put a drop of oil on a white sheet of paper. We wait 15 minutes and analyze. The drop of oil must be at least 3 cm in diameter.

It is difficult for a motorist to figure out what kind of oil to fill in the Skoda Rapid, when there are many technical fluids from different manufacturers... The first thing to consider when choosing them is the recommendations of the manufacturers, which can be found in the vehicle operating instructions. The right oil is the key long-term work car without frequent repairs.

What kind of engine oil is best for Skoda Rapid engine in summer?

Which engine oil is better to fill in Skoda engine Rapid in summer, depends on engine size and characteristics. It should be noted that the plant is filled with branded oil own production of the Volkswagen concern.

For gasoline engine TSI with volumes of 1.4 and 1.2 liters, as well as for 1.6 liters TSI diesel engines, it is recommended to use VW long Life III 5W-30, which is a high quality synthetic oil... For 1.2 and 1.6 liters of an atmospheric engine, VW Special Plus 5W-40 oil is used. It is allowed to use oils from other manufacturers, such as Castrol or Shell.

The manufacturer recommends changing the oil after 15,000 kilometers. Under unfavorable operating conditions, it is necessary to change the oil after 10,000 kilometers. The oil filling volumes depend on the volume and type of engine.
