The VAZ 2107 injector stalls. Why does a VAZ injector start up and stall right away? If the engine stalls and then starts

In this article, we will talk about such an unpleasant problem as engine stalling and bad starting. Consider the main reasons why the engine stalls at idle and on the move. In addition, let's talk about why the engine does not start hot, as well as options for solving each of the above problems.

Common reasons why singles stall:

1. The most common is the idle speed regulator (sensor), which is directly related to the idle speed of the engine. It is quite simple to check whether the breakdown is in it. If the car does not start when you crank the starter, operate the gas pedal, the engine should start. If the revs begin to float immediately after you take your foot off the pedal - 99% that the reason is in the idle speed control. The solution is, this will take VAZ owners a minimum of time.

2. The second probable reason why the engine stalls at idle is throttle problems. This trouble is being treated - a banal one.

3. If after cleaning the problem persists, we make the assumption that the reason for which the engine stalls at idle may be the TPS (throttle position sensor). The problem is solved in a way, the procedure is not complicated and really doable with your own hands.

There are frequent cases when the engine stalls on the move, as they say for no reason. The most probable and most common reasons for which this may occur will be listed below.

Motor stalls on the move - reasons

1. Poor-quality fuel is the first thing that comes to mind for most of us, moreover, it is necessary to start from this the search for the cause of the engine stopping on the move. You will be "lucky" if this happens immediately after refueling, in which case it is safe to say that the problem is in the fuel. It is treated by draining fuel and.

2. Candles. As a rule, suspicion falls on them most often, after bad fuel, of course. Everything is simple here - unscrew the candles and check their condition, if necessary.

3. Fuel filter. A clogged filter can interrupt the fuel supply, causing you to gas and the engine stalls on the move. It is enough to eliminate the malfunction.

4. Air filter. Everything is the same as with the fuel, if it is clogged, then the air does not flow, therefore the fuel-air mixture comes out re-enriched and the candles are simply flooded. In addition, due to lack of air, the engine will choke, that is, the power will drop, and the combustion process in the cylinders will not be able to take place, in the end the engine will stall. To eliminate this malfunction, it is enough to replace the air filter.

5. Defective fuel pump - the second "suspect". If your fuel pump is not all right, then the car will behave this way, it will stall on the move, or the engine will not start at all. The problem is solved by checking the pump, repairing it, or.

6. Battery. Oxidized battery terminals or poor contact can cause engine stalling. Check the terminals, clean them if necessary or replace the battery.

7. If the engine stalls on the move and no longer starts, the generator may also be the cause. A failed generator does not charge, as a result, the on-board network of the car is powered exclusively by the battery, and as you know, it will not last for a long time. As a result, you, unaware that the car is running on a battery, continue to move until it is completely discharged. It is treated - and.

6. In advanced cars, the reasons can also be with electronics and various sensors. If you are not strong in this and all of the above nodes and parts are normal, then it is better to contact the specialists, otherwise you can replace the floor of the car with no sense by "typing" method ...

Why the engine stalls hot, a well-heated engine won't start?

1. The first possible reason is. While driving, a large amount of air passes through it, due to which the carburetor is seriously cooled, at the same time the fuel that passes through it also cools. As a result, the carburetor temperature is several times lower than the engine temperature. Because of this feature, problems arise, after a long journey, you turn off the engine and make a short stop, at which time the carburetor starts to get very hot from the hot engine body. The remaining gasoline in the float chamber from the high temperature begins to evaporate, filling the voids - the air filter, the intake manifold and the carburetor itself. Air locks are formed, and not a drop of fuel remains in the float chamber.

The solution to the problem is quite simple - press the gas pedal halfway several times and try to start the engine. This will make the mixture leaner and release excess evaporation. It should be noted that problems with hot starting can also be due to a similar problem, only through the fault of the fuel pump or the fuel line. This typically occurs in hot weather, when vapor in the fuel system or pump creates air pockets that prevent fuel from entering the carburetor.

2. The second possible reason for the strange behavior of a warm engine is problems with the starter. Make sure that when you try to start the engine, the starter motor cranks, rather than just clicking or not responding at all. If so, one of the above options was confirmed. it is necessary to check the starter. If you are on the road, then the check can be reduced to an elementary check of the starter power cable or other visual operations. If you get home, make a detailed one. In case of malfunction or replacement.

3. Alternatively, the reason when the engine does not start on a hot one may be a dead battery due to the reason described above, when the generator did not charge and the battery sat down completely.

Well, it seems like they haven't missed anything !? That's all for today, we hope the article will help, tell you the cause of the breakdown and help in solving your problem. If you know other reasons, as well as ways to solve them, you can supplement the article using the comment form. Thank you for the attention.

The stable operation of the engine of a VAZ 2107 car depends on the serviceability and correctness of the settings of its systems. Adjustment of the idle speed is possible without the involvement of specialists, provided that all recommendations of the operating manual are followed. A serviceable carburetor with a correctly set ignition timing and gaps between the distributor contacts.

The regulation of the mode in accordance with the technical documentation must be carried out using a device that determines the level of CO in the exhaust gases. In garage conditions, the carburetor is usually adjusted by eye and by the built-in tachometer. The description prescribes a crankshaft speed between 700 and 900 rpm. At lower values, the carburetor systems are unable to ensure stable engine operation, at higher values, fuel consumption increases.

The power unit of a VAZ 2107 car runs on gasoline, while the quality and composition of the fuel do not always meet the requirements of the standard. A clogged carburetor, in particular the idle system, can lead to erratic operation. Depending on the degree of contamination, the manifestations can be different up to the spontaneous stop of the motor.

The main reasons for the unstable operation of the engine of a VAZ 2107 car when idling:

  1. incorrect fuel level in the float chamber;
  2. clogging of the strainer, jets and channels;
  3. restriction or obstruction of the valve stroke in EPHH;
  4. air suction through damaged gaskets, membranes or tubes;
  5. clogged air filter;
  6. burning of contacts or an incorrect gap between them;
  7. substandard candles;
  8. incorrect adjustment of the ignition timing.

Before proceeding with tuning the carburetor, you should restore its performance, otherwise it is impossible to achieve a stable result.

Maintenance and troubleshooting

Routine work on systems that ensure engine operation should begin with a complete inspection. For convenience, the air filter housing is removed from the carburetor and all air pipes are inspected. There should be no cracks on them, and the material should remain elastic. If necessary, the carburetor is dismantled and it is completely disassembled with defect detection and replacement of faulty parts.

The next stage is diagnostics, elimination of identified faults and adjustment of the ignition system. It is recommended to clean the contacts in the distributor with fine sandpaper, replace the candles and set the lead angle correctly. This can be done using a tester or a primitive test lamp. It makes sense to go directly to the regulation of the VAZ 2107 engine only if the carburetor and other systems are put in order.

Powertrain setup

The idle speed is adjusted in a well-ventilated room or outdoors. Make sure that the air damper is fully open by pushing the handle forward as far as it will go. The carburetor is now completely ready for setting the mode.

The sequence of actions of the wizard is as follows:

  1. A device sensor is inserted into the exhaust pipe, which detects the concentration of carbon monoxide in the exhaust. The device turns on, and readings are taken from it, which characterize the operation of the carburetor.
  2. If the set parameters are exceeded, the screw of the mixture quality is tightened with a screwdriver. This action is carried out in several stages with constant monitoring of the exhaust.
  3. The drop in idle speed is compensated by the fact that the VAZ 2107 carburetor is adjusted by the screw for the amount of the mixture.

The procedure continues until the engine runs stably in this mode. In the absence of a device, the adjustment of a serviceable carburetor on a VAZ 2107 car can be done without it. With a certain skill, this operation will not take much time.

Adjusting the idle speed without the device

Most experienced craftsmen and drivers configure the VAZ 2107 power unit as follows:

  1. The carburetor mixture quality screw sets the minimum speed at which the engine runs unstable, but does not stall.
  2. The rotational speed is increased by adding the mixture.

The mixture quality screw procedure is repeated until the carburetor ensures stable engine operation.

In practice, this method is used quite often and with sufficient driver experience, a positive result is guaranteed.

Idling adjustment on a carburetor VAZ 2107

Idling is a mode of engine operation in which there is no load on the crankshaft. It is necessary to maintain the combustion of a minimum amount of fuel so that the engine does not stall and does not have to use battery energy to restart. Unstable idle speed leads to the fact that the engine stalls or runs intermittently, therefore periodically it is necessary to adjust the idle speed on the VAZ 2107 (carburetor). Today you will find out why there is no idling on a VAZ 2107 car with a carburetor and how to adjust it.

Adjusting idle speed for a vaz 2107

Why is idling unstable - VAZ 2107 carburetor?

Depending on the reasons, idle speed may be unstable or absent altogether. Both malfunctions are typical for any carburetor installed on a VAZ 2107.

To make the correct adjustment of this mode, you need to know about the reasons, which may be the following:

  1. Insufficient or excessive level in the float chamber. A float chamber is required to regulate the pressure between the fuel system and the diffuser and maintain a constant fuel level ready to spray. If the level is insufficient, the chamber does not have time to supply gasoline to the chamber, and if the level is too high, it overflows so that the fuel does not have time to burn.
  2. Dirty carburetor. It can touch both its tubules and individual elements: mesh filter parts, as well as valves and various nozzles.
  3. The DAAZ 2107 - 1107010 carburetor may fail the idle sensor or it is an EPHH malfunction. It is quite common. The valve may be installed incorrectly, as a result of which it is difficult to move.
  4. Excessive air leaks. It manifests itself in the form of leaks in the joints of the carburetor parts or there is a breakdown in the manifold gasket.
  5. High degree of contamination of the air filter.
  6. Trambler malfunction - burnt contacts.
  7. Incorrect adjustment of the lead angle or idle speed of the VAZ 2107 (carburetor).

There is a solution to the problem for each reason. Therefore, we will consider more complex malfunctions and find out why there may be no idle at all.

No idling carburetor VAZ 2107 - what is the reason?

The concept of "no xx" on the VAZ 2107 carburetor means that in addition to the unstable operation of the engine, there is a stop. It can occur immediately after starting, or it can come later, giving the motor the opportunity to work.

The reasons for the lack of idling are as follows:

  • Forced idle economizer malfunction;
  • Air leaks;
  • Incorrect ignition timing.

All these problems are accompanied by the fact that the carburetor cannot be adjusted. Therefore, first we will learn how to eliminate the causes.

Defective sensor EPHH

The idle economizer or idle speed sensor is located under the hood on the VAZ 2107 and bolted to the side of the carburetor. It is a small cylindrical electromagnet screwed into the unit. On the back of the valve there is a contact, the wire from which goes to the power supply circuit of the ignition switch.

EPHH control unit: 1 - block outputs; 2 - case; 3 - printed circuit board with microelectronic elements.

If the carburetor does not lend itself to any adjustments or does not idle on the VAZ 2107, and XX disappears very quickly or the engine is unstable, then it makes sense to start the engine and try to unscrew the valve a little. If the carburetor engine recovers, tighten the valve slightly and try changing the amount of mixture. In 90% of cases, the carburetor starts working properly again.

Another case is complete valve failure. To do this, you need to check it. You need to connect it directly to the battery. If clicks were heard, then the valve is working. Try screwing it into the carburetor and starting the engine. If successful, you need to look for a break in the electrical wiring and then you will not need to adjust xx.

Air leaks

It is one of the most difficult problems and can be caused by several reasons:

  1. Crooked footprint
  2. Defective gaskets
  3. Throttle valve not closed

To be sure of the presence of this problem, it is necessary to check the color of the spark plugs and the number of revolutions at idle speed. If the revs are overestimated, and the candles have a white coating, then the mixture is depleted, which means that more air is supplied than it should be.

In this case, the check begins by treating the joints of the carburetor to the manifold with a throttle valve cleaner. Begin machining at the intake manifold, then move to the carburetor-manifold junction and complete the EPC. A change in the number of revolutions will indicate the presence of an air leak. It should be located at the joints of the gaskets.

However, the gasket may not always be the cause. If the carburetors are improperly installed and dismantled, irregularities may form on the surface of their joints, through which air is sucked in.

Another reason is the open throttle valve. More precisely, not completely closed. This will be more correct, because there is a bolt on the bottom of the upper carburetor cover for adjusting the throttle clearance. If it is unscrewed, then the flap opens slightly and a very large amount of air flows into the diffuser, reducing the gasoline content. That is why the flow rate becomes lower, but the speed is too high, so it needs to be adjusted.

To fix, you need to remove the top cover and adjust the throttle position. The problem will go away immediately.

Adjusting the float chamber level

This is the first thing to start with adjusting any carburetor. It is from this part that the consumption and stability of the engine will depend. The level should be at the nominal mark established by the manufacturer, therefore it is very important to follow the technology.

Setting the fuel level in the float chamber:
I - carburetor cover; 2 - the saddle of the needle valve; 3 - stop; 4 - needle valve; 5 - ball of the locking needle; 6 - pull-back plug of the valve needle; 7 - float bracket; 8 - tongue; 9 - float; 10 - gasket.

The upper carburetor cover is removed, but before that, you need to pump up the manual gas pump to check the set level. The denomination is the level of gasoline located on half of the inclined surface. If it is higher or lower, then adjust the level of the float by bending the adjusting tendrils. The XX revolutions are also regulated by the float chamber.

To check, it is enough to put the cover on top, start the engine and turn it off immediately. Open the cover again and check the level. After that, you can proceed to the next stage.

How to adjust the carburetor of a VAZ 2107 at idle?

Now the most important thing. There must be a tachometer. After checking all the systems, their serviceability and correct settings, you can start adjusting the speed xx. To do this, the car is installed on a flat surface, the screws of quality and quantity are screwed in until they stop and unscrewed four turns, so they are adjusted from the factory.

In advance, you need to configure the launcher and completely remove it. The engine must be warmed up to operating temperature. If there is a need for a cold start, remove the choke and remove it as soon as the engine warms up. But don't touch the gas pedal.

Set the speed to 800 rpm by tightening the air-fuel mixture amount screw. After that, you need to unscrew or tighten the quality screw so that the speed becomes the highest possible. Take your time to make the tuning process more accurate.

Tighten the amount screw again to 800 rpm. Now you need to adjust the quality screw until the engine starts shaking a little. This moment will be the most permissible in terms of fuel economy and acceleration dynamics.

There is another method, which consists in cyclically increasing the speed using the quality screw. This process can be continued for a very long time, until the motor simply stalls. The most important thing is that the revolutions do not fall below 750 rpm, but also do not exceed 900. Otherwise, the engine will run unstable or consume too much fuel. It will become more difficult to set it up.

If the overestimated speed of XX is regulated, then they noticeably reduce the engine resource, however, in winter, adjustment is allowed at idle up to 1000 rpm, when the carb freezes and needs additional mixture. After that, the next regulation will need to be tucked in in the spring to reduce the speed.

Adjusting the idle speed of the VAZ 2107 carburetor - how and why is this done?

Adjusting the idle speed on the carburetor is an integral part of the maintenance of a carburetor car, and in the injector, the idle speed sensor will help us in such a situation. Today we will consider the adjustment of this mechanism on a VAZ 2107 car, but before that we will find out why the XX setting is performed.

Why adjust the carburetor idle speed?

A carburetor is a mechanism that feeds the air-fuel mixture into the combustion chamber of an engine in a strictly specified ratio. Depending on the quantity and composition of the mixture (the composition in this case is called "quality"), many characteristics of the engine are determined: the stability of its operation, the power and consumption of the fuel consumed.

A perfectly tuned carburetor allows you to achieve the most efficient engine operation at XX. This means that it will have stable rpm and maximum power with the lowest fuel consumption. Therefore, it is necessary to adjust idle speed on the carburetor with the following symptoms:

  • The engine is unreasonable and quite high fuel consumption... The econometric arrow constantly indicates not economical operation of the engine, and gasoline began to run out quite quickly.
  • Reduced engine power. This means that it has difficulty gaining the necessary revs before the driver engages the next gear. In addition, there may be no traction at low revs, the engine stalls, or there are dips in the gas pedal.

The main problem with the first two signs is that this can happen not only due to the fault of the carburetor. Fuel filters, pumps, and a faulty ignition system may be to blame.

  • The most important and weighty reason is that the engine does not keep idling or does not keep it stable: engine vibration is possible, and the tachometer needle will constantly change its position. Eventually, the motor stalls by itself.

How to adjust the idle speed of the carburetor on a VAZ 2107

After you have found the main signs of improper operation of the carburetor, it is necessary to adjust the idle speed. Before starting this procedure, you need to make sure that the ignition system is working correctly, the fuel filters are clean and the fuel pump is working properly, only after that you can start adjusting the idle speed.

  • First, warm up the motor to operating temperature. If this fails (engine stalls), pull out the choke manual control knob. After the engine has warmed up, muffle it and find two screws on the carburetor, which are located at an angle to each other. The one that stands perpendicular to the carburetor is called the amount screw, or in other words, the idle screw. It determines the amount of mixture that is supplied to the engine cylinders. The second screw is responsible for the ratio of gasoline to air, which is mixed in the carburetor and is called a quality screw. Tighten both screws, and then unscrew the quantity screw by 4 turns, and the quality screw by 3. Do not forget to remove the suction.
  • Start the engine again. Most likely, the rpm will not be correct, so tighten or unscrew the number screw so that the rpm is 850-900 rpm. Now use the quality screw to set the engine to the highest rpm. To do this, unscrew or tighten the screw and carefully monitor the revolutions on the tachometer. To do this, you do not need to unscrew the bolt to the end, since the quality will reach its peak and the candles will simply "flood". Unscrew it until the corresponding interruptions appear.

Please note that the idling speed of the engine varies with the season. In summer, it should not exceed 900, and in winter - 1000 rpm.

Video - Simple do-it-yourself XX setup

This is how the idle speed is regulated on the VAZ 2107 carburetor. As you can see, it is not at all difficult.

VAZ 2107 does not idle: how to cope with the problem

VAZ 2107 is not the best model among cars in its class when compared with foreign approximate counterparts. Nevertheless, due to its low price and affordable service, the car has been popular throughout the post-Soviet territory for many years. The car was produced from 1982 until 2014. That is, the oldest model is more than 30 years old. During such a period of operation, the owner will be able to face all types of malfunctions and investigate most of the causes of malfunctions.

After several years of operation, the VAZ 2107, as well as the almost identical model 2105, begins to show a new character with changes not for the better. Malfunctions associated with the power unit and its body kit are of a different nature, but symptomatic:

  • the engine stalls periodically;
  • does not keep stable momentum;
  • unstable idling;
  • hard to start;
  • insufficient power;
  • increased fuel consumption.

All malfunctions appear for two reasons: violation of adjustments or wear of parts.

Unstable operation of the injection engine

Usually expressed in a spontaneous change in engine speed. Observed while driving and at idle. The most common reason for the running speed of the VAZ2107 / 2105 injection units is the failure of the DMRV (mass air flow sensor).

This device controls the amount of air entering the engine. Based on these data, the ECU regulates the supply of the combustible mixture with the optimal ratio of fuel and air under different engine operating conditions. Accordingly, in the absence of this balance, engine speed begins to depend on the amount of oxygen supplied. That is, a breeze blew - the turnover increased, the verse - decreased.

It is quite easy to make sure that it is the DMRV that is faulty. Disconnect the device connector and the ECU will enter emergency mode. In this mode, fuel delivery is controlled by the throttle position. If the car began to behave more adequately, then the DMVR is faulty. You can drive like this, but power will drop slightly and fuel consumption will increase.

A failed mass air flow sensor cannot be repaired, with the exception of contamination, so you can try to clean it.

Algorithm for cleaning the DMVR VAZ2107 / 2105:

  1. Dismantle the sensor together with the protective cover.

  1. Unscrew the two screws and pull the sensor out of the base without touching the surfaces of the active element (current bent wire).
  2. Wash the casing with any dishwashing detergent.
  3. Using a cylinder with a cleaner for a DMVR or for a carburetor, based on alcohols (no acetone), gently clean the surfaces.
  4. Pour generously 3-4 times, the liquid should drain.
  5. Dry the device.
  6. Assemble the block in reverse order.

If the problem persists, you will have to buy a new device.

Unstable operation of the carburetor engine

The nature of unstable revolutions of a VAZ2107 / 2105 engine with carburetors is the same as that of an injection engine, in an uncontrolled supply of air or fuel to the combustion chamber.

But in this case, the carburetor is responsible for preparing the combustible mixture. This is a completely mechanical device that is responsible for the optimal ratio of fuel to oxygen for different modes of operation of the power unit.

Despite the fact that there are filters at the fuel and air inlets, they can work ineffectively, as a rule, due to a long service life exceeding that specified in the maintenance standards. As a result, small particles clog the carburetor jets.

Drivers with great experience do not stand on ceremony much, they throw the VAZ2107 / 2105 carburetor into a bucket of gasoline for a day, then blow it from all sides with compressed air and the carburetor seems to be working normally. This is a normal solution, but flammable. Among the causes of engine malfunctions, which are caused by a breakdown of the carburetor, one can single out:

  • displacement of the position of the adjusting screws from shock or vibration;
  • an increase in the diameter of the orifice of the nozzles due to wear;
  • damper axle wear, limiting its stroke;
  • clogging of the jets;
  • violation of the tightness of the float.

To determine the malfunction of the VAZ2107 / 2105 carburetor, and it is likely to be complex, start by checking the float for leaks. To do this, remove it from the carburetor top cover (it must be dismantled). If there is gasoline in the float - discard the float, if there is air - check in a basin of water for bubbles. Suppose he passed the exam, then it is necessary to check the gap.

Lift the carburetor cover upright. The gap between the float chamber and the carburetor wall should be 6.5 mm.

Install the carburetor cover and run the engine for 30 seconds. Remove the cover. The gasoline level should be exactly in the middle of the tapered surface of the carburetor body. If this does not work out, you should slightly bend the angle of the float rod.

Over time, air and fuel jets will either clog or wear out. In the first case, they must be cleaned and blown out. In the second case, you should check the throughput of the nozzles using a water tank installed above the measured nozzle by 1 meter. They are connected by a tube. A volumetric flask is installed at the bottom. Measurements are carried out in units of cm3 / min. Depending on the marking of the jet, the volume of liquid collected per minute in a volumetric flask must correspond.

It is much easier to buy a set of jets and replace them after 7-10 years of carburetor operation.

Those who use gas installations should be aware that the carburetor is not used when driving on gas. Over time, oxide forms inside the dry jets, which clogs the fuel supply holes. A petrol car may not start. It is recommended to periodically use gasoline.

Carburetor adjustment

Carburetor adjustment consists of several steps:

  1. Adjust the float position as described above.
  2. Check and refit the "quality" and "quantity" screws. Screw them all the way in and unscrew 2-3 turns for the "quality" screw and 3-4 for the "quantity" screw.
  3. Connect a tachometer or auto-tester to the "K" terminal of the ignition coil, and the second probe to the body.
  4. Start and warm up the engine to a temperature of 90 ° C

  1. Use the "quality" screw to set the maximum idle speed. Gasoline flow is increased by turning the screw counterclockwise.
  2. Use the “quantity” screw to set the speed higher, approximately 80-90 rpm.
  3. Using the quality screw, we determine whether these revolutions are maximum, if not, then we repeat the procedure.
  4. If the position of the quantity screw does not affect the engine speed, tighten the quality screw so that the speed drops to 800-900 rpm.

This carburetor adjustment may not be entirely accurate, but does not require special equipment.

If the car stalled

An engine that suddenly stalls not only creates an inconvenience while driving, but also poses a safety hazard to the driver and passengers. There are several reasons.

Stalls at idle speed:

  • failure of the idle sensor;
  • failure of the throttle sensor;
  • failure of the throttle position sensor.

Stalls on the move:

  • cutoff of fuel or air supply due to a dirty filter;
  • fuel pump malfunction;
  • clogging of the carburetor jets;
  • overheating of the engine.

It is better to start diagnostics of a car whose engine stalls in the most unexpected places by checking the idle speed sensor.

It is easy to check its performance. Dismantle the device without removing the contacts, or connect them after dismantling. Hold the device in your hands, put your finger on the cone needle and ask your friend to turn on the ignition. If you feel jolts, then put the device back. The idle sensor is OK.

If the throttle sensor is out of order, then the car will not only stall, but also will not start, because the ECU will give the command for maximum fuel emission, the candles will fill up and the engine stalled.

If you are on the road in a VAZ car and there is a problem with the throttle sensor, then it is easier not to bother and contact the nearest service, but if you reached the garage, you can use the following instruction:

  1. Remove the sensor.
  2. Using a 2 mm drill, drill out the plastic cover in a circle.
  3. Take out the plastic pad of the upper contact block.
  4. At the bottom deck, clean the tracks with WD-40 or rubbing alcohol.
  5. The same is with the contact group of the top cover, but do not bend them, they will then prematurely eat the tracks.
  6. Reassemble in reverse order.
  7. Coat the contour with any glue for plastic.

Not enough air

Often the car starts up well, it rides on suction, but as soon as the suction is turned off, the engine stalls. This says only one thing - lack of air. The air jets are most likely clogged. They must be unscrewed and cleaned. Then check that the car should not stall without suction.

There are an incredible number of reasons for the poor-quality operation of car units with similar symptoms, but only a specialist with a set of professional diagnostic tools can figure them out. But if you feel confident in yourself - go for it, in VAZ car services they are already waiting for you.

Idle speed adjustment on the VAZ 2101-VAZ 2107

Welcome!
Idling - Over time, a person who uses a car with impaired idling decides to adjust it, because as we all know, if the idle speed is too low, the engine will stall from time to time, and if it is too high, then the fuel consumption of this the engine increases and here you have to look for, as they say, the golden mean.

But in order to find this middle, you first need to learn how to adjust the idle speed on the car, and not all people know how to adjust the idle speed. Therefore, today we will examine the issue of idle speed adjustment on cars of the "Classic" family.

Note!
You only need one screwdriver for adjustment!

Summary:

Idling Adjustment Tips:
Firstly, the adjustment must be carried out at the engine operating temperature (90-95 ° C), as well as when adjusting the air filter must be installed on the car.

Secondly, when adjusting the idle speed, the fuel level that is in the carburetor's float chamber must be adjusted.

Thirdly, the valve clearances must also be adjusted and the ignition timing of the car must be adjusted.

Fourthly, when adjusting the idle speed, the air damper should be fully open; this can be checked by removing the roof from the air filter housing and, as a result, looking at the damper.

Fifth, adjusting the idle speed of a car is not always easy for a beginner, because adjusting the crankshaft rotation and adjusting the carbon monoxide (CO) content must be done together.

Note!
For a more accurate adjustment of the idle speed, it is necessary to use the "Gas Analyzer" which most owners do not have at all. But the adjustment can also be made without this device, but only this will be more difficult! (How to make adjustments without this device, see the heading: "Adjusting idle speed without a gas analyzer")

How to adjust idle speed on a VAZ 2101-VAZ 2107?

Before proceeding with the adjustment, see the photo below:

Note!
Let's start with the fact that the photo above shows the screws, thanks to which the idle speed is adjusted. As you can see, the screws are located deep in the carburetor throttle body, so the screw under the number "1" is not visible in the photo. On some cars, bushings are pressed onto both of these screws, thanks to which the screws can only be turned half a turn. If, due to these bushings, it is not possible to turn the idle speed adjustment screw properly, then remove the screws and, as a result, break the heads of the bushings. When the screws are unscrewed, wipe off the remnants of the broken bushings from them and then tighten the screws in their place!

Idle speed adjustment using the Gas analyzer device:

Note!
So that you understand in more detail, when the screw is tightened, the crankshaft speed will gradually decrease, and with the opposite effect, that is, when it is unscrewed, the speed will gradually increase!

2) Now, smoothly go to adjusting the "CO" content in the exhaust gases, for this, turn the screw indicated under the number "1" in the photo above. When screwing in the screw under the number "1", the content of "CO" in the exhaust gases will gradually decrease, and when unscrewed, it will increase accordingly.

Note!
It is necessary to regulate the content of "CO" in the exhaust gases in accordance with the "GOST" at the present time. It is not necessary to lower the content of "CO" below the norm, because in this regard, the content of unburned hydrocarbons "CH" may sharply increase. By the way, when adjusting the screw "1", it can change the crankshaft speed!

3) And finally, turn the screw under the number "2", thereby bringing the crankshaft speed back to normal. After that, it is also recommended to check the "CO" content in the exhaust gases using a device. If it is necessary to re-adjust both screws, adjust them until the engine operation and the emission of "CO" into the atmosphere will not reach the norm.

Note!
After all adjustments, sit in the car and sharply press and then release the gas pedal. Make sure that when you press the pedal, the engine works without interruption, and when you release it, the engine of the car should not stall. If the engine stalls after releasing the gas pedal, then increase the crankshaft rotation speed to "800 rpm". The crankshaft speed is regulated by the screw under the number "2"!

Idle speed adjustment without gas analyzer:

1) To begin with, slowly begin to rotate the screw of the mixture composition, which is indicated under the number "1". Rotate it until the crankshaft speed is maximum. (The frequency of rotation of the crankshaft can be very easily recognized by the readings of the tachometer)

Note!
By rotating this screw, the exhaust of harmful substances into the atmosphere is regulated. When this screw is screwed in, the amount of "CO" emitted into the atmosphere will decrease, and when unscrewed, on the contrary, it will increase!

2) Then, with the screw under the number "2", set the crankshaft speed to "1100 rpm".

Note!
The screw under the number "2" regulates the crankshaft rotation speed, therefore, when this screw is tightened, the rotational speed will gradually decrease, respectively, when unscrewed, it will gradually increase!

3) And at the end, tightening the screw of the mixture composition (Digit 1), make sure that the crankshaft rotation speed is "800 rpm".

Situations when the VAZ injector starts up immediately, after which it immediately stalls, arise quite often. And all because of the fuel injection system (forced type). To remedy this situation, car owners often use a heating plug, but this is not a solution to the problem, but only a temporary measure. If the VAZ 2107 starts up and stalls immediately after turning the key in the ignition lock, then in most cases this indicates a problem in the delivery of fuel (the fuel pump is clogged or does not work properly), or the quality of the fuel used leaves much to be desired, and the nozzles are simply clogged. And the car starts only on the remains of fuel in the cylinders.

Finding the defective component

So, what should you do if the engine starts easily, but after that it immediately slows down and stalls? The first step is to check for carbon deposits on the candles. If some of them are covered with a layer of carbon, then the engine a priori cannot work normally. It first starts up due to the movement of the starter, but immediately after that it slows down, since several cylinders are physically unable to withstand the entire load from the crankshaft. The carburetor, by the way, can also fail due to such a problem.

So what is the cause of the engine malfunction? If the car starts, then at least the spark is fine. That is, the electrician works as expected. It will not be superfluous to unwind the heads and try to find those candles that are covered with a layer of carbon. You can clean them by burning them over a gas burner and cleaning alcohol (this can be done only when the contacts are cold).

The injector itself can also become clogged. In this case, the fuel supply to the combustion chamber simply does not work. The following actions should be performed:

  • remove the blocks and check the dampers;
  • check the operation of the sensors;
  • check if the engine runs normally at temperatures above 80 ° C.

Naturally, the fuel pump itself can malfunction. At the time of starting the engine, it turns into the injector automatically due to the starter, and then there is traction from the generator. If one of these components does not work properly, the car will simply stall. Here again we are talking about the residual fuel quantity in the cylinders. If the engine immediately stalls, and the starter works unevenly with it, then, most likely, the problem is either in it or in the ignition lock.

You should try to replace it with a known good one and retest the engine operation. In extreme cases, the contacts are simply clamped.

What if the problem is in the ECU?

The engine may not work properly if the on-board computer malfunctions. In VAZ, it is he who is responsible for the timely supply of fuel, synchronization of the operation of the injector injector and spark plugs. When the engine immediately stalls, this indicates a mismatch between the timing of the fuel supply and the ignition of the fuel mixture.

As a rule, changing the firmware or restoring it to the factory state helps. Although sometimes it may simply be necessary to adjust the fuel supply cycle, as well as the saturation of the mixture. In extreme cases, on a VAZ 2110 (or a later model), you will have to replace the entire ECU unit or turn it off, putting the engine into operation only from mechanics.

It should be noted that not only the ECU itself is responsible for the operation of the engine, but also a bunch of sensors that regulate the pressure in the injector, the saturation of the mixture, and the ignition moment.

That is, you need to check their work. Although, when a malfunction of one of them is detected, a Check Engine signal should be sent to the dashboard. This, for example, happens when the VAZ 2110 starts up. This does not happen only if the ECU simply does not receive signals from the sensors. It is worth noting that in the 2107 model, the computer is not installed by default, but the injector does not work without it.

Similar problems arise when the carburetor is synthetically altered for an injector, but the same on-board computer remains. They just change the firmware, connect new modules, but you need to understand that it was not originally designed for such work. Thus, if the carburetor is altered, then along with it, the ECU must be changed to a compatible model. Fortunately, VAZ took care of their release.

So, if the injector starts up and immediately stalls, then the main reasons for such a malfunction are malfunctions in the electronics (including the computer), improper operation of the fuel system, or problems with filtering gasoline. It is not a problem to identify the root cause. As a last resort, you can always contact the service station center. But it is worth remembering that any adjustments to the operation of the on-board computer can be made only with a completely serviceable engine.

If your car VAZ-2107 has a malfunction, as a result of which the engine stalls, then further movement becomes problematic. But to find the cause of this malfunction for the G7 injection engine is quite difficult without the presence of diagnostic equipment, since, unfortunately, there are many reasons why the crankshaft stops rotating.

Most often, an injection engine stalls during operation idle move... The throttle assembly with an idle speed controller (IAC) may be involved in this malfunction, since during the engine operation the throttle unit can become very dirty, which leads to jamming of the IAC rod. To check this assumption, it will have to be removed, and in the presence of contamination, carefully rinse with a liquid well-washing oil mixed with dirt.

If you have a VAZ-2107 on your car alarms, which works with the electric circuit of the gasoline pump, the reason why the engine stalls may be the poor-quality work of those who installed it. If they did it on twists, then the poorly compressed twist weakens over time and, as a result, contact is lost. As a result, the electric fuel pump stops working.

A possible reason for the engine stalling can be re-enrichment of the combustible mixture... This can be checked by removing the spark plugs. If they are covered with black carbon, then the mixture is rich. The amount of gasoline supplied to the engine cylinders depends on the position of the throttle valve and the correct reading of the temperature sensor, which is wrapped to the left at the rear of the cylinder head. When replacing it, you will have to partially drain the antifreeze from the cooling system.

Failure also leads to a strong enrichment of the mixture. mass air flow sensor(DMRV). You can check its condition with a multimeter. The measurement is made between the green and red wires (the 2nd and 4th terminals, if you count from left to right) with the ignition on. If the voltage is more than 1.002 volts, then it will have to be replaced.

With a strong depletion of the combustible mixture, the engine will also stall. And its depletion occurs due to air leaks behind the throttle assembly. Possible places for air leakage are usually the gaskets of the intake system, either as a result of loosening the fasteners of the parts between which they stand, or because of their breakdown. The air leaks can be found with a smoker used by beekeepers. Having smoked the engine compartment with it, it will be immediately visible where the smoke is drawn in. And at decent service stations, instead of a smoker, they use a device called a smoke generator.

Despite the development of the auto industry, the classic VAZ models are still in great demand in the CIS countries. The latest models of the "Classic", namely the VAZ-2107, were equipped with an injector intake system. It is more reliable than a carburetor one. But what to do if the VAZ-2107 starts up and stalls? The injector is a more complex system. But the problem can be solved by hand. Let's take a look at how to do this.

Does the starter turn?

First, you need to check the voltage in the vehicle's on-board network. For normal start-up of the machine, this indicator should not be lower than 12.5 V. To accurately measure the voltage, you must use a voltmeter.

A starter is a mechanism that requires a large starting current. It is this assembly that turns the crankshaft to start. Therefore, if the VAZ-2107 (injector) does not start, the reasons may be trivial - low battery voltage. Elimination method - battery charging. You should adhere to indicators of 12.5-14 Volts.

Starter breakage

If there is a short in the body or armature wiring, replace the damaged part. How do I check an item? To do this, you need to use a multimeter. One wire is connected to the friction point of the brushes, and the second to the armature axis. If the arrow of the device deviated from the values, this may be a malfunction of the armature or winding. Check the brushes. They should move easily, and their springs should be elastic and press well on the anchor. After replacing damaged components, start the engine again.

Ignition system

What to do if the VAZ-2107 (injector) does not start with a well-charged battery and a working starter? The reasons may lie in the ignition system. Here it is of the contactless type. The first thing to check is the condition of the candles. They can simply be "flooded". Unscrew the elements outward and inspect the condition of the electrode. If there is plaque, the part should be cleaned in an alkaline solution and screwed back. You should also check the gap between the electrode. To do this, use a special probe. The normal reading should be between 0.7 and 1 millimeter.

What if the indicator does not correspond to the norm? The electrode can be bent. But do it carefully. If the indicator is less than normal, use a minus screwdriver. If more, tap with an electrode on a metal part (for example, an engine valve cover). It will be useful to check the candles for the generation of a spark. For this, a special pistol is used. The spark itself should be blue. If the parts have traveled more than 60 thousand kilometers, they should be replaced. Also, when this period is reached, those coming to them from the ignition distributor change.

When the candles are filled

If the VAZ-2107 injector does not start well (it catches, but does not start), then the combustion chamber is overflowing with gasoline. The normal fuel to air ratio should be 1:14. This problem often occurs on these vehicles. The fuel pump pumps a lot of gas when starting. By the way, on injection motors, it is electric, submersible. Installed directly into the tank.

How to dry candles without removing them? To do this, open the throttle valve when starting. It is mechanical here and is activated by pressing the throttle trigger through the cable drive. This will allow more air to enter the combustion chamber and the engine will start immediately.

Trambler

The VAZ-2107 uses a distributor ignition. If it is necessary to check the condition of the contacts on the high-voltage wires. Condensation forms on them when the season changes. The distributor has five outputs.

Four of them go to the cylinder plugs, and one (center) goes to the ignition coil. A white coating often forms on the metal ends. Because of it, the slider will not be able to transmit impulses to the coil. By the way, it will be useful to check the ignition distributor itself. The detail looks like this.

If it is burnt, the part should be replaced. The price of a new item is 150 rubles. If a spark forms on the ignition coil when starting the engine, replace the high-voltage wire. He also "breaks through" on the candlesticks. You can see it in the dark. Small sparkles of blue are visible near them. In this case, the wires are changed as a set. They are inexpensive. New elements cost about 700 rubles.

Electric pump problem

Previously, one of the main problems on the domestic "Classic" concerned the fuel pump, which was constantly overheating. But in the fuel-injected "seven" it is electric and is cooled by the gasoline itself, which is in the tank. If no electricity is supplied to the element, the car simply will not start. The first thing to look out for is the fuse box.

It is written on the cover which one is responsible for the fuel pump. If the fuse is blown, replace it. A 15 or 20 Amp cell can be used.

Determine serviceability visually

Is it possible to check if there is voltage to the fuel pump without a multimeter? To do this, when you turn on the ignition, you should carefully listen to its work. When the key is turned to the third position, it should emit a characteristic hum. It can be heard in the rear of the passenger compartment. If it is not there and the VAZ-2107 (injector) does not start, the problem is in the voltage supply. It is worth checking the pump relay. It should emit characteristic clicks. Experienced motorists carry spare relays and fuses with them in case of sudden breakdowns. This relay is located on a shelf under the glove compartment.

Low pressure

Why does the VAZ-2107 (injector) not start? Problems can be hidden in the low level of the fuel line pressure. For a normal start of the injection engine, at least 2.8 atmospheres is required. You can check this by disconnecting the supply tube from the ramp. Use a pressure gauge for this. Malfunctions with the pump can occur due to frequent overheating. But how does this happen if it is a submersible type? The fuel pump kills driving on an empty tank. If the light comes on, do not overtighten with refueling. The cost of a pump for an injection "seven" is 3 times higher than for a carburetor one.

Filter condition

The following situation also happens. You arrived at your destination, turned off the engine for two minutes, got into the car and could not start it again. What to do if VAZ-2107 (injector) This may be due to a clogged fuel filter. Its replacement period is about 50 thousand kilometers. A dirty air filter is also to blame for a difficult start.

If it has traveled more than ten thousand kilometers, then it must be replaced. Otherwise, you will run into startup problems.

VAZ-2107: the injector starts up and immediately stalls

In this case, check the MAF sensor. It is located just behind the plastic filter housing.

This element perceives information about the air flow and transmits it to the control unit. As a result, the electronics decide on the composition of the combustible mixture. The unit can intentionally adjust the concentration of fuel and air. The service life of the DMRV sensor is 150 thousand kilometers. The element can give false readings if contaminated. Because of the VAZ-2107, the injector does not start or it works and immediately stalls. You should also check the condition of the air connections for leaks. Replace if necessary.

DPKV

If, with a working fuel system, the VAZ-2107 (injector) car does not start, if it is faulty, the control unit will stop supplying fuel due to the lack of information about its position. The cost of this element ranges from one to one and a half thousand rubles.

Conclusion

So, we found out for what reasons the VAZ-2107 car does not start. As you can see, you can find and fix the malfunction with your own hands, and for a small price.
