Then the first generation of the mid-size crossover became available in Japan under the name Airtrek, and only 2 years later the model reached the European and North American markets. Outlander was created on common platform with Citroen C-Cross and Peugeot 4007 and was equipped with 2 diesel and 3 gasoline power plants different power. Next, we will talk about what kind of oil and how much was poured into them.

In the first generation, the Outlander received 2.0 and 2.4-liter units with 136 and 160 hp, which in 2004 were supplemented by a 2-liter turbo engine with 201 hp. Despite the existence of front-wheel drive modifications, Outlander I was supplied to the domestic market only with all-wheel drive. Generation II (known as XL in Russia) was produced from 2006 to 2013. During this period, the SUV became a little stronger: in the basic version it was equipped with a 2-liter engine (148 hp), and the 2.4-liter version had 170 hp. In 2009, the second generation Outlander was updated, it was limited to only some cosmetic changes. The 2011 Geneva Motor Show opened a new page in the history of the SUV by showing the world its third generation. The popular car retained the same dimensions, received a redesigned front panel and several new options in the interior. After restyling in 2014, the SUV got a modified radiator grille and better sound insulation, and appearance became more prominent. Lubricants should be selected taking into account their classification according to generally accepted systems and the availability of manufacturer's tolerances for the car model of interest on a grease canister. The use of an inappropriate quality motor oil reduces the efficiency of the engine and leads to an increase in fuel consumption. This article describes the recommended engine oil for Mitsubishi Outlander.

Naturally aspirated cars

Corresponding to the characteristics Mitsubishi engine Outlander motor the oil must meet the following standards:

  • oil classes A1, A2 or A3 according to the ACEA system;
  • type of motor oil SG (or higher) in accordance with API requirements.

In the Mitsubishi Outlander manual it is indicated that the temperature affects the selection of lubricant. environment... Choose lubricating fluid follows taking into account the average monthly temperature of the air. The car manufacturer has established a relationship between the temperature conditions of the region in which the car will be used and the viscosity of the car oil. This dependence for models without turbocharging is shown in Diagram 1.

Scheme 1. Influence of air temperature on the viscosity of engine fluid for cars without turbocharging.

According to Scheme 1, it is necessary to use the following lubricants:

  • in a wide temperature range from -35 0 С (or less) to +50 0 С (and more), 5w-40 is poured;
  • if the temperature indicator is less than +40 0 С, 0w-30, 5w-30 are used;
  • the working temperature range for 10w-30 is from -25 0 С to +40 0 С;
  • 10w-40 or 10w-50 is poured if the temperature is more than -25 0 С;
  • for a temperature index above -15 0 С, greases 15w-40, 15w-50 are recommended;
  • 20w-40, 20w-50 is used if the average monthly thermometer is above -10 0 С.

The manufacturer indicates that lubricants with a viscosity of 0w-30, 5w-30 or 5w-40 are permissible to use if they meet A3 ACEA and SG (or higher) API standards.

Turbocharged cars

  • oil classes A1, A2 or A3 according to the ACEA standard;

Conclusion

Recommended engine oil for Mitsubishi Outlander is poured to eliminate the possibility of overheating power unit, as well as ensuring its protection against abrasion. When using auto oils recommended by the car dealer, it is forbidden to pour in additional additives, they can accelerate the wear of the power unit.

The manufacturer indicated that even the recommended engine oil, after a certain period of time, begins to lose its original properties "aging". The processes of "aging" of the lubricant are inevitable regardless of the base from which it is made (synthetic, semi-synthetic, mineral). Therefore, it is necessary to change the lubricant in a timely manner.

The last third generation of the famous Mitsubishi Outlander has been produced from 2012 to our time. The car is based on the Mitsubishi GS. Has a complete set gasoline units 2.0, 2.4, 3.0. and a turbodiesel 2.2 liter engine. In 2015, he underwent a facelift, thanks to which the external outlines became more modern.

Service in the form of changing the Outlander 3 oil is no more difficult to perform than other Mitsubishi models. The principle remains the same for everyone. I poured the old working off, poured the new fresh one. Together with the oil, the cleaning filter and, if necessary, the O-ring are replaced.

Important! The oil change interval is 10,000 km for diesel engines and 15,000 km of gasoline.

Filling volumes and oil selection

  • 5W-30;
  • 5W-40;
  • 0W-40;

Volume required oil depends on the configuration of the engine and its power:

  • Gasoline 2.0 (BSY) - eats 4.3 liters;
  • Another gasoline 2.4 (4B12 and 4G69) - ~ 4.6 liters.

The 5W-30 oil is versatile and can be filled into all outlander engines 3.

Choosing a manufacturer is not an easy matter, but original oil Moitsubishi Oil is not a verdict, you can choose other decent companies:

Motul 8100 X-max SAE 0w40,

Mobil 1 and others.

Together with the lubricating fluid, the cleaning filter must also be changed. You can find it by the article (number MZ690070).
