What kind of oil is better to fill in Mitsubishi Outlander. Recommended engine oil for Mitsubishi Outlander. Catalog numbers and prices for replacing Outlander HL oil

The lineup Mitsubishi Outlander was introduced in 2001. Then the first generation of the mid-size crossover became available in Japan under the name Airtrek, and only 2 years later the model reached the European and North American markets. Outlander was created on common platform with Citroen C-Cross and Peugeot 4007 and was equipped with 2 diesel and 3 gasoline power plants different power. Next, we will talk about what kind of oil and how much was poured into them.

In the first generation, the Outlander received 2.0 and 2.4-liter units with 136 and 160 hp, which in 2004 were supplemented by a 2-liter turbo engine with 201 hp. Despite the existence of front-wheel drive modifications, Outlander I was supplied to the domestic market only with four-wheel drive... Generation II (known as XL in Russia) was produced from 2006 to 2013. During this period, the SUV became a little stronger: in the basic version it was equipped with an engine with a displacement of 2 liters (148 hp), and the 2.4 liter version had 170 hp. In 2009, the second generation Outlander was updated, it was limited to only some cosmetic changes. The 2011 Geneva Motor Show opened a new page in the history of the SUV by showing the world its third generation. The popular car retained the same dimensions, received a redesigned front panel and several new options in the interior. After restyling in 2014, the SUV got a modified grille and better sound insulation, and appearance became more prominent. Ruler gasoline engines is represented by traditional units with volumes of 2.0, 2.4 and 3.0 liters (118-230 hp) and a diesel engine of 2.2 liters (150 hp).

Mitsubishi outlander III was originally adapted for Russian roads and climate and was supplied to Russia with old B-series engines (to Japan - J-series). With the same volume, power domestic models everything was lower by a few hp.

Lubricants should be selected taking into account their classification according to generally accepted systems and the availability of manufacturer's tolerances for the car model of interest on a grease canister. The use of an inappropriate quality motor oil reduces the efficiency of the engine and leads to an increase in fuel consumption. This article describes the recommended engine oil for Mitsubishi Outlander.

Model 2004 release

Naturally aspirated cars

Corresponding to the characteristics Mitsubishi engine Outlander engine oil must meet the following standards:

  • oil classes A1, A2 or A3 according to the ACEA system;
  • type of motor oil SG (or higher) in accordance with API requirements.

In the Mitsubishi Outlander manual it is indicated that the temperature affects the selection of lubricant. the environment... Choose lubricating fluid follows taking into account the average monthly temperature of the air. The car manufacturer has established a relationship between the temperature conditions of the region in which the car will be used and the viscosity of the car oil. This dependence for models without turbocharging is shown in Diagram 1.

Scheme 1. Influence of air temperature on the viscosity of engine fluid for cars without turbocharging.

According to Scheme 1, it is necessary to use the following lubricants:

  • in a wide temperature range from -35 0 С (or less) to +50 0 С (and more), 5w-40 is poured;
  • if the temperature indicator is less than +40 0 С, 0w-30, 5w-30 are used;
  • the operating temperature range for 10w-30 is from -25 0 С to +40 0 С;
  • 10w-40 or 10w-50 is poured if the temperature is more than -25 0 С;
  • for a temperature index above -15 0 С, greases 15w-40, 15w-50 are recommended;
  • 20w-40, 20w-50 is used if the average monthly thermometer is above -10 0 С.

The manufacturer indicates that lubricants with a viscosity of 0w-30, 5w-30 or 5w-40 are permissible to use if they meet A3 according to the ACEA system and SG (or higher) according to API standards.

Turbocharged cars

  • oil classes A1, A2 or A3 according to the ACEA standard;
  • SG (or higher) by API classification.

The viscosity of the lubricant is selected according to scheme 2.

Scheme 2. Influence of air temperature on the selection of engine oil fluidity.
  • 20w-40 with a thermometer reading over -10 0 С;
  • 15w-40, if the air temperature is more than -15 0 С;
  • 10w-40 with a temperature index greater than -25 0 С;
  • the working temperature range for 10w-30 is from -25 0 С to +40 0 С;
  • 5w-30 is used at temperatures less than -25 0 С.
  • viscosity index 10w-30 or 10w-40;
  • operating conditions according to ACEA A3-02;

Refueling volumes

The volume of engine fluid required when replacing is:

  • 4.0 l for the engine crankcase;
  • 0.3 l into the oil filter;
  • 0.3 L in oil radiator cars with an engine capacity of 2400 cm 3 and mechanical box gear shifting.

Mitsubishi Outlander XL 2006-2012 years of release

2008 model

For Mitsubishi Outlander, the car manufacturer recommends using motor oils that meet the requirements:

  • ILSAC certified lubricants;
  • according to ACEA, classes of liquids A1 / B1, A3 / B3, A3 / B4, A5 / B5;
  • oil type SG (or higher) according to API classification.

The choice of the viscosity parameters of the motor oil is carried out using scheme 1. Please note: the use of 0w-30, 5w-30 or 5w-40 is permissible if the lubricants correspond to A3 / B3, A3 / B4, A5 / B5 according to ACEA and SG (or higher) in accordance with the standards API.

The use of original lubricants ensures stable and long-term ICE operation, provided that the class, type and viscosity of the lubricant correspond to the parameters of the car engine and the season overboard. For the summer use thick oils, more fluid for the winter. All-season fluids are poured if the air temperature corresponds to the operating temperatures of the grease.

The filling capacity of the Mitsubishi Outlander oil pan is 4.0 liters, and the oil filter is 0.3 liters. Overall volume lubricant required when replacing is 4.3 liters.

  • certified motor fluid according to ILSAC standards;
  • API grade SM (or higher).

The choice of the viscosity of the lubricant is carried out according to scheme 3.

Scheme 3. Influence of the temperature of the region in which the machine will be operated on the selection of motor lubricant.
  • 20w-40, 20w-50 at a temperature index greater than -10 0 С.
  • 15w-40, 15w-50 if the temperature is above -15 0 С;
  • 10w-30, 10w-40 or 10w-50 pour if the temperature is more than -25 0 С;
  • 0w-20 *, 0w-30, 5w-30, 5w-40 are poured in at a temperature range from -35 0 С (or less) to +50 0 С (and more).

(*) - lubricants SAE 0w-20, 0w-30, 5w-30, 5w-40 are used provided they comply with ACEA A3 / B3, A3 / B4 or A5 / B5, and API SM or higher.

The volume of engine oil required when replacing is 4.3 liters, taking into account filling tank oil filter 0.3 l.

Conclusion

Recommended engine oil for Mitsubishi Outlander is poured to exclude the possibility of overheating of the power unit, as well as to ensure its protection against abrasion. When using auto oils recommended by the car dealer, it is forbidden to pour in additional additives, they can accelerate the wear of the power unit.

The manufacturer indicated that even the recommended engine oil, after a certain period of time, begins to lose its original properties, "aging". The processes of "aging" of the lubricant are inevitable regardless of the base from which it is made (synthetic, semi-synthetic, mineral). Therefore, it is necessary to change the lubricant in a timely manner.

Not indicated

Note:

Viscosity is the most important property of an oil. Its change depending on temperature determines the limits of the temperature range of the oil application. At low temperatures the oil should not have a high viscosity in order to ensure a cold start of the engine (cranking with a starter) and pumping through the lubrication system by the pump. At high temperatures, the oil should not have a very low viscosity in order to maintain the required pressure in the system and reliably create a lubricating film between the rubbing parts.

The Outlander XL engine is filled with oil recommended by the manufacturer. The type of this oil can be viewed.

But if the operating conditions of the car differ from those prescribed in the manual for this oil, you should know what kind of oil you need to fill in the Outlander XL engine. To do this, you need to look at the classification of oils according to SAE, depending on the temperature of its operation.

Below are some of the features of 5W-40 and 5W-30 synthetic oils.

1. Fully synthetic oils viscosity 5W-40 and 5W-30 are recommended for machines not equipped preheaters and working in the northern regions of Russia.

2. Fully synthetic oils with a viscosity of 5W-40 and 5W-30 cannot be poured into outdated motors that have worked for mineral oil of low quality, since, due to the high detergency of synthetics, the slags accumulated in the engines will be dissolved and the diesel engine starts to sweat intensively with oil. Also, oil starvation is not excluded, caused by the clogging of washed out deposits of the channels of the lubrication system.

3. Fully synthetic oils with viscosity of 5W-40 and 5W-30 are not recommended to be filled into worn power units, which, due to the increased clearances in the parts of the cylinder-piston group, have high consumption oils for waste. Expensive oil will simply fly out of the exhaust pipe.

4. Fully synthetic oils with viscosity of 5W-40 and 5W-30 resist oxidation well, which means they can be used in engines working with maximum load and / or in hot climates. This characteristic also contributes to an extended oil drain interval.

5. Fully synthetic oils with viscosity 5W-40 and 5W-30 thanks to high index viscosity and lower internal fluid friction reduce the load on the starter and battery when starting the engine.

6. Fully synthetic oils with viscosity of 5W-40 and 5W-30, due to their good low temperature pumpability, help to facilitate engine starting at low temperatures. Depending on the specific operating conditions, consumers may find it beneficial for themselves not to use pre-heaters.

7. Fully synthetic oils with viscosity of 5W-40 and 5W-30, having a higher cost than their semi-synthetic counterparts, have a longer service life, which covers the initial cost of purchasing the oil.

It is not difficult to change the oil in the Mitsubishi Outlander CL engine, even if you do it yourself. The engine oil is changed regularly, at every MOT.

When to change, how much and what kind of oil to fill in Outlander HL

  • Replacement frequency engine oil is 15,000 km or once a year. However, given the difficult operating conditions, we will not be ashamed to change the oil every 10,000 km, or even earlier. There will definitely not be any harm from this, except for the wallet.
  • Filling volume engine oil 2.4 - 4.6 liters (together with 0.3 liters of oil filter).
  • It is recommended to fill engine oil SAE viscosity 0W30 or SAE 5W30, quality not lower than API SM / SJ, ILSAC GF-4.

How to change the oil in the Outlander HL engine

Unforgettable that the oil changes in the car only when the engine is warm!

Having put the car on a viewing hole or overpass, open the hood, unscrew the filler neck, to make the oil drain faster... After these procedures, we move under the car and unscrew the engine protection to gain access to the traffic jam drain hole and drain the oil into a container prepared in advance.

Like oil glass, unscrew and oil filter as it must be replaced with the oil. Then we change the sealing ring of the drain plug, twist it and proceed to installing the protection in place. Next, pour oil into the engine and check the level with a dipstick.

After the engine oil has been changed, do not forget to set the mileage until the next MOT.

You can also look more about the Mitsubishi Outlander XL diesel. The procedure is similar, but there are some minor differences.
