Hello everyone! So I decided to talk to you about the Renault Logan hitch. But why this particular car? Objectively, it is one of the most popular cars in Russia and many CIS countries. Despite some of the disadvantages of this French creation, it has a number of significant advantages. But let's not spray on the discussion of the machine itself, but rather talk about a towbar or a towing device for it.

Now let's talk about how to install a towing hitch with your own hands. There is nothing particularly complicated in this procedure. Logan is perfectly adapted to the installation of the towbar. The greatest difficulty for an inexperienced car owner will be wiring and an electrician.


But having at hand the necessary dimensional drawings, factory diagrams and instructions, the work will take place.lo, quickly and end with pleasant fatigue.

  • Select the optimum position for the hitch ball. It must be placed so that it is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the car;
  • Now it is the turn to mount the towing hook. Nothing complicated here either;

  • Go over the entire structure with your eagle gaze. If everything is even, then feel free to tighten the bolts;
  • Put your muffler back in place;
  • Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery, since it is time to install the electrical component;
  • To do this, the spare wheel is removed, and under the casing there is a hole for the wires. It is closed with a plastic plug;
  • Connect the ribbon cable through the socket to the connection terminals in the trunk. Do everything here according to the wiring diagram of your car. By mixing up the wires, you risk encountering a short circuit, and not only;


  • After fixing the contacts on the terminal block, connect it to on-board network following a certain sequence;

Installation and fixing

The assembled device must be tried on to the installation site. You need to know that the installation of a roof rack for the corresponding car model does not require drilling holes. They are already there. You only need to remove the rubber plugs that are installed in these holes. It is enough just to insert the bolts and tighten the nuts properly. You can make a towbar for Renault Logan with your own hands, but the drawings must be studied very carefully. If we are talking about a car from phase 1 or 2, read the text below. Drawings are not suitable for "phase 3", that is, for sedans last generation.

The entire structure consists of three assemblies - two flanges and one beam. The side flanges will be referred to as brackets. Their drawing is shown in the photo.

The complete beam includes five parts. The beam itself is a pipe with external dimensions 60 by 40. You can use a pipe with a cross section of 40 by 40, but then the cutout in the "cheek" will decrease: dimensions 50 and 115 will become equal to 40 and 125. Everything is simple here.

Please note - the M12 nut must be welded to the flange. If it is impossible to do this, mounting holes are drilled in the pipe wall. But it is better not to do this - the beam must remain airtight!

For those who do not know how to use welding, it is easier to forget about making something like this.

The thickness of the steel sheet must be at least 3 mm. The wall thickness of the beam is 2.5 mm. Less is impossible!

It is important to follow one rule: at first, all the nuts only get rich. When the hitch is assembled, it is necessary to pull the beam back with effort. And at this time, without releasing the beam, the M10 nuts are tightened in turn.
