In a gray version, when a matte without a gloss, the surface of the housing is slightly different, the S60 is indistinguishable with the sight of S90 - it seems that the body is made of metal. But when you take a smartphone in your hands, the illusion is dissipated - the device is too light, and it doesn't look like a metal coating at all.

The quality of the assembly does not cause complaints, the squeaks during compression of the case is not heard, Lenovo S60 has a monoblock structure and the designer is extremely tight. In the hand, due to the matte cover, the case does not slide and is not covered by fingerprints, it remains in the present-time form for a long time. Due to the small mass, the smartphone is quite comfortable in any pocket, the device is not too fun, even despite the large five-inch screen.

The facial part of the case is completely covered with flat protective glass without sideboards. At the top of the glass, the slot is cut for the dynamics, there are eyes of the sensors and the front chamber next to it. In contrast to the same S90, they did not fight here to embed such a useful element as a LED alert indicator. The round point shines when charging the battery and any incoming events, the indicator operation is adjusted by the user in the corresponding settings menu item.

But on the provision of backlighting the sensory buttons developers, as in the case of S90, decided, unfortunately, do not worry. As a result, painted paint pictograms become indistinguishable in the twilight.

On the back of the case, the main chamber module and a single-section LED flash are traditionally accommodated. The camera module beyond the surface does not repel.

The grilles covering the speaker, on the back side of the housing, it is embedded in the bottom end. Screen

Lenovo S60 is equipped with an IPS sensory matrix with dimensions of 62 × 111 mm, a diagonal of 5 inches and a resolution of 1280 × 720 points. Accordingly, the density of the points is 294 PPI. Lenovo S60 screen is the same dark (brightness of photographs 114 in both). When manually controlling the brightness and when the white field is output, the maximum brightness value was about 530 kD / m², the minimum - 14 cd / m². The maximum brightness is very high, and considering excellent anti-reflective properties, readability even on a sunny day outside the room should be at a good level. In complete dark, brightness can be reduced to a comfortable value. As a result, the functions of the auto-adjustment of the brightness works, but not quite adequately. At any level of brightness, the backlight modulation is practically absent, so there is no screen flicker.

The screen has good viewing angles without a significant shift of colors, even at large viewing deviations from perpendicular to the screen and without inverting (except the most dark with the rejection of the view of one diagonal) shades. For comparison, we give the photos on which the same images are displayed on the Lenovo S60 and Nexus 7 screens, while the brightness of the screens is initially installed by about 200 kD / m² (on the white field in full screen), and the color balance on the camera is forcibly switched to 6500 K. Due to the dynamic and very aggressive adjustment of the brightness of the backlight in accordance with the nature of the displayed image (the brightness of the brightness decreases) the resulting brightness dependence on the shade (gamma curve) does not correspond to the gamma curve of the static image, since the measurements were carried out with a consistent output of shades of gray almost in full screen. For this reason, a series of tests - the definition of contrast and response time, comparing the illumination of black at angles - we were performed in the output of special templates with constant medium brightness, and not one-photo fields in full screen. We give the dependence of the brightness (vertical axis) from time when switching from a black field to white in half the screen alternately, the average brightness does not change and the dynamic adjustment of the illumination brightness does not work (graph 50%/50% ). And the same dependence, but with the alternate output of the fields in full screen (schedule 100% ), while the average brightness is already changing and the dynamic adjustment of the brightness of the backlight works in all:

In general, such an unleated brightness correction, nothing but harm does not bring, as it reduces the distinguishability of gradations in the shadows in the case of dark images. In addition, this dynamic adjustment in the output of any image other than the white field in full screen, significantly underestimates the brightness, which worsens readability on bright light.

The balance of shades on the gray scale is compromise, as the color temperature is noticeably higher than the standard 6500 K and the deviation from the spectrum of absolutely black body (ΔE) greater than 10, which even for the consumer device is considered a bad indicator. However, the color temperature and Δe change little from the shade to the shade - this has a positive effect on the visual assessment of the color balance. (The darkest areas of the gray scale can not be considered, since there the balance of colors does not matter, and the measurement error of the color characteristics on the low brightness is large.)

In complete darkness, brightness can be reduced to a comfortable level. However, taking into account the importance of the characteristics for this class of devices, the screen quality can be considered quite high.

Sound

The main, rear chamber is equipped with a 13 megapixel module with a diaphragm F / 2.0, autofocus and single LED flash. Performance

The Lenovo S60 hardware platform is based on a single-chip soc Qualcomm Snapdragon 410. The platform is already well studied, this is a 64-bit solution, but it belongs to the initial level, the possibilities of this SOC are small.
