How many liters are poured into the box? We change the oil in the gearbox. Types of oil that are poured into the gearbox

Correct operation of the transmission unit on the VAZ 2114 is only possible with timely maintenance of the gearbox. One of the important aspects of maintenance is replacing the lubricant. To prevent the gearbox from experiencing oil starvation when it is underfilled, you need to know how much oil is in the VAZ 2114 gearbox.

[Hide]

How to determine the required amount of oil for a VAZ 2114 gearbox?

According to official data, the transmission volume in VAZ 2114 cars is 3.5 liters. But in practice, the amount of fluid to be replaced can be 3.3 liters. This is due to the fact that when the used lubricant is drained, a certain amount of oil remains in the gearbox on the pulleys and walls.

If, when replacing, the transmission unit is flushed or major renovation, you will need 3.5 liters of liquid. It must be taken into account that during the operation of the car, natural wear and tear of parts occurs, which leads to an increase in the oil level. This is due to the fact that the constituent elements of the gearbox and its housing lose a certain volume. But the replacement level is in this case will be no more than 50-100 grams.

Which lubricant to choose?

Before refueling consumables you need to decide on the choice of oil for the VAZ 2114 gearbox, the quality of the unit’s operation will depend on this. The manufacturing plant advises consumers to choose one of three categories of lubricants.

The KOSSS102 channel talked about the choice of consumables for transmissions of VAZ 2114 cars.

Allowed use of oils:

  • mineral based;
  • with a synthetic base;
  • based on semi-synthetics.

In principle, any fluid can be used, but it is important that it meets the specifications recommended by the manufacturer:

  1. 75W-90. Synthetic consumables are characterized by good lubricating properties. Their influence makes it possible to ensure optimal operation of the machine’s transmission under operating conditions in severe frost. Main disadvantage synthetic oils lies in the loud noise that the gearbox begins to make after filling in comparison with semi-synthetics. If you choose a lubricant with a viscosity grade of 75W-90, it is important that it meets the GL-4 specification.
  2. 85W-90. The semi-synthetic consumable has good performance characteristics. The use of such oils is more advisable in vehicles with high mileage. The cost of such lubricants is less compared to synthetic substances. According to the API standard, the product must be at least GL-4.
  3. It is allowed to use mineral lubricant with viscosity type 80W90. The main disadvantage of this oil is its susceptibility to low temperatures. In severe frost, the mineral lubricant becomes thicker and loses its characteristics.

In addition to these points, when choosing a lubricant, it is important to consider the following nuances:

  • design features of the vehicle’s gearbox, as well as the vehicle’s drive;
  • climatic conditions in which it is used vehicle, in particular, if the region is characterized by frequent and sharp temperature changes;
  • the time of year during which the vehicle is used more intensively;
  • the volume of loads that fall on the gearbox when different modes functioning, as well as their nature;
  • the impact of additives in the liquid on individual components of the unit.

The Multi Dads channel spoke in detail about the choice transmission lube for gearboxes.

How often should you change the oil?

In order for the gearbox to operate without interruption, the lubricant in it must be replaced at regular intervals.

According to official data specified in the service manual, the procedure for changing consumables in the transmission should be carried out every 60 thousand kilometers. Or this must be done after four years of operation of the machine. The last option is relevant for motorists who do not travel 60 thousand km during the specified time.

But in practice, in order to prevent problems with the operation of the unit, when choosing a replacement interval you need to:

  1. Check the lubricant by touch. Over time, solid particles begin to form in the consumable material, which indicates that its service life is coming to an end. If present, the fluid is replaced.
  2. Diagnose the color and smell of consumables. After a certain mileage, the oil becomes dark, but the presence of sediment will indicate the need to replace it. In addition, the low quality of the consumable will be indicated by bad smell. If the fluid smells like burning, it must be replaced.
  3. Periodically monitor the condition of the seals, especially if synthetic fluid is poured into the car.
  4. Always change the gearbox oil after purchasing a used car.

Therefore, taking these points into account, the need for a change may arise earlier than established by the manufacturer’s regulations. Reviews from VAZ 2114 car owners show that many compatriots change the lubricant after 25-30 thousand kilometers. It is recommended to adhere to this indicator if the vehicle is used frequently and intensively.

The channel “Secrets of Perekupa” told more about what will happen if you do not change the oil in the transmission unit in a timely manner.

Types of VAZ 2114 gearboxes

Domestic VAZ 2114 models can be equipped with two types of transmission units - old and new. Therefore, before performing the replacement task, it is necessary to determine exactly what type of gearbox is installed on the car. Old-style units are not equipped with dipsticks that allow you to check the lubricant level.

The new type of transmissions have a meter. To accurately determine the type of unit, you need to open the engine compartment and look for the dipstick. The level diagnostic meter is located opposite the driver's seat. It can be seen under the pipe air filter. At the end of the probe there is a black rubberized ring.

Checking the amount of oil in the gearbox

There are two options to diagnose the lubricant level in the system. You can use a probe, if possible, or check visually if it is not available.

Checking with a dipstick

Diagnostics is performed as follows:

  1. The car is placed on a flat surface.
  2. If the check is carried out after a trip, the engine and gearbox must be allowed to cool. This will take about fifteen minutes. During this time, the lubricant will have time to drain back into the transmission housing.
  3. The hood of the car opens.
  4. The dipstick is removed from the unit. Take a clean rag and wipe the meter to remove any remaining liquid.
  5. Then it is installed back. This must be done most carefully so as not to touch the walls of the gearbox with the dipstick.
  6. The meter is removed from the hole and the consumable level is checked. It is desirable that the volume of liquid corresponds to the MAX mark. If the level is lower, additional lubricant is required.

Kirill Zbruenko spoke about checking the volume of the substance in the gearbox using the example of a VAZ 2115; on a Four-wheeler, the procedure is performed in a similar way.

Checking without a dipstick

On older cars, the procedure for diagnosing the volume of lubricant is performed as follows:

  1. To check, you will need a garage with a pit or an overpass where the vehicle is driven. If this is not possible, the front of the car is raised on a jack.
  2. The protective pan is dismantled. To do this, unscrew all the bolts securing it.
  3. Using a wrench, unscrew the cover located on the transmission.
  4. Then a screwdriver or other similar object is lowered into the gearbox hole. It is important that it is clean.
  5. Ideally, the lubricant should reach the bottom thread of the hole on the crankcase. If this is not enough, then a special syringe with a tube attached to its tip is used to add liquid. An ordinary medical device is not suitable for these purposes; it is necessary to use a technical one.

How to change the oil in a VAZ 2114 gearbox yourself?

You can change the lubricant in the domestic “four” with your own hands. To do this, it is important to prepare all the tools and prepare the car for the task.

Required Tools

Materials needed for replacement:

  1. New oil. The lubricant that needs to be poured into the transmission must be selected taking into account technical characteristics cars.
  2. Dry and clean rags. It is important that the rags are lint-free.
  3. An old container into which waste liquid is drained. The volume of the tank should be at least five liters.
  4. 17 wrench, it is recommended to prepare a socket tool. It will have a hexagonal recess, thanks to which you can unscrew the drain plug. When using a regular key, you need to be careful. If the edges are damaged during the task, a new cover will be required.
  5. Gloves.
  6. Probe for level diagnostics.
  7. A hose with an installed funnel or a technical syringe with a connected pipe.

Preparatory activities

Before you begin the task, you need to warm up the car. Then the engine stops, you need to wait about fifteen minutes, this will allow the substance to drain completely. If the vehicle is equipped with a sump guard without holes, it will have to be removed. Otherwise, it will be impossible to access the drain cover. To complete the task, you need to unscrew the bolts with a wrench and dismantle the protection.

Learn more about preparing your vehicle for replacement transmission fluid and the implementation of this process was told by user Denis Onishchenko.

The procedure for replacing the lubricant in the box of a new VAZ 2114

The change procedure is as follows:

  1. Gloves are put on and all the equipment is prepared. The first actions are performed from under the bottom of the car.
  2. There is a drain plug on the gearbox; place a container under it.
  3. The cover can be unscrewed with a wrench, but cannot be completely removed.
  4. The following actions are performed from above. The housing of the air filter device in the engine compartment must be removed. To do this, unscrew four screws and use a screwdriver to loosen the clamp on the clamp. Then the filter element is removed from the hose.
  5. The lower part of the device is detached from the vehicle. The replacement procedure can be complicated by the fact that the hood lock cable will interfere with its implementation.
  6. Then the fasteners are disconnected, and the filter element housing is placed next to it.
  7. The surface around the dipstick needs to be cleaned; you can use a brush for this. This will prevent dust and contaminants from getting inside the transmission unit after it is removed.
  8. Then, under the bottom of the car, the transmission drain plug is completely unscrewed. The cover must be removed gradually until the lubricant begins to seep through it. Then the plug is quickly removed from the installation site.
  9. To completely drain the lubricant, you need to wait about half an hour. If the engine has not been warmed up beforehand, it will take longer.
  10. After draining the waste substance, the plug is screwed in, but not all the way.
  11. From the outside engine compartment A hose with a funnel installed at the other end is inserted into the fill hole. Refills about two hundred grams new lubricant. You need to wait until the oil flows down and displaces the old substance with a fresh composition. You can find out about this when brown grease comes out of the box. Then fresh liquid will begin to flow.
  12. The drain plug is screwed in until it stops.
  13. New oil is poured into the transmission unit through a funnel. Level control is performed using a dipstick. Ideally, the lubricant will be between the minimum and maximum marks on the meter. The exact volume of liquid that can enter the box depends on how much of the substance spilled out of it. After filling, you need to wait about five minutes for the oil to distribute through all channels, then check the level again. If adding lubricant is not required, wipe the fill valve with a clean rag and reinstall it.
  14. On next stage The breather is being cleaned; this element is required to equalize the pressure level. If you do not get rid of contaminants, air can put pressure on the lubricant, which will begin to squeeze out the seals. In order for the oil to be optimally distributed throughout the internal channels of the transmission, it is necessary to start power unit and warm it up.

The procedure for replacing fluid in an old-style VAZ 2114 box

The procedure for changing the oil in old and new type gearboxes is the same.

The only difference is that the filler hole is in a different location. It is located not at the top of the engine compartment, but at the bottom, above the drain plug. Therefore, it is necessary to refill the lubricant into the transmission until it comes out of the hole. The filling procedure is carried out using a hose, one end of which is installed in the gearbox. And on the other you put a funnel or syringe.

The service life of the gearbox depends on the quality transmission oil. If its physical properties or level (quantity) do not meet the required parameters, gearbox parts begin to wear out rapidly. You can add oil to the VAZ 2107 gearbox or change it yourself. This operation does not require high qualifications and special tools. You just need to know what kind of oil can be poured into the “Seven” gearbox, when and how to change it, it needs to be changed or topped up.

How to check the oil level in a VAZ 2107 gearbox

Checking the oil level in the box is done as follows:

  • install the car on the inspection hole;
  • Use a rag and a wire brush to clean the plug and the surface of the box near the oil filler hole;
  • Unscrew the side filler plug.

The oil level should reach its lower edge. At the same time, you can check the condition of the oil.

If we talk about how much oil is in the VAZ 2107 box, you need to understand what modification of the box we are talking about. 1.35 liters of oil are poured into a four-speed gearbox, and 1.6 liters into a five-speed gearbox.

When it is necessary to change or add oil in a “seven” box

You only need to add oil when the level is below normal. This can be done with a special syringe after first unscrewing the oil filler plug.
Changing the oil in a VAZ 2107 gearbox is performed in the following cases:

  • After running 60 thousand kilometers. The manufacturer recommends changing the transmission oil at exactly this interval, but in fact it is better to do it a little more often - about once every 50 thousand kilometers.
  • When extraneous noise appears. Oil loses its properties over time, moisture and metal particles enter it, which accelerate wear of parts. Therefore, the first thing to do when a hum or grinding noise appears is to check and change the oil.
  • With a sharp change in color (blackening). If the gearbox oil is black, it needs to be changed urgently, regardless of the current mileage of the car.
  • When buying a used car. If you don’t know exactly when the previous owner last changed the transmission oil, do it immediately after purchase.

Delay in changing the oil will quickly lead to gearbox failure.

What kind of oil to pour into the box of a VAZ 2107

Regardless of the gearbox modification (five- or four-speed), only special oil can be poured into it, the properties of which correspond to the operating conditions of the machine.
The manufacturer recommends using oils of two groups:

  • GL-4 is a high additive oil designed for high-speed, low-torque manual transmissions or low-speed, high-torque manual transmissions.
  • GL-5 is an oil designed for hypoid gears, in which the gears rotate at an angle to each other. It has proven itself well in gearboxes operated in harsh conditions.

The “seven” box may use synthetic or semi-synthetic oils following viscosity classes:

  • SAE80W85 is an oil designed for operation in the temperature range from -35 to +35 С.
  • SAE75W90 is a multi-season oil that can operate in the temperature range from -40 to +35 С.
  • SAE75W85 is a multi-season oil operating in the range from -40 to +45 Co.

The last two types of oil are best suited to Russian weather conditions.

  • What is needed to change the oil in a VAZ 2107 gearbox

To work you need to prepare:

  • hex wrench;
  • rags;
  • wrench;
  • metal brush;
  • waste container;
  • syringe for filling oil;
  • new oil.

How to change gear oil in a VAZ 2107 gearbox

To change the oil in the “seven” box, you must perform the following steps:

Important: Avoid getting oil on the ground. It contains chemicals that are hazardous to the environment.

  • Wipe the drain plug with a rag.
  • Use a hex wrench to tighten the drain plug.

Attention: if there is sawdust in the “working”, the gearbox needs to be repaired!

Tip: If you don't have an oil syringe, you can use a funnel with a long flexible tube attached to it. The latter must be placed on top of the left side of the engine and inserted into the fill hole. This way you can add oil to the gearbox without using a syringe.

Now you know how to pour oil into a VAZ 2107 box and can independently check its condition. Timely replacement or adding oil will provide long service such an expensive component as a gearbox.

Changing the oil in a “Tens” gearbox (gearbox) is a simple and inexpensive procedure, the regularity of which directly determines the durability of the gearbox. Owners of VAZ 2110 cars need to have information about how much oil is in the VAZ 2110 box, how to check the level and how often to replace it.

[Hide]

When should you change?

According to the factory instructions, the service life of the oil in the VAZ 2110 gearbox is 75 thousand km. As practice shows, if a car is used in conditions of sudden temperature changes and in city traffic jams, then the frequency of oil changes should be reduced to 35-40 thousand km.

In addition to the scheduled oil change, there may be situations when the fluid should be changed immediately. A signal for an urgent oil change is the presence of metal dust or particles in the oil on the dipstick rod or noticeable thickening of the oil, not associated with its low temperature.

Which oil is better to choose?

The factory instructions allow the use of oils that meet API standards - SG, SH, SJ. Depending on these parameters, the behavior of the oil in winter, at fairly low temperatures, differs. The lower the initial viscosity parameters, the more low temperature will withstand oil. For the winter, many owners of VAZ 2110 with an injector fill in standard 75W-90 oil.

  • Valvoline Durablend 75W-90;
  • BP Energear HT 75W-90;
  • TNK Trans KP 75W-90;
  • Lukoil TM 4–12 80W-85;
  • Lada Trans KP 80W-85.

All of the above oils correspond API standard GL4. Currently, the most commonly used brands are Lukoil, ZIC, Mannol. The final choice of oil type remains with the car owner. Many reviews prefer ZIC oil G-FF 75W-85.

The manufacturer does not have any special requirements for the use of oil with GL4 or GL5 standards. The oil should not have a class lower than GL4, and the use of more expensive GL5 oil is possible and depends on the desire of the car owner. There are a number of opinions that GL5 oils contribute to more intensive wear of synchronizers.

Level control and required volume

While operating the vehicle, it is necessary to regularly check the oil level in the gearbox. According to the factory instructions, control is carried out once every 15 thousand kilometers, but in practice it is advisable to carry out this operation 2-3 times more often.

To check the level, you need to remove the dipstick located on the top of the box housing next to the thermostat housing. There are two notches on the probe rod indicating the lower and upper limit levels. In a working box, the oil level should be slightly below the maximum level. If the level is insufficient, the oil must be added. To do this, fill in liquid from the same manufacturer and with the same parameters as before. If this information is unknown, then the oil must be changed.

When changing the lubricant, you need to know how much oil is in the VAZ 2110 box. According to factory standards, there are 3.5 liters of oil in the box. The oil volume does not depend on the number of valves on the engine, since the crankcase is the same. Therefore, to replace it, you need to buy a container with the same amount of new oil.

Sometimes, when filling, a little more than 3.5 liters enters the crankcase, but the level does not exceed the maximum permissible value. There is no need to pour more than 3.6 liters of oil into the box, as this causes increased resistance to gear rotation and increases fuel consumption. Second side effect Oil overflow can lead to squeezing out the wheel drive seals. It is better to pump out excess oil through the dipstick hole using a large-volume medical syringe equipped with a long tube.

DIY oil change instructions

The oil change procedure is very simple and does not require special knowledge or tools. Any car owner can do it with his own hands. Before starting work, it is necessary to warm up the car and gearbox by driving at least 15–20 km.

Required Tools

After warming up the box, you will need to prepare tools and consumables:

  • an empty container with a capacity of at least 4 liters for draining used oil;
  • key of any type with a size of 17 mm;
  • rags;
  • a funnel with a hose with a diameter of no more than 10-12 mm;
  • canister with fresh oil.

Algorithm of actions

The procedure for changing the oil is as follows:

  1. Place the car on a horizontal pit or overpass.
  2. Remove the dipstick from the gearbox housing.
  3. If the engine and gearbox protection is installed below, it must be removed.
  4. Wipe the lower part of the crankcase with a rag and use a 17 mm wrench to unscrew the drain plug.
  5. Place the container and drain the oil. Complete draining of the oil takes at least 15 minutes.
  6. Wipe the plug and threads with a clean rag.
  7. Screw the plug in by hand and tighten it with a wrench.
  8. Install a hose with a funnel into the dipstick hole and fill fresh oil in an amount of approximately 3.3 liters.
  9. Wait a few minutes for the oil to drain into the crankcase and check the level.
  10. If necessary, add oil or pump out excess.
  11. After 200-300 km, re-check the level and make sure there are no oil leaks through the drain plug or box seals.

Oil level dipstick on the top of the crankcase Drain plug on the bottom of the crankcase

What will happen if you don't change?

Failure to promptly change the oil in the gearbox significantly reduces the life of the unit. Transmission oils contain a whole range of additives that effectively remove corrosion products on steel gearbox parts and facilitate the operation of bronze synchronizers. Over time, these additives lose their properties and wear of parts increases with old oil. In addition, the oil serves to remove heat from gearbox components; the older the lubricant, the worse it provides heat removal. Metal particles generated during operation of the box will also have a negative effect. They will get into the bearings and contact spots of the gears, increasing their wear.

Replacement cost

The cost of replacement will only include the price of oil, which ranges from 1,200 rubles (Lukoil oil) to 2,700 (Valvoline). The most expensive oil options will cost up to 4 thousand rubles.

When purchasing a VAZ 2110-2112 from the showroom, they usually issue instructions for servicing and operating the car, which contains absolutely all the data regarding the basic filling containers. This applies primarily to the volume of oil poured into both the engine and the gearbox.

But if for some reason you do not have such information at hand, you can use the information below. Here we will describe the main recommendations and data that are needed when or.

Required volume of oil in the VAZ 2110-2112 engine

So, since the old days carburetor engines from 2108, nothing has changed fundamentally, and therefore the filling volumes in the engine remained the same. Even if we take into account the 16-valve modifications of the VAZ 21124 engines, the cylinder block is essentially the same, the pan is the same size, which means the engine oil level remains the same 3.5 liters.

It is noteworthy that 8-valve engines are no different. But still, when replacing, you should pay attention to the MAX and MIN marks on the dipstick. Since first of all you need to pour a little oil into oil filter, let’s say 300 ml, then 3.2 liters remain in the filler neck.

But if you take into account the fact that it is impossible to drain all the oil when changing, then it is better to use the dipstick so that the level is between the MIN and MAX marks.

How much oil to fill in the VAZ 2110 gearbox

As for the gearbox, everything is also stable here. It is 3.5 liters for all gearboxes that have ever been installed on these cars.

But it’s worth considering here distinctive feature box designs. And many experts recommend filling the gearbox a little higher than the maximum so that the fifth gear gears are better lubricated. Roughly speaking, pour so much that the level is 5 mm above the MAX mark.

Changing the oil in a gearbox is a fairly important process in the operation and maintenance of a car. Without it, it may become unusable, which will lead to replacement. The article will tell you what a gearbox is, why it is needed, replacement technology and recommendations from manufacturers.

What is a gearbox?

A gearbox, or gearbox, is a car transmission mechanism that changes the frequency and torque on the drive wheels. Transmissions are manual, automatic and CVT.

Today, not a single vehicle can do without a gearbox. Therefore, all cars are equipped with this unit.

Why is it necessary to change the oil in the gearbox?

In any list of recommendations from the manufacturer there is an item: changing the oil in the gearbox. Why is this necessary? The main task of the transmission is to lubricate the gearbox parts. Due to the fact that it also serves as a heat sink from gears that heat up, the oil may lose its properties.

When heated, the oil foams and loses its chemical composition, and, accordingly, its main purpose - lubrication of parts. This is perhaps the main reason for periodically changing the oil in the box. Even special additives and additional cooling radiators cannot save you from this.

Types of oil that are poured into the gearbox

There are three types:

  1. mineral - for the cheapest cars;
  2. semi-synthetic - for middle-class cars;
  3. synthetic - for more expensive cars.

Basically all oils have indexes. Yes, transmission lubricants
have the following indices: 75W-85, 80W-85, 80W-90, 75W-90 and other similar ones.

Typically, car manufacturers write what oil should be poured into a manual (automatic) transmission and from which manufacturer. And the lubricant manufacturer indicates where it can be used, index, type and other detailed information.

Replacement technology in a mechanical box

In order to change the oil in mechanical box, you will need certain tools and conditions. U different cars different location of the drive, and, accordingly, the transmission. Therefore, the gearbox oil is changed at different
cars differently. Let's consider the basic principles of replacement in a mechanical box:

  • drive the vehicle to a place where it can be accessed from below. A pit, a lift, etc. are suitable for this;
  • Allow parts and oils to cool;
  • Unscrew the drain plug, which is located at the bottom of the gearbox, before placing a container where the oil will drain;
  • wait until the oil drains;
  • clean the threads from dust and dirt both on the plug and on the unit;
  • tighten the plug, not forgetting to put in a copper or rubber sealing ring;
  • unscrew the top plug where the oil is filled;
  • clean the threads and around the hole from dust and dirt;
  • fill in a new transmission;
  • tighten the plug.

How much oil do you need to fill in a manual gearbox?

On different cars, this amount can be different, from 0.6 to 2.5 liters. You should look at the technical documentation provided by the manufacturer.

Replacement technology in automatic transmission

There are 2 ways to replace an automatic transmission.

First way:

  • unscrew the drain plug and the oil will flow out on its own;
  • then remove the gearbox oil element (filter) and wash or replace it;
  • tighten the drain plug and unscrew the filler plug;
  • pour in the required amount of oil;
  • tighten the filler plug.

Method two:

  • disconnect the pipe that connects the automatic transmission and the radiator;
  • install the oil changer pipes;
  • starting the internal combustion engine and the apparatus;
  • complete drainage of our lubricant;
  • Fill the new one through the filler channel, first unscrewing the plug.

How much oil do you need to fill in an automatic transmission?

Depending on the car and the type of automatic transmission, you should fill from 1.4 to 1.9 liters of transmission fluid. It is recommended to fill lubricating fluid the one recommended by the manufacturer. In other cases, wear of the parts itself may increase.
boxes.

Oil change technology for trucks

Unlike passenger cars, on trucks and tractors, replacement occurs differently.

  1. Standardly there are two drains and two fill holes.
  2. It takes three to four hours to change the oil.
  3. The volume of lubricant absorbed by the giant ranges from 5.6 to 8 liters.
  4. All operations are carried out only in cold conditions.
  5. The gear must be in neutral.
  6. An oil change occurs every 100 thousand mileage.

Trucks travel more kilometers than cars, so their oil needs to be changed more often, and since the volume is large, the price is higher.

Replacement times for different types of cars

For different cars, there are different timings for changing transmission oil. It depends on many factors such as:

  • gearbox type;
  • number of gear stages;
  • type of car;
  • type of oil poured into the box.

When should you change the oil in your car's gearbox?

The lubricant in the vehicle's gearbox should be changed according to the manufacturer's scheduled maintenance. This data is usually written in the service book and must be strictly adhered to.

According to the standard, the oil in a manual transmission is changed every 40-50 thousand kilometers, in an automatic transmission - 60,000 km. The exception is constant intense driving - gas / brake. In this case, the oil should be changed to 2/3 of the required amount.
term.

Association of Automobile Manufacturers, automotive experts for repair and operation and representatives of repair depots (SRT) held a forum in 2015, one point of which was the replacement of lubricant in various types boxes
transmission

During the discussion, general rules were established for how long it takes to change the oil in the gearbox:

  • passenger cars with a volume of up to 2.5 liters - every 25-30 thousand km;
  • passenger cars with a volume of 2.5 to 5.0 liters - every 30-35 thousand km;
  • passenger cars with a volume of over 5.0 liters - after 40 thousand kilometers;
  • trucks up to 10 tons - every 70,000-80,000 km;
  • trucks over 10 tons – after 100,000 km.

What should not be done when performing transmission maintenance?

  • avoid getting dirt and dust into the new oil and the box itself;
  • avoid getting hit by third-party objects;
  • do not push objects through to clean the drain channel, this may damage the box and render some parts unusable, or part of the object may remain inside;
  • do not avoid safety measures;
  • adhere to the prescribed sequence of actions.

Interesting fact

Some car owners, in order not to change the oil or when the transmission jams, throw a roll of toilet paper into the gearbox before selling the car. This method helps to drive, the gearbox behaves well, shifts smoothly and easily, but this only lasts for a few days.
