Tire calculator. Tire calculator Tire size 215 65 r16

Dimension 215/65 R16 is the most common among crossover tires, and many manufacturers offer two or even three models - with varying degrees of “off-road”. In order not to get bogged down in this variety ourselves, we introduced the tire manufacturers to our test program - and shifted the burden of choice onto them. The approaches turned out to be different. The company, for example, felt it would show itself better. road tires Scorpion verde although Pirelli also has sharper tires in its arsenal Scorpion STR... Continental went roughly the same way, providing road tires for testing. CrossContact UHP... But for Michelin were "toothy" tires. Yokohama introduced new universal tires Yokohama Geolandar SUV, and Bridgestone and Dunlop declined our offer, which, of course, was not a reason to exclude tires of these popular brands from the test: we bought tires and Dunlop Grandtreck AT3.

We also had Korean tires ( Hankook DynaPro HP i), and Russian ( Viatti Bosco A / T and Cordiant All-Terrain ), and the twelfth set is the tires, which were "shod" on the conveyor Renault Duster: Continental CrossContact LX.

Tested tires list:

  • Viatti Bosco A / T

We mount all tires on light-alloy wheels, balance them ... And here are the first results! The least amount of lead was spent on balancing the tires of Hankook, Kumho, Yokohama and Amtel, and most of all were demanded by Dunlop and especially Cordiant - almost a pound of weights per set! This is an indicator of the so-called mass non-uniformity of the tires. It is clear that the fewer weights required for balancing, the better the tire is made.

We assemble an irrigation system from hoses and garden sprayers - and proceed to driving on wet asphalt. First - braking from 80 km / h. On each set - at least six times, applying maximum force to the pedal (Duster is equipped with ABS). We measure the distance traveled to the stop, average the results - and state that on the best tests in this type of test Pirelli tires the car stopped after 26.5 meters, and on Dunlop tires - almost ten meters further.

The same wet asphalt, but the task is different: to determine at what maximum speed the tester can keep the car in a marked corridor that simulates a turning arc with a radius of 35 meters. That is, if in the previous exercise the adhesion properties tires on wet asphalt in the longitudinal direction, now - the ability of tires to take transverse loads. The alignment is the same: the best are, the worst are Dunlop.

And the last "wet" exercise is an imitation of a detour around an unexpected obstacle. Its results also reflect the tire's susceptibility to lateral loads, but this time the loads change dynamically - both in direction and in absolute value. The task is to "grope" maximum speed clean execution of the maneuver. If the tires allowed our tester to dodge an obstacle at a speed of 71.8 km / h, then on Dunlop tires the car began to fall out of the marked corridors at speeds above 66.5 km / h.

Now - emergency braking and "rearrangement", but on dry asphalt. The alignment is the same, except that the outsiders, Dunlop tires, were joined during braking Russian tires Cordiant All-Terrain.

But let's not forget about the birthright. When the first pneumatic tires appeared more than 120 years ago (by the way, the invention of John Dunlop), their main advantage was considered to be comfort! And what about the comfort of pneumatics today? Alas, the most "tenacious" tires turned out to be the "hardest" ones - these are tires and tires Continental CrossContact UHP... On a bad road, it is much more pleasant to ride on tires. And they make less noise than others. The tires turned out to be quite comfortable Continental CrossContact LX, tires Cordiant All-Terrain and tires Yokohama Geolandar SUV... However, even the noisiest tires in our test Continental CrossContact UHP and tires do not cause irritation.

Now - an estimate of the rolling resistance. Acceleration to 110 km / h, transition to "neutral" - and wait until the car stops. The longer the stick out, the lower the rolling resistance and, accordingly, the less energy is required to overcome it, and as a result - the gain in fuel efficiency. In this exercise, Kumho and Bridgestone performed better than others, and worse - Cordiant All-Terrain... In practice, this can mean a difference in fuel consumption in the range of five to six percent.

And finally, cross-country ability. We went to the same dirt track of the polygon, on which the Renault Duster had already been driven during our accelerated resource test. Remember the joke that the better the cross-country ability, the further you run after the tractor? The "tractor" was a UAZ, and the most "passable" tires were Yokohama Geolandar SUV... On them, Duster confidently drives out of a deep rut, dashingly climbs slippery slopes. Great tires for autumn muddy roads! They work well off-road and Dunlop tires... But the Pirelli here sit in a puddle - the "smooth" tread works great on asphalt, but helpless in the mud.

Moving on to the results. We assumed that the “weighted average” owner of a car like the Renault Duster would have a maximum of 20% of mileage on off-road driving, hence the share of “off-road” ratings in the overall standings. The remaining 80% is asphalt, with more attention being paid to safety on wet asphalt. With these priorities, tires and tires become the test winners. Continental CrossContact LX... Moreover, while we recommend the former to those who rarely drive off the asphalt, the latter are more versatile. And the best tire for those who often have to knead the mud is the Yokohama Geolandar SUV. By the way, Viatti Bosco A / T tires from Nizhnekamsk were pleasantly surprised. Considering their price - a great option!

And further. Most of the tires tested are marked "M + S" ( Mud + Snow, « mud + snow"), Which implies their year-round operation. But we deliberately did not include tests on winter surfaces in the test program, because we are sure that in most regions of Russia it is better to drive on real winter tires in winter.

No wonder these tires were chosen for OE Renault cars Duster! Good grip on dry and wet asphalt goes hand in hand with acoustic comfort and a smooth ride. And these tires perform well in mud. Duster confidently performs the moose test maneuver both on dry and wet asphalt, reaching even higher speeds than on the "premium" Continental tires CrossContact UHP.

This is the kind of universal tire that most owners of similar cars need.

The best tires in terms of safety! However, comfort comes at the price of outstanding grip. On a rough surface, the hum from the tires drowns out all other noises. And the rolling resistance is too big - they do not justify their beautiful name Verde, which means "green" in Italian. However, the owner of Duster should be alerted by something else: on these tires, he is unlikely to be able to realize the impressive off-road potential of his car.

Protector new Yokohama tire resembles a disc cutter - in theory, the serrated walls of the longitudinal grooves should work well off-road. And they work! Duster confidently walks along a muddy country lane and easily gets out of a deep rut. Even without connecting the rear wheel drive!

It is gratifying that the tires also provide a comfortable ride on asphalt - they please with soft and almost silent rolling.

But when performing extreme maneuvers, they do not cause joy. On the "rearrangement" Duster, although it develops a good speed, but goes into a skid, which has to be corrected with steering interceptions. And when entering a turn on a wet surface, you need to be on the lookout - slips begin noticeably earlier than on Pirelli or Continental tires.

A good option for those who are not averse to moving off the asphalt.

Viatti tires are manufactured in Russia using off-take technology. The tread structure and design were developed by an engineering firm organized by the former vice president of Continental AG, Wolfgang Holzbach.

Match with Pirelli and Continental tires. But on dry and off-road these tires are in the middle.

In general, a good balance of consumer qualities, and if we compare them with the price, then these are almost the best tires in our test.

These tires were designed with the powerful in mind, high-speed cars... This is evidenced by the line of dimensions, in which there are even 23-inch tires that allow you to accelerate to 270 km / h! But even at "earth" speeds, these tires demonstrate excellent grip on wet and dry asphalt. But the slip breaks occur too abruptly.

And the most noticeable drawback is increased rigidity and noise: it is unpleasant to drive on a bad road, and sometimes it is impossible to drive off-road. Especially "vnatyag" - the wheels now and then break into a useless slip.

Good tires for good roads.

The model is far from new, but it still stands up to competition. Braking distances on wet surfaces are only slightly longer than on Pirelli or Continental tires. When performing maneuvers "turning" and "rearranging" the maximum speeds are higher than average, but there is a feeling of excessive weight - it is difficult to "fill" the car into a turn or shift to an adjacent lane.

There are no particular complaints about comfort, but there is a problem with cross-country ability: even in all-wheel drive mode, the Duster flounders helplessly in a rut, unable to get out of it.

But these tires have the lowest rolling resistance.

After Amtel-Vredestein went bankrupt in 2009, Russian tire factories in Kirov and Voronezh, old models of Amtel tires were produced by inertia. At the end of 2011, they had a new owner - Italian Pirelli company, and the new Amtel Cruise 4X4 asymmetric tread tires have been created under her supervision.

Decent behavior on both wet and dry asphalt. In the maximum corner and on the "rearrangement" on wet surfaces, the Duster gently goes into a controlled skid, and yet the speed of maneuvering is low.

Decent tires economy class, which are now equipped with all Dasters produced in Russia.

Hankook tires look more and more worthy in Autoreview tests and even won prizes, but it seems that Hi-tech bypassed the DynaPro HP model. Tires start to slip early on wet asphalt, and these slides are stretched and in real life can cause panic.

Braking on dry asphalt is good, but with a detour of an obstacle again problems - the maneuver is hampered by sluggish reactions to steering turns and prolonged slides.

Just tires, round and black.

Aggressive tread pattern proved to be a poor helper on wet pavement. When performing the "rearrangement" maneuver - extended slides. On dry pavement, it is already better - the slides start smoothly, and it is easier to control them. But longitudinal grip is not enough - on dry asphalt the braking distance is six meters longer than on Pirelli tires.

Despite the wide grooves in the center of the tread and the developed lugs in the shoulder area, these tires perform worse in mud than the Yokohama. The title of "off-road king" has been lost. But in comfort Michelin tires there is no equal.

Even before the start of road tests, these tires set a record - it took more than half a kilogram of lead weights to balance a set of four wheels. A clear sign is far from best quality manufacturing. We can only hope that these are the flaws of the pre-series production - after all, we received the tires for testing even before their official premiere.

On wet pavement, the tires demonstrate average results, but on dry pavement they lose to most competitors. At emergency braking- and the worst tires in the test.

But on a country road they are good, they allow you to confidently move both "vnatyag" and with a slip. Pleased with these tires and comfort.

Why did we test the old Dueler H / T 689 and not the new Dueler A / T 697? Because the novelty did not have "our" dimension! But the model with the index 689 is still very popular. Most likely, buyers are attracted by the inscription "Made in Japan". In vain it attracts!

Low adhesion properties, both on wet and dry asphalt. The steering wheel jerked a little more sharply - and the front wheels go into a prolonged slide.

On the off-road, these tires tend to slip early, and do a poor job of getting out of the rut.

It remains to rejoice at the good smoothness and low resistance rolling.

The braking distance on wet asphalt is ten meters longer than on Pirelli tires! The picture is slightly better on dry asphalt.

These tires are good only off-road - they are confidently on the verge of slipping, and if you overdo it with traction, then the slipping wheels will work well.

But on hard roads common use especially with heavy traffic, it is better not to ride on these tires.

If you have any questions about arranging and granting a loan, please contact our partner - the HappyLend group of companies: You may need such a calculator if you want to install instead of standard tires or their analogues, but already of a different standard size. With its help, you can visually represent dimensional changes and only then interpret them for a specific car. At the same time, the calculator is not a tool for selecting tires and wheels, since it does not contain a database of manufacturers.

When replacing disks and tires, taking into account the geometric data obtained from tire calculator, it will not be superfluous to make several measurements yourself. First, the distance from the suspension to the wheel surface with inside as well as from the shock absorber cup to the tread surface. Secondly, from the wing, as well as the steering rods to the tread surface. In this case, the geometric parameters of the new wheel assembly should not greatly exceed the size standard tires and disks. Otherwise, unstable behavior of the vehicle may occur.

A few basic rules to remember when changing tires and wheels.

  1. Tread summer tires has a standard depth of 0.8-1 cm;
  2. When installing discs with a larger diameter than the standard ones, it is necessary to reduce the overhang value - for every inch of the height of 3 mm overhang;
  3. It is not uncommon for the hub bores on discs that are not original to have a larger diameter. Therefore, when installing them, you need to use special rings for fixing;
  4. In the event that the hole on the disc is smaller than the hub mounts, it is strictly forbidden to drill them out, as well as grind the hub itself;
  5. Correct selection non-original disks using a calculator will allow you to save the driving characteristics of the car;
  6. If you are not sure about the compatibility of tires or wheels with your car, it is better not to install, or contact specialists for help.
