Replacing the timing belt VAZ 2110 - 16 valves

VAZ 2110 checking and replacing the timing belt


To assess the condition of the VAZ 2110 timing belt, pry the front cover of the timing belt with a screwdriver and remove it


With a 10 head, unscrew the six bolts securing the front belt cover and remove it, then remove the right wheel and the plastic shield of the engine compartment


With a 17 head turn the crankshaft clockwise for the generator drive pulley mounting bolt until the marks on the camshaft pulleys are aligned with the marks on the rear cover of the VAZ 2110 timing belt. Insert a screwdriver through the hole in the clutch housing between the flywheel teeth in order to fix it, unscrew the bolt securing the alternator drive pulley


We remove the generator drive pulley and with a 17 wrench loosen the nut of the VAZ 2110 belt tension roller


Turning the roller, loosen the belt tension and remove its rear branch from the exhaust camshaft toothed pulley, tension roller and coolant pump pulley, then remove the belt from the crankshaft and exhaust camshaft toothed pulleys and support roller. Installation of the VAZ 2110 timing belt is performed in the reverse order of its removal. We are convinced of the alignment of the crankshaft and camshaft alignment marks. We put the toothed belt on the crankshaft pulley. Turning the tension roller, tighten the belt and fix the roller. Turning the crankshaft in the direction of rotation two turns, check the alignment of the timing marks. We check the tension of the toothed belt in the middle part of the branch between the camshaft pulleys. The belt deflection should be 5.4 ± 0.2 mm under a load of 100 N (10 kgf). This completes the replacement of the VAZ 2110 timing belt.
