The window lifter serves to lower and lifting the glass in the car door. Initially, the mechanical devices nusted in the people of "oars" and "meat grinders" were used for this purpose. To date, they are displaced by electrical windows with an electric drive, and manual are used, as a rule, on the cheapest cars in minimal equipment.

Electrically driven windows
Electrical windows are installed inside the doors or in special subframes, or are attached directly to the case. In general terms, the windows device is as follows. They consist of the following main parts:
- drive;
- lifting mechanism;
- control unit.
The drive combines the electric motor, worm and gear transmission. All components are combined into a common block. The drive task is to transmit a lifting mechanism for lifting or lowering the glass. Thanks to the worm gear, the possibility of unauthorized lowering window glass is eliminated. The rotation in the worm mechanism can only be transmitted from the worm to the wheel if an effort is in the opposite direction, the mechanism is blocked.

The lifting mechanism is the executive device, its task is to raise and lower the glass. Constructive lifts differ among themselves, there are the following types:

Cable
The main advantage, which is advantageous distinguishing the cable windows - high maintainability. Spare parts can be found almost in any store, and the repair can be performed with your own hands. This advantage levels the shortcomings of the mechanism, namely the wear of the cable, its pulling, low strength of plastic guide heads and exposure to the electric motor overheating. 
Rack
Rush windows are characterized by greater durability. The principle of their work is that the rotational motion transmitted from the electric motor gears turns into a linear movement of the registers. Such windows, in addition to reliability, have a higher speed than the cable, and noise makes less. 
However, the rack windows are not devoid of flaws. The main thing is that gears need lubrication, otherwise they are quickly erased, and stop working normally. The second deficiency is inherent in those devices whose manufacturers saved on metal, and made gears plastic. This material is strongly inferior in the strength of aluminum, which is very significantly affected by the service life. Finally, the rack windows require more free space inside the car door.
Lever
The lever mechanism combines high reliability and small sizes. The electric motor in such a mechanism rotates the gear that transmits the rotation to one or two levers. The levers move the plate that holds the glass. The principle of operation generates the main disadvantage of such a device, which consists in the uneven speed of the glass: the higher it is, the lower the speed. 
Glass itself, regardless of which types of windows are used on vehicles, moves along the guides. As part of the doors, this role is performed by a gutter, and inside - special rails.
What is pulse windows?
There are two types of power windows: pulsed and non-diphelistic. Pulse windows can operate both in a pulse and normal mode. The usual mode implies that the power windows operates only when the control key is pressed. In pulsed mode, one short press is enough to completely lower or raise the glass.
As a rule, pulse windows are equipped with five-position control keys, which from the neutral position have two positions up and two down. When you move the key to the first position, the window lifter works in normal mode, and the glass drops or rises exactly as the driver wants. In the second position, the control pulse is applied to the full opening or closing window.
The second name, which was obtained automatic windows in the people, sequential. This term is applied incorrectly, since "sequential" means "consistent" (from English sequence). Everyone knows, in which switching occurs consistently. What should be a sequential windows, remains a mystery. Most likely, someone just liked the word.
Installation of electrical windows do it yourself

Stores sell windows for specific cars, for example, VAZ-2110 or VAZ-2114, or universal, which can be installed in almost any machine (for example, VAZ-2107). The difference between them is that in order to establish a specialized mechanism, it is necessary to completely dismantle the old mechanical, and the universal is combined with the available.
Since for VAZ-2107 there are no special windows, the only way to automate the process of opening and closing windows is to put universal power windows. For this, the "oars" knobs are dismantled, an electric motor is installed inside each door, which is activated by the native mechanical window lift through the gear.
