Why does the stove on the VAZ-2105 heat up badly and what to do

Today we will try to figure out why the stove on the VAZ-2105 does not heat well in winter.

Causes

If the car heats up for a long time or cold air is blowing directly into the cabin, then there can be many reasons - from banal inattention to really serious problems. For this:

  • check the thermostat. The reason may be precisely in it, if the hoses are hot, most likely, it is stuck open;
  • the air intake may be closed: check and open manually if necessary;
  • gasket: if it is punctured, gases from the combustion chamber can flow in the direction of the cooling system. To understand whether this is really the reason, you need to look into the expansion tank in a warm car: if there are bubbles, the gasket is broken. These bubbles are most likely to get stuck in the pump and stove;
  • check the pipes from the stove. If they are cold, and you have a whole gasket, then you can simply remove the air from the stove. Also, a poor pump flow is not excluded;
  • it may also be that at the heater tap drive the cable cannot open it because the cable sheath jumps off and does not push the tap handle. In this case, you can correct it manually;
  • Another reason that the stove does not work well may be a violation of the polarity of the brushes of the heater engine: if you have reverse polarity of the air, then it will move from the passenger compartment into the engine compartment. It doesn't have to be that way.

What to do

The most important reason the car takes a long time to warm up or not at all is the thermostat.

Now we will tell you how to remove it and replace it with a new one.

The thermostat is the most common valve responsible for circulating fluid, which, moving through the system, cools it.

It begins its work at a temperature of 80 degrees in a small circle and falls at temperatures below the minimum.

Principle of operation

The coolant moves through the system (small circle) and heats up the engine to the desired temperature, after which the valve opens. Consequently, the liquid flows into a large circle by connecting the radiator. If at a temperature of 80 degrees the lower hose is cold, then this indicates a breakdown.

Withdrawal process

  1. Drain the coolant.
  2. Loosen the tightening of the clamps and disconnect the pipe that goes from the radiator and inlet.
  3. Loosen the clamps themselves.
  4. Remove the pipes by disconnecting them from the water pump.
  5. We take out the thermostat. Disconnect the remaining pipes.

When installing the thermostat, you need to take into account that this operation is serious and must be carried out carefully:

  1. Clean all surfaces well and replace the O-ring.
  2. Correctly orient and place the thermostat in the housing.
  3. Then tighten all existing cover bolts. To do this, you need to try.
  4. Reinstall all hoses, then refill with coolant.
  5. You should also start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature to make sure it has no leaks.

What else can be done to keep the stove working

You can also seal the walls of the air outlet hoses yourself and redistribute the air flows. All owners of the VAZ-2105 faced this in order to improve the heating system.

Replacing the heater tap for better stove operation

It is best to use ceramic rather than metal taps. So let's get started:

  • you need some kind of container;
  • find the plug on the block and unscrew it to drain the coolant;
  • a container with liquid will still come in handy, but for now, move it away;
  • we find the pipes, after which we unscrew the clamps;
  • using a metal brush, we clean the threaded joints of the two studs (you can moisten them with brake fluid to unscrew better);
  • while the whole thing turns off, we remove the pipes and go to the salon, where we remove the side panel of the torpedo;
  • unscrew the pipe clamps;
  • removing the pipes, we replace them;
  • it is necessary to find the nuts under the car that fix the heater tap. Unscrew;
  • returning to the salon, remove the tap and the spring clip;
  • then you need to disconnect the control cable from the crane;
  • we put a new heater valve, but first connect the cable, attach the valve to the body.

Replacing the heating fan

If your car is cold, it could be a fan. Now we will tell you how to replace it:

  1. Remove the bottom of the fuser, then the old fan.
  2. Cut off one of the aerodynamic ridges that supplied air under your feet.
  3. Increase the diameter of the hole in the impeller. Insert a new shaft into it.
  4. You need to check the operation of the fan, adjust the resistor and assemble everything in the reverse order.
