The ventilation system of the internal space of the Lada 2115 is capable of organizing the circulation of air flows under the influence of the natural air pressure produced when driving at a decent speed. A fan heater can artificially inject air into the passenger compartment, the rotation speed of which is stepwise controlled by the control unit.
When the heater fan needs to be replaced
This unit should be "sentenced" to replacement on a VAZ 2114 car not only in the event of its complete inactivity, which is a consequence of:
- short circuit of the armature winding to ground or its breakage;
- collector wear;
- hanging of brushes.
An electric motor is also subject to inspection and it is quite likely that further disposal is required, the armature of which rotates rather slowly at any speed due to:
- oxidation / contamination of the collector;
- turn-to-turn closure of the armature winding;
- wear of bearings and seats for rolling bearings.
For your information. In the event of a short circuit in the armature winding of the electric motor, fuse F7 immediately blows, which is simultaneously responsible for the cigarette lighter, glove compartment lighting and rear window heating.
Workshop replacement of the stove fan on cars of the VAZ 2114 family: we create conditions for the operation
The design of the heating system, located behind the dashboard, is well implemented. The developers took into account the convenience of repairing the cooler: the electric motor is located in the engine compartment and is easily accessible.
The connections between the electric motor and the on-board control system are based in the passenger compartment behind the dashboard. The unit is turned off according to the following scheme:
- remove the right cover of the center console by unscrewing three screws;
- disconnect the one-pin power supply block of the electric motor;
- unscrew the "mass" of the unit, using the head 10 and remove the terminal from the stud.
Before replacing the stove fan in the engine compartment of the VAZ 2114, preparatory operations are carried out in the engine compartment. Experienced owners strongly recommend dismantling the two deflectors near the wipers for convenience. They are fastened with self-tapping screws in five places. Further actions are subject to the following scheme:
- remove the cabin filter;
- unscrew the four self-tapping screws securing the electric motor cover in the engine compartment;
- remove the cover from the engine compartment.
Dismantling and replacing the electric motor
The electric motor is fastened to the housing of the heating unit with two screws. Having disassembled the connections with a Phillips screwdriver, it is necessary to disconnect the motor and heater and pull out the previously disconnected wires through the seal. You can remove the electric fan from the engine compartment as follows:
- slightly raise the unit;
- remove the front support surface from engagement with the heater body by sliding the engine towards you;
- turn the motor 90 degrees;
- pull the structure out of the compartment.
- turn the apparatus around the axis of rotation so that the outlet window "looks" at the performer;
- remove the foam rubber seal;
- separate the halves of the unit body by prying them with a flat screwdriver at the junction;
- bring out the left half by sliding it to the left edge;
- bring out the right half, first moving it to the left.
A full replacement of only the stove fan with is possible after disassembling the right half of the unit casing:
- unfasten the two spring latches that fix the cover relative to the casing;
- remove the motor cover;
- remove the electric motor and impeller assembly.
Notes:
- when replacing the assembled device, it is not worth disassembling the old product;
- before disassembling the electric motor, it is recommended to evaluate its performance by connecting the device to the battery;
- it is forbidden to remove the impeller from the shaft, especially a new electric motor, in order to avoid imbalance;
- all work should be carried out with the battery disconnected.
Before installing a new unit, the heating system inlet must be cleaned. The installation of a new product is carried out in the reverse order. Having placed the structure near the seat, a new foam rubber seal should be glued along the contour in contact with the heating system. Upon completion of work in the engine compartment, it is necessary to connect the unit to the on-board controller and preferably replace the cabin filter.

Disposal of the old electric motor of the heater most often occurs due to the wear of the collector (after 100,000 km of run) or the short circuit of the armature winding, which will be indicated by a "silent" or hardly rotating shaft, as well as a blown fuse F7.
The method for replacing a faulty fan of a VAZ 2114 stove is simplified as follows:
- disconnect the device from the onboard power supply;
- dismantle the deflectors and the cabin filter;
- remove the protective cover;
- remove the electric motor assembled with a housing or in parts;
- remove the motor assembly with the impeller from the casing;
- install the new unit and reassemble in reverse order.
