When toning a VAZ 2107, special problems usually do not arise, however, there are several nuances that we will talk about.
If we take into account the fact that 20% of the population of Russia owns domestic VAZ cars and modernize them with their own hands, then a small description of the work on tuning these cars would be appropriate. One of the simplest and most common types of tuning is glass tinting. This time VAZ 2107 was chosen to describe the tinting process.
VAZ "seven" is the car that simply cannot be imagined without tinting. The first thing that the newly-made owners of this model did was pasted over all the glass, except for the front one (and sometimes it), with a dark film. Some even put a strip of tinting on top of the windshield in order to feel like in a tank.
Thus, the "seven" without tinting could be seen only in the factory floor or in a car dealership. She wanted to be tinted at once: it seemed that she was missing the most delicate detail of her clothing. In this toned form, the seventh model was remembered and loved by many.
But the "happiness" did not last long. Legislation has become tougher in relation to tinting. Many had to remove the resin film and stick the approved one, which already allowed them to view the interior in light. However, the translucent permitted tinting practically did not spoil the image of the VAZ 2107 that had developed over the years.
What is needed for tinting VAZ 2107 glasses?
Of course, to perform glass tinting, you can go to the service center, where they will professionally carry out all the necessary procedures. However, the process of tinting VAZ 2107 glasses is simple and you can do it yourself. Do-it-yourself tinting of the VAZ 2107 assumes that you have the following components:
- tint film (3 m worth about 450 rubles);
- shampoo or any available detergent;
- glass scraper, in d.sl. designed to displace water (100 rubles);
- stationery knife (about 100 rubles);
- roulette;
- container with a spray.
If you consider that the last three points can be found on your farm, then the entire glass tuning process will require about 600 rubles. This is, in fact, the film itself and the scraper for pushing out the water. If you don't have a scraper, you can use a regular plastic card wrapped with a piece of flannel cloth.
And it's also a good idea to use not simple, but distilled water to prepare a solution. Such water does not contain salts, which means that the appearance of streaks on the glass can be completely excluded. Distilled water can be purchased at a car dealership. It is sold in plastic bottles and is very inexpensive.
From technical means, a construction or household hair dryer can come in handy. Household, perhaps. even better, because it does not heat so much, and it will not work to burn through the film by negligence. But it doesn't matter if there is no hair dryer. The rear window of the VAZ 2107 is not very convex, so the minimum amount of wrinkles appearing on the film can be smoothed out with an eraser.
The process of darkening glasses VAZ 2107
Do-it-yourself tinting of a VAZ 2107 begins with the removal of all glasses (except for the rear). The rear window is fixed at the factory using a special technology, so it is not easy to pull it out of there, and there is no need to. This glass has some bulge and the film must be shaped before gluing using the glass as a template.
We wash the rear window thoroughly and then spray it with soapy water. Then we apply the film to the glass from the outside without removing the protective base. Then we begin to intensively smooth the film on the glass and at the same time we do not influence it with a hairdryer. Smooth it out until all the water is squeezed out from under the film.

The film, which is formed over the rear window, is applied with a protective layer upwards. This is necessary so that when gluing the glass from the inside, the shape of the tinting coincides with the shape of the glass. If you form a film by applying it from the inside of the cabin, then it is applied, respectively, with a protective layer downward.
After the film is glued to the rear window and all the air is removed from under it, you must immediately try to bring its edges under the elastic band located around the perimeter. Then, when the film is dry, the excess film is carefully cut off with a blade, penetrating it under the seal. In this case, you must try not to cut off the rubber itself.
To do the work on darkening all other glasses, it is advisable to choose a room where there is little dust, for example, a bathroom. Cut out the window film with an allowance of a few centimeters. Cut out the marked patterns with a blade. It's best to start practicing with small details.
The side windows are best removed and handled separately. Tinting on the removed glass guarantees the absence of film scuffing and its poor-quality adhesion. In addition, the process of pasting itself is much more convenient and simpler.
With the side windows removed, you can very quickly cut out the necessary pieces of film. To do this, put the film on the table, cover it with glass and cut it along the contour. In this case, you do not need to make a reserve, because the sewing accuracy is almost 100%. The minimum indents can then be made using a blade and a metal ruler.
Now how to glue the film. Remove the transparent layer and moisten the glass with soapy water from a spray bottle. We apply the film, align it along the contours of the glass. If the film is cut out without a margin, then you need to more carefully align it before pushing out the air.
Then we take the tool and expel all the air from under the film, moving from the center to the outskirts. After that, leave the tinted glass to dry for at least 8 hours. After this time, you should cut off the excess film (we use a clerical knife with a new blade).
On a note
It is very important that the film does not run over the sanded edges of the glass. They are rough and she does not stick to them. It is best to leave a margin of 1–2 mm from the edge. To make the indentation even, you can cut it to fit a ruler, while breaking off the next section of the knife blade after cutting each window.
