How to install power windows on a VAZ 2109 with your own hands
The process of installing power windows on the "nine" can be roughly divided into 3 significant stages:
- dismantling of mechanical windows;
- installation of power windows;
- laying and connecting electrical wiring.

- Disconnect the "minus" on the battery or use the button for disconnecting the "mass".
- Next, carefully remove the door trim. It is fastened with plastic caps, so there should be no problems: we hook the edge near the cap and pull. As a last resort, then replace the broken fasteners with new ones (they cost a penny).
- Before removing the window-lifting mechanism, set the glass in a position in which there will be free access to the fastening bolts through the technical opening of the door, and fix it with ordinary tape.
- Unscrew the screws that secure the glass.
- At the bottom of the door, unscrew the rail nut.
- Unscrew 3 more nuts near the power window handle. After that, you can remove the mechanism from the door cavity through the largest opening (pull it up).

In the overwhelming majority of cases, there is no need to drill anything further in the doors. For attaching the electric window regulator, the standard landing sites for the manual mechanism are quite suitable.
Install new equipment as follows:
- The window unit is placed through the largest door opening. In this case, the entire structure must be assembled.
- For fastening on the body of the unit there is a pair of studs, which ideally fit into the holes freed from the fastening bolts. These holes are located in the center of the door. Align the studs with the holes and screw on and tighten the nuts.
- Now you need to align the window mount with the glass itself. Since the mechanism is in the "fully open" position, you need to activate it and raise the seat close to the glass. The ideal option would be to temporarily connect the equipment directly to the battery.
- Having brought the lift element to the metal strip of the door glass and thereby aligning the mounting holes, fix all with two bolts that come with the power window.
- Do not forget to grease well all the friction points of the window regulator parts.
The electrical wiring is connected as follows:
- Measure the length of the future wires that will be laid from the contacts of the power window motor to the installation locations of the buttons on the front panel. Plugs for activating buttons (2 - one per door) in the case of cars with a "high panel" are located to the right of the "cigarette lighter".
- To pull the wiring into the rack, and then - under the panel, you will need to use a broach. For such purposes, ordinary steel wire with a loop at the end will come down - to grip and pull the wiring through the channels.
- When buying wires, make sure that the cross section is at least 1 mm. sq.
- The simplest and most convenient option for supplying the circuit is to connect the power windows to the "cigarette lighter". However, some motorists recommend that they prefer powering directly from the battery. There is also a standard wiring diagram provided by the factory.
After completing the work, you can reinstall the door trim, close the holes formed with decorative plugs, which usually come with power windows, and connect to test the new equipment.
