Rating of the most economical cars. Eco-dozen: the most economical cars with automatic transmission What is the most economical car in terms of fuel consumption

In times of crisis, it is advisable to save for everyone and on everything. This can also apply to cars. It has long become clear to car owners and manufacturers that they can and should save money, first of all, on fuel. If you improve the aerodynamic characteristics of the car, inflate the tires to the required pressure, you can avoid wasting precious grams and even liters of fuel. But to really save money, you need to purchase a unit that is profitable in this regard. So what is the most fuel efficient car?

It is worth noting that various hybrids are now being developed - electric models that do not require large expenses. And such cars are in demand, but not yet in our country. The cost of the car itself is quite high, and is not always affordable for the average Russian consumer. In Europe they have long understood that in terms of fuel consumption they are diesel. For example, miniature hatchbacks with a small diesel engine, such as the Opel Corsa, are sold there in huge quantities. But in Russia they prefer other cars. Of all the characteristics, residents of our country first of all pay attention to the design of the car and its efficiency. And preference is given not to compact, subcompact hatchbacks, but to sedans.

So which foreign cars are the most popular in Russia? Among them there are no electric, hybrid or diesel cars. You can create a kind of rating in which you will be presented. Let’s make a reservation that this list will include cars that are popular specifically in Russia.

10th place. Chevrolet Cobalt

This is a good sedan and has a very attractive appearance. The developers launched this model range instead of the outdated Lacetti, which was discontinued in December 2012. The technical characteristics of the car are typical for a small one, although the manufacturer classifies it as a B-class (small class, sedan). Available with both manual and automatic transmissions. The suspension seems to have been made specifically for Russian conditions. It is soft enough and does not require an ideal road.

  • The price of the basic version is about 440 thousand rubles.
  • For a small additional investment you can get a more comfortable package (another +50 thousand).
  • Engine power - 106 hp. With.
  • Fuel consumption for cars with manual transmission in the combined cycle is 6.5 liters per 100 km, for urban mode - 8.4 l/100 km and 5.3 l/100 km when driving on the highway.
  • The trunk is very roomy - 545 liters. This is one of the largest trunks in this class.
  • Maintenance at 15,000 km will cost RUB 7,000, and zero maintenance with an oil change is recommended, which is about another RUB 4,000.
  • A powerful engine of 106 “horses” makes the transport tax quite high for this car - 2650.
  • MTPL insurance will cost about 4,800 rubles.

9th place. Chevrolet Aveo

  • 507 thousand rubles is the starting price of the car.
  • There is a rich basic package: it includes everything except heated front seats and electronically controlled mirrors.
  • Relatively low gasoline consumption - 6.6 liters per 100 km.
  • The MTPL policy will cost 4,800 rubles, the same as for Cobalt.
  • Maintenance will be a little more expensive. For 15,000 km - 10 thousand rubles. Zero maintenance is also necessary.
  • Transport tax is also slightly higher - 2850 rubles.

Chevrolet Aveo is a very modern, stylish, and to some extent daring car. The dashboard is similar to a “motorcycle”, which makes it partly a youth car. The Aveo has a very decent trunk of 501 liters. Among the shortcomings, it is worth noting the disgusting sound insulation of the interior.

8th place. Citroen C-Elysee

  • 456 thousand rubles - the price of the basic configuration.
  • A car with air conditioning and an audio system will cost 490 thousand.
  • Fuel consumption is 5.5 liters per 100 km.
  • Power is only 72 hp. With.
  • TO-1 needs to be covered for 15,000 km, it will cost about 7,000 rubles.
  • Transport tax - less than 900 rubles.
  • OSAGO - 3700 rubles.

This is one of the cutest foreign cars in the budget range. Stylish design is an important factor when choosing a new car. You will have to pay extra for air conditioning and audio system. The stated gas consumption is very low. The most fuel-efficient car also has very modest power. However, this will help avoid additional costs for transport tax and insurance.

7th place. Peugeot 301

  • Basic equipment - from 456 thousand rubles.
  • With additional options - 523 thousand rubles.
  • Power 72 l. With.
  • Average gasoline consumption is 5.6 liters per 100 km.
  • Transport tax - about 900 rubles.
  • OSAGO - 3700 rub.

In many respects, the Peugeot 301 is similar to the Citroen C-Elysee. This includes the starting price, engine power, and gas mileage. A solid French car is distinguished by the elegance and grace inherent in the “French”. Although the basic version has rather modest equipment, and for greater comfort you will have to purchase additional options, this car is still very attractive in its class. Good Spanish assembly and excellent interior sound insulation make it a reliable friend on the road.

6th place. Hyundai Solaris

  • 460 thousand are asked in showrooms for the basic equipment.
  • For a good additional set of options - another 35 thousand.
  • Gasoline consumption is 6 liters per 100 km.
  • OSAGO - 4800 rubles.
  • Maintenance - about 5,000 rubles.

In size and spaciousness, this car is slightly inferior to its competitors, but boasts more advanced equipment for less money. The Korean design is excellent. Economical gasoline cars, such as the Hyundai Solaris, save on fuel, car maintenance, and maintenance.

5th place. Kia Rio

  • The starting price of the “Korean” is from 500 thousand.
  • A car with optimal configuration - 520 thousand rubles.
  • Engine power - 107 hp. With.
  • Fuel consumption is 6 liters per 100 km.
  • Transport tax - 2700 rubles.
  • OSAGO - 4800 rubles
  • Maintenance - every 15,000 km, 6,500 rubles.

KIA in its basic configuration is more expensive than its French competitors, but for an additional 20 thousand the car owner will receive everything he needs: air conditioning, an audio system, heated seats and a windshield, as well as a leather steering wheel. This stylish, sporty, modern car has firmly established itself in the budget segment. Rio and Solaris have almost the same body, but look completely different. Solaris is strict and restrained, while Ria is bright and sporty. Fuel efficient cars are very popular in Russia. Solaris was named the most purchased foreign car in Russia, largely due to low fuel consumption and the relatively low cost of the car.

4th place. Nissan Almera

  • Price - from 430 thousand.
  • More comfortable equipment - 530 thousand.
  • Maintenance at 15 thousand km will cost 6,000 rubles.
  • Engine power - 102 liters. With.
  • Transport tax - about 2.5 thousand rubles.
  • OSAGO - 4800 rub.

This is another popular one among Russian consumers. It is assembled at AvtoVAZ, on the famous Logan platform. The most economical cars in terms of fuel consumption with an automatic transmission will cost more than those with a manual transmission. Likewise, the reliable Nissan Almera is presented in more expensive trim levels. Car maintenance is inexpensive, it has enough power, and the design is also top-notch. But when equipped well, it turns out to be more expensive than its competitors - budget “French” and “Korean” models.

3rd place. Volkswagen Polo Sedan

  • Price - from 470 thousand.
  • The price for additional comfort is 510 thousand rubles.
  • Power - 105 l. With.
  • Gasoline consumption is 6.5 liters per 100 km.
  • The transport tax will be 2700 rubles.
  • OSAGO policy - 4800 rub.

A nice argument in favor of this car is its origin. This is a strict and reliable German sedan with good, high-quality assembly. Some may find its design boring, but the demand for it is quite high. The car is very unpretentious in maintenance. Tax and insurance are slightly above average due to the power of 105 horsepower.

2nd place. Chery Bonus

  • The price of the basic configuration is from 330 thousand.
  • Equipment with more comfortable options - 350 thousand.
  • Maintenance will cost 5,000 rubles after every 10,000 km.
  • Engine power - 80 l. With.
  • Transport tax - 2700 rub.
  • OSAGO policy - 4800 rub.
  • Fuel consumption is 6.5 liters per 100 km.

Chery Bonus is a Chinese sedan, quite compact in size, with a medium engine, only 80 “horses”. However, car owners vote for him with rubles. For the city, this is the most fuel-efficient car. In addition, the 350 thousand package already includes air conditioning, an audio system, airbags, heated front seats, all electric windows and some other nice little things. Many people view the Chinese auto industry with distrust, but most still believe that it is definitely ahead of AvtoVAZ. Yes, perhaps the design is quite modest, but the equipment cannot but please. And the price is more than reasonable.

1 place. Geely MK

  • Starting price - 330 thousand.
  • Improved equipment - 360 thousand rubles.
  • Fuel consumption - 6.8 l/100 km.
  • Transport tax - 1100 rub.
  • OSAGO - 3700 rub.
  • Power - 94 l. With.
  • Maintenance every 10,000 km will cost 7.5 thousand rubles. “Zero” maintenance is also necessary - 9 thousand.

Geely MK is the most popular Chinese sedan. This is not surprising, because it has a very attractive price. For an additional 30 thousand to the basic package, you can get a full list of comfort and safety elements. This includes air conditioning, airbags, power windows, electric mirrors, ABS, and even a leather-wrapped steering wheel and parking sensors. However, maintenance for a Chinese sedan must be carried out every 10,000 km. In addition, the owners of this car say that some small things require frequent repairs. But the Russian market is gradually filling up, and we have the right to expect the appearance of new budget cars, these could be fuel-efficient cars of class C, because small hatchbacks are more suitable for Europe.

And from the cars currently on the market, we have created a rating that includes fuel-efficient cars in terms of fuel consumption. 2014 was the year in which the most popular ones turned out to be. Maybe in the future the picture will change. For example, when economical gasoline cars of premium class will become available to a wide range of motorists.

Nowadays, the most economical cars are those that run on a hybrid or electric engine. But in our article, we decided to make a rating of the most economical cars in terms of fuel consumption in 2018-2019, excluding hybrids, only diesel and gasoline engines. The cost of gasoline increases several times every six months, and therefore, when buying a car, future car owners are increasingly paying attention to fuel consumption, and therefore we decided to make a rating of economical gasoline cars in 2019. For example, when buying a budget vehicle at a low price, a car enthusiast risks spending more on gasoline than when buying an expensive car. In 2015, only 1.6 million new passenger cars were sold in Russia, according to data from the Association of European Businesses (AEB). And this is not surprising, considering that on average, according to Autostat estimates, cars have risen in price by 25%. Along with car prices, vehicle operating costs have also increased. In order not to buy a car, which will then eat up a significant part of the family budget, Sravni.ru has identified the most economical cars from among the best-selling ones.

The Hyundai ix35 turned out to be the most profitable in terms of content, while in the list of preferences of Russians it is only in 23rd place. The cost of annual ownership of this car will cost the driver approximately 66,917 rubles. Of these, 9.2 thousand rubles will be spent on transport tax, 9 thousand rubles on maintenance, 10.9 thousand rubles on compulsory motor insurance, and 37.7 thousand rubles on diesel fuel. It turns out that each kilometer of the ix35 will cost from four rubles. Monthly costs will be 5,576 rubles.

But the most popular Lada Granta in Russia was not included in the top 10. To use this car, the owner will have to pay for its maintenance after purchase at least another 6,525 rubles per month (78,301 rubles per year). Renault Sandero closes the top three leaders in profitable cars; the cost of it will be 72,924 rubles (per month – 6,077 rubles).

At a time when the middle social class has practically ceased to exist in its true form, the tendency to produce “low-cost” cars is given an important place. This applies to everything from the cost of purchase and further maintenance, right down to the amount of fuel consumed. By the way, the last characteristic is decisive in the minds of millions of consumers, since the annual cost of refueling can be up to 40-50% of the total cost of maintaining a car.

In connection with the active popularization of the topic of savings based on fuel consumption, the Expertology team conducted its own market research. Within the framework of this study, the main attention was paid to finding the most suitable configurations for the conditions, as well as analyzing reviews from consumers and in-house experts. Based on the results of the research, a rating of the 20 most economical cars was compiled, divided into two thematic categories based on cost.

The most economical budget cars

All car models included in the C4 line of the Citroen brand use the same set of engines and their modifications in conjunction with similar gearboxes. As part of the rating, we decided to highlight the Cactus as the most non-trivial and original car from a very conservative French company.

The most economical configuration of the Citroen C4 Cactus is a pair of 1.6-liter diesel engine (turbocharged e-HDi 92)/5-speed manual transmission: consumption per 100 kilometers on the highway will be only 3.5 liters. At the same time, the power characteristics are quite good: 92 horsepower can be considered as a powerful argument for a car positioned as an urban crossover - you can even try driving off-road. This is facilitated by the presence of special rubber linings on the body, and a “grand” deviation from the canons - for the first time in Citroen cars, the sills and wheel arches are finished with protective plastic.

Advantages

  • finishing of thresholds and arches with plastic to protect the metal from corrosion and impact;
  • very low fuel consumption for a 1.6-liter engine;
  • Air Bump pads located along the body protect against impacts and minor scratches.
  • acceleration to 100 kilometers per hour takes 9.3 seconds.

Flaws

  • not detected.

In addition to the regalia of the best-selling Korean car in Russia, the Kia Rio FL is rightfully considered one of the most economical in its class. The noticeable appearance and high quality of technical implementation allowed the car to impose a serious fight on the Hyundai Solaris, and at the turn of 2018 it beat its eternal competitor.

As part of this nomination, you should consider the diesel version of the Kia Rio FL, equipped with a 1.1-liter engine. Despite its modest volume figures, this “baby” produces up to 123 horsepower, and in conjunction with a 6-speed manual transmission, consumes only 3.6 liters of diesel fuel per 100 kilometers. Excellent performance for a car that can be classified as budget. This is a worthy second place in the ranking.

Advantages

  • good acceleration dynamics;
  • high power for a small engine;
  • one of the most popular cars in Russia;
  • Quite low cost of maintenance.

Flaws

  • rustic exterior design.

The sophistication and elegance of the Peugeot 208 is not questioned in any more or less professional car review - this is a traditionally strong feature of the model and the French manufacturer as a whole. It just so happened that our rating included a package with a 1-liter three-cylinder engine for purely urban driving and little waste on repairs/maintenance and refueling.

Behind the attractive appearance of the Peugeot 208 version in question, very modest technical indicators are hidden: 68 horsepower and 95 Nm of torque at 3000 rpm. Of course, there is no need to talk about any dynamics here: the maximum speed does not exceed 163 kilometers per hour, and acceleration to hundreds takes as much as 14 seconds (however, for a curb weight of 1484 kilograms this is very equivalent). But the average highway consumption is 3.7 liters, which allows the car to come close to the leader of the rating.

Advantages

  • compact and attractive city car;
  • low cost of maintenance;
  • ideal consumption parameters for driving in a city rhythm.

Flaws

  • very “modest” engine characteristics.

Kia Picanto (1.0 l)

A typical urban small car, released as an alternative to the Daewoo Matiz and compact hatchbacks from Toyota, as well as the Huyndai Getz and i10, which were not included in the Russian market. Since its release in 2004, it has undergone four restylings, and as of 2016 it has acquired features inherent in all representatives of the current line of cars from Kia.

Currently, Picanto trim levels offer a choice of only two engines: a liter R3 with 67 horsepower and a 1.25-liter R4 with 84 horsepower, respectively. The most economical of this pair is the first option: per 100 kilometers on the highway it consumes only 4.5 liters. The acceleration dynamics cannot be called bad either: 13.9 seconds to 100 kilometers per hour looks quite expected for a model that weighs 840 kilograms. The maximum possible speed is limited to 163 kilometers per hour, which is just right for moving around the city.

Advantages

  • repeated awards as the best small car according to Top Gear magazine and the decision of associations of independent auto publications;
  • nice visual style
  • small dimensions are ideally suited to urban conditions;
  • good speed characteristics;
  • low purchase price.

Flaws

  • not detected.

Since the Ford Fiesta with a 1.6-liter turbodiesel engine is far from a budget car, in this rating category we will consider a naturally aspirated gasoline model of the same volume. The beauty of the configuration under consideration lies in the competent balance between price and claims to a pleasant driving experience. In fact, many users note good movement dynamics, as well as the reliability and ease of maintenance of the unit.

In conjunction with a manual 5-speed gearbox, the Ford Fiesta 1.6 produces up to 105 horsepower, thanks to which it can accelerate to hundreds in 11.4 seconds. For a subcompact car, this is quite good. In addition, a big plus to the model’s advantages was the complete restyling of the body - the new look appealed to all connoisseurs of aesthetics and enlarged features, which the Americans from Ford emphasize. In the extra-urban cycle, the Fiesta with the designated engine and transmission configuration consumes only 4.5 liters per 100 kilometers, which is the fifth best result among the nominees in this category.

Advantages

  • fairly economical fuel consumption;
  • acceleration dynamics;
  • high reliability of the power unit;
  • updated body.

Flaws

  • outdated gasoline engine architecture.

The 1.5-liter version of the Mazda 3, introduced to the automotive community in 2014, is one of the most fuel-efficient versions of the full-size sedan. The whole essence of this car lies in its representative appearance, truly beautiful and looks good against the background of its “classmate competitors”. But the driving dynamics and speed characteristics, alas, faded into the background.

In fact, the Mazda 3 has cultivated comfort, sacrificing dynamics for the feeling that business-class cars give. According to official data, acceleration to hundreds takes 11.6 seconds, and the maximum speed does not exceed 193 kilometers per hour. Highway consumption paired with a 5-speed manual transmission is 4.8 liters per 100 kilometers. The result is good, but if this version had a little more than 115 horsepower...

Advantages

  • high level of driving comfort;
  • representative appearance;
  • an abundance of configurations for any needs (for the model as a whole);
  • low fuel consumption and efficiency (taking into account the fact that the engine requires 95 gasoline).

Flaws

  • low acceleration dynamics.

Ravon R2 (1.3 l)

Ravon's two-door hatchback is a very controversial model. Striving to become a niche flagship for the urban environment and adapting to modern operating conditions (less money on maintenance - more impact), it manages to lose to its competitors in terms of fuel consumption and, quite simply, in terms of appearance.

A 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine is integrated into the angular body with enlarged features, producing up to 85 horsepower. By the way, the Renault Logan assortment still includes a 1.6-liter engine with a power of no more than 82 horses (however, this engine is 8-valve). As for the Ravon R2, the maximum speed is 163 kilometers per hour, and the first hundred is reached in 12.4 seconds. The controls are quite soft and understandable, but the hatchback, alas, lacks dynamics. For every 100 kilometers traveled, an average of 5.1 liters of gasoline is consumed - this is the seventh line in our rating.

Advantages

  • updated body design (rejection of rounded shapes towards large features);
  • slightly increased comfort conditions;
  • integration of a new engine with a modernized architecture;
  • low cost on the domestic Russian market.

Flaws

  • the third generation of the Matiz car with all the attendant shortcomings.

The Ford Focus can hardly be called a budget sedan - purchasing a new car can cost a pretty penny. However, it is definitely one of the most economical: the reason for this lies in the updated 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine. Thanks to a set of innovative technologies integrated into its development process, engineers were able to significantly increase power with virtually unchanged fuel consumption.

In addition to updating the power unit, the Ford Focus has also undergone dramatic cosmetic changes: the front part of the body, optics have been completely redesigned, and several volumetric lines have been added along the perimeter of the side part. We cannot point out any specific configuration from the entire variety presented, so we will give a general description of the entire model range: the engine is paired with a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic, produces from 105 to 180 horsepower and consumes 5. 1 - 6.3 liters per 100 kilometers.

Advantages

  • significantly updated appearance;
  • very large variation in the power indicators of a gasoline engine in conjunction with gearboxes;
  • high degree of engine reliability.

Flaws

  • The cost of the model is quite high on the Russian market.

Lada Vesta (1.6 l)

A domestic sedan produced in 2015, which has become the main competitor in the Renault Logan segment. And, in terms of dynamics, Vesta is slightly superior to it: this can be seen in the overclocking characteristics. The domestic car reaches a speed of 100 kilometers per hour in 11.8 seconds, and in combination with an engine and an automatic transmission. In general, it turns out to be a rather strange situation: according to statistics, consumption with a 5-speed automatic turned out to be lower than with a 5-speed manual, and amounted to 5.3 liters per 100 kilometers in the extra-urban cycle.

The power of the standard Lada Vesta engine is 106 horsepower, and the torque reaches 148 Nm at 4200 rpm. Externally, the model looks nice, but does not evoke a feeling of “luxury” - this is due to the fact that the car belongs to the budget segment. There is also nothing special to say about the interior, since the decoration is pleasant and corresponds to the spirit of the times, but does not contain any unique solutions.

Advantages

  • optimal characteristics of the “junior” engine of the series;
  • low fuel consumption;
  • full adaptation to movement on Russian roads.

Flaws

  • not detected.

A constant competitor and partner of domestic sedans, from the current generation it has switched to an updated 1.6-liter engine. Logan has always been a car of increased interest (or even demand) from consumers, since its low price and satisfactory driving characteristics made it possible to operate the car harshly on the realities of Russian roads. Until recently, this model was associated with clumsy body features, but with each restyling, more and more rounded shapes appeared and, in the end, the look came closer to the concept of “presentable”.

According to the characteristics of the updated engine, Renault Logan is slightly ahead of Lada Vesta: 113 horsepower is removed from 1.6 liters. But the consumption figures paired with a 5-speed manual are slightly inferior - for every 100 kilometers on a country highway the car spends 5.6 liters. It’s a bit much, but Logan deserves to be included in the rating.

Advantages

  • updated appearance and interior;
  • it is possible to select a modified 16-valve engine;
  • improved driving performance;
  • increased comfort of movement.

Flaws

  • not detected.

Continuity of engines, regardless of body type, is one of the features of the modern automobile industry. In the situation with the Volkswgen Polo, the user can purchase either a sedan or a hatchback, under the hood of which an economical 1.4-liter gasoline engine will be placed. At first glance, everything looks quite modest, but the presence of turbocharging and stratified injection (Turbo Stratified Injection) make the power unit one of the most technologically advanced in this category.

With a power of 100 horsepower, when driving on the highway, the Volkswagen Polo consumes only 5.7 liters per 100 kilometers. This is not bad, especially considering that the engine requires extremely expensive fuel (according to the specification - 95th Euro 5 standard). And of course, a manual gearbox with 5 shift stages also plays an important role in such consumption. We will not comment on the appearance of the car - the classic shape of the model is praised by calm people (mostly families), and condemned by lovers of interesting designs.

Advantages

  • high power with a small engine volume;
  • fairly low consumption;
  • pragmatic style of the body and interior decoration.

Flaws

  • The engine is very demanding on the quality of technical fluids.

The most economical cars in terms of price/quality ratio

The leader in the ranking of the most economical cars unexpectedly becomes...Vlokswagen Golf 1.4 TSI with a diesel engine and in a new body. This car is quite expensive (for its status), and maintenance often requires significant cash injections. But the minimum fuel consumption is 2.6 liters on a suburban highway.

The turbodiesel installed in this version of the Golf produces up to 125 horsepower. This has a positive effect on both the dynamics of movement and the drive that you want to feel behind the wheel of a car. There is nothing to say about the comfort of the interior, since, as many owners note, it is standard - it is not possible to highlight anything unique. Acceleration from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour takes 9.5 seconds, provided that the transmission is a 6-speed manual. The result is good, but I want a little more.

Advantages

  • traditional body contours (seventh generation Golf, after all);
  • optimal characteristics of a small engine;
  • lowest fuel consumption.

Flaws

  • high purchase price and further maintenance.

The diesel 118i from BMW is a real find for those who like to save money in small things. Despite the price of 1.5 million rubles, a representative of the first series may turn out to be a really good buy. Firstly, due to its status: the BMW brand is recognizable and respected. Secondly, the emphasis on comfort: many might argue, but compared to its competitors, the 118i is truly a focus on ergonomics. Thirdly: an extremely economical diesel engine with good technical performance.

The 1.5-liter power unit is truly one of the most economical in its segment: 3 cylinders produce only 3.3 liters of diesel fuel per 100 kilometers in the extra-urban cycle. At the same time, they produce an honest 116 horsepower and a maximum speed of 200 kilometers per hour. But with acceleration, not everything is so simple: official data says from 10.3 seconds to hundreds, but in independent tests people don’t even get beyond 11 seconds. Can this be considered a disadvantage? Perhaps, but the fact of the most economical car in the ranking remains unchanged.

Advantages

  • low purchase price;
  • traditionally bright and recognizable appearance;
  • comfort;
  • very low fuel consumption (3.3 liters per 100 kilometers).

Flaws

  • deliberately false data on the characteristics of acceleration to 100 kilometers per hour.

A top selling UK car and an economical car with true British character. Mini is one of the brands that is part of the German BMW group, so you don’t have to worry about quality. One of the important decisions of the engineers was the integration under the hood of a 1.5-liter diesel engine producing 95 horsepower. For such a small car, this is a serious indicator, since even the old diesel Mitsubishi Pajero (whose weight is much higher than that of the Coupe) had 99 horsepower from a 2-liter engine.

The above comparison may be incorrect from the point of view of the different technologies used in creating engines, but the fact of the excellent work of German craftsmen is obvious: Mini Cooper is highly popular in Europe. For every 100 kilometers traveled, the car consumes 3.6 liters of diesel fuel, which is the third result in this rating category.

Advantages

  • recognizable and pleasant appearance;
  • high-quality equipment based on a diesel engine with a 6-speed manual transmission;
  • highest level of comfort.

Flaws

  • traditionally high price.

Smart Two is an exclusive and even somewhat exotic phenomenon on the Russian market. The very compact “car of the future,” as manufacturers position it, is a variation on the theme of saving space on the road - however, to acquire this “saving” you need to pay almost 1 million rubles. The exorbitant price tag and appetites of the Smart company cannot be attributed to anything at all: all other things being equal, people will buy more familiar full-size sedans and hatchbacks with the possibility of paying a third less for them.

With all the formalities out of the way, let's move on to a review of the engine parameters. Both variations of the power unit, coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission, have equal fuel consumption per 100 kilometers: 4.1 liters each. But at the same time, one of them, with a volume of 0.9 liters, produces 90 horsepower, and the second, with a volume of 1 liter, hardly reaches 71 horsepower. Thus, Smart engineers can be praised for their implementation - this economical car turned out to be in the spirit of the times and taking into account all current requirements. But the chance of Russian users purchasing it is extremely low - the contrast of alternative options does its job.

Advantages

  • very productive 0.9 liter engine;
  • compact model that takes up little space in parking lots and roads;
  • 190 liters of luggage compartment;
  • high driving dynamics.

Flaws

  • extremely high price for a microcar.

Another representative of the German automobile industry in general and the VAG group in particular, who claims to be the “icon” of efficiency among middle-class gasoline cars. And it’s worth noting that Rapid does this very well. Not long ago, the model underwent visual styling changes, which was followed by a slight increase in the cost of the car in the domestic market and increased interest from the consumer segment.

While the visual features of the Skoda Rapid bring a lot of aesthetic pleasure, some configurations (meaning the engine/transmission combination) look very weak. For example, a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with distributed injection of gasoline fuel, producing only 90 horsepower. However, this is the most economical version of the car, and therefore its place in the ranking is beyond doubt. The maximum speed of a car with such an engine is 185 kilometers per hour, and fuel consumption is 4.6 liters per 100 kilometers.

Advantages

  • nice body design;
  • high degree of vehicle reliability;
  • very low fuel consumption;
  • low purchase price;
  • the presence of sound insulation all around and a spacious luggage compartment (530 liters).

Flaws

  • very modest indicators of power, speed and dynamics for this configuration.

A direct competitor to the BMW 1 Series 118i, it combines more refined body features, a gentle demeanor and complete handling. Mercedes-Benz A180 is a full-fledged A-class hatchback, the aesthetics of which come first, leaving driving characteristics in the background. However, it is foolish to believe that the engineers of one of the giants of the German automotive industry lost sight of this component: everything has been brought to the stage at which no complaints can arise.

Consider the A180 model with a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine. With a power of 122 horsepower, it produces up to 200 Nm of torque and accelerates the car to 100 kilometers per hour in 9.2 seconds. An exit of 10 seconds can be considered a success, but by default you want more from Mercedes-Benz. The maximum speed is 202 kilometers per hour - a good indicator, especially in light of the quality of most Russian roads. In terms of fuel consumption, the model is naturally located in the middle of the rating with an indicator of 4.7 liters (5-speed manual) per 100 kilometers.

Advantages

  • traditionally recognizable features of the German grandee;
  • acceptable dynamic performance;
  • emphasis on comfort and representativeness;
  • very reliable engine (4-cylinder) with turbocharging.

Flaws

  • You always expect a little more from Mercedes cars.

An enchanting hatchback produced in 2010, made in the best traditions of Audi: powerful, beautiful and very pragmatic. For unknown reasons, it has not received wide distribution in Russia, although, objectively, it is worth taking it for everyday use. At least because of the 1.4-liter turbocharged engine, which produces 185 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque at 4500 rpm.

The maximum speed of the Audi A1 in the proposed configuration is 227 kilometers per hour - this is an excellent indicator for a car that weighs 1.3 tons. Acceleration to 100 kilometers per hour takes just 6.9 seconds, and for every 100 kilometers on the highway, only 5.1 liters of gasoline are consumed. The only real downside to this version is that the engine is only paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission. If the package included a manual transmission, consumption would be reduced by several more points.

As part of a brief review, we will consider one of the “starter” versions of the V40 Cross Country, equipped with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and turbocharging. Its maximum power is 152 horsepower and torque is 250 Nm in the range from 1700 to 4000 rpm. The engine is combined only with an automatic 6-speed transmission, providing acceleration to kilometers per hour in 8.5 seconds. Fuel consumption remains at the level of the Toyota Corolla, namely 5.6 liters per 100 kilometers. But purely outwardly, the sympathies of the author of the text remain with Volvo.

Advantages

  • variability in the choice of configurations - versions with turbocharged petrol (from 1.5 to 2 liters) and diesel (2 liters) engines are available;
  • very nice interior design and decoration;
  • increased ground clearance;
  • good driving characteristics.

Flaws

  • not found.

This is an economical car, now of a representative class, which has long been firmly established in the domestic market. Toyota approaches updating its own line very competently, alternating small restylings with comprehensive updates to the visual, mechanical and power parts. The 1.6-liter engine has not yet been abandoned: the old model is still in the top sales by trim level. It is characterized by a power of 124 horsepower and a torque of 157 Nm at 5200 rpm.

Acceleration of the Toyota Corolla to 100 kilometers per hour takes about 10.4 seconds, and the maximum speed is 195 kilometers per hour. The lowest fuel consumption appears when the engine in question is combined with a 5-speed manual transmission: in the extra-urban cycle, the consumption rate ranges from 5.6 to 5.8 liters per 10 kilometers. This is the last place in the rating in this category - however, it does not make the car worse than its competitors.

Advantages

  • adaptability to Russian operating conditions;
  • for an old engine - excellent power and torque indicators;
  • high level of interior ergonomics.

Flaws

  • not detected.

Attention! This rating is subjective in nature, is not an advertisement and does not serve as a purchase guide. Before purchasing, consultation with a specialist is required.
