24-year-old Artem Kaichuk, Automobile Samodelkin, devoted this project to his grandfather. Only the nasal part was taken from GAZ-69, and all other details went to the homemade jeep from other cars.

The basis was taken well-preserved Land Cruiser 60 frame, Artem put on her the body of Minivan Nissan Caravan, to the front of which the "Morda" was welded. In the salon, it was decided to maintain the original planting formula of the Soviet SUV, where the folding seats are located behind the two stationary seats. This "custom" engine ZMZ-409 engine from the Hunter AUZ and the transmission from Land Cruiser is driven.

Personal attitude

And even unusually learn about the owner of the replicar: 24-year-old Artem Kaichuk, who dedicated this project to his grandfather and calling him "in memory of the grandfather." Do you now find young people "generation 90s" with such an attitude to the family history? We must immediately say that Artem lives by cars from childhood, largely due to the professions and hobbies in the family, where everything is on wheels and on work, and on vacation, including long journeys. But I have long wanted something non-standard, rare, made in your understanding and with your own hands, although not without help, of course.

Impulse to creativity in this direction and became the grandfather "Gazik", which was brought to ride, but which was not preserved. However, the skills of "jeep establishments" were obtained back in 2011 in the preparation of the IAZ-452 family, the Japanese Diesel, "Barsov" bridges (gentle-reserved UAZ with an extended rut), were preparing for serious off-road. That's after him and imbued with the idea of \u200b\u200breanimating the image of GAZ-69 - and I liked the car myself, and I wanted something to do. What exactly should work out and how to realize, imagined vaguely, so it just decided to start with the search for some original source.

And found. Shabby, semi-disconnected, places exposed, without a rear axle, with the "Volgovsky" engine - the state of the "prototype" was least located to the embodiment of the intended. With obviously "killed" the aggregates did not want to contact, to return the past in authentic form was extremely difficult, but the sad look of big "eyes" was no longer released. So I decided to do everything out of it, but only now there were donors.

Here, by the way, the announcement of the sale of another raritet - Land Cruiser 60 was caught here. Another first generation: with two round headlights and 2F gasoline engine. As the acquaintance has shown, the years in Russia were not in vain: there were already traces of "import substitution" - on the legendary Japanese SUV, spare parts from GAZ-53, from the Volga, from the UAZ ... Although in general the chassis in a legally native state. We must take, bridges will be accurately useful. They removed the bounced by places, and under it almost in the ideal state of the frame. In any case, he immediately remembered that UAZ-452, where, after installing the diesel engine, the "Range" began to burst, it was necessary to strengthen. Here, without a small on a 30-year-old "sixtieth", the metal inspired confidence. And why, ask something to redo, if there is a ready-made solution, ready chassis?

I tried to hoist the body of the 69th. Just so far for the experiment, it was necessary to start with something. And here, Artem became clear that from that grandfather "Gazika", on which he traveled in childhood, he grew significantly: closely, small low windows, the roof "on the head", the volume is missing, there are no visibility. In general, I didn't fit normally, the space is limited, and then the car was needed not only for beauty, but also everyday operation, as well as long-distance departures. All the idea suddenly slowed down, suddenly put in a dead end. What to do now?

The further course of the events suggested a minibus with the characteristic name - Nissan Caravan, which is indifferent and immobally dust in the sidelines. It was bought as a donor for tuning of that very UAZ-452, filmed the engine and the box, and the body remained. And I don't need it like, but also throw out a pity, perhaps it will be needed. And I came in handy. I measured all the roulette, it is quite suitable for dimensions, even powerful spars by type of integrated frame, very successfully "lay" on the LC frame, do not cut and disrupt the power structure.

At first, I thought to cut off the spacious back of the "Caravan" and replace it with theft of the 69th. And then it came to say with itself - why not together with the whole front, windshield, with doors? It is only necessary to cut a central fragment with a sliding door, since the whole body in the intention did not fit in any way. Then, to a flat "face" minibus put only the nasal part of the 69th. Even in its foundation, the nubbits "Gazika" did not close the widespread Lobovina "Caravan", but in general it looked good - if they carefully combat, then a completely harmonious combination of volumes is possible.

Between past and present

So it all twisted-threatened with the hardware: sawing, docking, fit - the front of the 69th, as at home, settled on the front axle LC, almost without a sink, and the rear wheeled niches of the minibus sat on the rear, ensuring proportional sv. As a result, a completely new silhouette with a recognizable face, a classic chassis scheme, but already different, "minibus" layout in the cabin designated on a fully saved base of LC 60. In the sense that it turned out a free, more vertical landing, but with the placement of the engine in front, as it should be an SUV.

The front chairs remained in their place (only others), under them, where in the case of a "caravan" there was a motor compartment, a fuel tank was found, a battery, small runes. Body spars "Caravan" are screwed to the LC frame, did not have to welded anything, everything turned out to be doubly hard, thoroughly.

At the same time, under the hood turned out to be not what could be expected. This part of the project will certainly cause more ambiguous estimates, but the author proceeded from certain considerations, in its own way of logical, argued. It would seem that the ideologically correct solution came along with LC 60. Inline cast iron six 2F, with the lower camshaft and carburetor power supply, 135 forces at 3,600 revolutions and 210 nm at 1,800 revolutions. Charm, in one word, was put on the great-grandfather FJ. Nevertheless, this mighty gasoline "knight" did not suit: heavy, archaic, and the resource has already developed its own. Since the maximum identity was not in priority tasks, just as extreme trophy raids were not included in the circle of future duties, I wanted the engine easier, more modern.

Again, a diesel appeared, and the appropriate seemed to be in the "storerooms" - TD27, together with KP and RK (dispensing box), ready-made "KIT". Actually, he wanted to put it, but the doubts took another sense: they will remain not the deeds of the native aggregates of the sixtieth, and in the bridges it will be necessary to change the main pairs, to choose already under this diesel, besides, the way out of the Republic of Kazakhstan is here on the other side. It was decided to go through the smallest resistance: to completely leave the transmission from Lc, and to look for a new gasoline engine (that is, it is better to change one unit than everything for one).

Searches for a possible replacement, so that and the price is satisfied, and the parameters went not easy. Of course, the Japanese second-hand engines were considered. And yet, as a result, something "protest" happened: if it was called around for a long time to put foreign security plants on domestic cars, then it happened exactly the opposite. That is, for the Japanese chassis, the choice fell on the ZMZ-409. He arranged from the technical side, and from the "political" - yet in the project I wanted to bring more Russian more.

And yet it does not mean that the project developed smoothly as oil. To convey the "Spirit of Time" and at the same time to meet at least modest modern requirements in design, comfort and management, has gone good two years of painstaking work. And the point is not only in the ZMZ-409 docking with the LC 60 box, when it was necessary to build a transition slab, as well as on special order to produce an elongated primary shaft of the box. It was also necessary to transfer the right-handed control of LC 60 and Nissan Caravan on the left side - that "demanded" the image of GAZ-69 and their own desires. And if you consider that the steering LC 60 was without an amplifier, and remain without it in the help of the "spirit of time" did not want to do not want a big deal.

And this case requested its considerable investments: one only found from the left-handered LC 60 gearbox with a waterwater in working condition bypassing 25,000 rubles. Much time left on the alteration of control. Coupling "UAZ", but with brakes to wisely did not become: native Japanese ahead and rear (disk and drum). Spring suspension, too, without change, like discs. The chase for the "extreme" was not intended initially, according to the conditional classification, the project was preparing for a "light" expeditionary, so no elevator and no rubber of the "Kozzovsky" size. Thirty-first Maxxis Mudzilla found quite acceptable option for trips on different roads.

Not only to "glue" the body of the three main parts, but also to bring it to the desired state - here's another task with a lot of conditions. The nose part of the 69th albeit on the LC 60 frame as in his nest, but did not coincide in the width in the width. To cover the "sixties" with their elegant wings, I had to make a "plastic surgery" - cut the wings along, implant strips with a width of six centimeters. "Dried" thus the physiognomy went 69th only for the benefit - with age, this is a normal phenomenon.

The replacement suggested by the LC 60 itself was suggested by LC 60 - his round "lenses" was accurately sat down in the rare metal "frame". But Artem's dimensions specifically searched the original, in order to preserve the charm to the charm. For full-fledged decoration, the final bumper from the UAZ-469 came to the rescue, but at the same time it was necessary to additionally "stream" his place to adjust the splashing apron, so that the headlights in the mud baths do not bother. At the rear arches: it was possible to leave their shape together with the body of the "Caravan" and make any lining. But why, because there were original "arcs" of the rear wings of the 69th: they fit perfectly here, transforming the stern under common retroskilly.

The retractable air intake for the "stove" is functionally stored as an exclusive element, but native wipers, of course, were no longer suitable. However, the "wipers" and from Caravan themselves did not fit, because they "Meli" from left to right, leaving a big untied corner for the driver when transferring the steering wheel to the left side. They tried to adapt something "our", but in vain. The exit from this dead-end situation again suggested by the Japanese auto industry, but already more modern: at the minivan Honda Odyssey "universal" cleaners, swing type, perfectly clean the windshield from the edge to the edge. On the "disassembly" managed to buy this system assembly and after the improvements of the thrust and levers are perfectly adapted here, with the preservation of all modes of operation, and not just "incl." and "off"

Separate song - front panel. After any unsuccessful experiments to "connect intact", including attempts to "reply" a panel from Istana, it was decided to make the "face" of the interior independently. The frame was welded, weathered with steel plates, picked up all the necessary pointers: a flat shape of the panel and round appliances as it is impossible to transfer the "Spirit of Time", even the pen before the passenger was installed, everything as in the 69th.

How does a car go? As it should be: Chinno, a rotate, with leisurely reactions to the steering wheel, with the need to grunt a little. But it rides confidently: power is enough not only for normal start and overclocking, but also to maintain cruising speed 110 km / h. And the thrust with these wheels is enough to be on the first transmission at idle turns without connecting the downstream row.

On the middle off-road, the engine fully justifies itself, but the fifth gear would prevent on the track: on the fourth at a speed of 90 km / h, the motor sounds on 2500 revolutions, if you add speed, then I would like to switch. On a broken road, the course of empty machine can, and not so smooth, like in 60s, but still without special jolts and vibrations. And if you directly compare with the 69th, then about its famous "goat" disease here and speak not to speak. Fuel consumption is as follows: on the highway in the area of \u200b\u200bten liters, in the city up to 15 and higher.

You can, of course, to see for ergonomics, they say, not everything is perfectly located, for the versatility of landing, there is not enough adjustments and all that such. But why? For himself, Artem came down everything normally, it is convenient for him, and the car, as mentioned, he did not just for the soul and as a memory, but to go a lot. Registered as GAZ-69 with re-equipment, active operation began with the summer of 2014, and by November, the mileage has reached almost 4,000 km! Approximately half of it amounted to the "rolling" period: both for the new engine and for old aggregates - despite their preliminary prevention, it took the replacement of some seals, Kardan crossmen, in general, on trifles.

Instruction

When building an SUV, follow the requirements developed for many years with lovers of extreme tourism. The real SUV must have: large clearance (at least 220 mm), the traction engine (better) with the protection against hydroudar, power steering, shock absorber on the steering trapezium, wheels of 31 or 33 inches, blocking differentials, powerful power thresholds and bumper, powerful tows Hooks, winch, protection of units on the side of the bottom, a large trunk on the roof, a radio station and navigation.

Start with the wheels. 70% of the off-road quality of the car depends on the size of the tires and the pattern of their tread. In addition, large wheels save the suspension from strong blows, allow you to get out of the cargo or tractor rut, increase. Choosing tires in the drawing of the tread, focus on the magnitude of the primer. In most cases, when installing large wheels on an SUV, a body lifting is required.

Spend suspension lifting. If the frame SUV, lift the body over the frame by setting the slope of the increased size. Ordinary hockey washers can be consolidated as spacers. For gasoline engine, additionally protect the ignition system and candles from water exposure. If there is no desire to mess around, purchase ready-made kits. With the independent manufacture of the Schnorkel, try to use as much-quality materials as possible. At the same time, the pipe should have a fairly large cross section and have no more than 2-3 knees. Its fastening must withstand the shaved branches of trees.

Additionally, protect the transmission from the water: Sapunov valves in bridges, dispensing box and gearbox are in a good condition and output them with plastic tubes as high as possible. Make the sealing of the neck of the gas tank and the engine. Put protection on the bottom under the engine, gearbox, gas tank, steering slats. As a material, take aluminum or steel.

The steering shock absorber (damper), protecting the steering wheel from shocks transmitted from the wheels, is regularly installed on SUVs such as Defender or Mercedes G-Class. For an independent installation, this take a double-sided shock absorber, calculate the attachment points on the steering trapezium and secure efficiently.

Power bumpers and thresholds, withstanding a subdomain of an SUV from any position, acquire in the firms dealing with off-road tuning, or do it yourself. In the manufacture of such products it is important to observe certain subtleties. Therefore, if you wish to make these details yourself, be sure to advise with professionals. The power bumper must necessarily have powerful towing hooks (eyelets) and welded directly to the frame. The front bumper should be designed to install the winch.

Install the mechanisms of inter-axes and inter-track differentials. They are sold ready-made sets and are intended for installation to the case of differential. Branded mechanisms work more reliable and clearer than regular. The main minus blocking is the ability to damage the transmission, if you forget to turn them off after overcoming off-road.

Put an expedition trunk on the roof. This is an indispensable for road trip. The trunk can be welded alone from the pipes of the desired size. Thinking a car for travel, the author decided to lay in it constructive simplicity, reliability in work, unpretentiousness and accessibility in service. When choosing a layout, he stopped at the "jeep" scheme, but its option from the classic is different in that it has only one leading bridge - rear, for simplicity.

Externally, the "jeep" looks less than, say, Loise, although it is not inferior to the size of the cabin and the trunk. This is achieved, first, dense "packaging" of the motor compartment and, secondly, the external accommodation of the part of the baggage (on the roof), the spare wheel (left on board) and the canisters (rear). Full weight - 900 kg.

Simplifications, however, did not affect the driving values \u200b\u200bof the car, it has already passed hundreds of thousands of kilometers. Less loaded hood, doors and rear window are made of chawls, brands and corners connected by rivets.

The floor in the cabin and the hood cover are made of corrugated duraluminum sheets with a thickness of 2 mm. Body clamping - from smooth sheets with a thickness of 1.5 mm. They are attached to the m5 screws with a secret head. Sheets are hidden rubber and metal overlays.

Cabin from the inside is lined with a thin layer of foam rubber and soft plastic. Triplex glazing, as well as doors are equipped with rubber seals from cars of the Volga Auto Plant. The floor is covered with rubber and synthetic mats. All this reduces the noise level in the cabin and prevents the penetration of dust.

Dashboard and glove box - homemade. Front chairs with folding backrest - "Zhigulevsky". The rear passenger seat designed for three people, self-made and has a fixed back. Behind him, below, the fuel tank with a capacity of 45 liters (from "UAZ") with a neck derived from the outside under the rear bumper. Above the tank is an internal trunk. The principle of "simplicity plus reliability" spread to the power plant: the engine and gearbox are taken together with the serving units from "Zhiguli" VAZ-2101. Only a paper oil filter is replaced cheaper in operation inertial from ZAZ-968.

The rear axle, taking into account the capabilities of towing the trailer, taken from the VAZ-2102 and slightly finalize: the lower support cups of the suspension springs and the mounting brackets of the upper jet rods are removed. Instead of them to the beam of the bridge, two P-shaped sector pillows are welded.

Springs are used from the front suspension of the UAZ-469 car. Each package consists of five sheets covered before assembling graphite lubricant. They are suspended with the body frame in the area of \u200b\u200bthe rear side meters.

In addition to the springs there are telescopic shock absorbers. Rubber-metal hinges of the tanks, as well as on the "Zhiguli", are attached to the rear axle brackets, and hinges of the casing - to the fingers on the intermediate crossbar.

The torque from the engine to the rear axle is transmitted by the cardan shaft from the "Volga" GAZ-21. The choice of this type is due to the fact that it is simpler and reliable and does not require much care. True, the planting holes do not coincide, therefore, to attach the shaft to the flanges of the gearbox and the bridge are sharpened adapters.

They are steel washers with a diameter of 100 mm and a thickness of 33 mm, in which 8 cross-cutting holes are drilled. In 4-appropriate holes on the flange, the thread M8 is cut, and in the other M10

As for the front axle, it is completely homemade: I designing it, Hopsanoov was guided by his favorite principle of "simplicity plus reliability." The course of reasoning was about this: the front axle is a very responsible aggregate. It provides traffic control, "health" of the entire car depends on his "well-being". Therefore, the smaller it will be parts and moving connections, the better.

Three years of operation showed: the solution was made correct. Which stones and potholes either fell under the front wheels - everything is not necessary. This is how the bridge is arranged.

The main element is a thick-walled seamless steel pipe 060 and a length of 1100 mm. Pressing pillows are welded to it, fingers fastening shock absorbers and reference platforms of front suspension ball bearings.

Idea for fishing

- The answer on the question: where to buy such? Maybe only one - I have! This is a piece specimen, the second is not there in nature. But he is not for sale: I did it for myself, for convenience yes for the soul, why would I part with him? - Paul laughs.

The idea of \u200b\u200bcreating a convenient and passable SUV appeared from Paul Machinist about six years ago. An avid fisherman and a hunter, one day he thought about what a car should be, which would easily overcome any off-road and did not create the owner of the problems. As Paul says, "so that it is not necessary to walk on the mud for the tractor, pulling the stuck jeep." Easy, but stable, powerful, but not consuming too much fuel, durable, comfortable ... and at the same time - not too expensive.

The comprehensive requirements of the car at that time did not exist in nature. And then Paul decided to make a car with his dream with his own hands! Fortunately, skills for this were enough. A car mechanic on education, Paul worked all his life with various equipment, ranging from cars and ending with special equipment.

Deciding not to postpone the idea in a long box, Paul soon bought the inexpensive "Suzuki Escudo" 1993 of the release, the easiest and most compact from the jeeps. And work on the creation of a car-giant boiled!

-The first of all took up the body, raised him from the frame. Then put bridges with the gearboxes from the UAZ, the rigid blocking of the differential and reinforced semi-axes. This is to ensure that the overall load on the wheels decreases, and at the same time the transmission of torque accounted for the wheel that the best grip with the ground. The car has a permanent four-wheel drive. To improve the patency, replaced the "native" engine with a volume of 1.6 liters per more powerful, two-liter, but also from Suzuki Escudo and the gearbox. The weight of the jeep is only 1900 kg, this motor is quite enough. But thanks to this ratio, the fuel consumption of my all-terrain vehicle, despite the impressive size, is not at all great - about 13 liters per 100 km along asphalt. Wheels - 120 cm rubber for 60 cm and discs in 21 inches specially ordered in Moscow. They cost very expensive. Typically, such rather big wheels are intended for special special equipment, the storming completely impassable off-road. With all the work, one me was not able to cope. Friends helped: with the body, and then with the design of the wings - Zinovy \u200b\u200bKravtsov, with transmission works - Andrei Timofeev.

Ahead of his "Giant" Paul placed a winch designed for 3 tons, with which a jeep can pull out himself or help get out other machines. True, larger cars than "Nissan Terrano", the light homemade all-terrain vehicle will not pull out, otherwise he risks damage himself. On the roof of Pavel made a hatch, but not just like an element of tuning, but for convenience: during an active holiday, it is convenient to inspect the surroundings from it. For comfort, the design of the wings is a coating waterproof.
