The compression of the spring is produced by its axis, and the support surface must correspond to the reference cup of the shock absorber and the body.

In addition, performing diagnostics, pay attention to the state of spring pads: if they are clearly visible traces of wear - it is better to replace such elements at once. With minor defects, you can still not change the spring, but it is mandatory to replace if:

- the item broke (usually it occurs in the highest or lower twist);

Corrosion or other damage to the metal is strongly noticeable;

The height of the car has decreased (measured and compares the distance between the wheel center and the edge of its arches, and on all four wheels);

There is no uniformity of the horizon of the vehicle (the difference in height between the front and rear parts of the machine).

3. Tools for checking the pendant spring

To carry out complete diagnostics of the suspension springs, you will need both conventional tools (wrenches and end keys, screwdrivers, hammer, etc.) and special puller and springs. As for the latter, they will significantly facilitate the task of dismantling, however, many motorists are perfectly coping with and without them. If you are going to check the rigidity of the springs, then the previously mentioned outdoor scales, measuring tape, manual press and wooden bars of suitable size will be unnecessary.
