How to make a snow plow. How to make a blade for clearing snow at MTZ and other equipment with your own hands. Homemade knife blade for walk-behind tractor drawing

Snowy winter is a disaster in most regions of Russia. If in cities this problem is puzzled by communal and road organizations equipped with special equipment, then in private houses the owners are left alone with the snow. Why not use a helper popular with site owners, usually only used in the summer? Motoblocks in this sense are universal, the main thing is to know how to make a do-it-yourself blade for a walk-behind tractor.

Purchase or manual assembly?

Snow plows in stores are quite expensive, in addition, there are special designs that use a walk-behind tractor for effective snow removal. If you do not have the necessary metalworking skills, it is safer to acquire attachments for cleaning factory-made snow.

However, having a welding machine, drill, material and free time, you can seriously save on the purchase of this attachment. In addition, a do-it-yourself blade for a walk-behind tractor can be modified and repaired at any time, and the reliability of such products is often higher.

Professional experience

You should not reinvent the wheel again, an approximate scheme for the manufacture of equipment for cleaning snow can be borrowed from manufacturers, for example, you can use a drawing of a blade for a walk-behind tractor of the Vsevolozhsk RMZ. Of course, the design can be simplified or strengthened, depending on the model of the walk-behind tractor, the main thing is, do not count on a large width of the blade-blade with a weak or too light unit.

Design

The main parts of the design are:

  • A shovel-blade or knife is a working part that interacts with the snow. It can be made from various materials... A metal plate with a thickness of 3 mm or more will do. Remember that the bottom part can cling to road surface and must be additionally reinforced with a metal strip on the working side and stiffening ribs on the back.
  • Swivel mechanism. It is often much more convenient to use the blade turned 30º so as not to push the entire snow mass in front of you, but to throw it away from the direction of travel. This reduces the load on the walk-behind tractor and allows you to move the snow in the right direction. The blade pivot and locking mechanism will require a 10mm thick plate, a strong pivot bolt at the primary attachment point, and a finger joint to lock the straight or tilted blade position.
  • The unit of docking and attachment to the walk-behind tractor can be different for each model. To make a do-it-yourself blade for a walk-behind tractor, you should not pay attention to the versatility of the attachment, it is better to take care of the reliability of fixing the blade on your walk-behind tractor.

Tools

Without a special tool, metalworking can become quite difficult. The following tools and fixtures should be prepared in the craftsman's workshop:

  • Welding machine. Handicraft craftsmen often use small transformer or inverter devices that allow them to carry out work on a mobile basis. Remember the safety precautions when working with welding.
  • Angle grinder, popularly referred to as a grinder. Remember to protect flammable materials from sparks, which can fly up to fifteen meters during operation.
  • Drill or hammer drill with a set of drills for metal of different diameters. Bolt and finger holes will be required.
  • Clamps and clamps can be useful when working without an assistant.

Materials (edit)

To make a do-it-yourself blade for a walk-behind tractor, the master has no restrictions on the selection of material, only the recommended parts are indicated in the list below, and possible replacements are also given:

  • Metal plate with a thickness of at least 3 mm for the manufacture of the working part of the blade. The dimensions depend on the planned parameters of the attachment, which, in turn, directly depend on the power of the walk-behind tractor. An old metal barrel with a capacity of 200 liters can serve as an excellent material, for which it needs to be cut into 3 pieces lengthwise and two of them welded around the perimeter for rigidity. When slicing the barrel lengthways, take precautions so that the sheet of metal does not suddenly bounce to the side. The third part can be cut for other parts of the blade.
  • Metal stiffeners can be made from a wide variety of materials, such as remnants of a 3 mm plate or corners and reinforcement.
  • The metal plate of the swivel mechanism must be at least 8 mm thick, as it is the most vulnerable point.
  • You will need a 40 x 40 mm square tube to make the clutch assembly, which can be adjusted using holes and bolts.
  • Wide blades may require additional tube or angle reinforcement.
  • Bolts and nuts with washers for fastening various assemblies and parts. Pins for the adjustable part of the swivel mechanism.

You can make a blade for a walk-behind tractor from a gas cylinder, but remember about safety measures when working with gas. The container must first be completely filled with water to exclude any possibility of fire or explosion.

Blade manufacturing

The figure shows circuit diagram snow plow based on the factory drawings at the beginning of the article. The design is simplified and the assembly is suitable for medium and light motoblocks. Ultra-light machines and motor-cultivators do not have enough power for effective snow removal. The dimensions of the blade depend on the wheelbase of the walk-behind tractor, its power and the size of the materials available. When making a blade with a width of more than 1 m, be sure to provide for reinforcement of the structure.

Driving to the site after a week of snowfall ... Whoever came across it will understand what I mean. Having found myself in such a situation, I found an unexpected way out.

There was an old one on my site, made of what was, but there were several metal corners and sheets of 12 mm plywood. And after some calculations and measurements, the first version of the snow plow was born (photo 1).

Its design is extremely simple, the main thing in it is the wedge-shaped shape and weight. A wedge is needed so that the car does not drift from side to side on a narrow road, and weight - so as not to fence additional fasteners and structures. The principle of operation is simple: you attach it to the car - and go, installation on the car takes no more than 5 minutes.

Ideally, an SUV with a frame is needed for such a scraper, but for an ordinary passenger car, I think you can use this design, the main thing is to find where it is safe to make the mount. I attached to two towing eyes (photo 2), but I also considered mounting to the engine protection as an option, especially since most cars have it.

There is a chain at the top under the bonnet that attaches to the bonnet lock. it lifting mechanism for the structure, it is used when turning or if you need to drive back. Of course, the system can be supplemented, but technically it is more difficult; however, it will be possible to operate the snow plow directly from the car's interior.

During operation, the structure was modified several times (underestimated for greater stability). I also installed vertical struts with spacers to increase rigidity.

However, after several cleanings, piles of snow appear along the edges of the road, interfering with cleaning. I had to supplement the structure with "ears" from the remnants of the laminate, attaching them at a slight angle. The cleaning efficiency has increased immediately, the road can be cleaned much wider and cleaner.

Probably, many will think: why is this all? The answer is simple. Having spent about 2 hours on the manufacture of the structure, now I spend 30 minutes on cleaning the road completely covered with snow (which is about 800 m). Everyone chooses for himself - to regularly pay for the services of a tractor driver for cleaning the road, laying out 3-4 thousand rubles each, to buy a snow plow made at the plant for 80-100 thousand rubles. or, having spent about 5-6 thousand rubles, enjoy the work done!

Also, in continuation of the topic, we read how to equip your car with a special attachment

The question of how to make a do-it-yourself blade for a walk-behind tractor arises in front of almost all land owners with the onset of winter. In specialized and online stores, there are many snow removal tools. However, not everyone has the opportunity to buy a walk-behind tractor with a factory-made blade. A good, high-quality, factory-made snow plow has an impressive cost. You can save on an expensive purchase if you show creativity and make a do-it-yourself blade for a walk-behind tractor. There is no need to purchase special equipment for such work. You can make a homemade blade for a walk-behind tractor from what is at hand.

Tools and materials

You can install a snow clearing knife on the frame of any motor-cultivator that has a power of more than 4 hp. and a weight of at least 50 kg. The heavier the unit is, the better it will cope with the effects of a blizzard. It is best to equip the domestic Neva walk-behind tractor with a shovel. This technique has high performance characteristics, adapted to work in the most difficult weather conditions with maximum load.

A do-it-yourself shovel for a walk-behind tractor is made using the following devices:

  • roulette;
  • welding machine;
  • grinder with discs for cutting and grinding metal;
  • electric drill;
  • set of wrenches;
  • screwdriver;
  • paint, paint brush.

After preparing the tool for work, it is necessary to decide on the material from which the shovel-blade for the Neva walk-behind tractor will be made. You can make a shovel from various metal products that have a sufficient margin of safety.

The blade for the Neva walk-behind tractor can be assembled from the following materials:

Manual snow removal over a large area is becoming a rare occurrence with the current state of the art.

Indeed, why spend long hours and energy on cleaning your estate, yard or street from the snowdrifts when there is powerful SUV, ATV or walk-behind tractor?

The plow for snow, which is easily hung on these types of equipment, significantly speeds up and facilitates the cleaning process.

In addition to dozens of ready-made structures that can be bought on the attachment market, such a "grader" can be made with your own hands with minimal material costs.

All snow plows, depending on the type of equipment with which they are aggregated, are divided into several groups. Let's take a closer look at these devices in order to better understand the design features and correctly assess their operating and price parameters.

Design features

Any blade consists of three main parts - a snow shovel, a mechanism for adjusting the angle of its rotation and a fastening unit fixed on the tractor frame.

To reduce vibration, protect the shovel and suspension from deformation when colliding with an obstacle, a spring-return mechanism is installed on advanced models. In order to protect the surface of the platforms from damage by the blade of the blade, a thick rubber tape on a multilayer cord base is installed on it.

Blade for off-road vehicle

If you are an SUV owner, then there is no need to buy a self-propelled snow blower to keep the site in perfect order. On a domestic "Niva", "UAZ" or a four-wheel drive foreign car, the devices for the moldboard snowplow are installed without any special problems and by the efforts of one person.

It is especially convenient that they have a collapsible design, so they can be easily dismantled and placed in luggage compartment car.

The plow for clearing snow is controlled directly from the cabin of the SUV using a special electric winch, which is supplied with it. The angle of rotation of the shovel is set in three different positions, which allows you to fine-tune it for picking up snow of different thickness and density.

Prices for simple snow plows for SUVs range from 25 to 35 thousand rubles. Their shovel width is from 1.25 to 1.8 meters. Imported units designed for powerful jeeps frame structure, significantly more expensive (from 60,000 to 250,000 rubles)

Blades for ATVs

High maneuverability, combined with high traction and powerful lugs, make a conventional ATV an excellent base for installing a snow shovel.

The blade selection process is a four-step process... First you need to decide on an installation kit - a structure that is attached to the frame and depends on the ATV model. Then a stretcher is selected, after which it remains to select a suitable blade and a mechanism for lifting it.

There are two types of installation kits- frontal and central. The first ones are designed to be connected to the frontal base of the ATV and are designed for vehicles with low ground clearance. The advantage of the second type is an increase in the rigidity of the tractor frame and an improvement in the stability of its movement when clearing snow.

The blade mount is designed in such a way that it does not reduce ground clearance and does not reduce the cross-country ability of the machine.

The width of a snow plow for an ATV depends on the engine power, machine weight and ranges from 125 to 150 cm.

Inexpensive snow shovels that do not have a lifting mechanism are equipped with "skis" - a special device for sliding, which maintains a safe gap between the blade of the shovel and the surface of the coating.

The highest quality, but at the same time the most expensive systems Blades for mounting on ATVs are produced by the American company Warn. A set consisting of a straight shovel, an installation kit and a front base together with lifting and turning mechanisms will cost the buyer 59,000 rubles. For comparison, prices for similar equipment from the Russian company Atvstar, but not equipped with a shovel drive, are in the range from 15 to 20 thousand rubles.

It is possible to work effectively with an ATV with a mounted shovel only on loose snow no more than 50 cm high and not packed into dense layers.

Snow removal with a walk-behind tractor

This unsightly-looking "hunchbacked horse" can do a lot different work, including cleaning snow blockages. Slow speed, sufficiently high power and high maneuverability allow it to easily cope with loose snow up to 40 cm high.

Manufacturers do not put spring damping mechanisms on the scrapers of walk-behind tractors, since the low speed of movement does not require special protection against contact with the unevenness of the coating. The walk-behind tractor does not need lifting-and-turning devices, which has a positive effect on the total cost of the snow removal kit.

Before starting work, the blade of the walk-behind tractor is manually turned to the right or left at an angle of up to 30 degrees. The width of a standard shovel for these machines is no more than 1 meter with a blade metal thickness of 2 to 3 mm.

When equipping your walk-behind tractor with snow-removing accessories, there is a reason to buy special steel lugs. By replacing pneumatic wheels with such "shoes", you will noticeably improve the quality of cleaning.

Prices for mounted shovels for these machines are low and are in the range of 4000-6000 rubles.

We make the blade ourselves

Making a blade for clearing snow with your own hands is not difficult if you have a welding machine, a drill, a tape measure and a grinder on your farm.

Here is one simple design for ATV owners. You will not have to look for a suitable metal for a long time, since an ordinary 200-liter steel barrel is quite suitable for this. Carefully cutting it into 3 pieces, we get curved segments for the shovel. Weld two of them along the contour, and the resulting 3 mm metal thickness will be quite enough for rigidity.

The bottom of the blade must be reinforced with a knife. This requires a 5 mm thick steel strip with a length equal to the width of the scraper. Holes with a diameter of 5-6 mm and a pitch of 10-12 cm must be drilled in the knife in advance to attach the safety rubber strip.

The most complex and critical parts of the entire structure- an attachment frame and subframe that connect the blade to the ATV. Therefore, it is better to buy them so as not to engage in painstaking shooting of the installation dimensions under the car. It is much easier to adapt a self-made snow plow to the factory fasteners and this work can be done "on site".

For a walk-behind tractor, the fastener design is much simpler and may well be made in a home workshop. To do this, a 40x40 mm square pipe must be welded to the dump welded from two halves of the barrel for reinforcement. Then a semicircle of thick steel with three holes is welded to the pipe, which are necessary to fix the angle of rotation of the shovel.

After that, an L-shaped holder is welded from the same pipe, one side of which is inserted into the mount on the blade, and the other is attached to the frame of the walk-behind tractor with bolts. Two bolts A and B are used to adjust the lifting height of the shovel. They are screwed into the holes drilled in the section. square pipe welded to hitch and put on the L-shaped holder.

The harsh winter is such that the owners of private houses often have to deal with snow removal. To solve the snow problem, they use various tools, shovels, etc. Manual snow removal from a large area with the existing level of technology development has become a rare case. And really, why do you need to waste long hours and energy on clearing snowdrifts and debris from your backyard, if you can make a homemade blade for a walk-behind tractor with your own hands.

Homemade blade for a walk-behind tractor with your own hands drawings

Snow plows, easily mounted on all types of equipment, significantly speed up and facilitate the process of clearing snow. Any snow blower blade for a walk-behind tractor contains three main parts - a snow shovel, a shovel angle adjustment device and a mounting unit that fixes the shovel on the tractor frame.

There are several designs of ready-made dumps that are included in the attachment kits, however, such a "grader" can make a homemade dump for a walk-behind tractor with your own hands, the drawings are given below.

The dump shovel is an element of attachments used in conjunction with a walk-behind tractor. It can be used to mechanize such routine work on land plot like garbage collection, snow removal in winter period, as well as leveling the surface of the earth and its transfer from one place to another.

Blades have various modifications, but in general they are characterized by general principle work and devices. As a rule, they have several typical operating positions. These are usually the following three points:

  • forward
  • left (with a slope of 30 degrees)
  • to the right (with a slope of 30 degrees)

Working with a blade for a walk-behind tractor

Before starting work, the shovel-blade of the walk-behind tractor is manually turned left and right at an angle of up to 30 degrees. The position adjustment operation is completed by setting the desired angle and securing the blade in the selected position with cotter pins.

The width of the blade for a walk-behind tractor is usually equal to one meter (some models may have a different value) with a bucket metal thickness of 2 to 3 mm. In the factory, dump shovels are made of high quality steel.

Blade for walk-behind tractor device and equipment

Shovels for walk-behind tractors can be equipped with metal knives-attachments, which are convenient for leveling the ground, as well as rubber attachments designed for snow removal.
Since there is a wide selection of modifications of shovel-dumpers, when choosing such an attachment, be sure to make sure that the device can be installed on an existing walk-behind tractor.

Manufacturers do not equip motoblock shovels with spring damping mechanisms, since, due to the low speed of movement, no special protection is required against contact with an uneven ground surface. The walk-behind tractor does not need lifting-and-turning devices, which significantly reduces the total cost of the snow removal kit.

When equipping your walk-behind tractor with snow plow accessories, buy special metal grousers. Replacing pneumatic wheels with such "shoes" significantly improves the quality of snow removal.
Prices for mounted shovels for motoblocks are low and range from 4000 to 6000 rubles.

How to make a do-it-yourself blade for a walk-behind tractor

It is not difficult to make a do-it-yourself blade for a walk-behind tractor if your farm has a grinder, a drill and a welding machine.
Here is one of the simplest options for such a product for owners of walk-behind tractors. You will not have to search for a suitable metal for a long time, since you can use an ordinary two-hundred-liter steel barrel for this.

Carefully cut it into three pieces and you have three curved segments for the shovel. Welding two of them along the contour, we get a product with a metal thickness of three millimeters, which is quite enough to ensure the rigidity of the blade.

The lower part of the blade is reinforced with a knife. To do this, you will need a 5 mm thick steel strip equal to the length of the blade's grip. Holes with a diameter of 5-6 mm are drilled in the knife with a step of 10-12 cm to fix a rubber safety strip.

The design of fastening the blade to the walk-behind tractor is quite simple and can well be implemented in a home workshop. At the same time, a 40x40 mm square pipe is welded to the blade, welded from two barrel segments, approximately in the middle of its height for reinforcement. Then a semicircle of thick steel is welded to the pipe in its middle, in which three holes are made, necessary to fix the angles of rotation of the shovel-blade.

After that, an L-shaped holder is cooked from the same pipe, one end of which is inserted into the hole in the semicircle, and the other is bolted to the frame of the walk-behind tractor. To adjust the lifting height of the shovel, bolts A and B are used. They are screwed into the holes in a piece of square pipe, which is welded to the hitch and put on the L-shaped holder.

Do-it-yourself shovel blade for a walk-behind tractor

The size of our shovel blade for a walk-behind tractor will be 850x220x450mm. The blade itself is made of steel sheet with a thickness of 2-3 mm. The uprights located inside are made of 3-4 mm thick sheet and serve as stiffeners.

Holes are drilled in them in place for attaching the blade to the rods, taking into account the strictly vertical position of the blade in relation to the front of the walk-behind tractor.

  • 1 - dump sheet (tin);
  • 2 - rack 4pcs (stiffeners);
  • 3 - the bottom sheet of the dump (tin);
  • 4 - knife;
  • 5 - rod fastening eye.

The bracket for securing the blade is installed on the legs of the walk-behind tractor, to which the base of the front hinged support of the walk-behind tractor is attached, and the same M10 bolts are used. Rods 520 mm long are fastened to the brackets with M8 bolts with wing nuts, which are attached to the stiffening ribs of the blade.

In the inner stiffening ribs (a stand with a thickness of 3-4 mm), holes are drilled to fasten the blade to the rods so that the blade is located in a vertical position with respect to the walk-behind tractor. The blade is additionally fixed on the walk-behind tractor by means of two adjusting rods: in the idle position, they enable unloading of the brackets. A knife with dimensions of 3x100x850 mm is bolted to the bottom of the blade.

  • 1 - blade;
  • 2 - barbell;
  • 3 - bracket;
  • 4 - thrust.

The bottom of the dump is sheathed with sheet metal to prevent it from being buried in the ground. The width (depth) of the bottom can be made smaller than shown in the drawing. With a blade height of 450mm and a depth of 220mm, it looks more like a bucket.

Taking these recommendations as a basis and experimenting with dimensions will help to make a blade-blade for different motoblocks: Neva, Salute, etc. Then snow removal with a walk-behind tractor will become an easy and pleasant thing for you.
