Description UAZ-469

The development of UAZ began in the second half of the 1950s. The growing army of the Soviet Union, a universal vehicle was required with a wheel formula 4x4, which could be used in any terrain, from the steppes of Kazakhstan to snow-covered Siberia. Car UAZ-469. It was supposed to become a successor of GAZ-69, a military car, which was very similar to American Willis, and his roots proceed from World War II.

The first UAZ-460 prototype was similar to Land Rover, which only began to conquer the wilderness of the former British colonies.

Benefitable, UAZ-469 Army all-terrain vehicle, withstood the tests in the harsh conditions of the Polar region and Central Asia, continues to be operated in various spheres of military and civil, in many countries of the world.

In the 1960s, the XXT was raised the question of the development of a new army cargo-passenger SUV. The first release of the car was carried out in December 1972, they were more, harder and more powerful than the previous model - UAZ-69.

UAZ-469 was created from scratch, the appearance turned out to be original, and the constructive is quite reliable. The developers stood the task to provide a reliable, durable utilitarian car, not focusing on the convenience and ergonomics.

Among such domestic all-wheel drive cars are still popular and the recently updated old woman "Niva" BA3-21213, and her tender rival Chevrolet Niva, and, of course, a long-friendly friend not only residents of Russia, but also many other countries of the UAZ 469 (for some time - UAZ-3151) nicknamed "Kozlik".

With the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, many Moscow enterprises were evacuated to the East. Among them was the Stalin Automobile Plant - ZIS.

In August 1941 in Ulyanovsk, on the bank of the Volga began the construction of assembly shops of ZIS, and by July 1942, the TEM assembly of the ZIS-5 trucks was from 20 to 30 cars per day.

Since 1945, the plant began to collect "half-sided" gas-aa, and then gas-mm, parallel to mastering the production of components and units for these machines. And since 1950, serious work began on the technical training of the automobile plant for the release of a new Army all-wheel drive car GAZ-69 / GAZ-69A, designed and mastered in production at the Gorky Auto Plant. The first serial all-terrain vessels left the UAZ assembly shop in 1956.

It was assumed that the "sixty-ninth" will be issued by the factory at least 15 years, but in the Design Bureau of the UAZ under the leadership of Peter Mumutukin, almost immediately began to develop the Army SUV of the Future.

A new car was assumed to equip a 70-strong upper electoral engine with a working volume of 2.445 liters, three-step gearbox, wheel gearboxes and dependent spring suspension. During the design, preference was given to geometrical parameters that provide cross-magged clearance, wheels of large diameter, as well as significant corners of entry and the congress, but at the same time they sometimes forgot about the flexibility of the engine operation, the optimal pattern of tire tire and traction parameters of the transmission.

The first experimental sample of the new car was demonstrated by representatives of the Ministry of Defense in the fall of 1960. The all-terrain vessel was adopted by the customer, in general, favorably, but the clearance was not recognized as sufficient. The most radical means of its increase became wheeled gearboxes, which allowed to increase the ground clearance from 220 to 300 mm. At the same time it was assumed that civil modifications of the machine would be produced without wheeled gearboxes.

In 1961, the tests of army and civilian variants of the new SUV began, during which all-terrain vessels passed through Central Asia to the Pamirs, then reached the Caspian and along the Volga returned to Ulyanovsk. Next, in accordance with the observations of the test, changes were made to the design of the machines, and only in 1964 the jeeps passed government tests.

Serial production of cars that received UAZ-469 and UAZ-469B indices began only in 1972. Interestingly, in China, where documentation was transferred to the production of this army jeep, Beijing BJ 212 (such a name was the Chinese version of the "469th") began to produce already in 1965. The Chinese SUV differed from the domestic only design of the front of the body.

Ulyanovsk army SUVs in the series were equipped with the same engine as the Light UAZ-452 trucks - it was released at the Ulyanovsk engine factory, and he had little different from the design of the cars of GAZ-21 Volga. By the way, in many nodes, the UAZ-452 truck and Jeep UAZ-469 were unified - among them turned out to be an engine, a four-stepped gearbox with synchronizers on the third and fourth gears, a two-stage dispensing box and a disconnected front axle.

When designing an army version of the jeep, non-standard technical solutions were used - as already mentioned, to increase the road lumen from 220 mm to 300 mm, wheel gearboxes with a gear ratio of 1.94 were used, which made it possible to make a more compact cardinter of the main transfer due to the reduction of its gear ratio with 5.125 to 2.77.

The main customer of the car was the Ministry of Defense, therefore it determined its technical characteristics. In particular, the tarpaulin awning in a set with a winding winding with windy glass made a car suitable for transportation by air - airplanes and helicopters. And it was not interested in anyone that because of this, the car was almost impossible to exploit into the harsh Russian winter. And only few percentages were required of such "flying" Ulyanov "from a considerable serial release of the Ulyanovsky auto plant! For the sake of fairness, it should be noted that the prototype of the all-metal body was created by the factory in 1967, but the cousin-pressing equipment of the UAZ did not allow to mold large bodybar. And for the service and police "UAZ" handicraft duralumin and steel roofs riveted workshops of various enterprises. Interestingly, the Ulyanovsky Avtozavod himself was able to master the production of all-metal cars only in 1993 - in 21 years after launching in the UAZ-469 series!

In addition to Jeeps, the Ulyanovsky Automobile Plant produced a number of civil and army low-tonnage cars of increased passability. Among them were a truck with the onboard platform of the UAZ-451 D and Van UAZ-451, the mass production of which was unfolded in 1961.

Not forgetting Ulyanovsk constructors and about army all-terrains, working out all new, sometimes very interesting options for the 469th. The most original of them was the floating car UAZ-3907. The machine with two rowing screws, equipped with a 77-strong engine, has developed a speed of up to 100 km / h, and on water - up to 9 km / h. The body of the car, which had two hermetic doors, could transport 7 people or 750 kg of cargo. Unfortunately, amphibian was not serially produced - in the plans of the Ministry of Defense, such a universal vehicle was not envisaged.

In 1985, in accordance with the order of the Ministry of the Automobile Industry, a new indexation system manufactured by the plant was introduced on the UAZ. Thus, the Army UAZ-469 with onboard gearboxes turned into a UAZ-3151, and civil UAZ-469B - in UAZ-31512. In accordance with this system, the machine, equipped with new engines and other large units, received additional numbers of indices that turned them into six-seven-wing, resembling phone numbers, which did not make clarity in the essence of the configuration of a particular car model.

UAZ-469B and UAZ-469 are framework cargo-passenger cars with an open four-door body, removable tarpaulin awning and folding back side. UAZ-469 differs from the UAZ-469B, the presence of wheeled gearboxes and shielded electrical equipment.

In recent years, Kozlik has been subjected to numerous modernizations in accordance with civil consumer requests. The fact is that today the Ministry of Defense no longer acts as the main customer and cannot dictate its requirements for the jeep design. In order to buy designers, the designers have created a warm all-metal body with an effective heater, and comfortable seats, and a modern soft suspension on the springs (in front) and small springs (rear), and a fine-mosethele reduction box, and a steering hydraulic switch, and also hid the sticking over the panel The instruments of the engine drive drive ... the creation of all this considerable degree contributed to the development of fundamentally new models of Simbir and Patriot with completely new component units, which eventually moved to the good old 469th.

The model, called the UAZ Hunter (from the English - Hunter), is outwardly different from the "goat", although it has been created on a new platform. To all, the number of imported components has sharply increased in the machine design.

The "hunter" is equipped with new continuous bridges of the "spype" type of its own production, modern scraps like "Birfield" on the front wheels with a twice as large as the previous, new, more convenient in the operation of the box, the level of its noise compared to the classic styling Reduced by 8 - 10 decibell, and the connection of the front axle and the reduced transmission is now produced not two, but one lever. The gearbox has changed - it has become a five-speed. To all, Hunter was equipped with a steering power engine, a clutch of a diaphragm type LUK, front disk brakes and anterior spring suspension.

At first, Hunter was produced with one of two engines - either with a new injector 140-strong 16-valve gasoline working volume of 2.7 liters with exhaust gases, or by the Polish 86-strong Andoria Turbodiesel working volume of 2.4 liters. Well, for the army, the police and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the car is completed with a simpler and unpretentious carburetor motor.

The engine cooling system received a new aluminum rapid efficiency radiator.

Purely externally, the "hunter" differs from the "goat" by more secure plastic bumpers, sliding windows in the side windows (by the way, the car's doors got a double seal) and a rear door. As for the cabin, there are enough differences from the interior of the 469th - more comfortable chairs, fabric covering of doors and a plastic dashboard. UAZ Hunter has already managed to earn a completely friendly assessment and lovers of off-road extreme, and adherents of asphalt tracks. The car behaves perfectly and at speeds, in which the "goat" began to justify his nickname, and in deep roofs with the downstream transmission. And this means that the "hunter" will certainly share with the deserved predecessor - still producing army all-terrain vehicles UAZ-469 - UAZ-3151.
