What is Tesla electric car. How the Tesla electric car works (18 photos). Modern Tesla models in the markets of Russia and Ukraine

Model X has been waiting for a long time. The prototype was shown at the beginning of 2012, and people started ordering a car 2 years ago. And now the first thousand cars left the assembly line. The first buyer from Russia was Alexey, director of the Moscow Tesla Club. He received the 410th car that rolled off the assembly line. I flew to Philadelphia with him to test a new car.

The two most popular questions are:

How much is?

135,000 dollars. After paying all excise taxes, taxes and duties in Russia it will cost $ 200,000, or 16 million rubles.

How long does the battery last?

Maximum 450 km. But this is under ideal conditions. In fact, it turns out from 350 to 400 km.

Now let's take a close look at this miracle!

All photos and interesting details, as usual, are in the post, but this time I also prepared a video review for you:

Thanks to the guys from the studio "Inside Out" for editing the video.

01. This is what Model X looks like. Officially, it is considered a crossover, although it seems to me that it is too small for a crossover. In size, it is very similar to the BMW GT. Elon Musk said in 2012 that when creating X, the task was to combine the functionality of a minivan, the style of an SUV and the characteristics of a sports car.

02. Looks prettier than, but still nothing special. Tesla stands out not for its looks, but for its technology.

The machine exists in two versions:

The 90D model is equipped with two 259-horsepower engines and gains 100 km / h in 5 seconds, which is 0.1 seconds faster than the 440-horsepower Porsche Cayenne GTS SUV.

The P90D version is equipped with two electric motors with a total capacity of 772 horsepower: 259 hp. on the front axle and 503 hp. on the back. From standstill to 100 km / h, this model accelerates in 4 seconds, and with the optional Ludicrous Speed Upgrade package - in 3.4 seconds. This model is faster than the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 or McLaren MP4-12C. The maximum speed is limited to 250 km per hour.

The car is so fast and so unexpectedly easy to accelerate that the slightly tense smile of people, appearing from the sudden overload, has already been nicknamed "Tesla grin" ("Tesla's grin").

We just have P90D, but without an additional package;)

04. Pay attention to the front. If you remember, the S had a black plastic cap in place of the radiator grill. The prototype of the Model X also had a plug, but the production version had it removed. In my opinion, this is a very correct decision. The car began to look much more impressive.

05. It's funny that there is no room in the front for a license plate. This moment was somehow not thought out. In the USA, the numbers must be hung only at the back, the "muzzle" can remain pristine. But Tesla are sold in other countries, including Russia, and we need front plates. In general, I wonder if one day there will be a special modification for Europe and Russia with a place for numbers.

06. Everything is provided at the back. But Musk has planned the expansion of electric vehicles)

07. The Model X has a huge windshield. It continues to the middle of the roof. On the one hand, it is beautiful. On the other hand, it is expensive to change if a pebble hits. Other automakers, for example, Opel or Peugeot, put similar glasses.

08. At the same time, the glass protects against ultraviolet radiation.

09. Most important are the gull-wing doors, which Tesla calls "Falcon Wing doors." Their peculiarity is that they have two points of articulation, i.e. two loops, not one (as opposed to "gullwing"). And the wings of the falcon first rise upward, pressing against the car, and only then open to the sides. This allows them to be opened in fairly narrow spaces.

10. They open automatically. Landing in the back seat with these doors becomes much more comfortable. You can stand up to your full height, you do not have to curl up to climb into the seat. Even with such doors, it is convenient to put children in a child seat: you do not have to bend over, stretching weights into the car with outstretched arms.

11. On the other hand, there are also disadvantages. First, since the doors are automatic, they open slowly, about 5 seconds. That is, you will not be able to quickly jump out of the back seat, nor will you quickly sit down. Secondly, in winter, all the heat is instantly released through fully open doors. Thirdly, there are sensors in the doors, and if another car is nearby, the door will not open. Although they only need 30 centimeters, they do not always have these 30 centimeters in the parking lot. As a spectacular toy, these doors, of course, will bring joy to the owner, but in practice, it seems to me, they are of little use.

Although the presentation showed that the Model X can open doors even when it is almost jammed by cars on both sides.

In addition, it has an ultrasonic sensor that detects the maximum height to which the doors can be opened. This is convenient, for example, in a garage.

12. Headlights

13. Rear

14. As with the S model, great attention is paid to detail.

15. In this configuration there are 22-inch wheels. The standard configuration is 20-inch.

16. Handles. If you remember, in the Model S, the handles were extended when the owner appeared. Then there were many complaints: either in the cold they did not leave, then they generally worked every other time. Despite the fact that all the errors with the handles, in the new car "Tesla" refused to leave the handles. In general, she refused pens. Now these are buttons. That is, you need to click on the chrome plate - and the door will open. Both the rear wing doors and the front doors now open automatically. There is a possible problem here. If your door freezes in winter, then there is an opportunity to pull the handle and still open the door. In the new "Tesla" there is nothing to pull at. So if it's frozen, it means it's frozen. The second problem: if your car stands on a slope, for example, you drive onto a curb with one wheel, then the door will open slightly, but will not swing open. And you have to pry it off with your fingers and open it behind the glass or metal edge. In general, again, a beautiful, effective, but completely impractical solution.

A few more words about the doors. This can be clearly seen in the video. Tesla's front doors now open and close automatically. The car senses when you come up (every other time) and opens the door in front of you. You sit in a chair, press on the brake, and the door closes by itself. Cool? Very. But there is also a nuance here. In the front doors there are only "resistance sensors", that is, object touch sensors. To prevent the door from hitting something every time, the sonar of the rear doors and the autopilot of the car are also used simultaneously, which helps to determine the interference from the side. Thanks to them, the Model X will easily "see", say, a neighboring car, but at first it may not notice a pin. However, the uniqueness of the doors is also in the fact that the accuracy of identifying objects and the algorithm for opening them improves over time. The Tesla service says that in a couple of weeks the doors will "learn" to open more accurately.

Here's how the front door sensors work:

Like the Model S, the X has two trunks, one front and one rear. The rear is normal, nothing special, but the front has become more elongated. You can put a small person in it! Convenient if you have to carry small people in the trunk.

By the way, in the event of an accident, the front part of the body, which, unlike conventional cars, does not have an engine with many rigid parts, is easily wrinkled. The engine will not be squeezed into the passenger compartment as there is no engine. This should save the lives of the driver and passenger.

In general, the Model X is the safest SUV in existence today.

19. Let's take a look at the salon.

20. The first thing that catches your eye is the seat trim. The rear of all seats are now finished in glossy black plastic. It looks incredibly beautiful. Again, I don’t know how practical this is. It seems to me that children will quickly scratch this plastic with their feet, and it will not look so impressive. Also note that the second row seats recline and there is also a third row of two seats! On the third row, however, only children can be accommodated. In this photo, the third row seats are folded to form a flat trunk floor. The model also has a "cargo" mode Cargo Mode, which allows one to automatically fold both rear rows of seats and turn the space behind the driver into a giant trunk.

Plus, the Model X is the first electric vehicle capable of towing a trailer! True, for this you need to order the additional Tow Package option for $ 750.

21. The back has become much more comfortable than in the Model S. Now there is a high ceiling, and the head of even a large man will not rest on anything. In addition, there are now three full-fledged seats in the back, not two. Also, the rear seats have adjustable backrest tilt and can be moved back and forth. The head restraints are not adjustable on either seat.

22. Again, notice how the rear seats are attached. Just a picture from a science fiction movie. On the floor, you can see the rails on which these seats ride back and forth. Unfortunately, the legs are decorated with plastic, not chrome-plated metal. I think they'll get scratched quickly with their feet.

23. Rear passengers now have 2 more USB sockets and cup holders (slide out under the sockets when pressed).

24. If you remember, one of the main drawbacks of the Model S's cabin was the lack of storage space. In fact, apart from the glove compartment, there was nothing in the Model S. Now this error has been fixed. 3 compartments appeared in front at once: one for small things and charging (where the wire lies), another deep, where you can put additional cupholders, and another one under the monitor. There are also pockets in the front doors, which were not there before.

25. Otherwise, the interior is very similar to the Model S.

26. The seats are now more comfortable.

27. The steering wheel is exactly the same.

28. The quality of the interior is perfect. By the way, Musk at the presentation highly praised the air filter installed in the Model X. It protects not only from ordinary smog, but also from bacteria, viruses and allergens, and compared to ordinary cars, the level of protection is hundreds of times higher. The air in this car is as sterile as possible in an urban setting. The Model X even has a Bioweapon Defense mode.

29. Unfortunately, uncomfortable doors have also moved from the Model S to the X. Please note that the passenger has nothing to hold onto. There is no handle, but the armrest is shallow, and the hand rolls off of it. There are no ceiling handles in the car. That is, only the driver can hold onto the wheel. Everything. This is very strange, because Tesla positions itself as a sports car, but what should the passengers do when the driver decided to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 4 seconds and effectively enter the corner?

30. In terms of build quality, if you find fault, you can find small jambs. The seal is not always ideal for doors, there are strange gaps in the area of \ u200b \ u200bthe mirrors.

31. It's time to refuel ... Oh, not there!

32. The computer shows the nearest gas stations. We are interested in red ...

When Tesla was just being developed, it became clear that there was one problem: there is no infrastructure for electric vehicles, there is nowhere to charge them. There are public charging stations, but they are few and far between. Therefore, Tesla decided to make the infrastructure on its own and is now developing a network of powerful Supercharger charging stations with a capacity of 120 kW. In 40 minutes, it fully charges Tesla's battery (that is, it is about 16 times more powerful than public charges). In the future, it is planned that you will change empty batteries for charged ones in 90 seconds.

Another problem is the manufacture of batteries. The current volume is not enough for the mass production of Tesla, and the batteries are expensive. Tesla plans to build a huge factory, the Gigafactory, which will produce more batteries by 2020 than are currently being produced worldwide. This will reduce the cost of the Tesla battery by at least 30%.

But you can also charge from a regular outlet.

Tesla Universal Mobile Connector (charging cable with adapters) is now supplied with the car. There can be three sockets to it:

1. Ordinary household network, then the car is charged 13A / 220V, ie. power of about 2.8 kW;
2. Single-phase blue socket 26A / 220V, ie. 5.7 kW;
3. Three-phase red socket, 3 phases of 16A each and 220V, for a total power of about 11 kW.

If the car is equipped with optional double chargers, then it is possible to charge from the charging station with currents of 3ph, 26A and 220V each, for a total power of 17 kW.

How to calculate charging time? With a battery capacity of 85 kWh, the useful capacity is about 82 kWh. That is, we take this figure and divide by the power of the source - we get the approximate time. Approximate, because the battery has a non-linear charging curve: it charges faster at first and slower at the end. This is due to the peculiarities of LiOn batteries, as well as the fact that at the end the cells are balanced.

33. So, we arrived at the station to recharge. Nearby is the Model S. Notice how much better the car looks without the black plug in place of the radiator grill. What I wrote about at the beginning.

34.

35. We refueled 210 miles in 30 minutes. All Tesla refueling stations are free of charge.

36. Now let's see what is in the computer. It is almost indistinguishable from the Model S. Browser, music, navigation, calendar, phone, and rearview camera.

37. All control - through the central monitor.

38. Detailed setting of the climate.

39. Navigation through Google Maps.

40. The screen can be divided into two parts and include a rear view camera, which is convenient to use instead of mirrors.

41. The dashboard is also customizable. Here you can display navigation, energy consumption information, music control and much more. Same as Model S.

42. The car is all hung with sensors that show obstacles in a circle. Parktronic not only shows the distance to the obstacle with an accuracy of a centimeter, but also draws it. Looks very nice.

43. As with the later Model S, the X has an autopilot. This is a very cool thing. The machine takes over completely. It scans the road, determines where which car is going, determines the lane markings and keeps the lane. All this is possible at speeds over 20 km / h.

44. It's a little scary to drive. We drove 50 km on the track on autopilot. In the city, the autopilot is useful in traffic jams. The car does not know how to stop at traffic lights yet, but it can rebuild in the "semi-automatic" mode: the driver only sets the direction by turning on the turn signal, and the car itself changes the row, taking into account all blind spots and markings. For example, the autopilot will not rebuild through a solid one.

At the same time, the Model X has an active safety system: the autopilot works in conjunction with a number of sensors that see obstacles in 360 degrees and can save the car from collisions even at high speeds. For example, the autopilot is capable of completely stopping Tesla.

45. The autopilot setup menu looks like this. One of its most amazing features is self-learning. Autopilot, when enabled, collects data and sends it to Tesla Motors servers. This information is then taken into account in system updates. With the latest updates, Tesla itself learned to leave the garage (by opening the door first) and park without a person inside. Elon Musk promises that in a couple of years the car will come to you on demand across the entire continent.

46. Opening and closing doors - either with a handle or through a monitor.

47. Machine settings.

48. As in Model S, for each driver, you can create a profile with settings.

49. Applications. You cannot put new ones yet.

50. Setting up the light.

51. Air suspension.

52. Different driving modes.

53.

54.

55. Tesla X came out much better than S. Unfortunately, not all the mistakes of the previous model were eliminated and some new ones were added, but in general the car is very cool. Tesla is very similar to the iPhone. If you fell in love, then you no longer notice the shortcomings and you can not look at anything else.

56. The future. In Elon Musk's humble opinion, the Model X is the best car that ever existed. But he admits that he is not sure if Tesla will ever release a car equally stuffed with technical innovations.

57. You already have 16 million in your hands and are thinking how you can order a new Tesla as soon as possible? Tesla Club sells them in Russia. The first X will arrive in Moscow approximately on April 30th, at the same time there will be a Russian presentation.

Elon Musk is, of course, a genius. He not only knows what will happen in the future, but also gives us the opportunity to touch and buy. I never cease to admire this man.

For many people, Tesla electric cars have become dream cars, as they embody a piece of the future, the electric future of transportation. Therefore, before moving on to mundane and materialistic questions, at what price and how to buy a Tesla electric car in Russia, let's talk about the models of this American manufacturer, besides there are very few of them.

Tesla electric cars

Tesla Motors was the first company to start the serial production of electric vehicles, which are practically not inferior in characteristics to cars with internal combustion engines. While other automakers focused on the production of city cars with a maximum mileage of up to 200 km per charge, Tesla decided to take a completely different path and create an electric car no worse than a gasoline one - it was a kind of challenge.

The first Tesla swallow was the Tesla Roadster, an electric sports car, which was shown to the public on July 19, 2006 in Santa Monica (California). This sports electric car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 4 seconds, and the top speed is forcedly limited to 201.1 km / h.

From the point of view of mileage on one charge, the "first pancake" also did not come out lumpy - 300-400 km (capacity of lithium-ion batteries 53 kWh), depending on weather conditions and driving style, and a full charge of the battery lasts 3.5 hours ( of course when using an express charging station). Tesla stopped accepting applications for the Roadster back in August 2011, when the 2500 Lotus chassis, on the basis of which the sports car was assembled, ended and completely switched to the production of the Model S electric car. The price in the USA for the "Roadster" in the basic configuration started from 109 thousand dollars.

Tesla's second and currently the only mass-produced model is the Model S electric sedan. Its prototype was first shown at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show; deliveries of the car to the United States began in June 2012. In total, by the end of the first quarter of 2014, about 32 thousand Model S electric vehicles were sold worldwide. The car is available in three versions:

  1. 60 kWh battery and 302 hp engine. With. - price $ 69.9 thousand;
  2. 85 kWh battery and 362 hp engine. With. - price $ 79.9 thousand;
  3. version "Perfomance" - 85 kWh battery and 416 hp engine. With. - price $ 93.4 thousand

The last and most expensive option (prices are indicated in the US) drives 425 km without recharging and accelerates to 100 km / h in 4.4 seconds.

Also on the official website of the company you can sign up for the Model X crossover shown in 2012. The start of deliveries of this model to customers is expected only at the beginning of 2015.

Such outstanding characteristics of Tesla electric vehicles made many people in Russia think about buying a Tesla Model S, how to do it, what will be the price of a sports electric car and when it will reach our country. In addition, serial electric cars in Russia are represented so far by only one urban compact - Mitsubishi i-MiEV, which has been officially on sale since 2011.

Do you want to buy a Tesla electric car in Russia?

Officially, "Tesla Model S" cannot be bought in Russia, so there are three possible ways that will lead to the purchase of the desired electric car.

Pre-order on the official website, choosing one of the European countries where there are dealerships. To do this, you need to post a deposit of five thousand dollars. After that, you will receive guarantees that you, having stood in line (from several months to a year), will be able to pick up an electric car from a selected dealership in another country. Of course, a simplified procedure is described here, so the details should be checked with Tesla representatives.

After that, customs clearance of an electric vehicle in Russia is required (note that import duties on electric cars have been canceled since 2014) in order to register it with the traffic police.

Use the services of an intermediary firm that will purchase a car from an official dealership. After that, he will import the electric vehicle to Russia, having completed all the necessary bureaucratic procedures. You will buy a car from an intermediary firm.

This method frees you from unnecessary hassle, but the intermediary will take a commission for his work. So the company "Revolta", which is engaged in the creation of charging infrastructure in Russia, charges 200 thousand rubles for such a service.

Purchase of the used Tesla electric car already in Russia.

It is necessary to pay attention (especially in the latter case) that it is important to purchase the European version of the "Model S" electric vehicle, because:

  • In Russia, the European version is officially guaranteed by Tesla Motors. If the vehicle is exported from the USA, then it is removed from the warranty.
  • The European version of the electric vehicle is compatible with the charging standards adopted in Europe and Russia (household network, single and three-phase industrial sockets of the European standard, AC charging stations operating in Mode 3 mode and equipped with a Type 2 Mennekes connector, express charging complexes of the CHAdeMO standard ").
  • In the European version, all the capabilities of the navigation complex are available, including route planning.
  • European lighting technology.

The price of the Tesla electric car in Russia

We reviewed the prices at which Tesla electric vehicles are sold in Russia using major sites with classifieds for the sale of cars. There are a couple of dozen offers on the market to purchase a Tesla Model S sedan, the price of which ranges from about 2.5 to 8 million rubles (screenshot from one of the sites below). It is important to note that most ads suggest importing an electric vehicle from the United States, which is undesirable for the reasons described above.

What factors influence the price of "Model S":

  • Version. Of course, the most expensive "Perfomance".
  • You need a pre-order or a car already in Russia.

Therefore, the minimum cost will be for a car with 60 kWh batteries and a 302 hp engine. with., which must be waited in line, and the maximum for the electric car in the version of "Perfomance", which is already in Russia.

It will be much more difficult to acquire a Tesla Roadster, since there are only single announcements offering delivery from the USA (the final price after delivery is 3 million rubles).

Tesla Model S is a revolutionary electric car designed to completely destroy the internal combustion engine and instill in humanity the desire to move exclusively in environmentally friendly vehicles. This car was the first to prove that the electric engine has a huge superiority over the gasoline engine, which has already outlived its usefulness and it is time for it to go to the museum. To make it more than just words, let's take a look at the technical specifications of the Tesla Model S electric vehicle and consider all its features.

  • Weight: 2108 kg
  • Length: 4976 mm
  • Width (including side mirrors): 1963 mm
  • Height: 1435 mm
  • Wheelbase: 2959 mm

Battery Tesla model s and its characteristics

This electric car is equipped with a modern lithium-ion battery with a capacity 85 kWh or 60kWh (depends on the configuration) . This battery is enough to cover a distance equal to 426 km and 335 km respectively!!! This figure easily competes with other gasoline cars in the S segment. The battery consists of 16 blocks and is located along the bottom of the car, which additionally increases torsional rigidity and safety. Thus, this arrangement of the battery allows you to reduce the center of gravity of the car to 45 cm.

  • Battery type: lithium-ion
  • Battery capacity: 85/60 kWh *
  • Cruising range to full charge: 426/335 km *
  • Service life: 7 years or 160 thousand km
  • Battery dimensions: Length - 2.1 m, Width - 1.2 m, Height - 15 cm
  • Battery weight: ~ 450 kg

Tesla Model S Battery

It is worth noting that the Tesla Model S battery has an extremely high charge density (similar batteries are used in laptops). The long battery life is achieved due to the modern liquid cooling system, which, by the way, cools the motor itself.

Tesla Model S engine and transmission

The electric vehicle is equipped with an asynchronous three-phase AC motor. The engine is a proprietary development of Tesla Motors and has no analogues. The electric motor is installed on the rear axle of the vehicle. The maximum configuration of the Tesla Model S engine is 416 hp. sec., maximum (constant) torque - 600 Nm. The electric motor is cooled using a liquid cooling system.

Tesla Model S engine

In addition, the modern electric vehicle has a reliable transmission from Mercedes-Benz, which propels the car using a single-stage gearbox (one speed). The gear ratio of the reducer is 9.73.

  • Maximum speed: 209/201/193 km / h *
  • Power: 416/362/302 hp With.
  • Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h: 4.4 / 5.4 / 5.9 sec *

Suspension and chassis

Tesla Model S is simply saturated with modern technologies, and the chassis of the car is no exception. The air suspension is capable of changing the clearance of the car, it is enough to set the desired ground clearance and the car will rise or fall at the request of the owner. Due to the low center of gravity, the car feels confident even with a decent clearance "ala Tiguan".

The steering is rack and pinion and of course has an electric power steering. The on-board computer allows you to set the steering stiffness. There are several levels, ranging from sporty hard and ending with comfortable "Mercedes" soft, very comfortable, don't you agree?

Suspension

Braking system Tesla Model S deserves special attention. The main braking system consists of ventilated disc brakes and an electronic parking brake system. But the main feature of this electric car is the regenerative braking system. With its help, the car is able to brake the engine and convert the received energy into electricity, thereby charging the car battery. This is an extremely useful and handy feature. To activate the regenerative braking system, the driver simply needs to smoothly release the gas pedal and the electric car itself will start to slow down, converting the braking energy into useful energy.

Tesla Model S safety

"5 stars" is the highest safety rating that the Model S has! The best safety record for 2013. The highest rating is achieved due to the design of the body part of the electric car. The absence of a motor and attachments under the hood and in the rear of the car allows the car body to form a solid "capsule", which is complemented by strength properties due to the battery located along the bottom of the car. O .

  • Number of airbags: 8 pieces
  • Additional braking system: ABS
  • Other safety systems: Immobilizer, battery shutdown system in case of an accident, seat belts, etc.

Price

Tesla Model S is available in America and Europe. The cost depends on the selected configuration. Pricing starts at $ 62,400 and ends at $ 85,900 for the Performance trim.

* Depending on the configuration.

You can find out more about another electric car from Tesla Motors in the section.

I want it, but it's expensive! I think these are the first emotions that this novelty evokes on the car market. Seeing once, you immediately understand - this is the car that you immediately want to buy. You look, peer into it and constantly look for some flaw, but the eye has nothing to catch on - everything is perfect. It is about the sensational Tesla electric car not so long ago that we will talk today.

History of appearance

Originally a completely ambitious project, created by "Tony Stark" of our time, whose name is Elon Musk (Elon Musk), has been launched in 2006, after the appearance of their "first-born" electric car Tesla Roadster. Things were going a little slow, and the model itself did not have super-outstanding characteristics. He really gained fame in 2009 with the appearance of the Tesla model S concept. It was she who became the starting point in the rapidly developing career of Tesla Motors and a real breakthrough in the field of electric vehicles. Elon's idea is to completely abandon the usual internal combustion engines and switch to a modern, environmentally friendly electric car of the future, produced by Tesla.

Well, let's face it, the manners are lordly, but as time has shown, they are quite justified. The constant increase in gasoline prices, driven by the slow but steady depletion of the planet's petroleum resources, is forcing millions of car enthusiasts to look for cars that run on alternative fuels. Such cars have been made before, but most of them have a short range, instability, frequent breakdowns and relatively low speed and power. Yes, and these cars themselves look like batteries on wheels, because they do not have enough relics to carry a full-fledged body on duty. =)

Before the start of the release, the company made a very competent step by creating the entire infrastructure, a network of electric stations and services. Only after that, tesla model s went to run in a high-tech conveyor in the state of California, meeting all requests and not differing from the best models in the world in terms of performance.

The lineup

Tesla Model S

What is special about tesla s? At first glance, I want to say WOW! Indeed, the car, thanks to a special painting and polishing, shines like a mirror. The exterior itself is reminiscent of a mixture of Lotus and Aston Martin. The elegantly matched 19-inch alloy wheels lend even more elegance and presence. In general, the car really looks like the car of the future.

Inside the cabin, the first thing that cannot be ignored is the 17-inch touchscreen display instead of all the knobs, knobs and buttons on the center panel. This spectacle looks bewitching, as if it were in a spaceship. At the same time, all elements are intuitive, very conveniently grouped and perfectly visualized. In addition to controlling all the functions of the car, this miracle, which has roots in Silicon Valley, has access to the Internet via 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, its own browser, webcam, built-in navigation system, media functions, phone and a bunch of various modern goodies. An interesting feature is the regulation of the amperage during charging, which protects the battery from excessive force of high current. There are no usual analog arrows and counters on the dashboard. Instead, there is another multifunction display that shows the speed, battery level and other statuses and active events of the car. Well, and definitely worth mentioning is the excellent standard audio system. I will not describe it, I will only say that it is gorgeous!

The salon is very comfortable and spacious. many elements of a conventional car are missing, such as transmission, engine and other little things. =) Large glass roof capable of sliding back, controlled from the central
display and provides an excellent overview. Going to the trunk, you immediately plunge into its huge space. There is another niche under the mat, used for extra luggage or, depending on the equipment, for stowing the extra two child seats installed back to the passenger compartment. Children under 10 years of age can comfortably stay there with their legs dangling into the same compartment under the rug. The rear seats fold forward for even more boot space! A huge safety glass is installed on the trunk lid, which will give your children a great view outward. Another feature is that this door is able to open and close from the inside of the button. In general, the whole car is fully electrified and computerized. Indeed, the Tesla car is truly a smart car. Until he was completely happy, it remained to teach him how to talk and bring slippers to the bed. =)

The door handles are made in an amusing way. They are also electric, like the locks in them.
Having approached, it is worth pressing on it a little and it moves outward, after which you can open the door. Built-in illumination will prevent you from missing at night. After 60 seconds, they slide back automatically. This is done to further improve aerodynamics.

And finally, let's take a look under the hood. We open and lo and behold! There is nothing there =) The truth is not entirely true, because there is another large luggage compartment. Together with the main trunk, you will definitely not have any problems with the transportation of things.

Inside view

The suspension consists of 4 pneumatic struts and this is a plus! A small watermelon-sized motor sits in the back of the base, under the trunk, and to the right of it is an inverter of exactly the same size. All this wealth creates a freaky power of 416 horsepower and torque from 0-100 km / h in 600 Nm! When accelerating, you feel like you are flying on a rocket!

Tesla's floor is made up of thousands of rechargeable batteries, the same as in ordinary laptops, but in a special way packaged. Thanks to this, the frame weighs under half a ton and creates reliable protection for the driver and passengers. Tesla is generally one of the safest cars in the world according to the results of crash tests! And this is surprising, because the structure itself is made of aluminum sheets! In the front part, there is an air conditioner, an electronic control unit and cooling radiators and other elements, of which there are not many.

Charger

Yes, you won't find a gas cap there. The charging port is hidden quite interestingly in the rear light optics.

Charging is carried out from a simple outlet or at a specialized "gas station", which of course are not available in Russia. But the set includes a huge bunch of adapters for different connectors, and therefore if you have a euro socket at hand, it will not be difficult to charge. Well, if the required adapter is not found, then I think the "crazy" Russian pens will save the situation. On average, the model S takes about 4 hours to charge, while at Tesla Motors gas stations it takes only 20 minutes.

Specifications:

Tesla S has 3 configurations, mostly differing in battery capacity and the presence of child seats in the trunk. As for the technical characteristics, everything looks like this:

Selling Tesla in Russia

Alas and Ah, but officially sales are in full swing only in the United States and have recently begun in Europe. Russia is still left out. In future
the company plans to open production in Europe with a budget Tesla Model E. So these benefits of civilization will not reach Russia soon, although one S is already available in Barnaul and is on sale. Of course, you can order from the factory through the official website from the United States, but due to the large number of orders from the company, shipments across the ocean, customs clearance, etc., you will have to wait long enough and the cost will be much more expensive. We do not forget that the guarantee for export from the country where you bought it is immediately canceled.

Tesla prices

This is where a little disappointment awaits you, because the price of this “miracle car” really bites.
For the 60kW model with standard equipment, you will have to fork out $ 60,000
The 85 kW model will already hit your wallet for $ 70,000, and the performance model for $ 80,000!

Agree, not a little, and even considering that these are the prices for the standard equipment and for all the additional benefits they will demand even more from you, then all that remains is to whistle enthusiastically!

Taking into account all the costs, in Russia the price will be on average from 4-5 million and more. Perhaps the situation will change dramatically after the launch of the budget Model E and the development of sales in Europe, but for now the Tesla car will remain available only to wealthy Russians.

Summarize

In general, Tesla, despite the price, leaves the most pleasant impressions, attracting to itself like a magnet. Indeed, there are a myriad of advantages and innovations in it. Probably, this is the first electric car that attracted me so much and that's why I decided to talk about it on our car. In general, we save money and continue to monitor the development of this project, which has every chance to change the world. =)

Ever since I saw a program dedicated to this car a year ago, we can say that it has become my dream. Just think - an electric car that does not need to be fed with gasoline or diesel that is getting more expensive every day, which does not pollute the environment, and which is recognized as the most reliable and environmentally friendly car in the world!
Today, especially for the community, a short story about the Tesla Model S electric car.

When I found out that one of the copies of the legendary electric car appeared in Moscow, I decided to meet its owner and see the car with my own eyes, but it turned out to be in great demand among fans of electric vehicles and environmental movements, so I found it at an event dedicated to environmental protection.

I'll tell you a little about the car: Tesla Model S is a five-door electric car produced by the American company Tesla Motors. The prototype was first shown at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. Car deliveries to the United States began in June 2012. The company calls its car with this body type "fastback", which we know as "hatchback".

Prices for Model S start at $ 62.4 thousand and go up to $ 87.4 thousand (in the US). The most expensive option is a car with a power reserve of almost 425 kilometers, capable of gaining a “hundred” in 4.2 seconds.

At the end of the first quarter of 2013, 4,750 Tesla Model S units were sold in the United States. Thus, the model became the best-selling luxury sedan, ahead of, in particular, Mercedes-Benz S-class and BMW 7-series. A breakthrough occurred in Europe as well. In Norway, in the first two weeks of September 2013, Tesla Model S is the best-selling car (322 units), surpassing Volkswagen Golf (256 units).

Under the hood, there is not everything that we are used to seeing in a car with an internal combustion engine. Here is the trunk instead.

The back is the same. The trunk is quite voluminous, if you wish, you can install child seats here facing the glass.

According to the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the 85 kWh lithium-ion battery lasts 426 km, allowing the Model S to cover the longest distance EV on the market. Initially, Tesla planned to start production of cars with batteries with a capacity of 60 kWh (335 km) and 40 kWh (260 km) in 2013, however, due to low demand, it was decided to abandon the 40 kWh model. The base S model uses a liquid-cooled AC motor that produces 362 horsepower.

At the heart of the car battery (there are 16 blocks) there are about 7 thousand finger-type batteries packed with a special distribution of positive and negative contacts, which is kept secret.

In June 2013, the company demonstrated the ability to recharge the Model S by automatically replacing the battery. During the demonstration, it was shown that the replacement procedure takes approximately 90 seconds, which is more than twice as fast as filling a full tank of a similar gasoline vehicle. According to the president of the company Elon Musk, "slow" (20-30 minutes) charging a Model S battery at the company's gas stations will remain free, while a quick replacement will cost the owner of the car in the amount of about $ 60-80, which roughly corresponds to the cost of a full tank. gasoline.

Let's take a look inside the car. Instead of the usual instruments on the panel, there is an LCD monitor on which all the necessary function buttons and information about the operating state of the car are.

At the moment, the car is charging and instead of the speedometer, information is displayed about how much the electric car is charged and how many kilometers it will run. Instead of a tachometer, the display shows the ammeter data.

The back is quite spacious.

Windows on doors without frames.

On the turn signal - the symbol of Tesla Motors, laconic and beautiful.

Finally, I'll tell you about how the battery of an electric car is charged with the words of its owner. the-bpah

How to charge Tesla? The simple answer is easy and simple.

Basic Mathematics and Basic Electrical Engineering, Grade 8 High School.

Remember that power is expressed in kilowatts and is equal to the current in amperes multiplied by the voltage in volts.
And the capacity of the Tesla battery is either 60 kWh or 85 kWh, depending on the modification.
And we also remember that the standard charger works in the range of 100-240V 50-60Hz. There are no problems with Russian power grids.
The main thing is not to submit three phases :) but an abstract name without a fighter-electrician will not cope with this task, and stupid fighters-electricians in nature are extremely rare, natural selection is all business.

So let's go. A bunch of options.

Option 1. Anytime, anywhere.

Standard power supply unit, ordinary 220V socket.
12 amperes, 220 volts = approximately 2.5 kW.
Full battery charge - one and a half days (indicated for a large battery 85, for a small one we divide the indicated time by one and a half).
It is important to have a working "ground" at the outlet, without it it does not work.
Technical complexity - all charger connectors follow overseas standards.
The solution is either an adapter from an American outlet to a Russian one (Chinese adapters for iPhones are not suitable, they are flimsy PPC, it is simply scary to run 12A on them for a long time), or a banal twist. We hook a cable with a plug cut off from a heated towel rail or microwave to the American connectors. Working.

Option 2. Cheap and cheerful.

Second charger connector. NEMA 14-50 American Power Outlet.
We take an American outlet of the NEMA 14-50 standard (it is important to take care to buy in advance, it is better to have a dozen in reserve at once), we call an electrician soldier. We ask or demand to deliver 50 amperes per phase.
Depending on the degree of motivation and motivation of the electrician fighter and possibly the energy fighter, we get either 25A, or 32A, or 40A.
Next, the electrician puts on the wall a pre-stocked American outlet and plugs it in. Soldiers-electricians are trained in this, switching does not cause problems (zero-ground-phase cling, neutral is not needed). We look for switching circuits in Wikipedia.
The bottom line is that the time for a full charge is reduced to 18/14/11 hours.
Much better, the battery will be charged overnight.

What does the charging process look like for options 1 and 2.
Opened the trunk. He took out the charger. I plugged it in, waited for the green lights to run. I put it in the car, waited until it blinks green. I went to bed. A minute and a half for everything about everything.

Not sure if outdoor installation is possible. Visually, it is not very similar to IP44, in reality - you need to read the specifications. There are definitely options to get out.

Option 3. Wall connector.

The organization process is almost completely similar to option 2.
Differences:
- electricians and soldiers are assigned a combat mission to provide 80 amperes in one phase. Perhaps the fighters will not cope with this task, 80A is a lot. Then you can limit yourself to 40A.
- instead of a NEMA 14-50 socket, a wall charger is hung on the wall.

The charging procedure is greatly simplified. He removed the plug from the wall, stuck it in the car, went to bed. 15 seconds and no wires underfoot.
The time for a full charge (if it is possible to organize 80A) is reduced to 5-6 hours.
Street performance - yes. IP44 protection.
An important point is to make sure when ordering that Tesla can be charged with a current of 80A. If he doesn’t know how, the issue can potentially be solved by replacing the Tesla charging unit.
But it is expensive, it is easier to buy not this but another Tesla, where the unit is standard.

For isolated living quarters, the option of charging from a single-phase diesel engine is also available. There are absolutely no special features; an electrician fighter can easily cope with commutation.

So far, that's all there is.
So far in Russia there are no superchargers (110 kW power, charges in 40 minutes) or battery swap stations (they change the battery to a new charged one in 2 minutes).
All will be. A year or two at most.
There are no technical difficulties, especially in superchargers. The question is exactly when Elon Musk will remember poor Russia. Will remember soon, soon :)

What else should be taken into account.
That the real consumption of electricity, in the mode of street racing (in another way, I do not ride it yet) is 1.5 times higher than the nominal. The reserve, respectively, is not 400 km, but 250-300.
That the real daily mileage of a typical intracellular pad is within 100-150 km. Zamkadyshi travel 150-200 km. Accordingly, every day you need to charge not the whole battery, but half or 2/3. And not 10 hours, but 5-6-7.

It's all. No more features and revelations.
It's just that we put our iPhone, iPad, MacBook and Tesla on charge every evening.
