Many inexperienced drivers do not even suspect what troubles overflow of lubricant threatens to turn out for their car during a scheduled or unscheduled inspection. It would seem that it is bad if the level is some 1 cm higher than the recommended one. We know that oil tends to leak through loose connections and evaporate from the system, so by pouring it with a small margin, we kind of take care of our car for the future. Moreover, it is very convenient that you do not have to pull your hand for the measuring probe for a while.

It turns out that such a situation will have certain consequences for the would-be driver, and the sooner he learns about it, the smaller the damage will be. And now about what risks arise in more detail:

  • As you know, liquids have the ability to expand during heating. If the level is higher than the permissible level, then the gaskets and oil seals are squeezed out under pressure. Weak spots appear, from under which grease begins to ooze. It is not surprising that this leads to a deterioration in the operation of the motor itself and an increased wear of its individual elements;
  • if the lubricant pressure in the system increases to unacceptable values, then it is accompanied by impulse emissions that fill the candles, leading to a decrease in the dynamic qualities of the power unit;
  • if the amount of lubricant in the system even slightly exceeds the norm, this can lead to the fact that the crankshaft will literally sink in it. The oil begins to foam, its homogeneity decreases, the hydraulic lifters and other gas distribution units are airing, accelerating their usual wear;
  • excessive lubrication pressure will quickly lead to the need to replace the oil filter, as well as the pump, which is quite expensive to replace or repair;
  • Experienced auto mechanics also talk about the threat to internal combustion chambers, which arises from the overflow of oil into the system. This is most dangerous for engines with significant mileage, however, and new ones become obsolete from this faster.

How to remove excess oil

Let's start with the most difficult method, but you don't need to have a viewing hole, flyover or lift to implement it. It consists in the forced removal of excess from the system and its components through the oil dipstick tube.

For this, we use the following algorithm of actions:

  1. We screw the lid off the tank.
  2. We lower the integral rubber hose inside (medical dropper).
  3. We take a large 20 cc syringe and put it on the opposite end of the hose.
  4. We begin to draw out the oil using a syringe, pour it into a suitable container prepared for this. It is necessary to take into account, depending on the amount of oil poured, it is necessary to pump out 10, 20, and maybe all 30 syringes.

Other solutions to the problem

In this way, even small amounts of excess grease can be removed. The inconvenience of the algorithm can be attributed to the large time costs. There is another way, for which the car must be in a pit or overpass with a sufficiently cooled engine. We climb under the bottom and find the drain cap on the crankcase. Pre-open the oil filler hole in the cylinder head to create the required pressure.

We substitute a suitable container, and after removing excess working fluid, quickly screw the lid back on. The disadvantage of this technology is that the surplus has to be determined purely intuitively, and usually it is impossible to do without surface contamination. It remains to be verified, which is recommended to be done periodically during operation. To all, without exception, experienced and novice drivers, I advise you to be careful in the process of changing the oil yourself.
