How many liters is the tank of a Toyota Corolla? How many liters of tank does a Toyota Corolla have? Fuel consumption of a Toyota Corolla: what kind of appetite does the car have?

Often, among motorists who own a Toyota Corolla, disputes arise over the exact volume of the fuel tank. This is due, first of all, to the fact that accurate knowledge of the capacity helps to place the correct order at the gas station for refueling “to the top.” This parameter also plays an important role in calculating the remaining mileage when driving on reserve.

Even looking at the instruction manual, many Toyota owners begin to doubt the correctness of the data given in it. Those who for some reason do not have this book begin searching for an answer on online forums. And there are so many opinions and “verified” facts that instead of an accurate result, a person receives rather shaky and amorphous information.

Some say that when fully refueled, the amount of fuel that enters “under the neck” is always slightly less than the capacity of the tank indicated in the instruction manual.
Others claim that if the needle of the level sensor “lay on its side” exactly at zero, then they would sometimes reach the house in clean air.

We present data on the fuel tanks of Toyota Corolla cars by year of production, body type and brand.

Toyota Corolla Sedan

The first model included in the review is the Toyota Corolla Sedan from 1992 to 1996.

If we talk about the disagreements that arise between the owners of these cars regarding the maximum capacity of fuel tanks, then it would not be out of place to mention that with the slightest inclination of the asphalt during refueling, the maximum amount of gasoline will no longer remain constant.

Also, when manufacturers indicate the volume of the tank, they also mean that during any refueling there should be an air cushion above the fuel, protecting it from the occurrence of unpredictable pressures and from obstructing the free flow of fuel from the return pipeline.

The volume of the fuel tank is set by the manufacturer in accordance with certain vehicle parameters. The basis is fuel consumption and average daily mileage. Based on this, you can guess in which direction the tank capacity of new cars will change.

It all started back in 1966, when the first Corolla was born. Since then, this reliable sedan has always met and exceeded what billions of drivers around the world have expected. And here again today you have a completely new Toyota Corolla in front of you.

Toyota Corolla is sometimes called a legend in its eleventh generation. And today it's time to find the legend again. The fashionable Corolla has returned, bolder and more confident than before.

Starting with the alluring front grille and clean body lines that flow smoothly into the powerful rear end of the car.

This superb sedan looks truly elegant and stunning.

Amazing comfort of Toyota Corolla

In the new Toyota Corolla, you will not only have the best design around you. Carefully selected materials and sophisticated trendy elements of modern decor. For example, the instrument panel has glossy black details and blue backlighting that highlight the panel.

The interior of the cabin inspires calm. In addition, this car will offer you the largest legroom in its class, which also includes space for rear passengers.

Modern precision electronics

Every user can discover the completely new Toyota Touch information and entertainment system! It is equipped with a color screen with a sensor and a diagonal of 15.5 cm. Thanks to this system, you can not only listen to radio waves, but also play CDs. It is equipped with a 3.5 mm jack and a USB input for the necessary connection of various devices.

Among other things, you will also be able to connect your phone via Bluetooth.

New exterior

The new Corolla also features an updated exterior design. It is slightly lower in height than the previous model, but its wheelbase is wider. The Keen Look and Under Priory designs have been redesigned, bringing more attention to the car's upper grille.

And all this together made the car look much more prestigious.

Toyota Corolla fuel tank capacity

If you answer the question, how many liters of tank does a Toyota Corolla have, then each driver has the opportunity to choose a model with a 1.33 liter, 1.6 liter and 1.8 liter engine. Regarding the tank itself, drivers disagree here. According to the car's passport, the tank of a Toyota Corolla should hold 55 liters. But in actual use, some drivers claim that they only have 48 liters at the gas station. And there seems to be as much as 7 liters left for reserve.

Moreover, in the latest Toyota Corolla models, the fuel tank volume has been increased to 60 liters.

Models that were released in 1999 and earlier have a fuel tank capacity of only 50 liters. But there are also differences here. Some claim that their tank can only be filled to 46 liters. Of course, there is a reserve position here. There are also opinions written on various forums on automotive topics that if the tank is designed to hold 55 liters, then that’s what it contains.

The difference is only 200-300 grams. In any case, when buying a Toyota Corolla from official representatives, your tank must meet all the standards specified in the vehicle passport.

The development principle of the automotive industry is regular engineering improvement and full satisfaction of consumer requirements. The Japanese concern Toyota has followed this rule for more than one generation of cars. Toyota Corolla in the 150 body is no exception. The technical characteristics of the Toyota Corolla 2008 allowed the car to become a sales leader in the world market. The Toyota Corolla E150 took a strong position. The popular sedan was released in 2006 to mark its fortieth anniversary. In terms of technical equipment, the Corolla in the 150th body was very different from its predecessors.

Restyling Toyota Corolla 150

Engine Toyota 1NR-FE

The 2007 Toyota Corolla has been in great demand since its launch; car enthusiasts prefer this car, which has reliability, safety and a good set of technical characteristics.

Toyota designers and engineers care about car drivers. The car is equipped with everything necessary to ensure that trips at any time of the year remain comfortable and enjoyable.

To perform basic functions, the passenger car was equipped with 4-cylinder engines with low fuel consumption.

In Russia, Corolla E150 cars were officially sold only with gasoline engines and front-wheel drive. Cars with diesel engines were also supplied to Europe.

The 10th generation Toyota Corolla sedan could officially be purchased with three engines:

  • 1.3 l, gasoline 1NR-FE 101 hp, manual transmission, cylinder diameter - 7.25 cm, piston stroke - 8 cm, compression ratio - 11.5 to 1, maximum torque - 132 Nm.;
  • 1.4 l, gasoline 4ZZ-FE 97 horsepower, manual transmission, cylinder diameter - 7.9 cm, piston stroke - 7.1 cm, compression ratio as in the 1.3-liter modification, maximum torque value - 130 Nm. ;
  • 1.6 l, gasoline, 1ZR-FE 124 horses, manual transmission, automatic transmission or robot, cylinder diameter - 8 cm, piston stroke - 7.8 cm, compression ratio - 10.2 to one, maximum torque - 157 Nm.

Moto Corolla

After restyling in 2010, only two engines remained: 1.3 and 1.6 liters. Models with both types of engines show good efficiency: 6-7 liters of consumption per hundred kilometers.

Toyota Corolla 150 gearboxes

In 2010, the Toyota Corolla in the E150 body was modified in terms of some technical characteristics, interior and exterior of the car. Cars with a six-speed manual transmission or 4 automatic transmission were supplied to the Russian market.

Feed Toyota Corolla 150

Some Toyota Corolla models back in 2008 were equipped with a robot transmission. But the work did not suit car enthusiasts. Frequent complaints led to the transfer of the Corolla to an automatic transmission.

The robot was no longer installed on the restyled Corolla E150 models.

The technical characteristics of the automatic Toyota Corolla differed from the manual transmission in 2008, with slightly increased fuel consumption per hundred kilometers.

Suspension

The basic technical characteristics of the 10th generation Corolla are of a high level, including the suspension. The front struts are MacPheron, the rear axle uses a torsion beam. The simple design guarantees comfort, reliability and durability on roads that are not in perfect condition. The technical parameters of the suspension add acceptable maneuverability to the Corolla sedan, as evidenced by numerous positive reviews from car owners.

Toyota Corolla 150 after update

Toyota Corolla cars, released in 2011, stood out from previous generations with a modified body, updated interior and semi-independent suspension. The front is an L-link MacPheron strut, but with an anti-roll bar installed. At the rear there was a beam with a device for absorbing unevenness on the roads. The suspension of this car model is considered the most durable and can withstand more than hundreds of thousands of kilometers without expensive repairs.

The technical characteristics of the 2011 Toyota Corolla, combined with its high ground clearance (150mm), ensure a comfortable ride on bumpy roads.

Tires and wheels

The 2011 Toyota Corolla compact car has three main trim levels: basic (CE), comfortable (LE) and sports (S).

The CE model includes the required standard set of technical features and options. In particular, the tire pressure monitoring system, steel wheels measuring 195/65 R15. Some modifications were equipped with steel alloy wheels 205/55 R16. The sports Corolla was equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels.

What do you think of these wheels for the Corolla 150?

In Europe they installed wheels in sizes R15, 16 and 17. In the American market, the 10th generation Toyota Corolla was sold with 18-inch wheels.

Corolla 150 body

The Toyota Corolla E150 is available only in a sedan body, the technical characteristics of which are slightly different from previous generations of cars. The rigidity of the body was increased, which increased the weight of the car. The weight of the 2008 Toyota Corolla is almost 1.3 tons, taking into account the internal equipment and in various trim levels. Rigidity made it possible to increase the safety of the car, this was facilitated by the use of high-strength steel.

Dimensions of Toyota Corolla 150

The dimensions of the tenth generation sedan were slightly increased in contrast to the previous E120 model: length - 4.54 m, width - 1.76 m, height - 1.47 m. The wheelbase of the Toyota Corolla (2008) is 2.6 m, road clearance (clearance) - 0.15 m. With the increase in the size of the car, the volume of the trunk also increased to 450 liters.

Corolla interior size 150

If necessary, the ground clearance of the Toyota Corolla can be raised using spacers for the shock absorbers. The ride height will increase, but the car will no longer be stable when driving at high speed and will lose maneuverability. You can reduce the ground clearance by replacing the factory shock absorbers with tuning ones. In this case, the car will become more controllable.

Restyling of the Corolla E150 in 2010 made the car the safest for drivers, passengers and pedestrians. This is confirmed by crash tests. The machine is equipped with active and passive safety systems.

Fuel consumption

The fuel tank capacity of the 2008 Toyota Corolla is 55 liters. Most gasoline versions of the car use AI-95 fuel; previous generations also use 92-m.

Swift Toyota Corolla 150

Fuel consumption (in liters) of 3 variations of Corolla E150 for different types of driving (country/urban/mixed) per hundred kilometers:

  • 1NR-FE 1.3l: 4.9/7.3/5.8;
  • 4ZZ-FE 1.4l: 5.7/8.6/6.7;
  • 1ZR-FE 1.6l: 5.8/8.9/6.9;
  • 2ZR-FE 1.8: 6/9.3/7.2.

Diesel cars consume 4.4 liters, 7 liters and 5.3 liters respectively. These parameters are typical for a Corolla with a manual transmission. Automatic machines in such modes consume more, which indicates the efficiency of modifications with a diesel unit.

Corolla 150 may look epic)

For comparison, the 2007 Toyota Corolla consumes 9.9 liters of gasoline per 100 km in the city and 6.5 liters on the highway.

Dynamics

Toyota Corolla cars released in 2010 demonstrate high quality, like previous generations. But they differ in new technical characteristics: modern design, comfortable interior and excellent dynamics.

Any car owner should know the exact capacity of the fuel tank of his car. This parameter allows you to quickly and accurately place an order, how many liters to pour at gas stations and plan the vehicle’s mileage. In many cars with electronic injection, the fuel system is operated by a pump located directly in the gas tank. The tank of such cars is located horizontally and has a large area with a low height.

Capacity volume and amount of fuel

Many car enthusiasts do not know that the volume of the gas tank declared by the car manufacturer does not correspond to the amount of gasoline that can be poured to run the engine.

There is a so-called minimum reserve of fuel, which always remains in the Toyota Corolla tank and does not enter the fuel system. Usually this is about 5–7 liters.

This amount of fuel takes up about one centimeter of the height of the tank and cannot be pumped normally by the fuel pump. Thus, a maximum of 50 liters will be poured into the Toyota Corolla gas tank, which naturally provokes doubts about the declared capacity.

Another factor influencing the amount of fuel that can be filled into the tank is the need for a strictly horizontal position of the car. Any deviation reduces the maximum volume, since an air plug appears at the top of the container.

Fuel tank volume

The Toyota Corolla E150 is no exception. For 150 series cars produced in 2006, 2007 or 2008, the manufacturer installed a fuel tank into which you can fill 55 liters of unleaded gasoline with an octane number of 92–95. The same tank is found on the 120 series, which belongs to the previous generation. Gas tanks with a smaller volume were installed only on early releases of the Toyota Corolla. The Toyota Corolla's tank volume may be larger (up to 60 liters), but this only applies to some station wagons with high-power engines, for example, the Toyota Corolla Spasio, which was discontinued in 2006.

What kind of gasoline to fill

As practice shows, the engines used in Toyota Corolla, including those with a volume of 1.4 liters, are highly reliable and unpretentious. Without any consequences, they allow the use of AI 92 gasoline, as recommended by the Corolla passport.

One of the mandatory conditions is to use exclusively unleaded gasoline, since refueling with anti-knock additives greatly reduces the service life of the catalytic converter.

The 1.4 liter engine is one of the most economical in the Toyota Corolla family, so the 92 octane gasoline used is quite profitable from an economic point of view.

What should be the minimum fuel tank capacity of a new car?

In order not to reduce the usable capacity of the car body, automakers calculate the average mileage of a car at one gas station and, based on this data, determine the minimum volume of the gas tank. Thus, the more economical the engine, the less fuel needs to be poured for the same mileage, and, conversely, with equal capacities, the mileage of a car with, for example, a 1.4 liter engine will be greater than with a 1.8 liter engine.

Conclusion

The fuel system of a car contains not only an important nutrient for the engine, but also another undocumented function. If it is necessary to paint a car, to accurately select the color tone, it is enough to remove the gas tank flap and select the paint using it.
