Every summer, residents of St. Petersburg open the picnic season on 25 official and ten more “folk” beaches. Rospotrebnadzor does not recommend swimming in any of them, however, this does not stop the most fearless: bathers can be seen in the Gulf of Finland, and in the Sestroretsky Razliv, and in the Neva. In anticipation of the heat, the editors of The Village went around 13 beaches and found out where you can play volleyball and fry barbecue, ride a boat and sunbathe naked.

Beach in the village of Komarovo
One of the oldest beaches on the north coast. There are two landscape zones: sandy and rocky. Rospotrebnadzor does not allow swimming here: the water in the Gulf of Finland cannot be called clean, and besides, it begins to bloom somewhere in July. Any entertainment - volleyball, frisbee, etc. - will have to be organized by yourself. The beach line stretches along the highway, so truckers and tourists passing by often drop in here. Some residents of the city stay here for the whole weekend - they pitch tents, fry shish kebabs, play in the fresh air.

High Drive Beach
Another beach in the village of Komarovo. Visitors are honestly warned not to swim here: the water is too dirty. However, unlike other Komarovo beaches, there is an infrastructure for active recreation: two volleyball courts, a streetball field, beach football, table tennis and more. There are concerts and discos, but unfortunately it is quite difficult to track their schedule online: the VKontakte group has not been updated since 2012.

Beach on the pike lake
It is better to get to the unofficial but popular beach four kilometers from the village of Komarovo by car or bicycle. According to reviews, the water in the lake is quite clean - however, it is difficult to meet a pike here these days (which does not prevent fishermen from sitting here daily with fishing rods). In 2011, the Pike Lake reserve was officially opened here.

The beach at the Repino sanatorium fell into disrepair in the post-Soviet period. You can’t swim here: it’s dirty (and the water in the Gulf of Finland is quite cold), but you can wander through a wide forest strip. There are shops and cafes only near the highway and at the railway station, so it is better to stock up on food and drinks in advance. There is a volleyball court, but you will have to bring equipment with you - rent is not provided.

Beach "Laskovy"
One of the most comfortable beaches on the bay. Athletes come here to relax - from kite surfers to volleyball players, families with children and large companies. On Saturdays, there is a beach volleyball school, and on July 4–6, a festival dedicated to this sport will be held. Formally, you can’t swim here, but in fact everyone turns a blind eye to this ban.

The Dune Nudist Beach has existed since at least the 1960s, but it has not received official status over the years. The infrastructure is not developed: you can leave the car either in a clearing by the river or at the Dunes boarding house, and for a shower you will have to go to neighboring beaches. And yet, on good days, up to 500 skinny tanners gather here.

Dubkovsky beach
One of the cleanest beaches in the Gulf of Finland is located near Sestroretsk, not far from the Dubki park. This place is fenced off from other coastal territories by a strip of forest. Of the minuses: quite a lot of mosquitoes, and from July the water usually blooms.

Beaches on Lake Razliv
Officially, there are five beaches on Sestroretsky Razliv Lake: Northern, Novy, Zelenaya Gora, Belaya Gora and Officersky. Tourists are usually advised the last three as the most comfortable. Unfortunately, Rospotrebnadzor does not recommend swimming here either. Nevertheless, Razliv attracts vacationers like a magnet: many believe that the water here is cleaner than in the Gulf of Finland. In the surroundings - cool coniferous forests, where you can hide from the heat.

The beach of the Peter and Paul Fortress
The beach is not exactly suitable for relaxation (there are no sunbeds or awnings) - but in good weather hundreds of people gather here: the city center, all the beauties are in full view. Swimming in the Neva is strongly discouraged due to harmful effluents. True, until June 26, the beach was closed due to preparations for the holiday of Scarlet Sails graduates.

The beach is called "Green" due to the fact that its entire territory is covered with grass. You can’t swim here either, but this rule is usually neglected, despite the rather strong current. But here you can play beach volleyball: a separate playground is equipped on the territory.

A spacious sandy beach overlooking the Gulf of Finland and the Primorsky district is a sought-after summer vacation spot for citizens who do not have time to travel to the suburbs. It can be quite dirty here, sometimes empty bottles of alcohol are lying around, but despite this, there are always a lot of people. Swimming is prohibited: the water is cloudy and cold. But you can always meet brave people who disregard the ban. Keep in mind that there is a sand sculpture festival here until September 3rd.

A few years ago, this reservoir was the only one in which Rospotrebnadzor allowed swimming. Everything changed in 2014: Nameless was recognized as inappropriate for sanitary standards. In addition, experts found the improvement of the beach unsatisfactory. Locals usually do not swim here, but dogs can often be seen in the lake: for some reason, pets have chosen the reservoir for water procedures.

A rather dirty, but invariably crowded beach is located across the highway from the Ozerki metro station. Due to frequent picnics, there are always mountains of garbage - bags and bottles. There are several more beaches on the shores of the Middle and Lower lakes, but in any case, you can’t swim in any of them.

Suitable for sunbathing banks of the Neva in the villages of Sverdlov and Morozov in the Vsevolozhsky district, as well as near the cities of Shlisselburg, Otradnoye, Kirovsk and the village of Pavlovo in the Kirov district. The shores of quarries in the same Pavlovo, in the village of Keskolovo and the village of Staraya Maluksa are suitable for sunbathing.
You can swim, but sanitary conditions do not allow sunbathing in the Gulf of Finland near the village of Vybie, Kingiseppsky District, in Lake Dontso and the Luga River near the village of Bolshoy Sabsk in the Volosovsky District, in the Kushelka River in Slantsy, in the Pavlovskoye and Loshevo Lakes of the Boksitogorsky District, in the lakes of Omchino and Toloni of the Luzhsky District, Dolgoe and Nesterovskoye, and also in quarry No. 4 of the Tosnensky district, lakes Filkino and Beloe in Gatchina and in the Oredezh River near the village of Vyritsa.
