PNRPU is actively developing the export of educational services - more than 100 foreign citizens from Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Africa are studying at the university. Every year, up to 50 leading scientists from foreign universities and research centers in Russia and foreign countries come to the university to conduct master classes and give lectures.

The university attaches great importance to extracurricular activities. Students actively participate in cultural work - they study in the choreographic ensemble "Solar Rainbow", folklore and ethnographic studio "Radolnitsa", intellectual club, student choir, etc. Students annually become winners of regional, all-Russian and international festivals and competitions.

History of University

Founded in 1960 as the Perm Polytechnic Institute (PPI), as a result of the merger of the Perm Mining Institute (organized in 1953) with the Evening Mechanical Engineering Institute.

In 1992, PPI was among the first polytechnic universities in Russia to receive the status of a technical university.

Since 1996, the university has been implementing multi-level training in higher professional education programs; in 1998, the first graduates graduated in the areas of “Metallurgy,” “Applied Mechanics,” and “Environmental Protection.”

In 2009, it was one of 12 Russian universities that received the status of “national research university.” The following priority areas of development within the research university program were identified: aircraft engine building and gas turbine technologies, extraction and processing of oil, gas and minerals, nanoindustry and urban studies.

In 2011, it was renamed Perm National Research Polytechnic University (abbreviated as PNIPU).
