Engine and transmission oils for Kia Ceed. Kia Ceed engine oil for the Kia Sid engine what kind of oil to fill in the engine

The production of the Kia Sid lineup began in 2006. In the fall of 2006, a middle-class car was first shown at an exhibition in Paris, after which its mass production began. For 11 years, the model has undergone several updates and is now being produced in the second generation. Ceed replaced the outdated Cerato and was originally designed to conquer the European golf market. The novelty quickly became on a par with competitors - Volkswagen Golf, Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla.

In the first generation, the model was equipped with gasoline and diesel engines of different power. The first consisted of units with a working volume of 1.4, 1.6 and 2.0 liters (90/110, 122/126 and 143 hp). Diesel modifications included 1.6 and 2.0 liter turbodiesel units (90-140 hp). The listed engines worked either with a manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission. Information on oil consumption and which oil to pour is shown below. As for gas mileage, about 6 liters of fuel are required per 100 kilometers in the combined cycle of the Kia Ceed. In 2009, the model underwent a cosmetic restyling, during which the car received a new appearance, emphasizing the corporate style, and a redesigned interior.

The second generation debuted in 2012 and the Kia Sid underwent external changes again. Now the car has a pronounced sporty style. The engines have become a little more economical, and the car itself is more stable on the road. Russian deliveries included a 1.6-liter version with a 129 hp engine. The atmospheric installation was paired with a 6-speed MT or AT. In terms of dynamics: the first 100 km / h was achieved in 10.5 seconds on the mechanics and 11.5 on the machine. In 2013, a more charged version with 204 hp became available, delivering the first hundred in just 7.6 seconds. Fuel consumption for such a LED is up to 7.8 liters in the combined cycle.

Kia Ceed is one of the most popular hatchbacks in Russia. The machine is in high demand due to its quality and reliability. The machine is easy to maintain, but only if you follow the manufacturer's advice - for example, fill in only the recommended engine oil. In this article, we will consider the types and classes of engine oils for the Kia Rio, and also name the best manufacturers of lubricants.

Nuances of choice

Recommended engine oil parameters are usually listed in the Kia Ceed owner's manual. In this case, in addition to the parameters, the manufacturer also indicates the seasonality of the fluids - for example, some oils are suitable for the summer season, while others can be used regardless of the season and climate. Each type of lubricant has its own characteristics and a specific chemical base.

When choosing one or another oil, first of all, one should pay attention not to the brand, but to the basic basis and support of the ambient temperatures in which the Kia Ceed will be operated. So, for too hot regions, excessive loads and an active driving style, synthetic or semi-synthetic oil is ideal. For older, worn out, high-mileage motors, mineral oil is preferable.
You should also take into account the presence of a tolerance. The tolerance allows you to determine how high quality and useful oil will be for a particular car brand.

Consider the choice of oil separately for each generation of Kia Ceed

The car of the C segment according to the European classification Kia Ceed was introduced in 2006. The model was intended for the European market and is produced in Slovakia. In 2012, the updated Ceed began to be produced with a redesigned and richer equipment. The car has versions of a 3- and 5-door hatchback and station wagon and is equipped with 1.4, 1.6 or 2 liter petrol engines or 1.6 and 2 liter diesel engines, a manual or automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. Since 2013, a sports version of the Ceed GT has also been produced with a 1.6 turbo engine producing 204 hp. Due to the low cost for its class, the model has gained great popularity in Russia. What kind of oil to fill in the Kia Ceed engine depends on its type.

TOTAL QUARTZ 9000 HKS G-310 5W30 and TOTAL QUARTZ 9000 ENERGY 5W40

For Kia Ceed with gasoline engines, TOTAL QUARTZ 9000 HKS G-310 5W30 and TOTAL QUARTZ 9000 ENERGY 5W40 engine oils are recommended. TOTAL QUARTZ 9000 HKS G-310 5W30 oil was specially developed for Hyundai and Kia vehicles and is used in many models at the first fill. This engine oil for Kia Ceed has high anti-wear and cleaning properties that guarantee engine protection in all driving conditions and extend its service life. Its high oxidative stability makes it possible to extend the oil change intervals within the limits recommended by the manufacturer (up to 30,000 km, depending on operating conditions).

The TOTAL QUARTZ 9000 ENERGY 5W40 engine oil is universal and can be used in Kia Ceed cars with gasoline engines and diesel engines without a particulate filter. This oil protects the engine from wear and harmful deposits, even in the most severe operating conditions, including sports, city driving with frequent stops and cold starts. It meets international standards API SN / CF and ACEA A3 / B4 and can be used with extended oil drain intervals in both Kia Ceed generations.

TOTAL QUARTZ INEO MC3 5W-30

TOTAL QUARTZ INEO MC3 5W-30 engine oil belongs to the Low SAPS category with a reduced content of phosphorus, sulfur and sulphated ash, and can be used as an oil for Kia Ceed equipped with a diesel engine with a particulate filter (DPF). This oil provides a high degree of protection against wear of the engine and exhaust cleaning systems, which guarantees their reliable operation for a long time.

Transmission oil for Kia Ceed

For Kia Ceed vehicles with 5- and 6-speed manual transmissions, TOTAL recommends TOTAL TRANSMISSION DUAL 9 FE 75W90 transmission oil. This oil reliably protects the gearbox from wear and corrosion, and, thanks to the FUEL ECONOMY (FE) technology, provides a lower fuel consumption compared to conventional lubricants.

The choice of oil for automatic transmission Kia Ceed depends on the year of manufacture of the car. On cars of the first generation (2006-2012) a 4-speed gearbox was installed, for which TOTAL FLUIDE XLD FE fluid is suitable. Cars of the second generation (since 2012) have a more modern 6-speed automatic transmission, in which it is recommended to use TOTAL FLUIDMATIC MV LV oil. These transmission oils guarantee smooth shifting and wear protection of the machine and ensure long and reliable operation of the transmission.

In order to choose which oil to pour into the Kia Sid engine, you need to understand its main characteristics, markings, brands, type and some more points. If you take into account the most important of them and not be mistaken with the choice of the manufacturer, you can choose the ideal fluid that will effectively protect engine parts from wear for a long time, under different conditions of use with minimal consumption. To find out the main characteristics of LED oil, you can refer to the operation manual, however, there is little information about the types of fluid and its manufacturers, so the choice is limited to one or two brands. To choose from a wide range of car dealerships, you need to know a little more.

Viscosity grade and volume

The viscosity grade determines the ability of an engine oil to maintain the required lubricating properties under different temperature conditions. Fuel consumption and its operation in the cold season depend on the viscosity of the oil, which especially affects the start of the engine and its warming up. At low temperatures, it is better to use a liquid with a low viscosity index, this has a positive effect on the economy of the car and the protection of the working surfaces of the engine from wear. For high ambient temperatures in hot weather, it is better to choose an oil with a high viscosity.

In modern automotive engine oils, the SAE coefficient is used to indicate viscosity. It is usually indicated on canisters as one of the main markings. Consists of two numbers separated by the letter W and the sign “-“. Both of these are viscosity ratios under different conditions. The first designates the temperature at which oil can be pumped through the system and cause the engine to crank when starting. The second shows the viscosity when the motor is heated to operating temperature.

SAE Temperature Range Table

In Kia Sid vehicles, it is recommended to use engine oil with a viscosity of SAE 5W-30 or 5W-40. This coefficient ensures optimal engine operation in a wide temperature range from -30 to 50 degrees. It is this marking that Kia recommends for its cars in European countries, regardless of the type of engine, its volume and the presence of a turbocharger.

The volume of the engine Kia Sid depends on the modification of the power unit and is:

  • 3.6 liters for petrol engines 1.4 MPI, 1.6 MPI, 1.6 GDI;
  • 4.5 liters for 1.6 petrol engines with a T-GDI turbine;
  • 5.3 l. for diesel engines.

Resource

One of the important indicators of the quality of engine oil is its resource, that is, how long it can work without losing its characteristics. Most auto manufacturers recommend changing this fluid approximately every 15-20 thousand kilometers. However, oil manufacturers often claim that their products can walk several tens of thousands of kilometers without replacement and, at the same time, normally protect the engine from wear. Which of them exaggerates, and who is reinsured? The fact is that none of them can know exactly how much oil is capable of going away in your car, due to the fact that its resource strongly depends on the conditions in which the car is used. The car owner himself must monitor the condition of the engine oil and determine the need to replace it. If this is problematic, it is best to follow the replacement intervals recommended by the machine manufacturer.

The following factors affect the condition and life of the engine oil:

  • Vehicle operating conditions, the presence of so-called harsh conditions (traffic jams, dust, cold season, transportation of goods, and so on);
  • The age of the vehicle and its engine;
  • Fuel quality;
  • The quality and technology of the oil change procedure.

For MPI LED engines, when using 5W-20, 5W-30 oil under normal conditions, Kia recommends a replacement interval of 15,000 km or 12 months. For GDI - 10,000 km or 6 months. In severe operating conditions, and these include most conditions in large cities and other areas of Russia, the interval is recommended to be reduced to 7,500 km and 6 months for MPI and 5,000 km or 6 months for GDI.

Working fluid type

At the moment, several types of motor oil can be used in automobile engines, differing in the type of production:

  1. Mineral;
  2. Semi-synthetic;
  3. Synthetic.

Mineral oil is obtained by distilling crude oil and then enriched with special additives to improve performance. This type of oil has been used for a long time and has a number of advantages, despite the fact that now it is being replaced by other types, mainly synthetics.

Manufacturers often fill new cars with mineral oil, which can be used by the car during the entire break-in process. Some Kia models can be sold in salons with mineral water in the engine. This is due to its low price and the absence of the need for long-term use (the first maintenance with replacement by about 5,000 km). In some countries, car manufacturers recommend mineral engine oil for use as an original. This is also due to the fact that it is considered more environmentally friendly than synthetics.

Semi-synthetic motor oils are obtained by adding synthetic additives to mineral additives or mixing them with synthetics. Such types of liquids are poorly distributed, there are also few of them on sale due to displacement by the synthetic type.

Now in Russia, mainly synthetic motor oils are sold, they are also used for replacement. Such fluids are produced chemically, in which it is possible to obtain a composition that meets modern specifications and has the best characteristics.

Compared to other types of oils, synthetic oils have a number of advantages:

  • Compliance with higher requirements and complex technical conditions, which makes it possible to develop a lubricant for a specific engine modification, taking into account its features;
  • Better resistance to wear on working surfaces;
  • Fracture resistance and toughness stability at high and low temperatures;
  • Ability to work in forced engines with high crankshaft and turbine rotation speeds;
  • Low oil consumption;
  • Increased replacement frequency;
  • Reduced fuel consumption.

The disadvantages of synthetics include a relatively high price and a more complex recycling process.

Why do you need oil in the power unit of a KIA LED car? What role does it play?

Advanced motorists know for sure that there is oil in the power unit of a car. It needs to be changed periodically! What for? The fact is that the oil poured into the unit carries a number of important functions due to its special properties. After a certain period of time, its characteristics come to naught, deteriorate. So it's time to replace it.

So what are the functional tasks assigned to engine oil?

  • Powertrain overheating protection
  • Protection of the engine against wear, corrosion
  • Reduced friction
  • Removal of small particles of wear products of the power unit, including combustion products

Classification of oils

Today the car market is simply "teeming" with various fuels and lubricants, including motor oils. How to understand the intricacies of labeling? How to translate it into simple human language? Knowledge of the classification allows you to accurately select the right "blood" for the "heart" of the car!

All oils are divided into three categories (3 types)

  • Synthetics
  • Semisynthetics
  • Mineral oils

Lubricants will be subdivided by the type of power unit

  • For engines running on gasoline
  • Units consuming diesel
  • Separately, there are oils that are poured into turbocharged engines.

Viscosity

These are viscosity-temperature characteristics. Simply put, these are the set parameters for high-quality engine operation. Determination of the viscosity of many motorists is in a stupor. This value mostly influences the choice of oil. It is recommended to buy exactly the oil specified by the manufacturer. As a last resort, consultations at the service station will not hurt.

Price

Not unimportant, sometimes the decisive factor when choosing an oil. The buyer has three options:

  • Buy oil on the market.

The savings are substantial. In proportion, there is a risk of buying a fake! It's up to you to decide what is more important to you. Short-term savings, or maybe you have extra money for unscheduled engine repairs?

  • Buy at the service station.

Expensive. Big cheats. On the other hand, the risk that you will be "snatched" by a fake is reduced!

  • As an intermediate option (many motorists are inclined to it) - purchase in specialized stores. And the price is lower than at a service station, and the probability of purchasing a fake is much lower than at a car market!

What to fill in KIA LED and how much?

Which oil for the Kia Sid engine is suitable? What exactly to fill in your favorite car is up to you. Do not forget to look in the service book before that! It says which oil is RECOMMENDED! It is also said about the EXCELLENCE of such a replacement (after how many kilometers traveled to change).

For cars manufactured before 2008, 5w30 synthetics are suitable. Filling volume - 3 liters. Cars produced after 2009 will require 5.9 liters when replaced. All the same synthetics 5w30.

Description of 5w30 oil

GM Super Synthetic Longlife 5W-30- high quality synthetic motor oil, used for power units. Feature: all-season. It is recommended to use:

In engines running on gasoline and diesel power units.

It is a long life oil. Good viscosity allows the power unit to operate stably at elevated temperatures. Protects the unit from precipitation, premature wear, oxidation of rubbing surfaces. Contains the power unit in perfect condition (cleanliness), including at high temperatures.

Cold starts (start-up of the unit) are easy, without interruptions due to the low viscosity of the oil. Increases the efficiency of the catalytic converter, reducing harmful emissions into the atmosphere. Taking care of the environment is a must for milestones.

Change the oil on time! Take care of the "heart of the car"!

If you “due to your forgetfulness” could not carry out the oil change on time, and the “lag” from the planned replacement does not exceed 1-2 thousand km of the car's mileage, there is nothing to worry about. The situation is much worse if the lag schedule is around 5000 km! Such "forgetfulness" can lead to undesirable serious consequences.

Here is a table (as an example), with the help of which it is easier to select oils for an engine based on viscosity for operation in various temperature conditions. It all depends on the temperature of the region where the KIA SID car is operated.

How to change oil and oil filter in KIA ceed engine? We will look at this issue another time. I would like to say that when working with any oils, you need to follow basic safety rules. After all, fuels and lubricants are at increased risk. In the article on changing the oil and oil filter on a KIA SID car, we will dwell on the issue of safety in more detail. Let's talk about: changing the oil on your own “for free” or entrusting such work to the workshop specialists for “your hard-earned money”. We will tell you in detail how to change the oil yourself.

We wish your engine quiet operation and many years to the heart of your car. Take care of it. Do not lead to a car heart attack.
