History and design

The model began to be produced in 1995, it existed before, but under a different name. The car has come a long way since 1984 before becoming a Nexia.

In 1996, the production of this series of cars was opened in Rostov, but in Russia the production could not hold out for more than two years, since the Uzbek manufacturer of the Korean car was more competitive. To this day, the model came to Russia from Uzbekistan.

Specifications

The first engines had a capacity of 75 horsepower, after the restyling of 2002 the engines changed fundamentally, 8 and 16-valve gasoline units were installed on the cars. The operating system of the 16-valve engine has been upgraded, and the power has increased to 85 horsepower. Both engines have the same volume of 1.5 liters.

The second generation engines have improved significantly and received other characteristics, they are still of two types:

  1. The first Daewoo Nexia engine will be known to people who bought Lanos with this engine, this is a 1.5-liter unit producing 80 horsepower. The unit is called A15SMS, and maximum power is reached at 5600 rpm. This motor has an electronic control unit, which allows the use of gasoline with any amount of octane, of course, within reasonable limits. This will delight people who buy this car for themselves as a budget option, and still want to save money, this is normal. The unit also has a gasoline injection distribution system.

    This is an 8-valve engine that is driven by a single camshaft. In terms of dynamics, the unit allows you to dial the first hundred in 12.5 seconds, and the maximum speed is located at around 175 km / h. The motor consumes 8 liters in the city, which is not a lot and a lot, but on the highway it will need 1 liter less, which is a little upsetting.

  2. The second motor is called F16D3, which has already been borrowed from Lacetti. The volume is increased to 1.6 liters, and the power is increased to 109 forces. Maximum power is reached at higher revs, i.e. 5800 rpm. This is a 16-valve engine and, unlike the previous one, it has 2 overhead camshafts. This unit is slightly better in terms of dynamics, the indicators are as follows - 11 to hundreds and 183 km / h of maximum speed. The consumption is more per liter, regardless of whether it is a city or not.

The units are paired only with a 5-speed manual transmission and have only front-wheel drive.

Daewoo Nexia interior


The interior is very simple yet spacious. It does not have any high-tech functions, but the cost of the car corresponds to its "stuffing".

The interior itself has been improved thanks to restyling. The manufacturer understood what the problem was and corrected it, namely, improved the quality of the plastic, reduced the gaps, improved the quality of the fastening of the trim and added sound insulation in the door.

Nevertheless, depending on the configuration, Daewoo Nexia may contain:

  • Air conditioning;
  • Audio system with four speakers;
  • Power steering;
  • Tachometer;
  • Electric glass lifters;
  • The gas tank and trunk can be opened without leaving the passenger compartment.

The trunk is very spacious, but its volume cannot be adjusted using the rear seats. So in the standard it is more than 500 liters, and after folding the seats, it more than doubles.

The second generation is presented in three trim levels: Lowcost, Standard and Lux. They are distinguished by a set of options that have hardly changed since the previous model. However, it became possible to install a central locking system.

The appearance of the dashboard remains the same. It is simple and straightforward.

The car has independent front suspension and semi-independent rear.


Nexia is an excellent Economy class car, it confidently competes with the domestic auto industry, as can be seen from the frequency of these cars in the Russian markets.

Daewoo Nexia is a popular car and, to some extent, legendary for a Russian motorist. And the point is just the price, and the fact that for relatively little money you can buy a car, the characteristics of which are not too inferior to an average foreign car. However, not the highest price also makes itself felt, first of all, expressed in the "stuffing" and reliability of some of the details. Weaknesses Daewoo Nexia:

Perhaps one of the main drawbacks of Daewoo Nexia is that it does not live up to expectations. The car looks very solid, which captivates inexperienced owners, and in the future they are simply disappointed. After all, they expect some kind of premium car, but in reality it turns out only a good foreign car of the last decade.

Metal quality

One of the weakest points of Daewoo Nexia is the quality of the metal, which should definitely be better. For this reason, even a new car should be carefully treated with various compounds that are designed to help fight corrosion. This is especially true in large cities, where roads are sprinkled with various harmful compounds.

You should also monitor various electrical appliances. In these cars, the rapid wear of wires is very strongly developed, and they withstand various external influences very poorly. Even components such as, for example, the ignition lock, can fail precisely due to external factors. And, by the way, severe Russian frosts and the same powder on the road also have a very negative effect on all this. And more "open" parts, such as the clutch, can make you a frequent visitor to the service station, because such a breakdown can hardly be called petty, and this repair will need to be done immediately.

Chassis

I would like to highlight shock absorbers as a separate point, as a sore spot for Daewoo Nexia. The fact is that although the car was created mainly for bad Russian roads, it is difficult to call it reliable in this regard. For this reason, the suspension, shock absorbers, and all other components of this plan fail very quickly, letting the driver down at the most unexpected moment. In particular, the factory springs already after 50,000-60,000 kilometers begin to "crumble", and if you miss this moment and do not make repairs, then further breakdown will be much more severe and expensive.

Rust and paintwork problems

  1. in Korea, at the home plant of the car. And although cars have been tinkering from there for a long time, they began to gain popularity only after the price of a car fell sharply. The reason was not the change in characteristics, or something else, but the fact that the cars were disassembled at the border, and then disassembled on the territory of Russia. Thus, it was possible to save on duties and, as a result, to reduce the final price.

Until 1993, the factories where Daewoo are produced continued to cooperate with the Americans. In the 90s, cars, whose manufacturer Daewoo did not want to be limited to the local market, managed to "leave" the borders of South Korea. The cars of the Daewoo Nexia company, as well as Daewoo Espero were appreciated by the German consumer, they successfully established themselves in the automotive market.
