Where Mitsubishi ASX is assembled. Choice of ASX powertrains

Assembling Mitsubishi ASX, or rather, the place where this compact crossover was released is of interest to domestic motorists for a reason. The versions produced in different countries differ slightly from each other in terms of the quality and strength of the body. Because of this, the answer to the question of where Mitsubishi ASX is assembled for Russia is relevant even now - however, only for buyers who need a used car.

Where is Mitsubishi ASH collected

Due to the fact that the assembly of the Mitsubishi ASX is currently only produced at one plant, motorists who decide to purchase a new crossover need not worry. Their car is guaranteed to be only Japanese - from the city of Okazaki. American enterprise Motors North America (MMNA), which produced ASX from 2012 to 2015, is now producing other cars.

It is possible that after the next restyling or the release of a new generation, the situation will change. Moreover, the automaker has changed its opinions more than once. For example, in 2016 the company stopped supplying ASX to the Russian market, and after a few months in some showrooms it was possible to purchase new configurations of the same car.

Assembling past versions of Mitsubishi ASX

The first versions of the ACX model were presented to the general public in 2010 - although before that the car was already known in Japan as the Mitsubishi RVR. began to be produced at the Japanese enterprise Nagoya Plant in the city of Okazaki. The finished cars were thoroughly checked and sent to the markets of different countries, including Russia. However, shipping overseas increased the cost of the model, which led to the need to open another facility in the United States.

The penultimate generation was produced for Russia and a number of other countries at an enterprise in Illinois, USA. At the same time, models from Japan can be found in some showrooms. In appearance, they do not differ from modifications from the States, and to determine the country, you will have to check the information with the dealer or look at the VIN. The Japanese number starts with JA-JT, the American number starts with 1, 4, or 5.

At American enterprises, assembly for Ukraine was also performed earlier. Although in the secondary market of this country, you can also find Japanese versions. This is due to the fact that until 2012, most ASX models were supplied to the CIS countries only from Japan. Now only Japanese modifications are sold in Ukrainian showrooms.

Build quality

The country where the crossover was produced is of great importance to the quality of its assembly. So, many car owners believe that the American versions are not so hardy, and the paint on their body is covered with scratches faster than the Japanese trim levels. Cars from the USA do not differ in the high quality of metal, which is easier to bend, and adaptation for bad Russian roads.

Japanese ACHs are chosen more often, even when making a purchase on the secondary market - because of the higher-quality material of manufacture and decoration. Most of the other characteristics, including interior sound insulation, do not depend on the country of manufacture of the model.

Many car enthusiasts are interested in where the individual is produced. For example, a man has Pajero and he is interested in where his brothers are made. In this article we will see where are individual Mitsubishi models produced.

Where is it collected Mitsubishi I- Miev?

This is the first electric car of the Mitsubishi Motors concern. Not so long ago, the car appeared on the territory of Russia. At the moment, this model is assembled exclusively in its homeland - in Japan, at the Mitsushima plant in the city of Kurashiki.

Where is it collected Mitsubishi Pajero Sport?

The legendary sold in Russia has a multinational history.

  • Since 1998, the car has been produced exclusively in Japan.
  • Since 2004, components have been imported to Russia from the United States, although production in Japan continued.
  • From 2008 to 2012, cars were imported from Thailand.
  • From 2013 to 2015, it was produced at a plant near Kaluga.

Here's an interesting story behind this Japanese SUV.

Where is Mitsubishi Pajero assembled?

Pajero is the dream of millions of car enthusiasts around the world. One of the first SUVs to quickly become popular. In 2015, the model celebrated its 25th anniversary, making it one of the oldest models of the concern. During this time, the model has gone through 5 updates. Mitsubishi Pajero collected in Japan and this is good news for true connoisseurs of Japanese technology.

Where is it collected Mitsubishi Outlander?

From 2012 to 2015, the assembly was carried out in Russia, all at the same plant near Kaluga. The result is the following:

  • 2010 - 2012 - Outlander from Japan was assembled in Russia;
  • Assembly after 2012 (until 2015) was carried out in Russia;

The Russian assembly is under strict quality control. At the moment, there were no questions about the quality of the Russian assembly, although some motorists made comments in the direction of the Kaluga plant.

Where is it collected Mitsubishi ASX?

- one of the most popular models in Russia in terms of price / quality ratio. In addition to production in Japan, at the Nagoya plant in Okazaki, the car is produced in the USA at a plant in Illinois. It is difficult to determine which car of which production is more in Russia: American or Japanese. Some people think that in American-built models there are less complaints about squeaking in the suspension.

Where is it collected Mitsubishi Lancer?

It's no secret that this model is one of the best-selling in Russia. The main competitor, Toyota Corolla, is a purebred Japanese, which is assembled at the plant in Japan. On the same conveyor, and are assembled. The model is delivered to Russia with a small margin, because the direct competitor of the model is a serious obstacle at this price level.

Below is a table of countries of production of Mitsubishi models.

The Japanese Mitsubishi ASX crossover is one of the most popular SUVs among Russian motorists. The new Mitsubishi ASH appeared in Russia in mid-summer 2010, and since then, from year to year, the army of its adherents has only been increasing. In our review, we will consider the technical characteristics of the updated Mitsubishi ASX crossover of the 2013 model, presented at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. We will evaluate the paint colors of the body, tires and wheels, sit down in the salon, look in the trunk, consider the possible configurations, the level of their filling and prices, and of course we will conduct a test drive on and off the asphalt. Traditionally, video and photo materials, analysis of owner reviews and comments from auto journalists will help us.

How is a crossover with an upgraded suspension controlled, what is the real fuel consumption, where is it better to carry out maintenance on the Mitsubishi ASX and buy accessories for it, or maybe the car has weak points? There are a lot of questions, we will try to give answers to everything.

When creating a compact crossover АСХ, Japanese specialists took a simple and, in our opinion, the right path. As a basis, the larger Mitsubishi Outlander XL of the second generation was taken, which was lowered and made a more sloping roof, the front overhang was reduced by 95 mm and the stern was cut by 250 mm. By this reduction, a compact ASX was obtained, while the dimensions of the wheelbase of the platform donor were preserved. The brainchild of Japanese engineers Mitsubishi ASX later allowed the creation of clones in the face of a French couple - and the Peugeot 4008.

  • We indicate the external overall dimensions Mitsubishi ASX: 4295 mm long, 1770 mm wide, 1625 mm high, 2670 mm wheelbase, 195 mm ground clearance ( clearance).

Mitsubishi Outlander XL - with a body length of 4640 mm, a height of 1680 mm and a ground clearance of 215 mm. The reduction in size led to a decrease in the curb weight by more than 200 kg, as a result, depending on the version, the mass of the compact ASX ranges from 1300 kg to 1455 kg.

  • Tires installed 215 / 65R16 or 215 / 60R17, steel or light-alloy disks 16 sizes and 17 radius in light alloy. As a tuning, it is possible to install 215 / 55R18 tires on R18 alloy wheels.
  • There is a wide selection for painting the body colors enamels: white, white mother-of-pearl, black mother-of-pearl and metallics - silver, dark blue, turquoise, red and gray.

The body design of the compact crossover with three diamonds on the lining of the huge trapezoid of the false radiator grille is made in the style of the Outlander XL and the Lancer X sedan.

The exterior of the updated ASX is practically indistinguishable from the pre-styling models of the car; the designers only slightly corrected the radiator grille, front and rear bumpers. Otherwise, the appearance of the Japanese has not changed, the strict lines of the wedge-shaped body, the inflated sill line, large doorways, the roof falling to the stern, the lean rear, moderate stamping of the wheel arches, neat rear and front bumpers, strict lighting technology (rear with LED filling). And the obligatory attribute of the crossover in the face of plastic protection of the lower part of the car body made of black plastic, capable of withstanding the impact of stones and sand flying from under the wheels with dignity.

The body of Mitsu ASX is made with a wide use of high-strength steel and is seriously protected by an anti-corrosion and anti-gravel coating on the bottom. The front fenders are plastic, despite the chopped shape, the drag coefficient is only 0.32 Cx. For severe Russian operating conditions, all Mitsubishi ASX are equipped with batteries with a larger capacity, antifreeze capable of withstanding temperatures below -40 degrees, a reconfigured engine control unit (cold start) and heated front seats.

The salon of the Japanese crossover Mitsubishi ASX is qualitatively assembled from materials pleasant to the touch (soft plastic, textured fabric upholstery, leather upholstery is possible). It is convenient to get into the car in the front and rear seats. Let's start our review of the interior, of course, from the driver's seat. The small-sized steering wheel fits nicely in the hands, the steering column is adjustable in four directions, informative instruments are in two deep wells, between them there is an on-board computer screen with a color information display. The mechanically adjustable chair (power option) provides a high and comfortable seating position, but excessively dense padding causes fatigue in the lumbar region during long rides.

The dashboard and center console have a pleasant, soft outline. Depending on the equipment level of the Mitsubishi ASX, the console is equipped with a radio (radio CD MP3 AUX 4 or 6 speakers) or advanced Rockford Fostgate music (subwoofer, 8 speakers), you can order a multimedia complex with a touch screen (navigator, CD DVD USB, Bluetooth, camera rear view). There is air conditioning or climate control, an air duct to the feet of the rear passengers.

In the second row, due to the large size of the wheelbase, three passengers will fit, but sitting is somewhat uncomfortable due to the vertical landing and low ceiling, and the miniature side windows cause a feeling of stiffness.
The trunk of the Mitsu ASX in the stowed state holds 415 liters of cargo, in the underground there is a full-fledged spare wheel, folding the second row we get an almost flat area with 1219 liters of volume. The large fifth door provides a large rectangular opening, but the loading height is large.

Specifications Mitsubishi ASX 2012-2013: the car in Russia is offered with three gasoline engines.

  • 1.6-liter (117 hp) with 5 manual transmissions and 2 WD front-wheel drive, the engine accelerates the car to 100 km / h in 11.4 seconds, the maximum speed is 183 km / h, fuel consumption from 5 liters on the highway to 7.8 liters in the city. Real fuel consumption on the highway is 6.5-7.5 liters, in city traffic jams 10-11 liters.
  • 1.8-liter engine (140 hp), automatic transmission - CVT variator, with front-wheel drive (2 WD) provides acceleration to hundreds in 13.1 seconds, top speed about 186 mph, passport fuel consumption from 6.4 liters outside the city and 9.8 liters in the city, in real operating conditions (owner reviews) will range from 7.5-8.5 liters on the highway to 11-12 liters in the city (in tight traffic jams up to 14 liters).
  • 2.0-liter engine (150 hp), automatic transmission CVT, four-wheel drive (all-wheel drive Multi-Select 4WD transmission) with three modes (2WD - automatically connected four-wheel drive, 4WD - constant torque distribution along the axles and Lock- the mode of fast response of the electromagnetic clutch, but alas, not blocking). The motor, variator and plug-in four-wheel drive accelerate the crossover to 100 km / h in 11.9 seconds at a top speed of 188 km / h (the owners boast that they have accelerated more than 200 km / h). The fuel efficiency indicators declared by the manufacturer from 6.8 liters on a suburban highway to 10.5 liters in the city cannot be achieved by the owners, the engine actually consumes from 8-9 liters on the highway and 12-12.5 liters in the city.

The suspension is fully independent with anti-roll bars, MacPherson struts in front, multi-link architecture at the rear, electric power steering is applied, disc brakes are already in the initial configuration (1.6 5 manual transmissions) with ABS EBD Brake Assist Brake override system, in more advanced versions with 1.8 and 2.0 liter engines add ASTC (traction control system) and Hill Start Assist.

Test Drive Mitsubishi ASX of 2013: the owners of the first cars complained of problems and inadequate behavior of the crossover in corners (the rear axle could slip into a skid even at low speed, the suspension was loose). Mitsubishi has listened to the claims of car owners, and the car has been produced with an upgraded suspension since June 2011. Other stabilizer struts are installed in the front and stiffer rear shock absorbers, and the characteristics of the operation of the electric power steering and stabilization system have also changed.
As a result, the operation of the car has become safer, on a hard road surface the suspension is assembled, but excessively stiff, it shakes even on small irregularities in the cabin, large pits and potholes are strongly felt by passengers and the driver. Changes in the suspension had a positive effect on handling, the car is stable and obedient, but ... you don't want to go fast, the chassis is too loud and does not differ in energy intensity, poor sound and noise insulation of the cabin.
For serious off-road conditions, the Mitsubishi ASX of 2012-2013 is poorly adapted, even the version with an all-wheel drive transmission. But on slippery or snowy roads, connecting the rear wheels adds a lot of confidence to the owner.
Although the Japanese crossover ACX looks like a crossover, in practice, in our opinion, it is a five-door hatchback with increased ground clearance and the ability to order all-wheel drive, but the suspension clearly does not dispose to travel on poorly paved roads.

Where is it collected Mitsubishi ASH: the assembly of the car for the Russian market will probably be carried out in Kaluga, but for now the crossover is leaving the assembly line in Japan and the USA.
How much is: the cost in Russia АСХ 2012-2013 captures a very wide range of prices. For just 699 thousand rubles, you can buy the initial set of ASX Inform (1.6 117 hp 5 manual transmissions), and the sale of the maximum version of the ASX Exclusive 2.0 150 hp 4WD variator (leather interior, electric driver's seat, panoramic roof, navigation, xenon, climate -control) is carried out almost twice as expensive - from 1.249 thousand rubles.
The best option is to buy a new Mitsubishi ASX - a car dealership that has the status of an official dealer. It is also better to buy spare parts and make current repairs from a dealer, for a simple reason - the conditions for maintaining the warranty. However, in some cases, spare parts, accessories (rugs, covers, etc.), minor repairs and tuning of the Mitsubishi ASX are cheaper to order via the Internet and perform at a specialized service station.

Mitsubishi ASX was absent from the Russian market for a year and two months. How seriously has the crossover changed during this time?

Not too serious. There are now LED running lights in the front bumper, the shape of the radiator grille cells has changed slightly. The rear bumper with a fake diffuser is new. Plus there was a chrome strip on the fifth door.

The interior changes are noticeable, but there could have been more. The eco-leather-trimmed tunnel and handlebars with glossy accents and proper grip tides are great. However, the modern multimedia system with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, available on ASX in other markets, did not reach us. We are sorry.

The base price tag of 1,099,000 rubles seems attractive enough for a time-tested Japanese-made car. Or is it not?

The starting price doesn't really cause any protest until you start going into details and comparing it with the competitors' offerings. If you dig deeper and figure it out, it becomes sad. For a million we are offered a front-wheel drive crossover with a 1.6-liter engine and a manual transmission. No side airbags, no seat heating, no audio system (there will only be an AUX connector and four speakers) and no trunk curtain.

For the same money, you can buy a 2-liter front-wheel drive Creta with a gun and all of the above options. You can take a very decently packed Renault Kaptur (1.6, CVT). The Ford EcoSport, Suzuki Vitara and SX4 will also be significantly better equipped at a similar price tag. Yes - none of them can boast of a Japanese assembly (Hyundai, Renault and Ford are assembled in Russia, Suzuki - in Hungary). But we are not quite sure that this is any weighty argument in favor of ASX today.

What about the long-named Instyle 2.0 CVT AWD top-end version? Mitsubishi asks for a little less than one and a half million for such a car.

In our opinion, the packed Mitsubishi ASX has a slightly higher chances of market success. However, the crossover will have a hard time without fans of the brand and adherents of "real Japanese assembly". The equipment of the top-end ASX (2-liter 150-horsepower engine, four-wheel drive transmission, seven airbags, leather interior) is already good, but the same Nissan Qashqai is ready to offer more for comparable money. For example, a panoramic roof and an all-round visibility system. And yet, with a budget of 1.5 million rubles, you can safely look at the larger Mazda CX-5 crossover. An excellent option for those who value driving pleasure.

By the way, how is the Mitsubishi ASX doing with driving pleasure?

Since versions with a 1.6 engine are equipped exclusively with mechanics and are unlikely to be in serious demand, for our acquaintance we took a 2-liter 150-horsepower ASX with a CVT. The motor-gearbox ligaments are enough for the car in all situations. The acceleration dynamics are sufficient even for overtaking on-road, the response to the accelerator is adequate. In addition to the weak soundproofing of the engine compartment, there are no complaints about the car here.

And yet, if you have something to compare with, do not expect driving pleasure. As for the asphalt, that on the ground, the ASX grieves with a fairly light steering wheel with a blurred "zero", and the surface defects are broadcast in too much detail into the salon. Most of the competitors are more interesting and thoroughbred.

Maybe the ASX will play off-road? Mitsubishi's off-road heritage is bound to leave its mark on even a compact crossover.

Alas, the legacy does not know about its duty. Almost the only off-road trump card of the ASX is its remarkable geometric cross-country ability. The angles of entry (22 °) and exit (33 °) are two to three degrees larger than those of classmates. And the ground clearance of 185 mm is decent by modern standards. But otherwise, everything is bad.

The ASX failed when tested on our proprietary roller skids. The interaxle clutch, which transferred some of the torque to the rear axle, allowed the crossover to slide off two platforms under the front wheels. But already during the exercise simulating diagonal hanging (platforms are installed diagonally: under one rear and one front wheel), it overheated after 10 seconds of slipping. Repeated attempts with a locked clutch and a disabled stabilization system (of course, after complete cooling of the transmission) were also unsuccessful. To the chagrin of Mitsubishi, almost all all-wheel drive crossovers of competitors slide off the "diagonal" without any problems.

Is the updated interior noticeably more pleasant than the pre-reform one? Is there a lot of space in the cabin? Is the trunk good?

Changes to the interior are minimal, but they can be written down to the "Japanese" in the merits. The new outlander steering wheel mentioned above is good. The leather trim of the central tunnel, although not capable of creating the impression of a more expensive car, is generally pleasant. For dessert, a USB port moved from the armrest to the lower part of the center console. Great? Yes. But there are also remarks.

"Leather", which is upholstered in the front seats, looks defiantly unnatural. Discrete climate control washers are archaic and inconvenient to use. The variator selector has to be pulled down somewhere. And yes - the USB port just moved, because there is now a void in the center armrest. For some reason, Mitsubishi decided that one connector would be enough for the entire cabin.

With the profile of the driver's seat and the geometry of the fit, everything is fine. Only very long-legged drivers may lack the length of the seat cushion. But there is not much space in the back. The three of us get in comfortably because of the small width of the cabin. Passengers with a height of 190 cm rest their head against the ceiling, and with their knees on the backs of the front seats. At the same time, the doors themselves open at a small angle, and their inner lining is devoid of pockets. In 2010 - when the ASX was born - their absence was considered the norm, but by modern standards, bad manners.
