Generation II (F20 / F21). Restyling

In 2015, a video presentation of the BMW 1-series, which has undergone a restyling procedure, took place. Outside, the car began to look more aggressive thanks to new headlights, bumpers and body kit. Inside, the dashboard and center console have been updated.

Specifications have also been revised. The petrol range now looks like this:

  • 1.5 liter engine (turbo). Develops 136 horsepower. Equipped with 6MKP / 8AKP.
  • 1.6 liter engine (turbo). Power is equal to 184 forces. It is aggregated with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

  • 1.5 liter engine. Power is equal to 116 horsepower. 6MKP / 8AKP is aggregated.
  • Engines 2.0 liter. Develop 150, 190, 224 strength. Equipped with a mechanical six-speed transmission and an eight-band "automatic".

What do the owners think?

"Bavarian" pleases its owners with an excellent chassis and dynamics. At the same time, the reliability of turbo engines that run on gasoline is unimportant. Namely, engines are demanding on the quality of fuel and their fuel system constantly hints about this.

The second generation of the Bavarian compact looks stylish and aggressive. It is worth noting a low body with tight proportions, a low body kit, as well as narrowed headlights. The front wheel arches protrude slightly, thus hinting at the sporting inclinations of the car.

Salon

The center console is turned towards the driver at a certain angle, obligingly substituting the air conditioning and media system units under the right hand. The instrument panel is still analog, but it is equipped with an on-board computer LCD monitor.

The dynamics of this engine is enough for the eyes of an ordinary driver. The motor shows a lively temper at medium / high revs, and the transmission quickly changes gears.

The handling doesn't disappoint either. It should be noted the sensitive steering wheel and small rolls in the corners. However, the stabilization system often seeks to control the behavior of the car on the arc, so there is a tendency to understeer.

Suspension - with short strokes and high energy consumption. It would seem that you can forget about driving comfort. But the test drive revealed that the BMW 1-Series simply ignores minor irregularities, maintaining a high smoothness.
