I bought a car, one might say by accident. I urgently needed a vehicle, so I didn't even hope for something good for that kind of money. In appearance, of course, I like it very much. Aggressive and sporty body lines, headlights and more. However, according to the owners' reviews, I read the minuses about the Mitsubishi ASX only after the purchase. And only after two years of operation I realized that I completely agree with most of them. The only good news is that the car has a low gas mileage, just what I needed. However, everything else is a bit tight. For example, a vehicle accelerates very slowly on a fast lane. Sometimes you even have to follow the truck. Very annoying, especially when I'm in a hurry. Very small trunk. I often go to nature, dacha, barbecue. So, very few things fit in the trunk. It is necessary to fold the rest in the back seat. And it's good if there are no passengers. To be honest, when I took a new car in the cabin, I was completely sure that there would be no serious problems with it for about a couple of years. But the Mitsubishi ASX showed its shortcomings six months later. The car was parked in a garage outside the city. There was a small blizzard, the motor failed, the wipers did not work. I took this car for my wife, but it happens that I often ride it myself. to date, we have already dashed off 27 t.km. Maybe, of course, it depends on the tires, but I don't seem to have bad ones - yakohoma. - the fan works noisily starting from the middle of the power; - it is not clear why the loudness range is made from 1 to 15-17. you can not hear the radio even while standing still at 3, at 8 and 10, and between themselves they are not very different. adequate volume starts from 18 to 22-25. We changed the insurance without any problems. But I thought that it would be better if they were a little higher. Well, probably that's all. Mitsubishi ASX is a compact urban crossover built on a shortened Mitsubishi Outlander platform. At home in Japan, the ASX went on sale in February 2010 under the Mitsubishi RVR name. In March 2010, the European version of the compact crossover was presented at the Geneva Motor Show, and in April - the North American version, under the name Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. Engines

There are three gasoline engines in the arsenal of Mitsubishi ASX: 1.6 liters with 117 hp, 1.8 liters - 140 hp. and 2.0 l - 150 hp. All power units have a timing chain drive. European versions can be equipped with a 1.8 liter - 150 hp diesel engine.

Owners of Mitsubishi ASX with a base 1.6 liter engine from time to time note starting problems: the engine starts from the second or third time. Since the problem is not a systemic one, it has not yet been possible to identify the cause.

But the detonation that occurs at speeds close to 3000 rpm is a more common phenomenon for a 1.6 liter engine. This "phenomenon" is presumably associated with a high compression ratio of 11.0: 1 and depletion of the mixture in certain modes. It is well known that detonation has a detrimental effect on the "health" of the motor. But specimens that have driven more than 50-100 thousand km demonstrate the absence of any unpleasant consequences. Some owners have noted a connection between the appearance of detonation and a change in the place of refueling. Some authorized service centers offer new firmware for the engine ECU, but even after the update, the knock does not always disappear. From the words of "officials" - the factory firmware was changed on the 2012 model year ASX, which excludes the occurrence of detonation. But individual owners still celebrate its appearance.

In severe frosts, below 30 degrees, on crossovers with a 1.6 liter engine, there were cases of oil squeezing out through the dipstick and oil seals due to freezing of the crankcase ventilation pipe. At the end of 2011, a Mitsubishi technical bulletin was published, prescribing the replacement of the old-style branch pipe with a modified one with a large internal diameter. The new branch pipe has been installed on the conveyor since 2012.


Specific features appeared on the restyled version of the Mitsubishi ASX with a 1.8 liter engine. The motor received a different layout for the accessory drive belt with fewer rollers and a shortened belt. As a result, at speeds close to 1000-1200 rpm, extraneous sounds resembling rattling appear. When contacting authorized services, mechanics often mistakenly assume that this resonates the crankcase protection. But in reality, the source of the sound is the vibrating belt tensioner. Transmission


Mitsubishi ASX with a 1.6 liter engine was equipped with only a 5-speed manual gearbox. There were no problems with the box. Several owners took advantage of the warranty due to a whistling release bearing.

The rest of the motors were aggregated exclusively with the JATCO stepless variator. Most owners are concerned about the reliability of the box, and meticulously react to the slightest deviation from the usual norm. In particular, small tremors are noted when speeding up at speeds of about 2000 rpm or passing the mark of 30-40 km / h. But this is the normal operation of the variator - the torque converter lockup is activated. There were no complaints about the appearance of the trolleybus hum. However, not without serious incidents: several cases of box failure and vehicle immobilization were recorded. During the initial inspection, shavings were found in the oil, and the official services did not disclose the final verdict. But it is worth noting that there are only a few such cases. The experience of operating these CVTs on the older brother Outlander XL shows that there are no massive problems with CVTs.

Undercarriage

The first Mitsubishi ASX received a loose rear suspension: swinging appeared on irregularities, which in turns led to a sharp departure from the trajectory. The dangerous behavior of the crossover is well "tasted" by drivers who prefer an active driving style. Later, on 2012 model year vehicles, the chassis settings were changed and the problem was resolved.

The category of "consumables" in the ACX suspension includes stabilizer bushings with a resource of more than 35-40 thousand km (from 200 to 400 rubles for the original bushing). But the weakest engine, which develops 117 horsepower with a volume of 1.6 liters, can cause minor problems from time to time. Some Mitsubishi ASX owners with this power unit have already complained that they are not always able to start the car the first time. But since over the years of production of the crossover the problem has not become a systemic one, the Japanese have not yet thought about solving it. But with detonation, which sometimes occurs at medium speed on cars with a 1.6-liter engine, dealers and Mitsubishi itself tried to fight. They released a new firmware for the engine ECU, which partially solved the problem. Although individual owners still note that sometimes the detonation appears again.

There are fewer complaints about the 140-horsepower 1.8-liter gasoline engine. Transmission problems.


A very reliable manual transmission is relatively rare on the Mitsubishi ASX. Most of the cars that have already proven themselves well on the older Outlander model. Suspension is another weak point.

Only the outer side of the side members is protected from sand and gravel; there are no deflectors in front of the fuel tank. In addition, the plastic protection does not completely cover the wheel arches.

We were engaged in aerodynamics, but not very carefully: there are small wings in front of the wheels, the gap between the body and the front bumper is sealed, although not along the entire length, flow guides are present, but their length is small.

The ventilation system deflectors do not overlap, which is not very convenient. The air flow is regulated by a central control knob.

There is no protection of thresholds in the area of ​​the doors.

The interior door handles in the armrests are sturdy but uncomfortable.
