Refinement of doorway seals for the purpose of noise insulation

On most cars (especially Japanese and Korean production), doorway seals are a hollow thin-walled rubber tube, which after some time is frozen, sends and can even "track" under constant pressure and shocks when it is closed.

Obviously, if through such a sealant and will not be with a whistle to walk the counter wind, then it certainly will not provide reliable fixation of the door in the doorway. And the reliable fixation of the door in the doorway is needed primarily to reduce the vibrations of the door, its glass and the metal part. The tougher construction - the less vibrations, the fewer vibrations - the less noise. To implement our plan to increase the rigidity of the standard seal (the replacement of the seal on something else was not even considered from aesthetic considerations), we picked up cords of various diameters. Exactly forty Cords, not tube, since tubes under conditions of variable loads quickly come into disrepair (seed or crack). And the rubber cord remains elastic. So, the cord we stretch inside the hollow part of the seal.

We leave a small margin along the length, because when stretching the cords are stretched, and after some time they return to the usual state, slightly decreased in length. After installing the sealant in the opening, we cut the cord on the place or "squeeze" it, if it allows you to make a gap between the opening and the door.

We have already implemented this solution on a variety of cars, and the owners respond about this revision very positive. Doors are closed more tight, sit in the opening more rigidly, with a small preload. The level of aerodynamic noise is reduced and the extraneous sounds of friction of seals are disappeared.
