The history of the birth of Sava

The origin of the company took place in the Slovenian city of Kranj almost 100 years ago. In 1920, four entrepreneurs joined forces to form a company called the Atlanta Import / Export Company, which was soon renamed Vulkan. This enterprise begins the production of various rubber products, including shoe soles.

In 1931, the company becomes subordinate to the Austrian Semperit, its production volumes are growing rapidly, and the consumer market is increasing. A year later - in 1932 - the company begins to produce

In 1939, the management of the company passed to one of the largest manufacturers of rubber products Continental Gummi - Werke AG. By 1946, the production of automobile tires was being established and the name of the company was changed. From that time on, it will be called "Sava" - in honor of the river that flows in Slovenia and originates in the local mountains.

The further fate of the company is connected with the conquest of its niche in the world tire market. The company's management is actively interested in the development and improvement of the quality of manufactured tires, the application of new production technologies.

Active development of the company

In 1965, the firm launched the first one with a high speed index. In 1974, the production of metal cord reinforced, which are known for their durability and wear resistance, was launched.

In 1992, the company received the famous SIST ISO 90011995 certificate, confirming the high quality of its products. Soon, the renowned American company Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company acquired Sava, which meant its actual transfer to the subordination of the main owner.

Since 1998, Sava tires have been produced under Goodyear Tire supervision. Since that time, production has begun to grow rapidly: new factories are being built, sales are increasing (by 2000, it amounted to 6.5 million tires).

In 2004, Goodyear acquired a full stake in the Slovenian company, becoming its full owner.

Sava today

Today Sava is the largest rubber goods manufacturer in Slovenia. Thanks to the use of engineering developments and the latest technologies, the company produces high quality products that can boldly compete with leading tire holdings. ISO 9002, ISO 9001, ISO TS 16949, EAQF certificates confirm the quality of its products and achievements in the field of tire production. In addition, the company has certificates such as ISO 14001, confirming the environmental safety of the enterprise.

Sava tires are produced in several European factories. The very first plant, located in Slovenia in the city of Kranj, is one of the most equipped and technically equipped enterprises in Europe. In alliance with Goodyear, Fulda, Dunlop, this company has increased its influence in the global market.

The tire products of this company are in great demand among many motorists, due to the excellent quality offered in an affordable price segment.

The factories of the company employ more than 1600 people, employees of the company. The company has received numerous awards confirming its achievements in the field of labor protection and the environment.

Model Description

The winter tires of the popular Slovenian company Sava, the Sava Eskimo Stud with studs, are affordable and reliable tires for the most extreme and difficult winter road conditions. The studs have a hexagonal structure, which greatly improves the grip properties of the tire, with lateral and longitudinal slippage.

Thanks to a special tread pattern, the Sava Eskimo Stud model has increased directional and lateral stability during difficult maneuvers and cornering. Such tires delight car owners with quick and precise wheel response to steering commands, guaranteeing stability in all weather conditions.

Wide, wider drainage grooves help to instantly drain moisture and slurry from the wheel, minimizing the risk of aquaplaning on wet roads in winter. Sava Eskimo Stud tires must be installed according to the instructions - in the direction of the arrow or the inscription (Rotation) located on the sidewall of the tire.

Manufacturing technology

The latest technology was used in the development of this tire. For example, its tread is designed using popular technology such as V-TRED, which is a proprietary Goodyear design. It is used on almost all winter models of this company. The special symmetrical herringbone pattern helps to better wick moisture away from the wheel, which improves the grip of the tire at high speed. The drainage channels are located at a special angle in the direction of travel, which is most effective when draining the tread.

The special ActiveStud technology, which uses six-sided studs, is aimed at shortening and fast acceleration characteristics of the tire.

The 3D-BIS technology applied in the tire design is a sipe upgrade. Convex bubbles specially located on the sipe walls help to increase the grip of the wheel on slippery roads.

The new spike distribution system on the tread contributes not only to improving the braking properties of the wheel, but also to reducing noise during active high-speed movement.

The increased number of clutch edges reduces the likelihood of wheel slip, ensuring excellent acceleration and braking performance. In the manufacture of Sava Eskimo Stud tires, the manufacturer paid special attention to the tread structure. Thanks to a special stiffening rib located in the center of the tire, the vehicle's directional stability is improved.

Massive blocks located in the shoulder areas contribute to self-cleaning of the wheel when driving on snowy roads, as well as increase stability and stability during difficult maneuvering.

Numerous multi-directional tread sipes are designed to increase traction on the slippery road surfaces. The tread pattern of the Sava Eskimo Stud is shown in the photo in the article. And there you can see all the nuances described above.

On Sava Eskimo Stud tires, the stud is made of a special wear-resistant alloy, which allows the tires to be used for 4-5 seasons while maintaining the technical characteristics of the rubber. The special distribution of the studs allows you to achieve low noise production and at the same time maintain reliable grip.

Rubber compound

As for the quality properties of the rubber compound of the Sava Eskimo Stud tire: consumer reviews about the durability of this model confirm the quality guarantees declared by the company. With careful use, the rubber can last up to 5 seasons without significant loss of studs.

The addition of silica, a special ingredient in all winter tires, contributes to the softness and durability of the rubber. A specially developed rubber compound used in the manufacture of this model contains a polymer with silicon components, which allows the tire to retain its elasticity and mobility even at low temperatures in the winter season.

Sava Eskimo Stud tires: consumer reviews

Winter tires are always selected by motorists with great care and attention, since safety, comfort and reliability in difficult road conditions of the season depend on their properties. This is especially true for Russian consumers, who most often face the problem of snowfall.

In order to be sure of the quality of this model, you need to study consumer reviews. Sava Eskimo Stud is rated by many car enthusiasts as reliable, inexpensive, soft, durable tires. In addition, consumers note such positive characteristics of the model as acoustic comfort during high-speed operation, preservation of elasticity, excellent resistance to slipping on snowy roads, reliable response to the track, strong reliable studding, and an affordable price.

Nevertheless, many motorists leave negative reviews about these tires. Sava Eskimo Stud, according to consumer estimates, has the following disadvantages: the tire has a too soft sidewall, which is most susceptible to mechanical damage. As you know, side tears on tubeless tires cannot be repaired, therefore, after such damage, the tire must be replaced. Also, many car owners note increased noise during the break-in period. After passing the first 200,000 kilometers, noise production decreases.

Features of the tread pattern

Sava Eskimo Stud tires have a tread pattern that demonstrates the best performance and performance in urban conditions. Most convenient when driving on high-quality asphalt surfaces. It is completely unsuitable for country trips, as it cannot cope with a soft dirt road. Distinctive features of this pattern are low rolling resistance, excellent acoustic performance, high wear resistance.

Testing

Like other models produced by Sava Tires, Sava Eskimo Stud was also tested. These tires passed the test successfully, showing the following results:

The braking distance when driving on ice at a speed of 50 km / h using the traction control system was 54.8 m.

Acceleration time on an icy surface in the range from 5 to 20 km / h was 4.5 s.

The braking distance on a snow-covered road when operating at a speed of 80 km / h was 57.1 m.

    Acceleration time on a snow-covered road in the range from 5 to 35 km / h was 5.8 s.

The stopping distance on wet asphalt when operating at 80 km / h with ABS was 33 m.

The stopping distance on dry asphalt when operating at 80 km / h using ABS was 27.3 m.

According to experts, the Sava Eskimo Stud tires passed the test quite successfully, showing good results.

Bus cost

The Sava Eskimo Stud MS model can be bought in the range from 1670 rubles to 3500 for one tire. The price varies depending on the wheel size and load. The higher the indicators, the more expensive a set of winter car shoes will cost. Consumer reviews of Sava Eskimo Stud most often note the pleasant cost of these tires. And this is often the main criterion when choosing them.

Tire sizes and indexes

Sava Eskimo Stud h Stud tires are offered in the following specifications.

    Size - 175 / 70R13, INS - 82T.

    Size - 175 / 65R14, INS - 82T.

    Size - 185 / 65R14, INS - 86T.

    Size - 185 / 70R14, INS - 88T.

    Size - 185 / 60R15, INS - 88T.

    Size - 205 / 55R16, INS - 91T.

    Size - 215 / 65R16, INS - 98T.

The manufacturer offers Sava Eskimo Stud tires in an affordable price range. If we compare the characteristics of these tires with similar models from other companies, we can safely say that in this situation, a low price is not an indicator of poor quality. Tires exhibit excellent properties required when driving on difficult

Conclusion

The Sava company today has achieved great success and is popular all over the world. Now it is one of the largest and most successful tire manufacturers in Europe for cars, trucks and SUVs.

All tires produced at Sava factories are thoroughly tested for quality. Before being exported to other countries, products are tested for manufacturing defects, so when buying Sava tires, we can confidently say that while saving money, you will not save on safety.

It is significant that the enterprise exports over 90% of all its products. The remarkable quality of rubber material, unique production technologies, thoughtful tire design - all this is embodied by Sava in the products it produces and sells.

Tires "Sava" have a good combination of price and quality and are quite famous among auto professionals, mainly due to the truck tires. A large number of standard sizes of passenger and truck tires, as well as tires for special equipment, are produced under this brand.

However, many buyers are wondering - who makes these tires? Who is this brand, who develops new models and where is the production located?

The site "The First for Tires" has collected all the information about the tires "Sava".

In this article, you will learn:

For all its subsidiary brands, the "parent" concern is developing new tire models, providing technology and equipment, as well as its own dealer network for selling products. Thanks to the GoodYear concern, a small Slovenian company is able to offer fairly high-quality products at relatively low prices and sell them all over the world.

Where are the tires made?

Most of the products under the Sava brand are produced at a plant located in the small Slovenian town of Kranj. The plant produces about 6 million tires worldwide. The models Eskimo, Intensa, Perfecta, Trenta, which are popular in Russia, are also produced here.

In Slovenia itself, the company is one of the largest manufacturing enterprises in the country, and sales of tires under the Sava brand account for more than half of the total tire market.

Brand Tire Benefits

One of the main advantages of tires under the Sava brand for the consumer is their modernity, rather high manufacturability (taking into account the vast experience in the production of GoodYear tires), as well as the cost, which, as a rule, is lower than the cost of the tires of the "parent" concern.

That is, by choosing Sava tires, the buyer receives practically GoodYear products, but pays for it noticeably less than when he chooses tires from a well-known American brand.

Brand history

The Slovenian tire brand Sava dates back to 1931. It owes its name to the river Sava of the same name, on which the city of Kranj is located - the birthplace of the brand. Since 1998, it has been owned by the American tire concern GoodYear.

Since the purchase by the Americans, the Slovenian company Sava has received very great opportunities, both in the production of tires and in their sale all over the world.

Headquarters Sava located in a Slovenian town Kranj... Previously, production was located only there, but over time, the company scattered factories throughout Europe. Now 100% of the shares of the Slovenian brand are owned by the American tire giant Goodyear... In addition, Sava cooperates with English tire manufacturers Dunlop, 75% of which are also owned by Goodyear. Cooperation with a renowned brand has brought Sava tires to a qualitatively new level.

The Sava company makes rubber for the summer and winter seasons. The sizes are available for passenger cars, crossovers and SUVs, light and medium-duty trucks.

Features of the production organization Sava

The European branches of production employs staff of 1600 qualified employees... Sava plants produce about eight million tires a year, the same number of tires are sold annually in Europe. The industrial complexes of the manufacturer are equipped with modern equipment and are controlled by the parent concern Goodyear. Under his leadership, Slovenian factories also produce products of some other subsidiary brands.

In the small Slovenian town of Kranj, where the headquarters is located, a massive wholesale center an area of 17.1 square kilometers. On the basis of this center, tires are stored in a safe environment - the premises can hold up to a million tires. The wholesale center has been operating since 2002. For Sava, it has become a kind of "anchor" that allowed to establish uninterrupted supplies and strengthen its position in the European market.

The history of the Sava brand

But it didn't start like that. Production was opened in 1921 and it was the first step on a long road to success. Initially, the plant produced rubber products and bore the name Vulkan.

In 1931 the Austrian manufacturer Semperit is eyeing the successful enterprise - the company's shares are transferred to the new owner. The production expands the production of rubber goods, and automobile tires are becoming one of the products.

In 1939 the company changes its owner again. The plant is transferred to German tire manufacturers and begins to work in a narrow specialization. In 1946 the brand was nationalized and the manufacturer was renamed Sava Rubber Products Company. The plant returns to the universal production of rubber products.

In 1956 Sava decides to expand and to this end relocates the plant to the outskirts of the city. The production is in the same place now.

In 1965 The first tubeless tires for high speed travel are released. In 1967 Sava enters into a cooperation agreement with the Semperit brand, which previously bought out the shares of the company, and forms a production, which was jointly named Sava-Semperit. In 1972, the joint work of partner enterprises started, and after two years, in 1974, the mass production of radial tires for passenger vehicles was launched. Steel belts were a significant constructive transformation of these tires.

In 1985 Germany acquires the Semperit brand and changes the way production works. While the partners are getting to know the new owner, the Sava brand is expanding and developing updated tire lines.

In 1995 Sava starts negotiations with an American manufacturer Goodyear. In 1997 the Akron-based company is buying back sixty percent of Slovenian securities. After this, the manufacturer catches up with a quick success - at the beginning of the 2000s Sava shares are listed on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange, the plant begins to produce five and a half million tires per year.

In 2002 the Americans bought out another 20% of Sava's shares and became owners of 4/5 of all the company's securities. In 2004 the Sava brand is wholly owned by Goodyear... Now the Slovenian manufacturer is working closely with brands known around the world. Among them are "Dunlop" and "Fulda". The company does not stop developing and releases new lines of performance tires.

Sava tire quality

Thanks to cooperation with Goodyear, the Sava brand provides its tires with exceptional performance at an affordable price. All products are tested for quality using special tools developed by the parent company.

Sava never skimps on security.

Not only during the production process, but also immediately before export, the products are tested. Sava tires meet the requirements of the EMEA.

Company awards Sava

Conscientious work is always rewarded. The Sava team has a whole bag of significant achievements:

  • In 1999 The International Standardization Commission has approved the certification of production for claims for environmental friendliness of products.
  • In 2001 Sava has been certified by the International Organization for Standardization with the Production Management Quality Mark.
  • In 2002 The occupational health and safety management system has issued a certificate to the Sava brand, which confirms a safe working environment at the enterprise.

  • In 2004 Sava won the eco-friendly company award.
  • In 2009 the manufacturer has confirmed the quality of development and production of products before the International Organization for Standardization.

Sava is a brand with proven quality. When you buy Sava tires, you gain safety and performance.

I bought tires before the 2016 season, mileage for 3 winter seasons ~ 80,000 km, mostly on the track
I will list what I liked:
1) at any minus temperature, they do not tan, even at -35 ° C they remain elastic
2) that the bare asphalt is that loose and not very snow, the grip is excellent, never got stuck
3) the noise is less than that of the Bigstone Ice Cruiser 7000
4) thorns do not fall out, maybe 1-2 per season no more.

Now "-"
1) there are no downsides for me, I liked everything. Before the season I decided to check the tires, it turned out to be worn up to 4-5mm. and this is already a critical wear. The bases of the spikes are all in place and the cores were built, so it's almost velcro. I decided to buy the same new ones, I did not find on sale the size that I need for winter tires, namely 195 / 55R15, apparently they are being removed from production, although there is not a word about this on the manufacturer's website.
In general, I recommend this tire model to everyone, it is in no way inferior to hackapelite 8 (there was an experience of 1500 km)

The tires are excellent, I took a new one, it took 3 years. On wet grass, practically bare clay, mud and sand calmly and stubbornly moves in front !!! True, the controllability is somewhat reduced, but not significantly. One minus - on the highway at a speed of 100-110 it is buzzing, it is impossible to drive with the windows open. And so the tires are generally norms. the next one will also take SAVU.

I live in the Krasnodar Territory, I took new rubber, this year there was no winter at all, I didn’t spare the rubber. I went into turns so that I thought that I would go into a skid, but no. Rubber holds on dry asphalt well, despite the fact that it is studded. I did not notice aquaplaning. After 130 she starts swimming. During the winter I lost only one spike, although once again I repeat the aggressive driving style. There is practically no wear. Rushing through the mud like a tank, I never let down THE MAIN THING AFTER THE PURCHASE OF RUBBER IT IS CORRECT TO RUN IT IN.

I got it when buying a completely new car, drove 2 thousand km, I'm not happy with the tires, it's noisy, on the ice you constantly get under way with slipping, although you don't accelerate much, very often when braking, abs is triggered, in long turns it blows your ass! Maybe, of course, I was not lucky with the quality, made in Poland, size 195 60 15, Toyota Corolla.

Mitsubishi Lancer IX car bought Sava spike tires in 2012. Otezdil 6 seasons and I don't know how long it will last. Thorns 2/3 remained that's for sure. Those that I put on the front have worn out a little more, which is natural. And on snow porridge and on ice and snow run-up they behave confidently. Of course, if you go with your head. On the bare asphalt, they are noisy, well, the thorns. In general, excellent tires. I bought a summer kit. Let's see what the summer shows.

Sava Intensa uhp2 245 / 40r18 rubber was bought new! Fortunately, it is not expensive for 3900 rubles per wheel! Rubber is a rare g .. but! I bought it in July, traveled until the end of October, in a little more than 3 months, I looked in a terrible way! All in hernias, punctures ... and I drive more or less carefully! Punctures and cuts in such unexpected places! Prior to that, there was a bridge stone Potenza 01, a slightly different size, leaving them for 2 seasons of no puncture, hernia, cut, etc. ... and this very Sava is praised by the sellers, they say, Goody's daughter Era ... don't take her! And without a stock, it costs almost 7,000 rubles! It is not worth the money ... and 3900 is not worth it ...

Sava Eskimo Stud 175/65 14 with tires very dovolen. Otezdil 1 season, about 15 thousand kilometers in mixed mode, the track is a city. Driving style is fast, but not aggressive. Controllability is excellent, braking, too, tires are comfortable. Moderately noisy, all the same spikes. Rubber price-quality, until production is stopped, I will only take it and advise others.
