What is the cost of the engine on the Lada Vesta? What engine is on the Lada Vesta? Let's compare the technical characteristics

Many experts are inclined to believe that the engine is the structural basis in any car. In the promising Lada Vesta model, the power unit is available to the buyer in three versions. Many people are interested in what engine is in their car. The first two engines have an identical volume of 1.6 liters, and the third is 1.8-liter. All engines have the same number of cylinders - four and valves per cylinder - also 4, this information is about which engines are installed in Vesta.

In order to determine which engine is in a particular Lada Vesta, you will need to know not only the modification, but also the configuration. The least powerful is the 1.6-liter unit of domestic origin (VAZ-21129), which is capable of output of 106 “forces”. Owners are often inclined to chip tuning, regardless of what engine it is, in order to improve basic performance. This is the most common version of the unit, of which engines are installed, and therefore information about its design and features is present in sufficient quantities on the Internet.

What features does the VAZ-21129 engine have?

This engine can be equipped in a Lada Vesta car with either a manual or automatic transmission. The ancestor of this unit was the well-known VAZ-21127 engine, which is considered obsolete and does not meet the requirements of environmental standards according to the Euro-5 system.

The updated unit has modern options and progressive design features, which allows it to be compared with engines of foreign-made competitors. Among these features, experts include:

  • reduced compression ratio, allowing the use of fuel with a lower octane number;
  • modified exhaust system;
  • structurally redesigned intake system;
  • updated ECU firmware.

The appearance of the engine has also become more modern. The perimeter of the unit is “overgrown” with all sorts of sensors of the electronic control system.

Note that this version of the engine is most common in the “Comfort” configuration. The designers also took care of creating a sports variation of the car, where they placed a forced engine capable of developing 150 hp. With. The unit considered here served as the basis for such a “fiery heart”. What engines are installed in all versions of the model?

The engineers were able to achieve the indicated results by applying the following design solutions:

  1. Reduced losses due to friction in the cylinders. Here the idea of reducing the thickness of both compression and oil scraper rings was implemented.
  2. Improvements to the exhaust system, where a structurally new resonator is used.
  3. Use of lightweight pistons made of a special aluminum alloy.

On a note! It has been proven by experience that the natural oil consumption in a VAZ-21129 engine is 3 ml per 1 liter of gasoline consumed. This means that approximately 25% of 1 liter of oil present in the engine will be wasted over a mileage of 1 thousand km. This is a good result, because in comparison with domestic engines, the power units of some foreign cars consume much more lubricant over the same distance.

Now let's look at the main characteristics and features of the VAZ-21129 power plant:

  • power, as already noted, 106 hp. With.;
  • the torque is 148 Nm;
  • It is possible to boost the unit to 150 hp. With.;
  • you should start changing the oil every 15 thousand km;
  • uninterrupted operation of the engine at any speed is partly achieved thanks to the use of a special damper system inside the intake manifold;
  • the working pressure value in the chambers (compression) is 12.5 atm;
  • predicted resource – 200 thousand km.

Motor "VAZ-21179"

This version of the power unit for Vesta is the first of its kind, because its volume is still the largest - 1.8 liters. Some experts are inclined to believe that the manufacturer will equip the long-awaited new product with this unit – the Vesta Cross station wagon. This engine is available with a 5-speed automatic transmission. The assembly of the unit is carried out using a selective method.

Now let’s take a closer look at the technical parameters and other important aspects specific to this motor.

  1. From a 1.8-liter volume, the developers managed to squeeze out 122 “horses” - this is real power.
  2. The engine is designed to consume 95 gasoline, and the level of exhaust toxicity is within the regulated values of the Euro-5 system.
  3. The torque reaches 170 Nm;
  4. Experts assure that the engine is capable of covering a repair-free range of 300 thousand km, which is rare for modern cars.

On a note! The level of fuel consumption of this engine is slightly higher than that of analogues used by the manufacturer for Lada Vesta. This is explained by the large volume of the working chambers of the unit. Many owners are not embarrassed by this situation, since the engine compensates for this conditional disadvantage with improved dynamic and speed capabilities.

Engine from Renault-Nissan

This 1.6 imported “heart” engine “HR16” will upset the buyer with its high cost. But the unit is able to please with its remarkable reliability. The developers also endowed this engine with the ability to convert it to run on gas fuel. Here future owners of LADA Vesta have a choice.

On a note! The main advantage of the H4M-HR16DE power plant is the timing chain drive. This point relieves the LADA Vesta owner from the need for frequent periodic replacement of elements of the gas distribution unit (as in a belt drive) and allows him to save money.

This version of the Lada Vesta engine is endowed with balanced characteristics, among which it is worth highlighting the following points:

  1. The real power is greater than that of the Russian analogue 1.6 engine, because it is 114 “forces”.
  2. The maximum torque reaches 153 Nm.
  3. Fuel consumption is equal to: 8 liters in the urban cycle and 5.5 liters in suburban directions.
  4. The expected resource is at least 250 thousand km.

The manufacturer also plans to equip the LADA Vesta “coupe” modification with this engine, which promises to be bright and fast. Now you know which engine is in your model.

Lada Vesta is a Russian compact car, the most modern model of AvtoVAZ. Entered production at the end of 2015. According to statistics, in January 2017 the car took first place in sales among C-class foreign cars. It is believed that the Lada Vesta is the founder of the so-called “X” style, which was invented by AvtoVAZ designer Steve Mattin. Over time, this design will migrate to all AvtoVAZ models. Let us remind you that Lada Vesta is a co-platform version of the Lada Xray hatchback, which is also called a crossover. Vesta is a modern car that meets European standards. The model is capable of competing on equal terms with Hyundai Solaris, Kia Rio, Volkswagen Polo and Renault Logan.

I will only serve from the officials, come on, these bushes make me even more of a hassle. Vesta is equipped with a 1.6 engine and manual gearbox, and consumes no more than 10 liters.
  • Sergey, Nizhny Novgorod region. Lada Vesta is the best Russian car I have ever driven. Before Vesta there was Priora, the last flagship, so to speak. In comparison, Vesta seems ideal in everything - in terms of design, equipment and comfort. This is a completely different level, and Vesta is not compared to foreign cars. And why be surprised, after all, it’s the 21st century, AvtoVAZ needs to move on. Respect and respect, I liked the car. I have a version with a 1.6 engine and a manual transmission, it consumes an average of 10 liters per 100 km. 105 horses are enough for all roads, including highways.
  • Alexey, Kazan. A car for all occasions, perfect gearbox operation, soft suspension and effective brakes. I’m glad that the basic configuration includes ABS and EBD, and this is more or less a European level. We have already driven 97 thousand km with the Lada Vesta, there are no special problems. Reliability at a high level. And the 1.6 engine consumes 9-10 l/100 km.
  • Vasily, St. Petersburg. I'm happy with the car, I bought it at the end of 2015, as soon as it came out. I was really looking forward to it, and as soon as I received it, I immediately began to rush away from the traffic lights. I wouldn’t have done this if it weren’t for the dynamic 1.6-liter engine with manual transmission. Vesta can drive fast, and I also praise its excellent handling and efficiency. In the city the car consumes no more than 10 liters.
  • Oleg, Novosibirsk. An excellent car, the best invention of AvtoVAZ. Why not buy it, it’s almost a foreign car. I've been using it for a year and a half, now the mileage is 78 thousand km. I like the car, with a peppy and playful engine and fast gearbox. Gasoline consumption is 10 liters of AI-95 grade.
  • Igor, Vladimir region. The car was produced in 2015, with a manual transmission and a 1.6-liter gasoline engine. It sings normally, the engine produces 105 horses and consumes 8-10 liters.
  • Olga, Sakhalin region. I liked the car; after 67 thousand km I didn’t find any technical problems. The powerful gasoline engine, with its 105 horsepower, is capable of a lot; on the highway you can accelerate to 200 km/h. Consumption 10-11 liters.

With engine 1.6 Robot

  • Oleg, Moscow region. I purchased a Lada Vesta in 2015. By the way, this is my first Lada, before it there was a first generation Nissan Micra. The Russian car is definitely better in terms of comfort and spaciousness. Better steering and braking, more top-end equipment. Reliable, with a robotic gearbox and a 1.6-liter engine. The engine is powerful, produces 105 horsepower. Consumption 10 l.
  • Mikhail, Irkutsk. I liked the car, it has excellent handling and effective brakes - at the level of competitors, maybe even better in some ways. Numerous reviews confirm this, and after them I decided to buy this car. Vesta with a 1.6 engine and a robot consumes 9-11 liters.
  • Ruslan, Lipetsk. I'm happy with the car, I have the version with a robot and 105 hp. The best price-comfort ratio, the 1.6 engine consumes no less than 9 liters.
  • Sergey, Nizhny Novgorod region. I bought a Lada Vesta with a 1.6 engine and a robot. I regretted that I didn’t take it with mechanics. Friends advised me that the age of mechanics was over, it was time to move on and switch to cars without a clutch. So I switched over and was completely screwed. The robot thinks for a long time, is already tired of its jerks and delays when switching, and is not an option for overtaking at all. Because of the box, the dynamics suffer. Consumption 11 liters. In general, I sold it to a friend, who recommended it to me. With the proceeds I bought a Lada Vesta with a 1.8 engine and a manual transmission; recently this version went on sale.
  • Nikita, Sverdlovsk. I'm happy with the car, just right for the city. The car is set up for a quiet ride, or rather the gearbox. The robot slowly goes through the gears, sometimes with delays. But because of this, I don’t become mad, but rather the opposite - I slow down and trail behind some heel. There are enough speakers, if necessary you can pour in from the heart. The 1.6 engine consumes from 9 to 11 liters depending on the driving pace.
  • Yana, Vologda region. The car was produced in 2015, with a robot and a 1.6-liter engine. It's fine for a leisurely drive, the robot ruins everything. But I’m not really complaining, reliability is more important to me. There are no problems with her. The engine consumes 8-10 liters per 100 km.
  • Ekaterina, Novosibirsk. I have a Lada Vesta with a 1.6 engine and a robot - a good choice. The car is in motion all day long, I praise it for its playful handling and smooth ride. In the city, consumption is at the level of 9-10 liters.
  • Yaroslav, Irkutsk. A decent car for every day, I use it 15 hours a day. Repainted it yellow to match and stand out. People notice quickly, the car is noticeable. There are more and more clients, profits are flowing like a river, the car is still worth the money invested in it. Consumption is a maximum of 10 liters per hundred, there is a 1.6-liter engine under the hood.

With 1.8 engine

  • Sergey, Alexandrovsk. I purchased this Lada in 2016, the mileage is currently 50 thousand km. I drive around the city often and have studied all the pros and cons of Vesta. The car drives decently, smoothly and softly on our roads. The suspension handles any unevenness, and at the same time the car steers well. Gasoline consumption with a 1.8-liter engine and manual gearbox is 10-12 liters.
  • Victor, Ulyanovsk. A good car, a worthy competitor to foreign cars. Finally, AvtoVAZ has created something worthwhile that you won’t be ashamed of in a parking lot near some Bentley. The car is economical, in the city it consumes 9-11 liters.
  • Nail, Ufa. I bought Vesta in 2016, with a robot and a 1.8-liter internal combustion engine. A lively car, fast and smooth. Consumes no more than 12 liters.
  • Larisa, St. Petersburg. I decided to take the Lada Vesta in the top-end configuration - with a 1.8-liter engine and robot. With such a gearbox, the car sets up for a quiet ride, but the powerful 120-horsepower engine, on the contrary, strives to squeeze all the juice out of this annoying robot. In general, a mixed impression. Overall, I'm happy with the car. For the city, for the highway and for economic needs, it is quite normal. The car consumes 10-12 liters per 100 km.
  • Dmitry, Kazan. The car is universal, pleases with good dynamics and handling in the city and on the highway. There is a reserve of power, acceleration to hundreds in 12 seconds is the norm for a car with a robot. 120 forces is quite enough, even compared to competitors. Consumption is no more than 12 liters.
  • Nikita, Perm. This is the car of my dreams, I generally love the Russian automobile industry. Vesta is AvtoVAZ’s most modern car, and that says it all. I took the top 1.8-liter version with a robot, the average consumption is 10 liters. For six months, not a single breakdown, reliability, comfort and controllability - all this is at a high level. Well done, VAZ guys.

The 1.6 Lada Vesta Cross engine is a well-known engine, which received the index 21129. We know this engine from the Lada Vesta sedan, which is equipped with it to this day. This is not a completely new engine and in appearance it is very similar to the previous 16-valve AvtoVAZ engines, namely model 21127, but there are some differences. So what is the difference between engine 21129 and 21127? Globally nothing. There are five main differences:

1. 21129 has a compression ratio lower than that of the 127th engine. You can safely pour AI-92 gasoline into such an engine, and not 95, as was before.

2. 21129 motor meets Euro-5 toxicity requirements.

3. The exhaust system and intake have been redesigned.

4. The 129 1.6 Lada Vesta Cross engine is controlled by new firmware.

5. Engine mounts have been redesigned.

In addition to the main “obvious” changes, there were also internal improvements. Namely, the piston rings were changed, which became much thinner. Thanks to this, it was possible to significantly reduce friction. In addition, the pistons were also lightened.

Volume – 1.6 l (1597 cm3)
Power – 106 hp. or 78 kW (at 5800 rpm)
Torque – 148 Nm (at 4200 rpm)
Maximum speed – 175 km/h with 5-speed manual transmission and 178 km/h with 5-AMT
Acceleration to 100 km/h - 11.2 sec with 5-speed manual transmission and 14.1 sec with 5-AMT
Fuel consumption in the urban cycle is 9.3 liters with 5 manual transmission and 9.0 liters with 5 AMT
Fuel consumption in the combined cycle – 6.8 liters for 5-speed manual transmission and 6.6 liters for 5-AMT
Fuel consumption on the highway - with 5 manual transmission and 5 AMT is the same - 6.6 l
4 cylinders
16 valves
Piston stroke - 75.6 mm
Timing belt drive
Cylinder diameter - 82 mm

Despite the fact that the 1.6 Lada Vesta Cross engine is a reliable unit, it also has certain disadvantages.

1. Oil consumption. Although most VAZ engines do not suffer from this ailment, engine 21129 does experience oil consumption. It was experimentally found that this engine can “consume” up to 250 ml of motor oil per thousand kilometers. This does not mean that the engine will start consuming liters of oil, but if such consumption occurs, you should not panic and disassemble the engine - this is just a characteristic feature of the engine.

2. Bending of valves when the timing belt breaks. Yes, the 1.6 Lada Vesta Cross engine bends the valves. I don’t know if this can be classified as a disadvantage, since almost all modern cars suffer from a similar problem. But I wouldn’t want to immediately “come to the capital” when the belt breaks. But this is exactly how it will be. Although manufacturers promise a belt life of 200 thousand km, I definitely would not adhere to such fantastic figures, but would change the belt after a maximum of 50 thousand km. And along with it there are rollers and a pump. It will definitely be cheaper than rebuilding the engine.

3. Knock of hydraulic compensators. This problem, although not the most common, does occur. For the most part, the quality of the engine oil is to blame. If you do not delay with the problem, but immediately change the oil in the engine, you can avoid the “chronic clicking” of hydraulic compensators. This problem also occurs due to insufficient oil level. The solution is to either top it up or replace it with a new one.

Selecting engine oil for the 1.6 Lada Vesta SV Cross engine

This question is the most burning topic among car owners. The forums are literally exploding with the number of messages, the approximate essence of which boils down to one thing: “Take this, but don’t take this, because I took the wrong coat.” Therefore, I will not recommend a specific brand of motor oil. Let’s consider only recommendations from.

5W-30
5W-40
10W-40
15W-40

5W-30 and 5W-40 oils are well suited for use in cold regions, while 10W-40 and 15W-40 are only suitable for use in warmer months or hot climates.

If the car is new, then it is also permissible to use oil with a viscosity of 0W-40. Especially if such a car is operated in a cold climate. This option will ensure good fluidity of the oil and its rapid flow to the rubbing parts.

There is also a second parameter by which you need to choose engine oil. This is a quality class. It can specify by API or ILSAC. In our case, it is recommended to use API SM and ILSAC GF-4 or higher oils. Anything that is of a lower class will not suit us.

The graph clearly shows that the developers did a very good job of tuning the 21129 engine. At 4.2 thousand rpm, the 21129 engine produces a maximum torque of 148 Nm, and at 5.8 thousand rpm - a maximum power of 106 liters .With. Yes, it does not outperform its brother - 21179, but it shows very good performance.

Lada Vesta SV Cross engine 1.6 owner reviews

Ivan, Ekaterinburg

My previous car is a Nissan Qashqai. I would never have thought that one day I would have to change to a Zhiguli from a foreign car, but when my “Kashak” began to consume 1 liter of oil per week or more, it was decided to take a new car. The key word here is new! Exactly from the showroom and without mileage. Without hesitation, I signed up for. On the test they gave me , but I didn’t like the gap between the first and second speeds. The rest of the car was fine. I bought it at a mechanic. The impressions are positive. Especially. that I now have two children and a construction project. You need a car like this yourself! I gave the Qashqai as a trade-in and I don’t regret anything.

Dmitry, Moscow

I took the 1.6 engine and it turned out to be very responsive. picks up speed from 1st gear to 2nd like an airplane - very quickly. But 100 km/h is her cruising speed, which she calmly maintains and doesn’t seem to need any more. And I don’t really have a place to drive in Moscow - I’ll just get stuck in traffic jams. But the robot was a little disappointing - it’s not for traffic jams and not for this type of traffic. On the highway the gearbox would be quite suitable, but in traffic jams there are no options: either an automatic or a CVT only. It’s a pity they don’t put them on Vesta yet.

Anatoly, Krasnodar

It turned out to be a good device. Fuel consumption is affordable for everyone, there is no oil consumption. Responsiveness and throttle response - this can be said to be the strong point of the 1.6 Lada Vesta Cross engine! I have a manual transmission - I turn the engine to the cut-off point and everything is fine. There is no oil consumption or valve knocking! I pour oil all year round Lukoil 5W40 - and everything is fire! The main thing is not to fall for a fake. About the car - the quality is 4, the engine and gearbox are a solid 5. In terms of appearance, it's a matter of taste, but I like it!

But the dilemma is which engine for the Lada Vesta is better, 1.6 or 1.8. In this case, it is worth taking a closer look at their components and understanding which engine will be the better choice in which situation.

Let's compare technical characteristics

If we compare the technical characteristics of these two engines, then in terms of choice, the advantage will be on the side of the 1.8 liter engine (model 21179): 122 horsepower versus 106 for the 1.6 liter (model 21129), acceleration to 100 km/h in 12.1 s (for the “rival” "for 12.8), the maximum speed that a car can develop is 188 km/h for a 1.8-liter engine, 178 for a 1.6-liter engine. Thus, if you are more interested in quality characteristics, then you should definitely pay attention to the first option engine. However, on the other hand, it turned out to be less practical in terms of savings.

  • Lukoil;
  • Rosneft.

The plant calls foreign manufacturers an alternative oil for Vesta with the characteristic 5w30:

  • Mobil (5w40 is also allowed, and for new cars 0w40);
  • Motul Specific DEXO s2;
  • Shell HELIX HX8.

It is precisely with its lower power and volume that the 1.6-liter engine turned out to be a more economical option, because its fuel consumption is slightly lower than that of its opponent: 9.3 liters - in the city; 5.5 – on the highway; 6.9 – in mixed mode (versus 10.2/6.5/7.5 for the 1.8-liter, respectively).

Now let’s move on from dry and boring numbers to a more lively “interior”. As for the drive, there are as many as three options: the larger engine has a timing belt from the German company INA (and as you know, there is no doubt about the quality of German products), the standard 1.6-liter power unit has a regular timing belt, but There is also a similar engine from the Nissan concern H4M (with a power of 110 hp, many sources indicate 114 hp, but this is incorrect), on which a chain is already installed.

In the latter case, we can talk about the “golden mean” between quality and efficiency. Although, in the case of the practicality of the drive, the Nissan engine “jumped ahead” of both of its brothers - here you can save on consumables (the chain is, however, more expensive, but it lasts much longer, there is no possibility of bending the valves).

Perspective

It should be noted that the power unit from the Nissan concern is superior to our domestic engines both in many quality and technical characteristics and in terms of efficiency (more reliable, more durable and uses less oil). Surely, not everyone needs exactly record numbers from a car and its engine - most car owners are looking for the most advantageous combination of reliability, practicality and efficiency, and therefore in this case it is worth paying attention to one with a Nissan engine.

But there is one thing, the installation of the imported H4M engine has been postponed indefinitely, apparently due to the rise in price of the model and, as a consequence, the recoupment of such an upgrade is not profitable.

There is good news, on October 20, 2017, information was received that AvtoVAZ is testing another engine on the Lada Vesta, this is a 1.4-liter gasoline turbo engine from Renault and 150 hp, we’ll find out how this will end a little later.

But in order not to further mislead the public, it is necessary to mention in a few words the combination of these engines with various types of transmissions. So, the 1.8-liter engine is installed on all three types of gearboxes used in Vesta: robotic, mechanical and. A conventional domestic 1.6-liter power unit is combined with a robot and mechanics. The Nissan engine is also installed on all three types of gearboxes. As most car owners understand, a car cannot develop its full engine potential with a robotic gearbox. But the choice of gearbox remains beyond the scope of this article; among the engines, it is worth noting the 1.6-liter Nissan concern due to its higher reliability and efficiency.

Today, dealers offer only 4 options:
— 1.6l 106 hp with 5MT and 5st.AMT gearbox
— 1.8l 122 hp with 5MT and 5st.AMT gearbox

Video comparison test of 1.6 versus 1.8 engine on Vesta:

Lada Vesta is equipped with three types of engines with different technical characteristics, two of which have a volume of 1.6 liters, and the third has a volume of 1.8 liters. Models 21129 and 21179 were designed and assembled directly by AvtoVAZ, and the Nissan HR16 DE engine was created by foreign partners.

Each of the new units has its own positive and negative sides. The installation of an engine from a Japanese manufacturer (Nissan) on the Lada Vesta with a chain instead of a timing belt and a number of other differences became a sensation of sorts. A description of the features of the new engines follows in the text.

Motor Features

The engine for Lada Vesta - VAZ 21129 is designed on the basis of its predecessor - VAZ 21127. It has a new modernized air supply system and good dynamics. This engine contains air temperature sensors, as well as absolute pressure sensors.

Such innovations make it possible to monitor the composition and quality of the working mixture with high accuracy, and also prevent the occurrence of floating speed in idle mode. This engine uses a special flap system that regulates the size of the intake manifold. Thanks to this system, the engine in the Lada Vesta operates optimally at any speed.

Features and innovations of this engine for Lada Vesta:

  • The VAZ 21129 is equipped with a cylinder block of increased rigidity, as well as more reliable systems for fuel supply, lubrication, engine suspension, exhaust gas emissions, etc. This engine for the Lada Vesta has significantly improved technical characteristics in comparison with its predecessor and complies with the Euro standard
  • VAZ 21129 for Lada Vesta is equipped with a lighter connecting rod and piston group. The pistons have a short skirt and are made of high-strength aluminum alloy. They are designed in such a way that they exclude the possibility of contact with the valve under any circumstances, even to the point of breaking the timing belt.
  • The pistons in the engine have two compression rings and one oil scraper ring. The rings are made thinner, so internal friction losses are reduced.
  • VAZ 21129 involves tuning, with which you can increase its power to 150 hp.

Analysis of the characteristics of the VAZ 21179 engine

VAZ 21179 is a pioneer among 1.8 liter cars at AvtoVAZ and an innovation for Lada Vesta. The motor has gas distribution phases that can change, and it is collected on a conveyor using a selective method.

Externally, the engine is similar to standard Russian sixteen-valve models, but inside it is full of surprises. Lada Vesta, which has such a unit under the hood, is much more powerful than its counterparts with other engines and has good dynamics.

Motor specifications

Having a Lada Vesta with a Nissan engine under the hood, you can be 100% confident in the reliability of your car.
