The ESP system in a car is perhaps the most striking example of the development of technology in the field of safe driving. Born as the successor to the ABS business, ESP today has grown into a whole range of different assistants and services that make life easier for the driver in every possible way. The more expensive a car is, the more various electronic assistants there are in it. Traction control system, imitation of blocking, hill descent assistance system, emergency braking system and so on - all this is performed by the stabilization system today. But it helps exactly until the ESP icon lights up on the dashboard.
Why is the ESP lamp lit?
If the ESP lamp is on, then the system is not working. There are no other reasons, except that the driver himself turned off the stabilization system with a button (there are many cars with this system). Otherwise, the reason must be sought.
The problem is that ESP is almost entirely electronic. In terms of mechanical elements, a car with differs from a car with only the valve body design - it can not only pump out the brake fluid and lower the pressure in the system, but also, conversely, pump and brake the wheels - all or separately. Yes, the valve body also breaks (mainly the brushes and the power circuit), but this does not happen very often, and, as in the case of ABS, you need to check it last.
ESP device
The rest of the ESP is a huge number of sensors. Firstly, the system uses ABS sensors to understand the speed of movement of the wheels, secondly, it records the position of the steering wheel, pedals and the angular speed of the car, and thirdly, through special sensors and actuators, it can interfere with the operation of the engine and transmission, choosing the optimal operating mode ...
If any of the sensors does not work or does something wrong, then the system is completely turned off. It may be a mechanical breakdown, a broken wire and inadequate values. For example, an ESP failure can cause a spare wheel of a different size to be fitted. Such a wheel rotates at a different speed and that's it - the system goes crazy and turns off.
Do not forget about the low voltage in the network, if there is a lack of power supply, all electronic components will turn off.
Repair
ESP is a prime example of how advances in technology reduce maintainability. Theoretically, you can ring each sensor, check the ABS, wheels, steering wheel position, camber and a bunch of parameters, but it's much easier and faster to go to the diagnostics, where the connected scanner counts errors and immediately tells you where to look. And there, according to the circumstances, either change the sensor or repair the wiring.

Only floating faults are difficult. Usually, in this case, the lamp lights up in motion, but goes out the next time the engine is started. To identify such a problem with a scanner, you need to catch it, which does not always work out in the service conditions. There are only two options left - either to drive with the connected scanner until the error occurs, or to drive until the lamp is on constantly. The second option, however, is not at all safe.
Those who do not like services or live far from them can be offered to try to "calculate" the malfunction by indirect signs. Rarely does a breakdown manifest itself in only one place. If, together with a burning ESP lamp, the rear brake lights do not work adequately, we look at the brake pedal position sensor. If the suspension was changed before the breakdown, we look at the sensors and wires in the repair area. If there was a voltage drop in the car, then check the fuse. Etc. If there are no "tips", then only the scanner. Alas, without it, it is almost impossible to repair a modern car.
The situation with the ESP repair is about the same as with - it does not affect the speed, as they say, and it seems that you can drive, but it is still better to keep this system in good working order.

When I bet on the next MOT, I told the dealer about it, but the diagnostics showed nothing, I wrote no errors, since there are no errors, then there is nothing to fix. I left them from the service station from a cool room in the heat, drove 150 meters and, lo and behold, the malfunction lamps lit up. He did not restart the computer, but immediately turned to them. On the started internal combustion engine, they connected diagnostics, showed a break in the ABS sensor, printed it out. The internal combustion engine was drowned out, there were no errors. They said they will call after consultation with someone. Probably with NMR (NissanMotorRus). That was the end of it, in the sense that they didn't call.
One of the assumptions made by the diagnostician was that the dirt got in. I even drove into the lake, considering that the flow of water can bring down the adhering mud. Only now I overdid it a little. Forward and back, I trampled the gas pedal so that when I was reversing, my front, right mudguard turned up and it got under the wheel.
Having left on the falt, several times stopped in confusion, looked for an extraneous sound, only probably for the third time I found a worn, leaky plastic mudguard :-)
On the spot, you can thresh for at least an hour or two, the bulbs will not light up. The test starts after the start of the movement and runs continuously while you drive.
Personally, I'm not worried, the malfunction bulbs came on, right on the go I turn the ignition key to the off position, then on. The internal combustion engine does not stall, because the alarm takes over the engine control here. There is an interruption in the power circuit between turning off the ignition of the key and turning on the ignition with an alarm, although not large, but there is. This is enough to restart the computer and clear the error.
Everything that I described is true only for me and many other owners of cars stuffed with electronics. Here is such a sensitive sensor, and so on.
As I understand it, the malfunction is not connected with the temperature difference. That is, does it light up after each run during the day?
Maybe it will, but it will not show an error. Practice has shown. So I personally took a ride on a flat tire and the fact that it was flat I felt only when overtaking when it was necessary to accelerate and the car did not go as expected. This led to the loss of the wheel, but the garland of bulbs did not light up.
It can be admitted because it was a rear wheel. But you probably remember the case of St. Petersburg X, whose front wheel was already deflating and he heard that it was deflating only when it took off his shoes, after which he involuntarily parked in the swamp almost to the glass. An inflated wheel will rotate less than a deflated one. Apparently electronics at this moment thinks that there is an insignificant axle box. That is, the designer laid down a certain error algorithm, otherwise this garland in the form of malfunctions would light up every time you enter a slippery road, ice. Such a difference in wheel rotation is not enough to indicate a malfunction, this is not enough. On the T-31, it is also not enough to turn on electronic interlocks. Although someone calculated or subtracted that the electronic lock turns on when the difference in wheel torsion is almost 1/8.
bearing replacement is understandable, beating is possible here. Camber-convergence how can affect? You probably changed the bearing, and then immediately to the adjustment stand.
